Aramis Steele
Aramis narrows her eyes at Diabolito. "Well, tha' ain't a good sign," she mutters. As the dwarf and Malak begin searching for tracks, she keeps her eyes open, glancing around for danger.
Making a general perception check at 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24, just in case danger's afoot.
Doc Williams
Heal: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
"It is rather odd to scrimshaw the bones and then gnaw on them. Perhaps the source of the two is different? Also why tether skeletons out here?" Doc says as he watches the bodies adjacent to boat.
When they arrive at the landing point, Doc hops out with the others and takes a look around.
Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20
Diabolito Stormbeard
That's just FAR too ironic, Doc. But GM, Diabolito noticed it, thought it was strange but was like "If we had more time, they'd be interesting to study; BUT we got people that've gone missing and could be getting eaten."
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
"A good question, lad. Nuttin' I've been able ta figgar makes much sense. Maybe those nasty little tentacles, whatever they belonged to, were leaving bodies out there after they were done playing."

Survival: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Malak picks up a few of the coconuts and sniffs them before tossing them down and spitting at them. He then looks at the trees and sand, sniffing like a dog. "Does the lil' devil notice anything? Mayhaps we can track 'em somewheres. Just how big is this isle anyways? I don' give a damn if'n they eat the Vudrani, she tried to kill me, but we need to protect 'n save Sandara. Fast."
GM Hills
Aramis: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Maera: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Doc: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Malak: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Diabolito: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Nissa: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Crabs!: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
SURPRISE!!!
Doc just before the things get out of hand with three giant crabs crawling out of trees, you spot one moving.
Doc, you and you alone may take a surprise round action. Then it's the crabs, then we go to regular initiative. In other news, I thought I posted this 7 hours ago when I saw that it wasn't there...ugh
Doc Williams
Doc calls out to his mates, "Look sharp, we've got dinner! I mean crabs, but probably dinner!"
Swinging with his dagger, he takes a swipe at the crab nearest him, attempting to get it in between the crab's armored plates.
Attack/Damage: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 201d4 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + (3, 5) = 12
Crab should be flat-footed since it hasn't acted yet I believe. If not, it's only 4 damage.
GM Hills
The crab quickly takes a swat back at Doc, having felt the sting of his blade.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
But fails to grab the large man.
One crab moves toward Aramis, looking vicious with it's large claws.
The final crab takes a swipe at Diabolito...
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Grapple: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Tearing into the dwarf, the claw slashes a massive wound into him, but fails to actually grasp him.
It should be noted that the three large rocks on the map are actually trees. There isn't a map for this encounter, so I had to find one
Heroes! Round 1...FIGHT!
Aramis Steele
Was there an attack on me, or were all those dice for Diabolito?
Aramis jumps back from the crab, laughing despite the size of its claws. "Well, guess this explains tha coconuts, eh?" she grins, taking aim at the unfortunate crustacean and firing. She fumbles for a new bullet, still grinning broadly.
5-foot shift back, firing at 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 vs touch AC for 1d12 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10. Reloading as a move action.
Diabolito Stormbeard
The old dwarf will get his revenge. Out of curiosity, are those crabs aquatic or water subtype? If so, my AC would be 17 (I get +1 to attack and +2 to AC) against them, which means the second wouldnt have hit! :)
Bleeding heavily, the dwarf growls low and grips his axe with both hands, swinging and hoping to cut deep into the beastie!
Swing: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 1 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
So close to a crit!
The little dwarf's bloodied determination pays off, cutting deep into crustacean shell, sending pieces flying.
Doc Williams
Doc moves around to the side and takes another stab at the crab.
Attack (Hit/Damage): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 51d4 ⇒ 3
The earlier attack should've been +4 to hit as far as I can tell. Not sure how I ended up with 6 listed on my sheet.
Malak Wavecrasher
|
Not going to use power attack or rage. Rather, just going to strike at the crab that hit Diabolito. Figured that the tree is not acually as large as that rock is. If I am unable to then I will just use activation of the trident and hit the crab next to Doc.
