Sara points out a lever that is attached to a firing mechanism that Marcus had missed. With the two of them working together Marcus is able to jam the machanism ensuring the circuit won’t complete and set off the trap.

"Fantastic!" says an ecstatic Bimble, as he admires the magical object for a moment. "The magics can work for anyone, would someone like to try it?"

We can add it to our inventory and move on . . . I'm not sure what other rooms are left besides the one with the animals that might wake up.

There is the long hallway that surrounds the rooms, with a door at each end unchecked heading south, along with a door across the hall heading north. So at least three more rooms to check. I would vote for northward for now.

"It just looks like a statue, though. What does it do?" Rossana asks as the item is collected.

Conditions:

One is as good as another to Sara, so she'll go northward with Rossana.

Sara waves off wanting the raven, tipping her new nifty hat at Bimble. She gotten that, a truly stunning dress, a perfectly balanced rapier...
More than she's ever collected over the years on a meager baker's salary. Which would be great, if it wasn't for the undead things wanting to kill them, horrible traps to fry them, and the bloody carnage happening in their lovely city which might destory all she loves about their nation.

She keeps those thoughts to herself, and simply suggests "We should move on... northward?"

Inactive

"Well, it transforms into a real raven if you speak the command word!" Bimble will demonstrate.

He'll then try to give it a few commands. "Fly up! Come back! Fetch!" and sees how well it does them.

"The magics last 24 hours each week, so you can use it for quite a while. When you're done, it can become a statue once again."

It takes a while before Bimble realizes he's being sidetracked. "Oh right, I guess we can head northward!"

After Bimble demonstrates the function of the Silver Raven and you gather anything else that may be of worth you all decide to head northward. Marcus moves up and takes a look at the door.

When Marcus checks the door, he finds something odd, some strange ruins, barely visible inscribed around the door, it seems that there is some sort of magical trap on the door.

If I'm not mistaken Marcus doesn't have Trapfinding so cannot disable magical traps.

That's correct - I plan to take it when I get my first slayer talent (which, with my archetypes, isn't until 6th level, but I think it will still be helpful down the road).

"Bimble, can you come take a look at this? I'm worried that these runes are a sign of a magical trap of some sort that I don't think I can handle on my own."

Bimble dawdles forward and starts glancing at the rune.

"Well, we could try the same accidental trick from before -- except this time on purpose. My unseen servant is with us for the next hour and could perhaps set this off."

Bimble examines the magic and determines the aura to be of moderate enchantment.

The unseen servant is actually gone. Took more than 6 points of damage from the shocking trap.

Sara:
You suddenly have this extremely strong urge to just open the door with everyone standing there.

You don't have to do it, but the urge is there. You decide whether your character would do it or not just from that internal urge.

"That sounds like it would be the wisest and safest way to go about it, master Bimble. How far do we ought to step back? Wouldn't want to lose my eyebrows to a fiery conflagration."

The answer to his question came to him in a shocking fashion - poor unseen servant!

Oops! Poor dead servant. Anything from the spell craft check?

"Great, let me just get the fellow over here . . ." Bimble seems to be gesturing to something, and then repeats the gesture a few times in frustration. "Right, it seems that the electricity was a little more effective than I realized! I still have a trick to open a door from a distance."

A wounded, momentarily aggressive Bimble comes to his senses again. "It would seem the enchantment was some sort of confusion effect. Perhaps enhanced with some sort of power of suggestion that drew Sara. Sorry about attacking you back there, I didn't mean it, and I'm sure you didn't either." Fortunately, Bimble understood the magics well enough not to be offended.

Bimble looks down the hallway. "Should we finish exploring behind us before moving onward?"

"Thank you, Sara." Bimble is grateful for the healing. "I'm fine, I really don't blame you for it. The magic ensnared me as much as you. I was just a little less effective in fighting." Bimble tries to make light of it as he rubs the spot where his wound was.

He beckons the priest over. "Please, tend to Sara's wounds. I've been enjoying the exploration of this historical manor, but maybe not appreciating the danger. Now that's changed. Do you think that door ahead might lead us out of here?"

Marcus had moved without thought to intercept the gnome from attacking Sara...and perhaps to attack him himself. He was slightly afraid and how quickly he had acted, how easily he found himself able to engage with one of his new companions.

I’m ready to be out of this place, that’s for sure.

Putting his hand on Sara’s back to comfort her, he nods to Bimble.

”Only one way to find out.” he says before moving toward the door ahead.

After the debacle with the trap and Bimble explaining what happened the group decides to move on, still searching for a way out. Marcus leads the way, keeping an eye out for any dangers, especially after what just happened. Reaching the door he does his thing to make sure it is safe.

However, much like the previous door he finds another trap. It appears the ceiling is rigged to partially collapse if the door is opened. He attempts to disable it, but isn't quiet able to get it.

Capricia seems to be lost in her thoughts. She utters a brief gasp when Sara stabs herself but, unknowing in the ways of magic, doesn't know the right words to say to make the young woman feel less bad about her sudden stabfest.

At the latest trap, Capricia again pauses. "Are we quite sure we want to get out of this place so soon?" she asks the others. "I mean, the purge might still be ongoing, and I didn't stand a chance against that assassin who gashed my side...." The hand of her buckler arm unconsciously moves to her initial wound.

Capricia's words hold some wisdom to them. Otavio wants to reply but swallows down whatever words he felt like saying. "If anything, this place isn't exactly hospitable and as such it isn't the craziest of ideas to try and find a way out. Whether upon finding an exit we actually want to leave is something else and we can leave that decision for then? How does that sound?"

