Terra's visage takes on a mien that shows singular focus. The crowd grows quiet; their sudden hush is the most noticeable, outward expression of their anticipation.

A single drop of sweat falls from Terra's face into the water. The sound it makes as it splashes seems to fill the underground cavern.

In a flash azata acts--successfully leaps to one pillar then the next in an unexpected display of parkour!

Before Kelvin can cut off his escape, Targrenon jumps down from the flag stump. (1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11 easier because it’s down)

Then the nimble dwarf easily makes it over to another pillar. 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27. He still has the flag.

Kelvor will wait for the resolution of Bhuukka's readied action. If Targrenon doesn't go hurt Erna for a round, he'll use his previous rolls to leap to the same pillar Targrenon is on and steal the flag from him.

Targrenon begins his getaway with the flag, but Bhuuka's spell makes him see red. The nimble dwarf drops the flag atop the highest pillar, and starts making his way to Erna instead!

One wrinkle. I wouldn't have been able to target him at the farthest pillar. The spell only has a 30 ft. range. It would have been after he jumped down that I cast the spell.

Is Parkhtu still climbing the second pillar? I thought he successfully climbed up and then jumped to the third pillar, which is what the map shows.

Terr and Parkhtu share a knowing glance. The eidolon then knocks Targrenon into the water. A second later, Parkhtu knocks Erna into the water! Granting a cirumstance bonus here for both moxie and a fun tactic!

It's a much more competitive, back-and-forth contest for the next several challenges. The Chokers pull out the stops and use every (legal) trick in the book! They end up winning a couple of challenges. You end up winning another.

Somehow, Bhuuka ends up riding a flying bat so that Parkhtu can pull off the flag tied to it. Kevlor smashes through some weapons training dummies.

Anji and Terra exhibit some amazing teamwork and tactics to corral the Chokers.

Turen makes a "Hail Mary" play that seals the whole contest.

The Pathfinders win, and the whole town cheers.

After cleaning up and receiving your accolades, you are led to the feast!

Davarn’s Spring and Fall Festivals both conclude with large, public feasts in the market square alongside musical performances and speeches from various important locals. Dinner, served across dozens of buffet tables, consists of mushroom dishes, hearty breads, and beer from downside as well as roast boar, game hens, and fresh greens from the surface. Most attendees bring out their own tables or spread blankets on the cobblestones, and festival-goers wander from blanket to blanket, saying their final goodbyes and sharing one last drink before returning to the trade routes or their everyday tasks.

As the winners of the Spring Muddle, you join Mayor Bensik at her table as honored guests, sitting with local officials as well as Erna Stoneheart, who attends as guard captain rather than a competitor.

Erna compliments the party: A fine job you did out there. I learned a few new moves.

The feast is delicious.

About 20 minutes int your meal, screams of terror rise from the picnic area near the market square’s far end. A dwarf dressed in a Davarn guard uniform runs into the pavilion and calls to Erna Stoneheart. “Captain, come quickly, they have Lukher!”

Erna grabs her axe and rushes to follow her guard back into the crowd toward the screaming people.

This next part is a little abstracted. There are very many enemies around. But there are also other able defenders besides you. All you have to worry about are your enemies--though I welcome references to the general fracas all around you. :)

Even at a distance, it's very clear to see that people have begun fighting. As you approach the distance, you see a confusing sight--Davarn revelers are fighting uniformed dwarves wearing a flaming double-headed waraxe insignia. Once you close the distance, you recognize: those aren't dwarves (not anymore), those are undead. Each wields a dwarven urgosh.

As the Pathfinders follow Erna, it becomes clear that the undead are all over the place. Four of them approach the party. Three of them attack with rusty urgoshes.

Manaria, your HP total is incorrect. You only took 10 points of damage because Parkhtu gave everyone DR 1/-, and the GM said that we are responsible for taking the 1 off of the damage. Kelvor and Terra, the same applies to you, too!

Manaria leaps into action casting and striking with grace. Unfortunately, the elf does not anticipate the agility or guile of the enemy and the magus' first attack misses. Moonsilver whirls in place trying to catch the undead abomination on the backswing. the skeletal champion slips on a banana peel (thank goodness for the plethora of carnival foods!) and the staff strikes true! The wounded undead roars with hate and confusion. But, it remains standing and ready for combat. (Red takes 26 HP of damage.)

Observing Manaria's actions, Kelvor opts for the direct approach. Like a set of anvils at a Wile-E-Coyote convention, th shoanti's earthbreaker falls upon his target. The skeleton screeches at the human--until its skull is pulverized. (Blue has fallen.)

Bhuukka, knowing that the enemy cannot abide life-giving energy, lashes out with his wand. (Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16) The tactic proves to be too much for the skeleton, and the lights in its eye sockets go dark as it crumples to the ground. (Red has fallen.)