Malak sees the crab hit by his dwarf crew mate and can tell that it can be felled. "Watch yer head lil' one!" The half-orc towering over the Lil' Devil hollers before he begins to jab his trident at the crab, hoping to end its life before it can cause any extra harm.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Nissa Alami
Stepping up beside her friend Aramis, Nissa lashes the crab with her ebon blade. She channels a little bit of her energy through the blade to make it more deadly.
Swift Action: Arcane Strike
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Maera
KW Nature?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
"Bottom-feedin' pests," she grumbles, drawing her new rapier. "Let's see if this can get through that shell of yours!"
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Crit?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
GM Hills
Malak, the extending weapon is actually a Ranseur, which is essentially a 2h trident (3 prongs, just longer haft) so it does a bit more damage than what you rolled ;)
2d4 + 7 ⇒ (2, 1) + 7 = 10
Each crab takes a beating from the officers, Aramis's bullet tearing into the crab before her, leaving it opened to Nissa's quick blade.
After Diabolito's axe does it's damage, Malak follows up with his extending weapon, leaving the crab looking very clearly injured.
Doc's blow lands, and doesn't penetrate the armor, much like Doc's attack, Maera's barely seems to harm the creature.
The crabs then make their moves, now more like cornered animals than the aggressors.
One slashing at Doc, one on Diabolito, and one on Nissa.
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
The one on Doc manages to slash him once, but fail to catch him, the second claw comes around and catches him off-guard. The second claw catches him across the throat and holds him tight. Takes 17 total and you are grappled...holy crap dem rolls
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Diabolito suffers a very similar fate as Doc, having a claw wrapped around him. Diabolito takes 9 more damage and is grappled
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
And Nissa gracefully manages to dodge the assault for her aggressive crab.
Aramis Steele
"Malak, keep an eye on tha' dwarf!" Aramis bellows, aiming for the crab's beady little eyes again.
Firing on the same crab at 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 vs touch for 1d12 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 damage. Reloading as a move action.
Malak Wavecrasher
|
Malak moves swiftly to the side of his companion and lunges forward with his trident. The barbarian focuses his strength behind the points of his weapon in hopes of piercing the shell of the crab and ending it. "Hang in ther ya devil! Yer gunna leave this up to me?!"
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Damage: 2d4 + 7 ⇒ (1, 2) + 7 = 10
No rage or power attack.
Nissa Alami
Nissa dances gracefully on the sand towards the crab lashing it with her charged urumi.
Swift Action: Arcane Strike
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Maera
Seeing that she has no trouble hitting the bloody things, she works to aid in Doc's strike, hoping his expertise in anatomy will break through the hard shell.
Assist Doc Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 2 = 14
Doc Williams
Doc decides the best chance is just to finish the crab outright. Seeing an opening when Maera steps up, he attempts to stab the crab again.
Attack (Hit/Dam): 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 2 + 2 = 181d4 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + (3, 4) = 10
Aramis Steele
Aramis couches next to Diabolito, turning the dwarf onto his back, muttering a string of colourful curses. "A'right, Doc, wanna work yer magic?" she asks, glancing at the large man.
Doc Williams
Doc hurries over to Diabolito to check on him.
Heal (Stabilize): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28
After he's sure that Diabolito isn't in any immediate danger, he begins fishing around in his pack for potions. Digging out a pair of potions, he sets them on the ground, and then pulls out a small vial as well.
He prepares an extract in the small vial and proceeds to administer it to the unconscious dwarf cautiously.
Extract(Cure Light Wounds): 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
He then proceeds to down one of the other potions himself while he waits for Diabolito to come around.
Potion(Cure Light Wounds): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
I'd use the heal skill to give us each back additional HP, but apparently it takes an hour for each attempt heh.
Diabolito Stormbeard
Diabolito gasps and sputters as he finds consciousness. "The crabs! The crabs!"
He looks around, sitting up partially, his hands on the ground, holding his upper half off the ground. "Did I almos' get killed by dinner?"
So ol' Diabolito should be up to 14/20
Still wounded, he gingerly sits up. "By Gozreh, those bloody things are a pain in my...well, everywhere really."
