Grigori did not attack you Aaron NPC 4 did and I rolled a 20 so you can't dodge a natural 20 even if crit confirmation failed. Nope Natural 20 are always considered a hit or in case of a ride skill you would be " invulnerable" to a lot of things that moment

Got it. The mech rules do seem biased toward defense, it's good that there's at least a chance of ending a fight quickly...

Just waiting on Grigori now ^^ for this round. Yeah they seem somewhat biased towards defense but consider that 2-3 hits by another Mech can pretty much just destroy yours

So NPC4 is still up?

"Heh, finally got rid of the axe guy." Girgori mutters as he looks around. Spotting a rival team member, Girgori tightens his grip on his scythe and charges, bringing his weapon down in an arc...

Power Attack
Scythe:1d20 + 5 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 2 - 1 = 21
Damage:2d6 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 1) + 6 + 3 = 13
Ride Check:1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24

Round 7

Henk moves in to attack his new target ignoring the other two next to him, delivering a solid blow into the enemy M.G. low dice roll this guy has high dex F*&^#$!! screams the man as he attempt to strike Henk back Henk Ride DC 24.

Brand Moves towards the closest M.G. and takes a swing with his sword but he hits solid armor just getting a metallic sound and scraped paint as reward for his effort.

Aaron takes his weapon in a defensive posture trying to fend of the unexpected attack of the backstabbing enemy, but missing in his efforts to hit back.

Grigori Heh, finally got rid of the axe guy with an eerie smile in his face as he now focuses in a new target and makes the best of it as his enemy is now wounded and why not add a little bit of the pain he is carrying also. Scythe tears a nice part off the enemy M.G. as he is unable to move out of the way Poor NPC4 even his high dex wont save him

Bram moves ever closer to his intended objective.

Mech Pilot

Aaron was not happy with himself for managing to maneuver into a situation that gave so few tactical options, but there was nothing to be done about it now. He continues to pilot his MG carefully and methodically until he sees an opening- there! Just as his opponent raises his scythe Aaron lashes out with his axe and steps inside the arc of the scythe, batting it aside with his shield. The axe cuts deep into the pilot's chamber and for a moment Aaron expects to blood seep through the rent in the layers of armor... the A.C.E. was so realistic it was easy to forget it was all just an illusion.

Rolls:
AC: +10 armor, +4 DEX, +2 shield, -1 size = 25
Attack: +4 STR, +2 BAB, -1 size = +5

Standard action: Attack @ Grigori: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 252d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 4) + 4 = 11
Critical threat! 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 244d6 + 8 ⇒ (2, 5, 1, 1) + 8 = 17 = 28 damage if confirmed
Ride check: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34

As the mech he was facing disintegrates, Aaron turns to NPC4 and shouts "Are you ready to finish what you started?"

Male Half-orc Warpriest 1

Ride 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

EDIT: Missed the Ride check - How much damage do I take?

Henk continues to attack his opponent with his longsword.

Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Damage 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Just waiting on the rest to post as this fight is near it's end

Feeling somewhat angry at being attacked by a teammate, Grigori continues his attack on the enemy.

Power Attack
Scythe:1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 5 - 1 = 18
Damage:2d6 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4) + 6 + 3 = 14

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

I just have one question, do you want to roll out the PVP or just a random winner as you all still pass the test anyway

Mech Pilot

No real preference here, but I would prefer to get on with the story relatively soon. This fight could potentially drag on for a while...

Male Half-Elf Fighter / 2

Random is alright with me.

Male Half-orc Warpriest 1

Ditto - I think we have the hang of it.

GM W.R. Monger

After a long day of grueling fights were you were just moved into different rooms with different environments to fight other opponents you all made it out to the last fight as Bram beats Rhune for the title.

After this fight is over all successful applicants are send to a lobby guided by a beautiful staffer.

The name is Niza, I will be your guide to your new barracks, unit and other important places, but first let us go to the lobby were you are to be congratulated as graduates. as she leads the way out of the Aedis room and through plenty of corridors until you reach a big two sided door and she just steps aside and bids you to go inside.

Male Half-orc Warpriest 1

Henk sidles into the room, looking around.

Does he see anything interesting?

Male Half-Elf Fighter / 2

Bram follows Niza silently as the group makes their way to the door. Once inside the room he looks around to see if he can find a seat.

Mech Pilot

Aaron stepped out of the ACE simulator drained, bedraggled and exhausted- but triumphant. He'd made it!

