From the side smoke gathered, whisps rapidly forming a massive hound. Nearly ten feet tall at the shoulders and 15 feet long, the jet-black hound moves forward on silent paws, its lips peeling back to reveal finger sized fangs and yellow eyes narrow.

Anyone who knew Tarial would see the tiny Gnome tremble slightly in fear as she tried to stand her ground with nothing but a figment of her own creation to defend her.

Everyone here should know that the giant hound is an Illusion. I rolled Bluff rather than Intimidate because she's trying to convince it the illusion is a danger rather than scare it away.

It stays standing there looking with blind eyes your way as Jennus sand deeper into the deadly earth. you can see the fear in Jennus eyes as he looks begging at you for help. Then from its open mouth the half plant half man like thing spuws a yellow cloud.

How far does the cloud extend? I hadn't planned on approaching within 30 feet of the thing. That's the range of my hex, but I was targeting Korliss.

Jeanuel's eyes lit up and he shouted out directions "Quick, cut the vine connecting the creature to the tree. It'll heal it's wounds otherwise!" he said pointedly.

He raised a hand and proceeded to make a throwing motion and suddenly acid splashed on the vine in question.

Using Combat Advice on top of Casting Acid Splash (Draconic bloodline gives me a +1 damage per dice which is why it does a little extra damage.)I'm not sure who to target with that as I don't think anyone has a weapon? If someone does actually have one, that's who he'd target.

Val, worried more about Jennus, looked to Jediah. "You're a woodsman! Start work on the vines with whoever else has cutting weapons and listen to what Jean says! I'm going to try and get Jennus!"

With that she ran to Jennus' aid. Grabbing the lad and trying to pull him from the earth.

Seeing Jennus being dragged into an earthen tomb, Berold rushes to pull him away from the tree, along with Valerie and Jediah.

Slams his fist into the guts off the zombie, spouting out green goo, but Takes a face full of Spores, hits the zombie with a stick but dose no damage that can be seen. slowed (as the slow spell) for 6 rounds. One minute later, the creature must make another Fortitude save (same DC) or take 1d3 points of Strength damage. The save DC is Constitution-based.
Reimaka = 9
get a stick and hits the plant zombie but seems to do nothing, the the sick is covered in Acid.
Zombie = 7
Goes for Reimaka, with two fist attacks back.

Since the creature was used to her usual illusions, Tarial had no options for combating it whatsoever. She let the illusion slip away into smoke once more, and after backing away again to make sure she was out of its range, began using Detect Magic to see if there was anything that could be used to defeat it.

In the heat of the action, he doesn't stutter.

With the immediate danger over, Rei throws away her acid covered smackin stick in disgust and starts to look around for a suitable replacement. Grabbing a new 'club sized' stick from nearby ground or tree

Completely oblivious to the rest of the group, Rei continues to wander through the trees, picking up the occasional stick and taking some practice swings, eventually discarding each one to try another.

Jeanuel smiles and breathes a sigh of relief when the creature no longer moves. With the others tending to Jennus, Jeanuel goes about making sure there are no others. "I would suggest letting the adults know that we have a Gallows Tree here. That, was what is known as a Gallows Tree Zombie. While the name suggests some type of humanoid creature, it's actually a plant. I imagine some poor chap though was where it got the nutrients and shape from. Thankfully, Jennus didnt get hurt by the creature other than a bit of a good scare." he offered as he made sure to give proper berth to the vines of the tree and such.

After a few moments though, he was eager to leave himself. "Let's retrieve the cart then and help Jennus complete his job and get back to the town. All that walking and unpleasantness has made me rather hungry." he said with a somewhat happy tone.


Jeanuel, as you walk around checking you see in the hole this thing came out of a body, now a skeleton, but its armoured and seems to have weapons, rusty but there.

Jeanuel pauses as he stares down. "Not much use for me, but I reckon if we were looking for coin to enjoy the festival..." he says as he starts carefully removing the gear from the skeleton.

He tosses it unceremoniously behind him onto the ground in front of everyone.


The clothing is rotten, but there is a bronze helmet, Brest plate, Dagger, short sword.
All the straps have gone, and the handles need replacing. There is also a pouch untouched by time. IN side is 25 silvers 3 coppers and 1 gold, also a small rod with odd symbols on it. Everything looks very old. The faces on the coins are unknown.

Alyssa has no weapon or tool for chopping the tree down. She focuses on her friends. "Was anyone hurt? I can use a healing hex to help heal minor wounds."

I think Rei was hurt. Anyone else?

As Alyssa walks up and touches her, Rei feels her strength returning, and straightens up with a new stick. "Thank you! You must bring good luck because I found a new smackin' stick. This one is my favorite!" She then meanders over to see what the others are looking at. "Whatcha got there?"

Korliss aids in retrieving the wood cutter, then moves to pull his cart.

"We must warn the village of this place. It will require consecration and fire, the taint must be purged to make the forest safe."


"I agree that we need to warn the others." Valerie said. "They can return and properly take care of this. There is nothing we can do right now not to mention we need to get Jennus back. Let the adults handle this."

Well, so far her magic was not going especially well - but Tarial was always willing to give it another try. This time she used Detect Magic to see if any of the items from the monsters haul might emit magic.


The items are all mundane but for the pouch, its magical.
