Runt announces that "I've found some stairs. I think we should go up."

Ironperenti |

Kizzy searches the main room where the battle took place but finds nothing of interest. Meanwhile, Zherxikas and Forest find themselves out by the damaged part of the dam for different reasons. Isabella makes her way into the building. On the south side of the building Runt and Bert find a set of stairs and calls out to the others to explore them.
Do you search the other rooms before going down? Call in Forest and Zherxikas? The water rushing through the damaged area is loud and someone will have to go to the eastern outside door to get their attention.

Isabella Monstrance |

"Isa! ISA! Didn't you say to had a spell to help with the water?"
"Control water, yes. It'll only last for an hour and a half but I could significantly lower the water level."

Runt PbP |

"Good idea, then we go down the stairs?"

Ironperenti |

Kizzy checks all the main rooms with other members of the team helping. In one of the rooms they find loose stone at the base of one of the walls. Behind the loose stone is a small hollow containing a cracked emerald (worth 400 gp), a bent gold comb that looks like a behir (with its legs comprising the comb’s teeth) with tiny pearls for eyes (worth 850 gp), and a pair of lacy pink gloves. After using detect magic and some spellcraft you determine they are gloves of arrow snaring. Forest calls for Isabella who goes out to help with the flooding water. Zherxikas finishes searching the half-ogre wizardess and then heads in to get out of the rain. By the time all is said and done the team gathers in the southern room ready to descend the stairs.

Runt eyes the lacy pink gloves but is too embarrassed to ask for them, chiding herself mentally. Once the party is assembled, she leads the way down (if allowed by Forest).

Ironperenti |

The team heads down the steps. They are steep and it takes some time to traverse the six switchbacks. Finally, after the longest run of steps they come to a set of double doors. This cold, damp room features a large pool in the floor, the edges of which are caked with pale yellow slime and fungus. The surface of the pool bears a similar film. Additional carvings of skulls decorate the walls here. To the south, an impressive mound of skulls—mostly from humanoids—lies heaped against the wall, where they partially block a large stone double door.

"Slime, mold, fungus, and skulls. The décor is rotten."
"Bert, slip into your wind form and do a trip around the room, checking things out."
Runt casts light and steps into the room.

Which of these things is going to morph up and grab us? Kizzy asks. I mean something always seems to be trying to kill us. She surveys the scene, in agreement with Isabella about the decor.
Knowledge?: 1d20 ⇒ 5

Ironperenti |

Kizzy does not know who built the dam nor what form of architecture they were using. While not alien it certainly does not match anything contemporary. Likely the skulls were meant as a threat to the builder's own people or to their enemies is unknown.
Bert zips around the room but finds nothing of interest. His movement causes the water to ripple.

Runt PbP |

Bert hovers over the water after some instruction from Runt.

Runt PbP |

"Bert. find out what is in there!"

Ironperenti |

Bert takes on his humanoid form thinking the whirlwind would churn the water too much, draws his sword, and drops in. There is sudden movement which swirls the dark waters. Then they get darker still just before Bert comes bursting up from the water, four nasty looking puncture holes in him. "It's a troll, with a military fork!" he yells as he comes out of the water a hand clutched to one of the wounds.

Forest takes his shot and what a shot it is. When he steps to the edge he believes he can see the shadowy outline of the creature down in the water and releases. It hits, or so it seems.

@Z the troll is underwater, fire will fizzle on contact with the water.
Bert drops into the water and slashes at the beast. He hits but his blow is slowed by the water.
Forgot to cut his damage in half the first time for using a slashing weapon underwater. Going to leave the troll's damage where it is to account for half last time and half this time so basically full damage one time.

In case there was any confusion, the troll did not retreat to the water after being hit by fire. It was under the water from the beginning and the fire cannot reach it. Z may choose another spell, I'm sure the wizard would know a fire spell would not penetrate the water.
Bert disappears and seems rather relieved he doesn't have to take another attack from the troll. Then the two water elementals pop into existence and wail on the troll.

Isabella Monstrance |

Probably hold to heal. Otherwise I have to get inside the troll's reach and eat an AoO and he might not even come out of the water.

Ironperenti |

Zherxikas moves into the room intent on launching a scorching ray when he sees the troll is underwater. He steps to the corner of the room and waits for an opportunity to unleash fire.
The troll drops the weapon it is using and tears into one of the water elementals. The troll's bite misses but it digs into the water elemental with both claws and rips it apart.