The day's repeated adrenaline highs left him in a bit of a daze as he followed Niza out of the simulator. At the mention of a guided tour Aaron pulls out a notebook, he doesn't trust his memory to keep track of names or places right now... all he wants to do is sleep for 12 hours. He almost misses her comment about meeting peopple in the lobby; he's hopeful that Sergeant Davros himself will be there to congratulate them and he quickly straightens out his uniform and hopes he doesn't look as grimy as he feels.

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

The moment you enter you see Sgt Davros in a podium with another 3 men and Fillmur the only woman to make it through. Immediately later you notice a bunch of people in military uniforms seated around the podium just leaving a stretch line so only one at a time can walk through it and reach the podium. The people are whispering as some point at you, some giggle as some just nod their head in acknowledgement while there is always a few pompous bastards that think they are greater than life.

Sgt. Davros walks closer and begins to speak This are the last pilots, just finished their fight, welcome the newest M.G. pilots as he begins to applaud and all in attendance stand up and applaud you until you reach the podium. You can do small role playing here or skip straight to the podium

After you role play amongst yourselves, people of the crowd or not

Perception DC 15

Spoiler:
You notice there are barely any female pilots you could safely say its a 2 out of 10 ratio, making about 80% of the attendance male and about 15-20% female

Perception DC 20

Spoiler:
You notice Fillmur looks at the group of you with hatred that you can feel it in your skin like someone is poking you with an ice pick, but can't really tell who from the distance.

Sgt. Davros goes to his seat as he picks a box containing your new insignias and rank to wear with your uniforms, stopping each of you shacking your hands and congratulate you wholeheartedly.

I will present them all to you all: as he points to each one of you and stand up.

Alissa Fillmur
Aaron Lockley
Bram Dryerlyth
Grigori Faust III
Henk Smarne
Aidan Rhune
Brand Hawkens
Stephan Reigar
Ikatsu Moritomo
Urimo Plessa

This is a special year 7 members of a team made it to the final and we have decided to keep them together adding to them the other 3 that qualified as he turns and looks at each of you. I will grant each of you a special request and allow you to name your own unit as well as your unit commander as he begins walking around the podium In addition I will allow a slight modification to your units for the exceptional performance

The crowd is not very pleased with all the concession or some of them, as many of them already have some things but it seems you are getting the full package.

Well let us give them a rest as I will escort you to your unit barracks as he stops suddenly if any of you want to get switched to another unit I will not allow it unless there is a special circumstance which is highly unlikely that I will accept anyway then he moves forward again like nothing happened.

Male Half-orc Warpriest 1

perception1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

Male Half-orc Warpriest 1

Henk looks around to the group and shrugs his shoulders. "Looks like show time." He does his best to look nonchalant as he walks up to the podium, nodding in acknowledgement to the men. He stops in front of the one female pilot, tipping his hat. "Ma'am." He raises an eyebrow in curiosity and gives her a lopsided smile.

When Sgt. Davros hands over the insignia, Henk shakes his hand and does whatever else is appropriate (salute?). He says, "Thanks for the vote of confidence, sergeant, you won't regret it."

What is our new rank, and how does it relate to Sgt. Davros?

When they get back to the barracks, Henk says, "I never had much of a mind for pickin' names, but I reckon I vote for Bram as our leader, seein' as how he kicked all our asses in the fight."

Perception:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

"I vote for Bram as well." Grigori says as he gets used to the idea of being an official pilot now, attaching his black rose insignia to his suit. "I think I'll name my mech Charon. Grandfather would be proud."

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

Those questions can be asked to Sgt. Davros as he escorts you ^^ He is pretty open but people find him very intimidating, he does this on purpose to avoid people who don't have good questions to ask him.

Male Half-Elf Fighter / 2

Perception:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Bram follows silently before asking "Sgt Davros Sir, what did you mean by special request?"

Male Half-orc Warpriest 1

"Yeah, and what does this new rank mean...sir?"

Mech Pilot

Perception check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

As they are walking to the barracks, Aaron hears Henk's comment and nods in agreement, "The job's yours if you want it, Bram. That was quite the showing in the ACE... I can't wait to see you on the battlefield."

