Parkhtu Akhen-Amun
|
Parkhtu runs in, bestows hope (DR 1/-) as a swift action, just in case there are physical enemies hiding, and then channels positive energy to harm undead, even though that's not his strong suit.
Channel to harm: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 6) = 11 (Will DC 16 for half)

The party identifies these creatures as wraiths.
Oratio hits one pretty hard with a flaming arrow. Parkhtu channels in the hopes of harming the enemy with positive energy.
Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Bhuukka, feel free to do more in your turn.
Manaria Moonsilver
|
Manaria runs down the steps and levels her staff at the blue wraith. Two serpents made of force emerge and impact on it.
Magic Missile: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 2) + 2 = 6
Bhuukka
|
Don't wraiths normally allow a save on their Con drain?
Bhuukka moves towards the closest wraith, drawing a wand as he does so. He then tries to quickly touch it with its magic and quickly draws back into a defensive position.
attacking defensively
Wand of Cure Moderate Wounds: 1d20 + 11 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 11 - 4 = 272d8 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2) + 3 = 6 (Will DC 13 for half)
Current Touch AC = 20.

Preposting Round Two for Kelvor
Kelvor steps backwards and swings at the wraith behind him (blue), calling upon the Three Traditions of Torag (free action)!
Rage+BS+Pwr Atk+boon: 1d20 + 21 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 21 + 1 = 31
DMG Cold Iron+Rage++VS+BS+PA+boon: 2d6 + 2d6 + 29 + 1 ⇒ (4, 1) + (4, 2) + 29 + 1 = 41

Don't wraiths normally allow a save on their Con drain?
Yes! They do. :) Thanks for reminding me, Bhuukka. :D
Kelvor Fort: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 11 + 2 = 16
Kelvor Fort: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 11 + 2 = 14
Kelvor, have you used your reroll in Part 3? Would you like to use one?

Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Bhuukka further injures the blue wraith with positive energy! The wraith's form sizzles as the wand seems to dissolve some of the undead creature's essence.

Turen moves into the room, positioning himself stragetically to provide Kevlor with a flank.

Round 2
Kelvor smashes into the blue wratih forcing it into the boneyard.
_________________________
The remaining wraith reaches towards Kelvor:
touch: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13, damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Kelvor Fort: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 11 + 2 = 15 Sorry, Kelvor! You just don't seem to get any breaks with these fort saves. :(
CON drain: 1d6 ⇒ 4
You know me; because of the asynchronous nature of play-by-post, I'm fine with you using a reroll on any one of the drain saves. Sadly, there will be at least some drain--unless I missed a bonus somewhere.

Fort save reroll: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 11 + 2 = 16
Guess that didn't help.
That stuff really hurts! I have 53 max HP, due to con drain. Raging, I currently have 59.

Guess that didn't help.
Any GM stars you forgot to add to the reroll?
Oratio steps over 5' and unloads a volley of three ghost salt arrows.
Longbow shot 1: 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 9 + 1 + 2 = 16, damage: 2d6 + 7 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3, 6) + 7 + 1 + 2 = 19 (point blank, favored enemy)
Longbow shot 2: 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 9 + 1 + 2 = 32, damage: 2d6 + 7 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1, 4) + 7 + 1 + 2 = 15
Longbow shot 3: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 1 + 2 = 18, damage: 2d6 + 7 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1, 6) + 7 + 1 + 2 = 17
Crit confirm shot 2: 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 9 + 1 + 2 = 28, extra damage: 4d6 + 14 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (6, 2, 1, 4) + 14 + 2 + 4 = 33 My understanding is that ghost salt blanch allows you to crit an incorporeal like a ghost touch weapon.

With apologies, I made an error with regards to the undead in that last combat. After Kelvor killed the fey, they should have been released. Please reclaim any resources you expended. Kelvor, please remove ALL your con drain. Mea culpa!
__________
Retcon: With the fey sorcerer defeated, the remaining fey in the tower flee and her undead creations crumble into dust.
Combat over!
__________
A variety of treasures are scattered around the laboratory, including three scrolls of cure moderate wounds, a wand of breath of life (4 charges), a glass jar filled with 38 onyx gems (worth 25 gp each), a fey-made silver syringe (worth 350 gp), and 183 pp.
Far more valuable than anything else, though, is Firebrand, sitting in its pool of tepid bile. After a week of Zohir’s constant experimentation and desecration, the axe is now a +2 flaming dwarven waraxe that may be used as a holy symbol for Torag.
Prior to these rituals, however, Firebrand was a +2 holy flaming burst dwarven waraxe, whose nascent intelligence spoke empathically to its wielder and offered divine magic to anyone who served its cause of defending the common people.

With Zohir slain and Firebrand recovered, Davarn is once again safe from the dangers of fey necromancy. You find your way back to Davarn, a simple matter of retracing the route back up the Blighted Path.

Once you return to Firebrand’s Redoubt, Delbera Axebringer’s ghost breathes a heavy sigh of relief, and a lively flush of color returns to her ghostly cheeks: "Thank you, bold adventurers. You have not only given of yourself to bring some rest to this old soul, but you’ve protected untold innocents from a vile fate. What you have done here, I hope, will be remembered more fondly than anything I have done. I have perhaps grown too fond of this old axe, if its theft can cause so much unrest. I entreat you to take it with you, and put its blades to use against more threats to the common people. I have carried its weight too long, and if I am to rest, I think I must let it go."
Her words said, the ghost of Delbera Axebringer moves on into the afterlife, at last at peace knowing her family and community are safe.

Davarn is elated to see the adventurers return, and Mayor Bensik organizes a public feast in your honor. The hundred or so remaining members of the Axebringer clan assemble to offer their thanks, small tokens of appreciation, and promises to name future children in the heroes’ honor.

Adventure over!
Thank you for your indulgence, everyone. I'll work on chronicles this week. Feel free to fill in the shared google spreadsheet with your day job results. :)

I've started to put chronicles for part 3 here.
Bonus Chronicle sheets will go here. When you earn this Chronicle sheet, you may choose whether or not to receive XP, Prestige Point, and gold rewards; you may instead choose to gain no XP and gold, but you instead earn 2 Prestige Points and still qualify for all of the boons and items on this sheet. If you elect to earn the full rewards, you gain 3 XP, 6 Prestige Points, and 14,862 gp (7,431 gp for characters use the slow track method of advancement). I presume you'll all go for the full rewards? (Except for Turen who's going slow track.)
I'll add chronicles when I can snatch a free moment. Thank you for your continued patience. Things got really busy, IRL.
