She takes the stairs slowly one at a time, the Beowulf always sweeping ahead of her. She is alert and ready for anything.

Dave follows, the Korth in one hand, crowbar in the other.

Johnnie pointing the shotgun at the elevator's doors, "Ready once these doors open."

Patrick stares at the elevator doors, Anaconda at the ready, a bead of sweat dripping down his cheek.

"Man it feels like I've been waiting days for this friggin' elevator to get here!"

;)

"No elevator music...."

Patrick looks over at Johnnie.

"Wait.. I think I hear it.

I just got in trouble 'cause I LOL'd when I played that and the kids are asleep (10.46pm here).

Sorry bro! ;)

Heh, that's OK... it's not the first time and it probably won't be the last! ;)

Aaaarrrrgggghhh. My Post Count for Sam has been sitting on 229 since Friday and it's driving my mild OCD nuts!!! I have to Post just to get it to 230! =)

Mike's got another song stuck in his head.

DING!

It's empty inside. More or the dragons (these wrought in fine looking cherry) you feel like you've been staring at all week.

Do you get in.

MEANWHILE.

The stairs are opulently carpeted, curve gracefully as the reach up to the next floor, and are and broad, offering daring possibilities in a gun fight.

What I've been writing was so completely the opposite of what I do here at Paizo that I could no longer even LOOK at Paizo and be able to continue doing my job. Had I done so, it would have certainly fragmented my psyche and left me a gibbering madman for the remainder of my pathetic life.

You have my humblest apologies.

Shucks, we've all been there. Good to see yeh back boyo!

Buzz downed. Things move so slowly... yet so fast.

Dave Judd wrote:

A continuous mural of Chinese mountains, rivers, villages and fishermen sweeps along the outside of the rounded stairwell.

Patrick enters the elevator and awaits Johnnie.

"Onwards and upwards bro."

Just enough adrenaline. Just enough zombies. Just enough firepower.

Life is good.

This is a happy girl.

Cord Vogel wrote:

A load gurgling noise echoes as the elevator door opens.

Cord is still staying downstairs? Loco.

I approve of that music for our elevator.

A catchy tunes seeps out as the doors open.

Good to have you back from your Ethereal Jaunt to the Abyss. ;)
Sam reaches the top of the stairs, Dave following a short distance behind her. Both have their guns pointed ahead of them, with Dave casting the odd glance back towards the bottom.
The Adrenaline is pumping as they prepare to explore the horrors of the second floor.
Is there a door (open/closed?) at the top of the stairs or is it open to a second level balcony?

Good to have you back.
Cord is not dirty or hungry enough to be tempted upstairs.

Welcome back, Kruelaid.

Samantha Bastian wrote:

Oh my yes! The door is ajar. I suspect you will shove it a bit with your rifle barrel, won't you...

The door opens silently.

Sam and Judd:

The stairwell you are in continues up to the third level above you. There are no signs of blood or struggle in any way here.

Sam pushes the second floor door open gently. To your right you hear the sound of the elevator ascending, just a muffled hum and clatter through the wall.

The heavy door swings out into a room about 35 feet across and stretching 100 feet or so, in total, left and right. It's all one finely furnished room. A long dinner table, a pool table, a fire place, gorgeous Corinthian leather sofas, a small tree, a centrally located wrought iron circular staircase... and far off to your right a beautiful cherry bar, directly opposite a spacious open kitchen, off to your left.

It's gorgeous and exactly what you'd expect from a triad boss in Vancouver.

And it looks lived in. Cans and bottles on the bar. Pizza boxes, empty Chinese take-out, used chopsticks, all over the sofa, pool table, and kitchen counters. A few knives here there...

Depending on how you look at the day, what doesn't seem to fit in is the arc welder sitting on the floor next to the pool table. The acetylene torch. The sleel plates. The grinder. The chopsaw. The concrete rebar. A few 4 x 8 pieces of plywood. The blood stains and body parts thereupon, and the huge, shirtless, blood caked fat man with steel plate chest armor, a wok on his belly, and a home built welded helmet on his head. He looks like he's about 300 lbs or more without steel and has surely been spending most of his life wandering between tattoo parlors, Chinese restaurants, and gyms. Right now he's about 15 feet away from you and looking, presumably, straight at you through his rebar reinforced eyeslits. Drool is running down his neck between a neck plate and the chest. There is a cleaver welded onto a makeshift steel arm-guard on his left forearm.

