Albern's electrical shot once again sends sparks of electricity crossing over the creature's flesh, as it howls in pain from the electrical current surging over it's body, but thanks to the bolster it got from him, the creature doesn't yet look like it's any more hurt than before.

Atrios opens another rift in the world to somewhere artic, bringing the cold blizzard-winds to strike against this strange creature. It manages to withstand the cold, as it dodges away from the rift.

Lance takes a couple of swings with his Estoc, both going wide missing the creature, as it seems to hit nothing as it flickers in and out as he strikes.

Declan attempts to strike with her own gun, but once again the creature is able to stay out of the way of the strike, when it runs over to Albern and attempts to get a bite from his drained body and manages to pierce into his flesh.

"Ah, that one hurt!", Albern says as he is dealt a fierce blow by the creature. He ducks out of the way of the creature and taps into the powers of the universe to heal himself.

Guarded step away from the creature then I'm spending one resolve point and move action to use Healing Channel on myself.

As the elusive creature runs away from his threatened area, Lance takes a stab at it with his Estoc Bayonet. Seeing Albern take a massive bite from the creature, Lance levels his Artillery Laser at it. As his wounded ally steps away from the creature to heal himself, Lance takes a pair of shots with his heavy laser.

As it backs away and lance strikes at it, it manages to avoid the strike, as Lance doesn't find his target.

It's been another five days since the DM posted for the enemy. Does anyone know what we are waiting on? It seems strange to me each of these combat turns are taking a week to process when we only have four players.

Albern backs away from the creature when he hears a voice in his mind, almost sounding like his own "you can run... it's more fun that way."

Atrios takes out his laser pistol and opens fire on the creature, working through some of the vitality it restored when it leeched some from Albern. This gives Lance an opening his been waiting for, attacking with his Estoc, following behind the creature, he takes his first swing which cuts deep. The creature at this point looks very hurt. Declan tries to get a shot off to finish it off, but it barely whizzes past, not making impact as the creature Withdraws and disappears into the wall, like an animal looking for easier prey.

That was a critical from the Artillery Laser—so the creature is on fire and should be taking the fire damage every round.

Well, What now?!?" gasps Atrios "Do we follow?"


"Kaka kula!" DeeCo swore, looking at the wall where it disappeared. She had a couple of tense seconds of looking in the direction that it disappeared. "That thing has been here longer than we have, e's probably found a couple of places that we cannot."

The wider area was good, though. It would give them more room to move, and less space for it to jump out and surprise them. Still, she was reloading K.O. even as her eyes darted around. They were at a disadvantage, but it could be worse.

"I'll check the bodies, maybe one of them 'as the access for that ship across the way. It might not be back quickly."

The 'CHAK' of the cylinder being slotted back into K.O. was encouraging. Now they had to make it off of this rock.

Albern keeps his head on a swivel after hearing the voice in his head. He isn't sure that the creature is really gone.

"Keep your eyes up, I'm not sure that it is done with us yet!", Albern says to the group.

Readied action to shoot the creature with my arc pistol if it reappears.

Waiting a few moments, the creature doesn't seem to return, the place eerily quiet as everybody waits... and waits... and the creature does not return. However, there is the ship that does not look like the technology from the rest of this Rock, definitely newer - no older than a centuary, on the outside of the ship, the name "The Sunrise Maiden" is painted on it.

After the 19 fire damage from the artillery laser, the monster takes 6 points of additional fire damage at the start of its turn. "Well I'm not sure it's coming back. How is everyone doing? Anyone severely hurt? Should we take a look at that ship over there? I could be our ticket off of this rock!", Albern says to the group.

"Are we sure that ship is safe?" says Atrios. "What if it's booby-trapped?"


DeeCo was checking the bodies, looking to get any identification or if there were any personal effects on them. Not that there was much to see, considering the neat arrangement of the organs, but once they left, they were not coming back. Or at least she certainly would not without significant monetary motivation.

"We can check that!" DeeCo called from where she was, a confident grin in her voice.

It was, whether it survived after that you don't know

Looking over the bodies, there isn't really anything left on them, but there are several unusual objects spread around the room, some of them none of you have ever seen before and look at least a thousand years old, but it all looks like artwork with no real function.

Of course, the biggest thing in the cavern is the Sunrise Maiden - the ship is a Sanjaval Vegabond, a rather common but outdated model of starship that is known for its reliability and dependability.

”I’d like to clear the rest of the rooms and recover the bodies of the first strike team, but that ship could be a valuable fallback position. Let’s check it out,” says Lance, headed towards the ship’s hatch.

Following Lance, Atrios takes another look at the Sunrise Maiden. The other Atrios would be excited at discovering a lost ship. He might even start thinking about upgrades and customizations. Of course if he were still in this reality, his friends would still be alive.

The other Atrios has been trying to make contact. Shame is keeping Atrios from revealing the result of their switching places. Brushing away a tray tear, he tries not tot hink about it and focus instead on the matter at hand.


