Background:
Some people don’t always stay dead. Some get brought back from the brink the correct way, with powerful spells or sent back by their deity, even coming back in a different body if Nature so wills it. Then there those like Grigori, who were brought back from the realm of the dead by darker forces people were never meant to know about.
Grigori was born into a family of noble knights devoted to Mitral twenty years ago, and was well on his way to becoming a knight himself when, on his thirteenth birthday, raiders attacked his hometown. Most of his family was slaughtered protecting civilians. Grigori was not so lucky. Captured by the Raiders and used to shield them from arrows as they retreated, he soon found himself wishing for death. How could he know his wish would be granted? In a drunken rage one of the raiders, among other things, killed Grigori the day before his rescue party arrived.
Insane with grief, his grandfather took him deep into the family crypt and performed a corrupted funeral. When Grigori rose and realized what his grandfather had down, bile rose in his throat and he struck the old man down with a burst of necromantic energy. He hadn't wanted to come to a world where Mitral would allow her faithful to suffer like he had. He'd have his revenge...
It took him three years to realize what he had become. He did not age. He had powers he'd never dreamed of... and something kept speaking to him through the doll he had found. He'd been drawn to it, and the soft voice had whispered magic into his mind. Magic he used to summon a kornugon. Or try to. His lack of aging had caught the attention of the Sir Balin and landed him in prison with yet another scar to remind him of all he would one day kill, and he would do anything to achieve that goal.
