Raggnor Grub
|
"Maybe we should setup camp for the night it's been a tough day and we need the rest." He says looking at some of the tired faces.
What is the time of day I've lost track:)
| Yume Tsuni |
She was heaving, struggling to keep her human form. But as she hears what her friend Issi said about being cold, she turns to her
"You could share my fur?" she offers, still with a weak smile after her almost lost fight with the creature
| Donovan Dale |
"Here Issi, you can have my blanket." Donovan pulls out a heavy wool Shoanti blanker from his Pa's bag.
He looks down at the crest on his armor, "I think we need to push on, the lady may be in danger."
| spectrevk |
By my very approximate calculations, you are all about 16 miles or so from Heldren, which is a full day's travel for a halfling. You're all humans, so your daily range is more like 24 miles, but you've also been fighting.
Soinari flies up into the air to scout the area. When she returns, she says: "There is no doubt that the lady is in danger, but I don't think we can reach her today. Many of you are already hurt, and travel will become even more dangerous after dark. I don't see any nearby settlements that we can reach today, which means they must have taken her deeper into the woods. I'm not really from here, do any of you know where they might have taken her?"
Anyone with Knowledge: Local may roll it, and I will also allow Knowledge: Geography or Knowledge Nature in a pinch.
| Donovan Dale |
Gathering wood is something Donovan can do. He has never been camping but is happy help where he can.
Survival Aid: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (12) - 2 = 10
| spectrevk |
Raggnor and Kryas are both personally familiar with the region's local rangers, the High Sentinels. Raggnor knows them because they frequently rely on his parents for consulting on matters relating to the local ecosystem and keeping the woods in relative balance. For Kryas, when he made his return to Heldren, he was found by one of the rangers near the edge of the woods. Both of you know that they have a lodge about 10 miles hike from here, across Wishbone Creek and deeper into the forest, near the crossing to High Ridge. They might be able to help.
| Horvan Urthadar |
Horvan gathers wood and helps with shelter and in general tries to help make everyone comfortable and warm.
Survival: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19 It actually seems he knows what he is doing.
Raggnor Grub
|
"I was just thinking the same thing, nice people they often have tea with my parents." Raggnor helps with building the shelter."We should take turns keeping a watch out and also keep the fire burning, two at a time every hour."
Survival to help build shelter: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
| Donovan Dale |
"I'll take first watch, I am feeling too jittery to sleep.
Fort Save to not fall asleep: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Issi Flamehair
|
Issi spends the night looking miserable despite being bundled up in her fur coat and gloves - she doesn't seem to be a natural creature of cold. In the tent with Yumi she curls into the older girls side and falls asleep quickly, curled up into a red-haired ball.
Raggnor Grub
|
Raggnor sits by the fire enjoying freshly cooked Tatzlwyrm and handing it around to people who are brave enough to try it and he thinks to his self despite all the dangers this has been one of the best days of his nine years.
| Henyan Bridleback |
Nothing to do at night.
Henyan takes his watch in the middle of the night, sitting with his back to the fire.
perception with Dark vision 60': 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
| Horvan Urthadar |
Horvan does not bother to button his coat and does not sit too close to the fire. He notes I thought it would be colder. He takes his watch and when he returns to his bedding he dreams of the found masterwork sword. It is almost as if the sword is warming him of some coming threat...
Raggnor Grub
|
When it's Raggnor's turn to watch he gets a little bored and decidesee to build a snowman to help him keep a look out.
Craft snow sculpture: 1d20 ⇒ 1
It doesn't go well he just ends up making a large pile of snow and slush with two sticks suck on top
Kryas Azrin
|
Kryas puts on his warm fur and leans back near the fire, he pulls out a Lyre (mini harp basically) and begins playing with a degree of skill. Fingers lightly dancing across the strings.
His song grows fast, vaguely sounds like he's playing a tune alongside the fire, he changes to a more foresty joyous song. He plays a few songs trying to set everyone at ease.
| Yume Tsuni |
She happily sways her torso. Smiling as she tries to keep to the rhythm being played (this is before she goes help keep Issi warm)
| spectrevk |
The next morning, the air is frigid. It's fortunate that you have warm clothes. Fortunately Horvan and Raggnor were able to find enough food the previous evening to provide you with a passable breakfast. After you've eaten, you move further along the path to the ranger station, though oddly enough the tracks you had been following before are heading in the same direction.
After an hour or so of walking you find yourself passing through a group of trees that have been oddly decorated with bundles of black feathers.
Soinari Perception check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
| Yume Tsuni |
Yume will stretch and make sure to turn back into her human form before heading out into the cold. Sometimes she really disliked being in this form, but, people had a tendency to stare
"You okay there Issi?" she asked with concern
| Yume Tsuni |
Yume gives her friend another hug
"At least our folks will know we are together. I mean. We will all be missed, I'm sure the grownups will figure out that at least. And. I'm sure if we try hard enough we will be able to go home soon"
| Donovan Dale |
"We are going to be doing a great thing Issi, we will get you home safe and sound"
| spectrevk |
Raggnor cannot recall ever seeing similar decorations before, and as you all take a closer look at the bundles, you realize that these are actually frozen birds - crows - that have been killed by tiny arrows and strung up in the trees as macabre trophies. Horvan feels a sudden chill emanating from the sword at his side.
It is around this time that your group is ambushed by tiny arrows

Horvan fortitude save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Soinari is struck by one of the tiny arrows, the wound immediately frosting over. She shivers, but pulls the arrow out without seeming too much worse for wear. The arrow fired at Raggnor embeds harmlessly into his armor, but Horvan is struck. He feels a terrible, numbing cold from the arrow, but resists the effect. Whoever fired these arrows is hidden somewhere in the surrounding trees, but you will need to make perception checks to find them.

Anyone who rolled higher than 1 can see one of the attackers: Shor. Above 11, you can see Shor and Vosi; above 15 you can see Shor, Vosi, and Pym. All three appear to be tiny glowing lights from a distance, but upon closer inspection it is clear that they are small, blue fairies armed with bows and short swords. they bear strange white markings on their blue skin.
Raggnor Grub

As soon as Raggnor spots Shor he throws his cold iron spear at the tiny glowing fairy.

He holds up his shield and prepares to cast a javelin at one. "We have you outnumbered, but mean you no harm.

Kryas recognizes these creatures as Winter-Touched Sprites, and is able to spot two of them. They are vulnerable to Cold Iron, as all Fey are, and because of their winter affinity they are immune to the cold but vulnerable to fire. They are capable of some minor magic, and their attacks can cause numbness.
Kryas Azrin
|
Winter touched Sprites... i knew something was off. They don't like fire! use that if you have it and they also know some minor magics. He looks to the group the to the sprites We can talk this out, we aren't here to harm nature. Just to rescue someone from some bandits

Issi successfully beans Vosi with a stone for 3 points of damage.

Kryas attempts to negotiate with the Sprites, but they seem uninterested in peace, and are actively in combat.
Vosi fires a tiny arrow at Issi in retaliation
