I was kinda hoping that's what would happen here. Not gestalt obviously, but some kind of everyone has elemental powers party. Oh well, this way will be fun too!

Remind me please, what's our rank? And how would we introduce ourselves?

e.g. Would I say,

"Well Mr. Derindi, I'm Cica Sabuleum. If you..."
"Well Scribe Jask, I'm Private Sabuleum. If you..."

Or...

For that matter, how would we commonly refer to each other? Is just using first name reasonable?

There is not as developed a ranking system as there is in modern militaries. You are just legionnaires (except for Ilistra, who is an auxilliara). Above you are centurions, then above them are First Spears, or Primus Pilus. First spears command cohorts, or ten centuries. Then above the primus pilus are various Tribunes, Generals and the leader of the whole shebang, the Legatus. Each contubernia usually has an Optio, or first among equals, who leads them and reports to centurion and such. Up to y'all if you want to establish that, if not you're all equal.

You would introduce yourself however you want, but if you want to use your title it would be Legionnaire Sabuleum, or Guardswoman Sabuleum.

Refering to each other by first names is reasonable.

As for Derindi, he doesn't have a clear position in society at the moment so he would just be Citizen Derindi. I debated the Mr. thing since we use that in English, but that's a modern diminution of noble mannerisms which became applied to the bourgeoisie. Not really appropriate for a society with castes.

It appears that the first retcon of this exciting campaign comic will be taking place in the next post issue of The Gallant Garland, dear readers!

No worries. I almost did it in Placidus' post too, but I didn't at the last minute. And then Gyr's question made me think it through and come up with an actual answer :P

Thanks for letting us know you were waiting for more from us.

This might be a good moment to ask some more clarifying Qs:

1. Do we know where the Shiv is? (and/or do you want k.geo rolls about it?)

2. Do we know if we have access to a boat for Legionnaire business?

3. Has our training led us to think it's reasonable to go back to our senior officer and say "How should we get to the Shiv?" Or are we expected to somehow figure it out on our own and not come back until we're done?

Thanks!

Do we have the authority as lowly legionaries to just take off with a prisoner?

I made a knowledge roll, didn't see a response to what I know.

1) Ilistra probably does, and I forgot to respond to her roll.

2) Maybe, you would need to ask someone.

3) You were ordered to investigate, so it's up to you to interpret that. Either would be reasonable I'd say, just sends a different message I guess.

Darius - Your orders were to go get him and investigate his claims, and the jail staff seemed to be expecting you, so presumably yes.

Ilistra - I'll respond in the morning, my bad.

Back in the ER with kid. Will post when I can.

Quicker than intended post to explain my absence lately:

1. Kid: he’s okay, but been battling a virus for about a week and a half. Finally been symptom free for about two to three days.

2. Work: still working as much OT as I can grab.

3. Wife Aggro: anytime I so much as THINK I have free time to post, she uses her super-wife-mind-reading-powers to come up with something for me to not have free time. As is, I’m hiding in the bathroom to post this to all my games. Example 2, today was secretly planned to be a big day of relaxation and posting. She and the kid were supposed to be at school. Instead, she wanted me to keep the kid. Reason: just because.

4. Interviews: been to multiple interviews lately trying to get into a better job that will require less OT. No such luck so far, with one last major option within my hospital in process. Low odds of getting picked. May have to start looking outside of my facility.

I’m PLANNING on tomorrow being my 1 “me day” in the past few weeks and getting some posts caught up. We will see how that goes.

Just to be clear, what are the exact terms of Alexandra's payment? We appear to have a deal, but the exact terms aren't very clear to me.

You give her a gold piece now, and one third of your salvage is what I got from it.

I will be away from my PC this weekend, I probably won't post until Sunday night or Monday.

So none of the PCs have both spellcraft and detect magic? This is going to be a rough AP....

Garland should have it as an Oracle.

Jelani, With your permission, I'm happy to switch my cantrips around to include Detect Magic. I took Create Water and Purify Food / Drink, but see those are well represented with others.

Given that I have a lot of skill points and a 12 INT (and Spellcraft is a class skill for me), maybe Garland and I'll end up tag teaming it.

That works for me.

Hey guys, I've been getting swamped by farm shopping. I will try to get this updated as soon as I have time, but expect slow posting from me in the upcoming period as I'm busy with house buying and moving.

Lurking while I update.

I am heading out of state later today to look at more houses this weekend. Don't expect any posting from me until Sunday or Monday.

I am trying to keep this game running, so if I post anywhere it will probably be here.

Anyone who doesn't have a stat line with AC, HP and Saves up, now would be the time please. Thank you!

Does k. religion 15 tell me anything about'm?

I'll give you undead traits and that blunt weapons would be most effective against them. They appear to probably be some form of basic skeleton.

@Jelani: Since Cica acted, I think we're now just waiting on Placidus.

I'm going out of town today to close on the new house, won't be back until Monday evening. I won't be advancing this until then at least. Sorry for the delay guys, a lot going on IRL right now.

