Thank you for accepting me!
Checking in with Mara. I started up the alias and profile, will finish it up tonight after work. I did have two questions
- do you prefer two aliases for PC and familiar or just one for both?
- is it safe to assume most standard gear is available in town? I prefer to just buy the absolute minimum essentials pre-game so that I can equip up in town based on what we need for wherever we're going first

@Mara -
For a familiar I'll leave it up to you. In the two other games that I am running, neither wizard/witch has a separate alias for their familiar.Yes standard gear is available in town.
@All - Roll/pick out your item for Bargain Hunting. You pay 90% of its value. If you do not have the cash after buying your equipment, it will still be available for you each time you come back into Roderic's Cove, however after this Chapter, it looks like you do not come back.

I've never made an alias before. Is there a resource for how you want it done?
HERE and HERE are two examples of how I like alias to be formatted. Damiel is a bard, and Rask a fighter/paladin.
Make something similar for Alustria.
Also please (@All) you see my DM id for what I would like to see in the race/class/level lines. thanks,

I set up my alias with a different format using spoilers and separating out categories more. If that's not ok I'll get it redone before we start up.
Bargain Hunting: 1d20 ⇒ 2 A piece of adventuring gear, clothing, food or drink, or trade good of your choice ... I haven't picked anything yet, but I'm wondering if this can apply to the kits (like Witches' Kit) or if it's just a single non-packaged item? The kits are officially in the "Adventuring Gear" table but they include multiple items.
Lastly (sorry I'm full of questions): In terms of the Sihedron Heroes, I do not have a character that played Rise of the Runelords so any guidance you have on creating one would be very appreciated. I assume you'd like that done before we start Tuesday as well.
Flik Gnilleps
Very excited for this campaign! Looking forward to playing with all of you.
I'll fill in this alias this weekend.
I'm in the same boat as Mara when it comes to a Sihedron Hero. Let me know how you want to proceed with that.
DM Papa.DRB
@All - If you have not played either Rise of the Runelords, nor Shattered Star and do not have a character for your Sihedron Hero, we can work one up. Give me a name, class, alignment and a brief personality of a hero, and I'll work something up with you. I know that Fergus has one, a 17th level bard, so we will work up a character of that level. I've got the first three adventures, and other than a mention, they play no part so far.

I think I got my alias set up!
I'll send you my idea for a hero soon.
I don't actually own Ultimate Equipment :( Does the PRD have a comprehensive list of what's in there?
Mara Cortescu
Nevermind on the kit question, unless someone else needs an answer. I found only one thing I really wanted that was in UE and not the CRB/APG and that was a familiar satchel (normally 25g I spent 22.5g). All gear is bought and profile is done unless you want me to reformat it.
Does the PRD have a comprehensive list of what's in there?
No the lists in the PRD are not complete. I have a pdf copy of it, once you roll to see what stuff you're eligible for I can try and copy out just that table for you so we aren't violating copyrights by me sharing the whole book.
Fergus Ironbeard
Thank you for choosing me and I look forward to adventuring with you all!

I don't have the UE either.
Mara Cortescu
Actually...I was kinda wrong. D20psfrd is incomplete, the new AoN PRD doesn't have a comprehensive list organized by book yet...but the old legacy PRD does have what you need. The link for Adventuring Gear (for those of us who rolled a 2) is HERE and the index to get you to other lists (if you rolled something else) is HERE

Bargain Hunting: 1d20 ⇒ 6
I've started both Rise of the Runelords and Shattered Star [Runelords like 4 times, getting as far as level 11 with a Gnome Alchemist (Beastform) ; Shattered Star to level 6 with a Half-Elven Cleric (Varisian Wanderer)]
In the rough/vague version of the backstory I presented I was imagining the first party I did Runelords with - or at least started it with (the GM took us into a homebrew after book one).
Anyhow - the party rogue was a female half-elf (Varisian) named Leandra Nir who was, in fact, the type to take in strays.
We made it to 15th. She was Rogue 9/, Pathfinder Delver 6. Joined the Pathfinders at Magnimar.
She was a Finesse Rogue, TWF Fighter who fought with paired short swords. In addition to usual rogue skills, maxed diplomacy and UMD (had a case full of scrolls and a belt of wands to go with).
I remember some of the feats and talents - if that'll help. (Finesse was taken as a rogue talent, also trap spotter, and major magic... And had Weapon Focus (short sword), TWF, Improved TWF, Combat Expertise, Gang Up, Combat Reflexes, and feinted when she couldn't flank - not sure how many feats in that chain she had.

Well I've only been in town a short while, I'm not actually from around here. I'm trying (so far unsuccessfully) to follow in my father's footsteps as a historian, and rumors of the recent activity in Roderick's Cove being associated with ancient Thassilon brought me to town to try and be on the forefront of a potential historical discovery in order to finally make my mark in the academic world.
So I'm not sure if I really would know anyone else in the group, but I might have run into some of you around town. I do have history as a caravan fortune-teller and sometime guard, so I could also know someone from being hired together to do some kind of travel or guarding job locally since I do need to have some way of supporting myself now that I'm here.
Mara Cortescu
Aldric, NG male human alchemist. Just in case when they do come up there should be a connection, I'd have him be someone my father worked with at the University. Before he became a lecturer/professor, he was an adventurer who went in search of new formulae, getting himself involved in either Rise or SS. He's generally friendly and doesn't seem very academic. Mara's father's stories of Aldric's transition from adventuring to teaching is actually what prompted her to come to Roderick's Cove, hoping that she could break into academia that way.