Nodding with the results of the search, Declan took what snapshots she could for the sake of the record, and followed Lance over to see what could be made of the ship. Definitely reassured because with this, they had a chance of getting off of this rock, but they still had to deal with that... thing. Hopefully that was the worst of what was on this rock, because if there was more, she was going to regret this decision.

Looking over the ship, finding the door is easy enough, but Declan manages to bypass the locking system on the ship. Inside the ship, it's quite dusty, but you can see a blinking light on a console on the bridge ahead of you, which acknowledges a recorded message.

"Declan, should we check the console? It's blinking. Hopefully it's not the security system warming up!", Albern asked Declan. Albern scans the room, hoping to see anything that might be useful to them.

"Na, is more like a notice", they said casually. "Good systems don't give warnings."

They remembered this type of ship. Well, somewhat. With its age, there were only a handful of ships that you still saw coming and going, and most of those took a lot of love and care to maintain. Design standards change, wiring patterns, let alone the software-compatible loki... She certainly respected quality when it was evident.

"Y'think that creature is th'pilot?", she asked, thinking that she still had a grenade in her pouch that could be used.

"I'll back you up Lance, none of us should go alone," Albern says while moving to follow Lance. "Let us know what that notice says."

Going over to the console, the flashing light indicates a recorded message. Playing the message, a female voice comes over the console.

"Captain Moriko Nash, Captain of the Independent Starship Sunrise Maiden reporting. I found this strange rock while I was travelling in the drift, and I couldn't help but explore. Little did I know that this place was home to something terrifying on the rock. The creature drained life energy and even could go through the walls. I've managed to extend out my armor's force field, but it won't last forever. Eventually, it will get me.

I think I come to terms with it. I won't survive, but at least I've explored strange worlds and seen wonders I would never have dreamed of as a child. I guess everything comes to an end eventually. I've always been the master of my own fate, and I'm not going to change now." The woman in the recording - which looks like the ghostly woman Atrios met before the new group were sent after the zombie attack - holds up a pistol. "When my force field goes down, I'll fight. But I'm saving my last charge for myself. My life, my death.

This is my last will and testament. To whoever finds this recording, I leave the Sunrise Maiden to you. It's a good ship, and no matter where I've gone, it's always brought me home... until now. If you treat it right, it'll do the same for you. Leave my body where you found it - we came from the stars, and to the stars I'll return - but the Maiden deserves to keep flying." There is a deep breath, and the video recording ends.

The log seems to be a copy from a personal handheld device that is located within a storage area elsewhere in the rock (the other way from the control room and corridor you haven't yet explored).

Looking around the Sunrise Maiden, Atrios is hesistant at first. He is still shaken from his recent experiences. However; bit by bit, he starts to relax. There is something about this vessel that feels safe.
It was a home, he realizes, a shelter. Life was nurtured here after a fashion. What if I let it do the same for me?

Finding one of the crew quarters, he climbs into one of the beds and lies down. Closing his eyes, he exhales as fully as he can, as if to let out all of the pain and fear overwhelming him these past days.

This is my reality now...


While the others were looking around the ship, DeeCo only asked the ship to perform a status check. While the others could take the time, she was trying to stay alert.

"Don't relax too much. Walls don't stop that thing."

"Oh I know!," he says. "I just thought I'd lay claim to my bedroom before anyone else does!,"

"Let's get it done!" Albern says as he heads to the ramp off of the ship, double checking that he has a full charge on his pistol.

Looking at the hanger, Lance says, "We should go ahead and load up anything of value from the hanger into the ship in case we need to make a quick exit...and speaking of that, did anyone see controls for the hanger space door?"

Did someone have a map of what we have explored so far (or can we make a map so we know where we have yet to explore)?


DeeCo was taking a moment of the downtime to do more minute adjustments to K.O., and had a panel off of the weapon, exposing a tangle of wires that might have originally been a pneumatic array. Several small tools were held in her teeth and her kit was blinking some kind of display that she looked at as she adjusted something, watching the readout on the display change. She looked up after a second and gave a nod to Lance.

"She is green an'gútegow." The panel was replaced, secured, and pressurized in under half a minute, making ready to venture out again.

"If it's got juice... we might be able ta open the doors from the 'Maiden."

"I'll defer to Declan on any matters with electronics or computers, I'm not the best with either. As far as supplies I agree. Let's see if there is anything worthwhile near the ship and load it up." Albern says, taking a closer look around the hanger.

There's only one place you haven't yet looked - which is to the west past the door where you fought the two zombies. The only place left to explore is where the ship's computer says the body of the previous pilot is - everywhere else, according to the maps that have been uploaded, is recognizable.

Albern moves to cover Lance's six. "Keep an eye out for that creature, I'm not sure if we killed it or not. I'm sure we definitely injured it, so maybe it won't mess with us, but everyone keep your eyes up!"