Nah, she was babbling confusedly. I just put the description of it in an earlier section of the round recap because it seemed to fit well there.

Just as a heads up, I will be leaving May 2nd to go pay homage at the House of Mouse and won’t be back home until May 12th, and then diving right back into work for a few days. Through those first 10 days, my posting may be slower than usual but I’ll still try to get a post in as able and needed.

Been a hectic stretch for me lately. Had some life things crop up that have kept me occupied, and picked up a second job to try and help out with some financial strains I’ve been having. If I’m a bit more silent than usual, please don’t take it as a lack of interest.

I will continue posting as I can, but anything involving heavy mechanics posts may be slower than usual from me. If it comes down to it, this is my official authorization for the DM to take an action on my behalf to keep things moving rather than risk slowing the game because of me.

Is anyone keeping track of party loot in this game?

Not yet. I can copy the loot tracker I made for us in RotR but I'd want at least one other person helping to keep it up to date.

...or I'm happy with someone else tracking it differently.

...or we could just assume that we're filthy rich, and all go retire on a beach somewhere.

I can post all the loot from book 1 so far, but I don't really want to keep track of it long term.

Done with purchases. I'm just keeping the efficient quiver + buying enough mithral to make a breastplate.

Forgot to mention:

Hindering projectiles -
Your successful deadly shot leaves the weapon or ammunition used for the attack lodged in the wound, making it difficult for the target to move and react. The target takes a -2 penalty to attack rolls, AC, and CMD; multiple uses of this ability stack, increasing the penalty by an additional -2 per projectile lodged in the target. The target may remove a single projectile as a move action, or may remove multiple as a full-round action

For the expedition, Garland has thus far purchased...

Group Items:
-Two Donkeys
-Two Pack Saddles

Personal Items:
~Two Months of Personal Trail Rations
-Cold Iron Lance
-Exotic Military Saddle (for when Luna reaches full size)
-Masterwork Studded Leather Armor

I've been a bit stuck on purchases but finally put some time into it.

A few Qs: Placidus is the only one in the party who will be slowed by armor. Is he OK marching in light (or no) armor, during the day?

all there are (at least) a few ways to improve overland travel. The most dramatic that I could find would be getting a L3 Skald hireling, who (assuming they have a 12+ CHA) would be able to DOUBLE our overland speed for 8 hours with Marching Song. Jelani, would a L3 Skald be available to hire? And if so, for how much / day?

Less dramatic (but it works with or without the Skald, and is much cheaper), would everyone be willing to buy Trekking poles for yourself and your servant? For 15 GP, we'll all get +10% to our overland speed.

If we march > 8 hrs / day, we need to make a Constitution check (DC 10, +2 per extra hour). If the check fails, the character takes 1d6 points of nonlethal damage and is fatigued. It might be worth going 9 hours most days. To eliminate the fatigue of that first hour we can also buy Marching Coffee.

It seems like we want to Get There First! Whaddaya say?

hireling, trained (3 SP/day, 9 GP/month) -- Jelani, what're our options in terms of NPC class / level / skill ranks? If we can build them ourselves, what're the build rules?
backpack, mwk
bedroll
mess kit
fishhooks
waterskin
grooming kit
medium tent
Tent coversgive +5 to save vs adverse weather, and DR 5 vs swarms
trail rations
pitons
teapot
compass
trekking pole
cauldron
ox
pack saddle
antiplague (1 dose)
antitoxin (2 doses)
mead (gallon)

If I have a trained hireling, am I also buying everything she'll need? (bedroll? tent? grooming kit? trail rations?)

If I have a trained hireling, am I also buying...

1) No, he'd want to be in armor. He can buy a mount though.

2) I was limiting hirelings to these: Hirelings, Servants and Services, or you can have a lvl 1 warrior auxiliary Guardsman (most likely a native of the Grave). As for stats they are going to be level 3 or less in NPC classes. These are not intended to be combat or healing/buffing companions, more like servants. The only point of them is to carry your stuff, set up your tent, polish your armor, repair your shoes, cook your food, wash your tunica, etc. All the stuff adventurers supposedly do, but that just magically happen off screen in most games. If they get in a fight the power level we're going for is, you should be extremely worried they will die in one hit. They will come with their own basic supplies as part of their hiring price.

3) I think trekking poles and marching coffee are great ideas, we should get them as group loot if we can afford them. That or all get mounts. Placidus has the money for a rhinoceros, a tiger or a giant vulture. All would be sweet mounts and have at least a 40 foot move. Riding Animals. Remember, no reptiles. Also no wooly this or that's which would die in jungle heat.

Hireling: The most I can find (digging in Discord) is:

ME:
Re: hirelings, i was just thinking about skills, like profession(cook), craft (leather), craft (armor), survival... The former so or meals don't suck. The rest mostly to aid

Jelani:
That could be an auxialiary

I haven't been inspired to do more that...but I think mostly she hired someone who she thinks is a pretty good cook (and also willing to set up her tent for her and whatnot).

Let's call her Maidi.
