GM Ietsuna |
As Zzorn inserts the earthbreaker statue into position you notice that one of the leader ghosts has an earthbreaker suddenly appear in their hands. They begin to shout orders to those around them.
The Professor recognizes this as a haunt. He channels but the burst of positive energy seems to have no effect.
Mr. Teeny |
Mr Teeny will grab one of the weapons and attempt to place it where it belongs.
GM Ietsuna |
Mr Teeny takes the bolas and places them in the slot. They appear in the hands of another of the Quah and the battle rages on. The forces of Cheliax battle the forces of the Quah on and on.
GM Ietsuna |
Kalten places the klar in its spot and again you see the spiritual representation appear in the hands of one of the warriors.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Omar places the last of the wooden weapons into its slot and the ghostly quah rally to a final push. They defeat the spectral Chelaxians and turn to embrace one another, their voices raised in victory song.
The haunt dissipates
Mr. Teeny |
Now that the haunt is gone, Mr Teeny will take a moment to watch the victory celebration then move on to check the next door for traps.
perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (9) + 20 = 29
GM Ietsuna |
Finding no traps Mr Teeny peeks inside.
Clay statues line the walls of this claustrophobic hallway.
Omar Posada |
Agreed. No haunts, no glory....or something like that. Omar half-slaps the professor on the shoulder as he moves out, worried he might injure the old gaffer.
Hammer at the ready, he moves into the hallway.
Mr. Teeny |
Mr Teeny will cautiously walk down the hall toward the next door, keeping a close eye on the statues.
perception: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (7) + 17 = 24
GM Ietsuna |
The statues stay inert as Mr Teeny and the crew walk by. Plaques with Shoanti script and dates are on the plinth of each statue.

Mr Teeny, not really knowing about the statues, will walk by acting uninterested on his way to check out the next door for traps.
perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (2) + 20 = 22
GM Ietsuna |
Mr Teeny peers into the next chamber.
Twin staircases lead to a raised stone platform overlooking this room. Four sarcophagi occupy the lower level. The lids have been smashed open, and stones shards litter the floor here. A faint feeling of unease stifles the area. Doors exit to the north and south. The staircase to the west leads to a dead end.
Sarcophagus locations marked on map with numbers 1 through 4
Omar Posada |
Omar follows but finds the hallway strange.
Is it me, or does it seem really weird that these statues are like the ONLY thing in this place that hasn't been destroyed or tampered with? Just sayin'
He can't quite make the linguistics even on a 20, and does not have a scroll of comp languages.
Professor F |
The Professor reeling from Omar's patting, hobbles ahead and rubs his eyes as he examines the plaques.
History: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Linguistics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
"Uh, never took the time to learn Shoanti. Really a difficult language, not used that often and I'm not sure there'd be a return on the effort to learn it. Unlike the other seventeen languages I'm fully proficient in."
The Professor rubs his holy symbol and glances upward.
"Brigh, be a dear?"
Cast Tongues.
The Professor leans closer and snaps his fingers.
"Aha! Of course. I was right there without Brigh's aid."
"The plaques in order have an animal totem and a name. The first says eagle followed by Story Seeker. The next horse and Meadow Grass. After that is griffin and Meditates in Sunlight. Last is a bat for Tranquil Shadow."
GM Ietsuna |
Professor F, just checking your interpretation of Tongues. Spell says this spell grants the creature touched the ability to speak and understand the language of any intelligent creature, whether it is a racial tongue or a regional dialect. Do you consider speak and understand to include read?
Zzorn |
The statues stay inert as Mr Teeny and the crew walk by. Plaques with Shoanti script and dates are on the plinth of each statue.
Before heading into the Hall of Statues, Zzorn checks out the water pool, shining a light in the waters to see if anything is at the bottom.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Satisfied nothing is in there, Zzorn follows the others north and looks at the plaques and reads them, thanks to his comprehend language enchantment...
"Professor Eff is right. But what does it mean?"