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

You are basically all officers because of the most special case this of almost a whole unit made it to the final stage is something unheard of as he stops for a second Special request for your units, your new rank allows it, most people add some sort of enhancement within the budget assigned to their rank

Ranks

Spoiler:

Hound = Private
Orthros = Officer
Cerberus = Captain
Hellhound = General

Your current rank is Orthros, because each unit of ten usually has 2 heads, hence the name. as he keeps walking. I expect a color scheme for your unit, name of the unit, enhancements according to your rank

Will post the list in the discussion thread with the available ones

Bram if you are the leader you must name a second one in command, since usually operations are made on 5 man teams on certain occasions. then he stops on his tracks and turns around and looks at Bram as if he could burn him with his eyes I will hold you responsible in a very personal level if something happens to my daughter... and turns around as nothing happened and keeps walking ahead until you reach a door that goes to the outside. [b[Any more questions?

Male Half-Elf Fighter / 2

Bram nods after hearing Sgt Davros, his face than goes blank as Sgt Davros speaks about his daughter.

Mech Pilot

Once again the old Army wisdom proves its truth- never volunteer for anything! Aaron didn't really want any part in managing a unit full of egotistical pilots, keeping up with the administrative duties of a squad leader, and dealing the extra attention of having Davros's daughter as a subordinate on top of everything else. He just wanted his chance on the battlefield...

The accolades and promotion and other perks heaped on them at their graduation had taken him by surprise at first, but in the context of having Sgt. Davros's daughter of the team it all made sense. He wanted to make her look good, and was grooming her for success. He wasn't sure how he felt about that... it would be nice to have the extra rank (and the pay that went with it) but he didn't really feel that they'd earned it, no matter how good their showing had been in the ACE.

As they walked to the barracks he idly wondered why the woman didn't share her father's family name.

Male Half-orc Warpriest 1

Henk raises an eyebrow when he learns that their female team member is Sgt Davros' daughter. Things just got complicated.

He keeps his eyes open and his mouth shut, listening to any conversations but just basically waiting for the sergeant to leave.

Slammed busy right now - I'll level up soon.

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

Alright, level up you got a bit of a down time and I posted the upgrades available to your M.G. units

As Sgt. Davros continues walking you to your barracks you find yourselves entering another big building This are the barracks were every M.G. unit is located we currently have a total of around 1,000 pilots at any given time he turns around and takes a peek at you all That includes you also as he keep walking around My daughter shall be arriving later on to discuss the matters we have already spoken of.

The building looks to you what would seem like a housing complex and the sturdiness and design of a stronghold mixed together, it is of white coloring with the Ozmorian flag in the middle.

As you reach the main doors they are made of glass and open automatically when you are close enough New thing our researchers have come up with, this sliding door things, most people think its haunted as Sgt. laughs for a moment. When the doors open you see a busy lobby were most people are passing by to go to another place in the complex, there is a reception counter with some employees giving some instructions or taking orders and in the middle of it there is a map of the place. Now your barrack is number 132 you should be able to find it in that map, and if you need to take a map with you go to the counter and they will give you one, but if you want more than one it's going to cost you, so don't loose it and learn your way around

Sgt. Davros turns around to look at you I must take my leave as I have something important to do, but there is everything you need here, from engineering classes to fix and upkeep your M.G. and tools to help you with it, training facilities and instructors of many type for you, as well as an arena which I am pretty sure you will find out soon enough how the inside the barracks work compared to the real ranks, well good luck with all and any questions they will provide your answers in the reception. as he waits for a moment in case you have any questions before he goes away.

Perception DC 15

Spoiler:
You notice there are two metal doors on the sides of the wall that would probably close in case of an emergency.

Male Half-orc Warpriest 1

perception 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25

Hm.

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

Well then have a good day I want your answers in 48hrs. as Sgt. waves you good bye and leaves.

Male Half-Elf Fighter / 2

Bram salutes before trying to find their new barracks.

Mech Pilot

After a long and exhausting day, Aaron really wants nothing more than to collapse into a bed, cot, bunk... whatever they have for him in the barracks. As far as he was concerned, it was "Unit Commander Dryerlyth's" job to meet with Davros's daughter and work out whatever needed to be discussed. They could wake him up if there was something really important that needed to be discussed as a unit, but for now he planned on using at least half of those 48 hours to catch up on the sleep he'd shorted himself on during the exams.

Male Half-orc Warpriest 1

"Well I guess I'll hit the sack as well." Henk looks thoughtful, then adds. "I like Bram's Bravos for our unit name, but I'm sure someone can come up with something better. I plan to start my mech upgrade tomorrow unless the boss-man has other plans."

He gives Bram an opportunity to give any orders that would prevent him from getting some sleep. If he hears none, he'll get a map and try to find their barracks.
