Laafdahni murmurs to Lekki, who is the only one standing near enough to murmur to: "It seems these 'guards' may be bought and paid for, and itching for a fight." She then realizes that he's bound to mishear her. Shaking her head, she switches her focus to what she must do.

Laafdahni casts Mage Armor on herself and moves a bit closer to Osten, hoping to be able to catch two guards in her Color Spray once they move closer together.

Osten knows on some level that he should seek to keep these 'guards' alive. However, the frustration he has felt during his time on this plane as taken its toll. He eagerly allows his blood to boil as he takes a wild swing at the nearest guard.

"I hate being right," Leyten says as the guards' true nature becomes apparent. Feeling inspired by both Rumble's action and Lekki's spell, he unleashes a blast of pinkish-gray energy at the "guard" who's preparing a spell.

Leyten attacks one of the spellcasters (looks like the Green one) with kinetic blast. The guard appears to be within 30 feet, so I don't need to use Extended Range.
Kinetic Blast attack: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 2 = 13

As Lekki shakes him, Leyten mutters, "Uh, what?" and then he opens his eyes and see what is happening.

An immense building crafted from blue marble rests atop a crystalline dais with a central staircase connecting it to a stone courtyard below. Delicately carved scrollwork adorns the exterior walls, which are inlaid with rows of sapphire. A silver crest hangs above an open pair of imposing doors, which offer a glimpse into the lobby beyond. The rush of water resounds from the imposing waterfall encircling the perimeter of the Azure Hall. Strings of bubbles float in the air around the Hall, faint light glowing from within the glossy orbs.

The lobby and central galleries of the Azure Hall are open to guests. However, the Cobalt Gallery is located in the east wing, which is currently closed due to the recent renovation and will not be open to the public until after the grand reopening the following week.

There is a front desk with a clerk sitting behind it.

Walking in, and playing along with the plan, the old bird begins the ploy. Ooooh, Laafdahni! I told you this place was open. Why would there be this young clerk at the front desk if not to let inquisitive minds such as ours visit! This is the Cobalt Gallery right? It is this whole building! We have come to the right place! ...hello there, miss? mister? Could you please tell my younger colleague that we are in luck and you will let us in?

Diplomacy: 11 + 10 + 1 = 22 while subtly and quietly without any verbal components casting guidance on himself...? He will use Touch of Law on himself if that is allowed.

Lekki will also give her his weird eye and use his Mesmerist hypnotic stare ability, only to be weird.

As soon as Laafdahni spots the receptionist, she attempts to discern how easy or difficult it will be to convince them to let the Pathfinders access the Azure Hall.

With a warm, disarming chuckle, Laafdahni plays along in the hopes that she can help the situation: "Haha! You see, our stay on this plane is due to conclude before the grand opening of the Cobalt Gallery, but we have been tasked by our superiors to look up some information in a book that is supposedly housed within. Is there any way we could take a look at it?"

Leyten knows that a close-up view of his face is more likely to upset the clerk, so he stays several feet behind Laafdahni and Lekki and tries to gauge the clerk's reaction.

The clerk gives the bland customer service smile that is universally recognized on all planes of existence as he is approached by Lekki. He starts to shake his head no when Laafdahni arrives and asks to be let into the Cobolt Gallery.

He stops mid shake and his jaw drops just a little. "Um well it's closed you see... I can't just go letting anyone in. But... he looks around carefully. "I think I can make an exception for you and your friends."

He fills out some forms, and hands them to Laafdahni. "This will get you into the gallery. You have a couple of hours before the guards will get curious." He points to the right.

Presenting the papers get you past the guards with no violence.

Mahogany bookshelves encircle the walls of the chamber with two rows of freestanding shelves spanning its length. Desks and chairs of varying sizes offer seating accommodation for the library’s diverse patrons. Small tendrils of mist spiral up from the vapor fountain in the middle of the room—an elegant display of anchored cyclones. An open door on the western wall empties out into a hallway, and a ladder near the eastern wall leads up to the second floor balcony. The ceiling reaches sixty feet from the floor and is painted with a mural of imperious djinn soaring in the sky. The most striking details of the room, however, are the thick clouds suspended in the air between the balcony and the ceiling. Atop these stationary clouds rest additional bookshelves, chairs, desks, and podiums.

DC 18 Perception:
The Primordial Key of Ilyralene is hidden in a secret compartment within one of the floating bookshelves on a cloud 40 feet above the second floor balcony.

Even though he has no idea what the word means, Osten knows that 'innocuous' is not a word that describes him. He hangs back with Leyton, hoping the distance will make him seem less imposing.

Laafdahni leans forward (only to rest her arm on the edge of the desk, of course!) and purrs: "Oh, thank you so much! We really appreciate your help." When he hands her the forms, she makes sure to gently and innocently drag her fingertips over his hand, almost in slow motion. There! That ought to keep him from second guessing his decision.

Gazing around the impressive gallery, Laafdahni first exclaims breathlessly, then muses: "Oh, it's beautiful! Look at the bookshelves on the clouds! I would certainly enjoy going up there to take a closer look. Now where would 'The Primordial Key of Ilyralene' be? Pity I didn't ask the receptionist." She begins searching the gallery as she works her way up to the clouds with shelves on them, because she really wants to examine that more closely.

Between Lekki and Laafdahni they realize that the The Primordial Key of Ilyralene is hidden in a secret compartment within one of the floating bookshelves on a cloud 40 feet above the second floor balcony.

How you figure that out from the ground floor I have no idea, but we're going with it. :)

Laafdahni was working her way up there, so perhaps she spotted it later in her perusal.

Upon discovering the secret compartment, Laafdahni waves the others over and begins examining it closely.

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

When the others are all gathered around, she mentions: "However we address this, we must make sure to leave no trace if at all possible. Now, does anyone have experience with disarming traps or picking locks? I would be very surprised if we do not need both skills." She then shares with the group what she observed while examining the secret compartment.

Every page has the same riddle written on it in Auran. However, if the reader speaks in a different language while the book is open and within 10 feet of the tome, the words shift to match the language of the spoken words.

She reads it aloud to the group, her volume just high enough for those gathered around her to hear.

Hmm... It sounds like 'wind' could be the answer. It certainly fits the theme of this plane and of Lord Ranginori. It is a rather simplistic riddle if the answer is 'wind', though. What do you think?"