Professor F |
Oh, hmm. Not sure actually. I could see how I could read spanish aloud and hearing it understand it. I'll poke around to see if there's any rulings by Paizo folks but if he can't understand it, scratch that translation he did.
Here's a thread to consult, but nothing official.
It does say:
This spell grants the creature touched the ability to speak and understand the language of any intelligent creature, whether it is a racial tongue or a regional dialect.
I guess I've always played "understand" means read too, but I defer to your ruling which can go either way.
Zzorn |
Zzorn understands, due to Comprehend Language, so it doesn't matter...
GM Ietsuna |
In this case it doesn't matter so I'll just not worry about it for now.
You are in the chamber with 4 sarcophagi, all with smashed lids which lie scattered about the room.
Ijo Ibn Son |
Ijo paces about the wreckage, Awful for them to have done this. Such a disrespect. He moves to allow Zzorn to come through with the repair wand.
Zzorn |
"Aye... this is downright awful. Let's repair these coffins!"
Zzorn gently rubs the egg on the lids after assembling them first.
Are we in the room labeled 1- 2 - 3 - 4? I have moved Zzorn beside Number 1.
GM Ietsuna |
Yes, you are in the room with the four sarcophagi
Zzorn moves about the room and repairs the four lids. Each lid is etched with an image. One has a bat, one has a horse, one has a griffin and one has an eagle. The lids lie on the floor.
Sarcophagus 1 is labeled Story Seeker 4430–4571, Sarcophagus 2 is labeled Meadow Grass 4457–4482, Sarcophagus 3 is labeled Meditates in Sunlight 4481–4565, and Sarcophagus 4 is labeled Tranquil Shadow 4595–4692.
Professor F |
The Professor claps his hands and gestures towards the fallen lids.
"Ah! Perhaps just put the lids back on the right sarcophagi! Uh, which ones went where again, Good Zzorn?"
The Professor nudges the stronger Omar and Zzorn ahead to perform the heavy lifting.
Zzorn |
"If my good old comprehend language eyes don't lie, we must use the same order as the statues we saw outside. The first sarcophagus named Story Seeker thus needs the eagle lid. Number two is Meadow Grass, and needs the horse lid. Third is Meditates in Sunlight, and needs the griffin lid. Finally, number four is Tranquil Shadow, and this last one needs the bat lid. Yes. The bat lid."
GM Ietsuna |
The sarcophagi are sealed and the feeling of unease in this room dissipates.
Omar Posada |
Omar helps with the lifting and sighs.
Strong work. It is a terrible shame the damage done here with no thought of the glory and honor deserved by the fallen. Not to mention the history of the place. No self-respecting Pathfinder would ever do this and still be worthy of the name.
Zzorn |
"If he is found guilty of smashing this tomb asunder, mark my words, I will find him one day and beat some sense into him..."
Ijo Ibn Son |
Ijo is normally quite the relaxed figure but the disrespect shown here bubbles his rage. Yes, Zzorn. These actions are an affront. I would join you in their... education.
Mr. Teeny |
As the unease of the room fades, Mr Teeny will move through the room to the next door to check it for traps.
perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (10) + 20 = 30
I am currently unable to move my token on the map
GM Ietsuna |
Mr Teeny checks for traps then peeks into the room. There seems to be nothing of note in this room except the large table which fills the center. The table is bear with nothing underneath it. This seems to be a chamber for the living to use in their ritual observances of their ancestors.
Zzorn |
Zzorn puts the egg on the table, but does not rub it. He takes a look around the room to find if there's anything else they haven't explored or repaired yet.
GM Ietsuna |
The room is bare, except for the table. There is nothing of interest here.
GM Ietsuna |
No hidden doors, panels or other hidden details are found as the group searches the room.
Zzorn |
any room wee haven't been yet? did we check the bottom of that pool?
GM Ietsuna |
You have been everywhere and repaired everything.
Omar Posada |
Well, if that is all the broken stuff, then let's return to explain our efforts and successes. Staying in here longer just gives me more opportunity to accidentally break something else.
Omar will start heading back to the surface/entrance.