Basically, it looks like a really sick puppy watched Iron Man and then geared up a z-ified buddy.

Johnny and Sarge:

The Musak drones. Johnny and Sarge stand for a few moments listening uncomfortably, then the door opens on the above (see post for Sam and Judd).

Roll for group init...

Nowhere to run in that elevator, eh?

I vaguely remember Sam telling Mike to stay with Cord in case he went Z. Should I stay with him or go with the elevator crew?

Up to you...

Think I'm gonna stay with Cord. More cinematic that way. And less chance of you making him change while everyone's upstairs.

Downstairs

It's pretty quiet. The elevator rattles and hums upward.

The dead guys finally stop bleeding.

Hey Kruel, good to see you.

13 unmodified group init.

Let's see how unlucky that makes us...

"Holy f*ckin' sh!t..." breathes Dave at the sight of ... whatever that is in front of them.

Female Human (Caucasian; Australian) Fast Hero 4

Sam's breath catches as she sees the monstrosity in front of them.
Without even thinking she fires a shot with the Beowulf.
Attack Roll on... "Fat Zombie Thing". (1d20+5=24)
Damage Roll. (2d12=12)
Hopefully that will make Sam and Dave a target and mean that Pat and Johnnie won't get caught in the lift. Although in saying that Johnnie will go before Sam, so we'll see.

Fighter Level 9

Bet you all wish you were down stairs with zombie fireman now?

Init at 19.

"Sarge! Is that a Z?!" Punches the close door button.

Oh yeah, Initiative is 16.

And if he is within 30' of us then +1 Attack & Damage from PBS as well.

Patrick gapes at the undead Iron Man parody

"Let's pump a few rounds in it just in case!"

Patrick squeezes off a quick shot before the doors close.

1d20+5=18, 2d8=5

If Hong Kong Gooey is within 30' add +1 to Atk and Dam

Sam's rifle erupts with thunder and flame. The shoulder aches but she's learned to be careful how she holds the Anglo-Saxon legend....

Her ears ring. The .50 punches through the chest plate and knocks Iron Wong back a few inches - blood gushes from the hole.

Sarge leaves a jagged hole near its left kidney... you can see the thick lard as a flap of skin lolls drunkenly onto its hip.

It bends low and readies itself for a charge, lifts the cleaver, a hollow snarl within the helmet.

Round 1 Init

Everyone then Iron Man... (Sam and Sarge have fired)

How far away is the pool table? Would Judd be able to get to / behind / under it without getting within reach of Fat Huey? I presume it’s a full sized table. Any cues lying around?

70 feet and a jump over the sofa on the way. You'll pass by Iron Man on the way but not close enough for an AoO.

>>>>>The penthouse is based on this, but not exact...<<<<<

Like West drew it but only one elevator and a circular stairwell. So stairway to pool table about 70 feet, hurdling the sofa on the way. Iron Man is between the tree and the circular staircase up to level 2.

So which way is he facing for his charge, towards Dave & myself or Pat & Johnnie? If it's us then we have a little breathing space (unless he moves like a speed junkie hepped up on goofballs. If it's them, we could be in for a world of hurt!

You guys are coming out of the north wall. On the map you see three elevators. In our penthouse there is only one and it is right next to the stairwell. SO basically Johnny and Sarge are right next to you, just inside a 5x5 box.

Ahhh. for some reason I had pictured us on either ends of the room (them on the West Wall, us on the East), with Fat Elvis in the middle near the table.

Oh dear so he is actually quite close then...

Dave doesn’t know how much damage his Korth Combat is going to do against this … thing, if Sam’s shot doesn’t knock it down. He glances about, getting a quick idea of the room layout, sees Johnnie and Sarge in the narrow confines of the elevator.

“Spread out!”

He races off across the room, just outside of Wok Boy’s reach, vaulting over a couch at the far end of the room Jump: 14+9 = 23, a jump that turns into a dive under the pool table, where he skids to a halt, crouched underneath it at the far end (I’m thinking in the square that is partially under the lower left hand corner of the table).
