Jadger makes sure to douse all his companions in the water.
If there's calls for help, Jadger can't hear them. Sorry. Too bad.

Helikon |

All that fight the fire roll a combat check vs 12. If you used magic water add +4 to the check.
Manthos moves into the next room
The master bedchamber is filled with a massive canopy bed draped with silk sheets and littered with an assortment of small trinkets and relics, all scattered among piles of scrolls and parchments. To the west, hunched at the foot of a small reading table, lies a bespectacled man with a sinister-looking
dagger protruding from his abdomen. The man’s right hand is chained to the right wrist of a woman who screams frantically as she thrashes to pull a second chain binding both parties to the flue of the fireplace. The chain rattles but doesn’t give. Smoke billows throughout the room, as flames lick from burning
overhead timbers.

![]() |

how are they chained? are there manacles or a lock of some description? If so I'll try and pick one fo the locks, starting with the woman first
Disable Device: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

CMB check: 1d20 ⇒ 1
"GAAUUUGHH now my shield's on fire-"*SPLOOSH!*"Much. Obliged. Jadger."

![]() |

”Unthinkable! We must do something now”. Rushing to the bed, Manthos begins rummaging through the relics and items to see what is a fake and what is rare.
Appraise: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

Rhinshin moves up to the woman and man, but gives Ripsnorter a chance at taking care of manacles. He then goes back to the room to assist with the fire control.
combat check: 1d20 ⇒ 15

![]() |

Jadger continues with creating water to douse the flames with.

![]() |

CMB with Water!! 1d20 - 1 + 4 ⇒ (17) - 1 + 4 = 20
I can't aid others? sobs

![]() |

Rhinshin moves in and this time attempts to disable the manacles,
disable device: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31

![]() |

Rhinshin helps Ripsnorter carry the wounded out, well the best we can. "We need to go" Rhinshin yells to the woman and Manthos.

As soon as Torvad is safely away from the burning building, he collapses,
blood spewing from the dagger wound in his stomach. At the same
time, several members of the Pure Legion arrive on the scene,
including Captain Kazima Rufah.
The Legionnaires begin to ask questions about what happened, forming a perimeter around the courtyard.
What do you do?

![]() |

"It looks like we just spoiled an assassination attempt." Rhinshin says looking at the dagger wound. "See the dagger is still stuck in him." Rhinshin then tries to remove the dagger.
Is there a check for that?

![]() |

"We came here because we had business with these people and were attacked. Then, we found the house was burning and these two people trapped inside," Bielsi answers the legionnaires. Seeing no need to lie about this part, at least.

![]() |

Jadger moves towards the injured Torvad and tries a wand on him to see if his wounds can be treated...and then remembering who was before him stopped and instead decides to use his own power instead.
Cure Light wounds, if Torvad isn't dead. 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

![]() |

The dishevelled man raises an eyebrow and then smiles while nodding his head in part incredulity and awe as the gnome uses divine magic and a contraband wand in front of the pure legion.
Damn, that gnome is a bad ass! HAHA, now this might be a proper fight...

![]() |

Do you require a Stealth?
As I don't brandish a holy symbol or such to cast it.
If required, stealth 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Else if questioned about the wand, it can also be used by Arcane casters. Jadger will make a good argument on that.
In case Its required to specify, Jadger is an Oracle.

![]() |

"Captain, forgive our transgressions but we do not want to see a citizen of your capital victim to the aggressors that assaulted this manor." Bowing slightly, Manthos keeps his eyes carefully on the Captain.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
&$%&*$*&

![]() |

Hmmm being Deaf, Jadger does not hear the captain's words. lol

![]() |

Ripsnorter helps the guards brand the gnome so they can move on with the quest, he takes the handkerchief from Torvad lets him whisper the details of the auction in his ear and then he tells lady "what's her face" that they are going to keep the items they found/rescued as a reward for saving her life and that she should explain their value and significance as well.
He shows her the bust, the packet of seeds & the dagger.
I'm pushing forward as there is almost 0% chance that we will finish this by May 6th at the current pace.
Once the group leaves the guards Ripsnoter suggests they could also tell the Pure Legion about the auction and see if they will help them raid the place, The confusion could be a great chance to grab the items they need it could also earn us some favour and maybe get them to remove the mark from Jader?
Does the party want to inform the legion or stick to the current plan and try and win the items at auction?

![]() |

No problem with being branded. Moving on.

Helikon |

Jadger is not branded, but inked with a special ink on the forehead.
One the way out you also found something of worth:
a missive from Inusi Mendalari to one Famish Squinwhisban, a gnome architect. The letter includes a set of blueprints explaining the positioning of the joists Inusi used in “the Pure Legion stables
that allowed her to create a more open and efficient floor space without sacrificing the structure’s integrity or security.
Also a linen envelope containing a will written in Osiriani by one Abbash Borkalik, naming his daughter Abeesa as his sole heir. See handout
As you apporach the auction you walk to the museum you pay a few copper to a town guide and listen to his words:
The Museum of Philosophy, Logic, and Natural History is one of the most prominent buildings within Azir’s Grand Souk. The construction of the building itself was ordered by the current Keeper of the First Law, Malduoni, as a way of preserving Rahadoum’s culture, history, and influence, as well as reinforcing the positive impact of forbidding religion on Rahadoum’s development as a nation. As a purely academic and historical institution, the museum focuses on exhibits and displays related to anatomy, arcane studies, archaeology, astronomy, debate, law (including an exhibit focusing solely on the history, development, and evolution of the Laws of Man), mathematics, philosophy, science, secular history, and zoology. Constructed of three stories of stacked sandstone blocks, a prolific archway over the main entrance, and white marble columns accented with silver trim, the structure itself is already becoming an icon of the city as much as the Pure Legion patrols that often pass by its front steps. Many of Azir’s residents spend time reflecting in the museum’s main courtyard, which features a magic pool of eternally clear water surrounding a colossal, white marble statue of Kalim Onaku, author of the Laws of Man. See map
As you enter the guards check for each prospective entrant’s bidder’s banner, the carefully woven scarves used as both entry tokens and bidding signals during the auction.

![]() |

Jadger proceeds to admire the exhibits and displays related to anatomy, arcane studies, archaeology, astronomy, debate, law (including an exhibit focusing solely on the history, development, and evolution of the Laws of Man), mathematics, philosophy, science, secular history, and zoology.
Seeing that despite their dislike for divine magic, their culture was really a fascinating work in progress.

![]() |

"We are here for the auction good sir. Please let us in forthwith."
Manthos bows humbly to the guard.

He may have IRL issues. Let's wait a while.

"Typical first of May friends and parties?" Where do you live? I know that's Labor Day most places, but I didn't know that came with 'typical' parties....
On what items do you want to bid?
Aside from the Shield shard we came here for, I can't say don't find that staff attractive.

![]() |

Rhinshin looks over the items and sees nothing that peaks his interest, until he comes finds the random bracers. "Oooh...I never heard of those before. I think my cousin would like these." When called Rhinshin would like to bid on bracers.
After perusing the list, he goes around the hall, listening in on conversation, trying to figure out what the others are here for.

![]() |

Jadger mingles around with the other bidders hopign to pick up scraps of information.
Diplomacy 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

![]() |

Alexis, of course, does some hobnobbing of her own...
Diplomacy, guidance: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 additional +4 vs anyone with at least 5 more HD than I
...unfortunately, navigating the local politics's unusual strictures proves to be quite an obstacle for her.
Also: Is it a new day since the incident with the fire and festrogs, or still the same day?