There's more than that just discussion, however. There's also the fact that Marcus stumbled upon a trap and was unable to undo it. "Can we perhaps yank the door open from afar so that whatever comes crashing down doesn't come down on us? Like by using a rope?"

"Nicely done!" says a delighted gnome, as Sara redeems herself. He checks for magical auras on the door, just in case, but otherwise lets Marcus proceed onward.

My bad, yes. ---Earlier---

When Bimble asks Zubari about healing, he briefly looks to Trant who just rolls her eye and nods a 'go on' to him toward Sara. Zubari reaches out saying a brief prayer to Abadar as a warm healing energy flows from his hands into Sara, sealing her wounds.

---Now---

When Marcus gives the ok Capricia forges ahead opening the door. A hallway leads into a small room with another hallway branching off to the northeast. A graying wooden reception counter extends from the eastern wall of the small room, overshadowed by a faded, curling portrait of a group of several Taldan nobles. Comical alterations adorn the portrait, with red and green markings adding in stink lines, ridiculous mustaches, and other odd embellishments. A door exits to the west. Behind the counter you hear noises like someone riffling through something. As you approach, the noise stops and suddenly you see a kobold pop up from behind the desk, he looks at you startled for a moment then a big grin spreads across his face. He holds up his hands as a sign of peace and then speaks.

"តើមានបងប្អូនណាម្នាក់និយាយអួតខ្លួនឬទេ?" "என்ன ஆனந்தம்?" "Hoặc có thể là không đủ?" He is obviously trying to ask you something.

Otavio has troubles suppressing a laugh when they walk past the vandalized painting. Toilet humor tends to be flushed away without a second thought, but for the brief moment it exists it tends to get to Otavio pretty good. Is this how they should fight their Grand Prince? Bimble:
"Master Gnome, I was hoping you would speak your native tongue. One never knows for sure though... Anyway, I am Mimips and I am here gathering supplies to sell. Are you perhaps interested in purchasing some of my wares?" Obviously distracted by the potential of customers he forgets to answer your last question.

The kobold pulls up his pack and sets it on the counter top, pulling out various items and showing them off to you before he sits them down on the counter top for you to look at.

Gnomish:
"Very interesting, Mimips, I bet you don't meet too many folks down here. We can perhaps barter for goods, but could you tell us first where you came from to get here? We're looking to leave this manor."

Sara nods as she looks on more than a little fascinated, having never met a kobold before.

While he's at it, Bimble identifies the items in Mimips' possession, if he can. Spellcraft Checks

Potions: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Wand: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Bracers: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Cloak: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

When Bimble asks Mimips a question he points to the door to the west, opposite from the counter he is at. "មានអន្លង់មួយនៅខាងក្រោយទីនោះ។ វានាំទៅដល់ដីងងឹត។ នោះគឺជារបៀបដែលខ្ញុំចូលទៅ។"

He looks at each of the others in the group for a moment then shakes his head "ខ្ញុំមិនគិតថាអ្នកចង់យកវាទៅទីនោះទេ។ មានភាពភ័យរន្ធត់នៅក្នុងភាពងងឹតនៅក្រោមដី។ លើសពីនេះទៅទៀតខ្ញុំមិនដឹងថាតើវាសមទេរន្ធនោះតូចណាស់។"

Gnomish:
1"There is a sinkhole back there. It leads to the dark lands, that is how I got in."

2"I don't think you would want to take them down there. There are horrors in the deep darkness underground. Plus, I don't know if they would fit, the hole is pretty small."

As Bimble talks with the kobold he looks over the wears finding that there is a potion of barkskin, three potions of cure light wounds, a potion of remove disease, a wand of aqueous orb (1 charge), bracers of armor +1, and a cloak of resistance +1.

Bimble translates everything Mimips says, and also tells everyone what the wares are. "Guess we don't have a way out, but we might be better off trading some of our trade goods for these items, like maybe that cloak."

Looking at what they've collected, Bimble sees if the kobold had any interest in crystal glassware, jewelry, and/or cultural artifacts, hoping given the convenience of their chance meeting means that they could get a good deal.

Maybe we can see how much gold equivalent those items would be worth to the kobold and decide what we'll buy or not buy accordingly? Will he just buy stuff from us for gold?

He only has 92 silver, he prefers the barter system :D. Though he does have other stuff he might be willing to trade, namely his adventuring gear, if you were interested.

As Bimble shows him various items they have picked up along the way he seems intrigued by a good bit of it. He seems particularly interested in 'above ground' items like the cultural artifacts and glassware and less interested in weapons and gear.

I put some prices on things on the loot sheet. Between magical items and loot you've found you have plenty of trading power. While I would love to haggle I don't want to drag things out, so all of his items come with a 20% markup. He will trade a 5% premium on the cultural artifacts, glassware, and jewelry. A 20% premium on the portable alchemist lab. Everything else would be normal price.

Bimble tries to haggle but isn't particularly good. He reports the prices, which he notes are a little higher than normal.

Looks like we could trade Assorted Cultural Trophies (500gp x 1.05 = 525gp) and Glassware Dining Set (700gp x 1.05 = 735gp) for a Cloak of Resistance +1 with some spare change (1000gp x 1.2 = 1200gp).

"តើអ្វីទៅជាប្រភេទនៃការផ្សងព្រេងដែលអ្នកមានសម្រាប់ការធ្វើពាណិជ្ជកម្ម? គួរបញ្ជាក់ផងដែរ, វត្ថុបុរាណគួរឱ្យចាប់អារម្មណ៍ណាមួយពីតំបន់ងងឹតនេះ?"

Gnomish:
"What kind of adventuring gear do you have for trade? Also, any interesting artifacts from the darklands?"