Another possibility is this: LINK
It's a GM resource thread here on Paizo where people have been posting pre-built Sihedron Heroes just for this AP, so those of us who don't have a pre-existing characters can just grab one instead of building a lvl 17/18 from scratch. Not sure if we would want to use it, what are your thoughts DM Papa?
Fergus Ironbeard
For my Sihedron Hero, I am using a character that I actually played in a Shattered Star Campaign to completion. He is also in a RotRL campaign I am playing in. The Runelords are strong with that one! :D
Mara Cortescu
@David - Saving build time sounds like a good plan. I took a look through them and like Glenlim the Archaeologist Bard. Direct link to the post is HERE for easy reference.
I'll even take the time to build him up in Hero Lab today if you want, so that a full profile can be exported easily. Let me know if that would help.
I think I'm ready for Tuesday now, as long as you're OK with my build and profile setup.
Flik Gnilleps
Profile updated.
Hunting for Bargains: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Looking for a weapon.
For our Hero, is it okay if its from non-core material? I have an oracle statted out to a high level, but definitely uses material from all over the place.
DM Papa.DRB
For your Sihedron Hero it is fine to use non core material.
If you wish to stat the hero up in Hero Lab that is fine, and export it into a spoiler in your alias. Otherwise just copy the information from the build in that link into a spoiler in your characters alias.
-- david
Mara Cortescu
I'm glad I did stat him up in HL. I ended up discovering that he had 11 unused skill points...so I put them in perform(sing). It seemed kind of odd that they built a bard without any perform skill so it seemed the best fit.
I'm all set now. I'll be checking the thread but I'll stop bombarding with constant posts until we start up gameplay :)
Flik Gnilleps
Great. I added mine to a spoiler. Currently he's at 15th, but I'll level him up when I get a chance. The hero should be 17th?
Alustria Wintersbreath
I used the link and grabbed Josep Zoltan, a CG Human Male Inquisitor. Sheet is posted to the alias in spoiler form :)
@Mara Caravan fortune tellers are exactly the kind of people that Alustria would hang out with!
Flik Gnilleps
Flik could have run into any of you pretty easily in his travels across Varisia as an itinerant bookseller. He's kind of a "friends in every town" kind of guy.
Tilnar
Borgol's been in town for four months -- and working as a hunter to support himself (I was thinking mostly a deal with an Innkeeper, trading meat for room and board, selling furs for new arrows, etc.)
So the meeting would almost certainly have happened in Roderic's Cove - but it's a small town, so it could be pretty much anything - at the Inn would be easiest, but not necessary.
Fergus Ironbeard
@Mara: If it is an Archaeologist bard, then they have other things in lieu of perform.
Fergus is in town for a life of adventure like his cousin Cordwin (who is the Sihedron Hero for him (and an archaeologist bard)).
As a budding adventurer, he would have most likely met Borgol in the tavern. As someone who developed a love of lore and tradition -and books, he would probably have met Flik that way.
Borgol Ashblade
Ok, so, alias created. Just need to copy the hero to it.
Borgol Ashblade
Ok, like I said, built from what I remember, mostly. Anyhow, in my profile, there's now a Level 18 rogue/pathfinder delver. ;)
DM Papa.DRB

DM Papa.DRB
@All - Remember, you pay 90% of the price.
If you can not afford what you have "chosen" now, by the end of this chapter you will be 5th level with the appropriate gold / equipment so you might/should be able to afford something magical @ the 90% price.
-- david
Borgol Ashblade
I'm thinking it'll probably be masterwork thieves tools. But I can't quite afforda them yet.
Flik Gnilleps
Sounds good. I'm going to just admire the fine selection of weapons now, coming back for something magical later.
DM Papa.DRB
Sorry if I was not clear. I need a specific item for the Bargain Hunting roll. Make sure it is something that could be bought with 5th level wealth as you leave this town around then and so far (1st three chapters) don't come back.
-- david
Flik Gnilleps
I'll go with an adamantine dagger for my weapon.
Borgol Ashblade
Oh, would that include magical versions of standard gear? I assumed that I was stuck on masterwork tools or alchemical goods at best.
Mara Cortescu
No I think you were correct, it shouldn't include magical versions for the gear. Masterwork is probably the best you can get unless GM states otherwise.
DM Papa.DRB
You can request anything you wish from the UE, including magical gear. However you need to be able to afford it by the time you reach 5th level (best case 5 * 10,500 gp)
/snark on (hehe)
So if you think that by 5th level you can afford a Holy Avenger at 90% of base price (120,630 gp * .9) go for it....
/snark off
-- david
Mara Cortescu
I thought we were confined to our roll though. I was referring to the fact that Borgol and I got "adventuring gear" on our roll, which I didn't think includes magical items. I thought those were only if you'd rolled a 20. If we can get magical gear I might rethink my selection since a familiar satchel really isn't that outstanding an item.
Fergus Ironbeard
Yes! Clarification please! I too rolled for adventuring gear, and as the 'tank' of the party, a MW waterskin just isn't that useful! :D
I will smite you with my waterskin, demon!
Whap!Whap!Whap!
