Top of Round 4
Summoning the will of her father, D'hara mentally calls out for pain. Not just pain for her foes, but pain for herself as well. She will not let the demons have all the fun. A a mix of dark grey and red energy begins to erupt from her own flesh in the shape of barbed hooks, she smiles and embraces the pain. It makes her appreciate being alive. It also serves to guide her hands. With renewed passion for the battle, D'hara lashes out once again with her chain at the demon between her and Hellstrider.

The hooked chains from her arms dart out from her like the tender caress of her masters from her days as a novitiate. The chains of crackling energy grow and coil about her own metallic chain, even as others embed deep into the flesh of the demon. Like a marionette, D'hara spins and dances, guided by the love and wisdom of the Midnight Lord. Her pain calls out to the demon's and her own spiked chain wraps about its arm, tearing away human and worm-flesh alike in a chorus of joyful noise!

Near her, Iavdi uses the creature's distraction strike at the fiend once more. Igneous takes a step forward, snapping and pawing at the fiend, but the demon's human flesh protects it from the horse's attacks. But, Iavdi, heeding the training and discipline programmed into his mind at the forge he was crafted in, uses the horse's momentum to drive his glaive forward, nearly severing the worm-fiend's arm at the shoulder!

Iavdi and Igneous:

glaive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 miss
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
hoof: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 miss
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
hoof: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 miss
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Giosue considers the situation, the risk of catching his fellow hellknights in a spell, and chose precision.

"Ita damnatos et in ira mea, dura sicut furiae!"

The arcanist marshals his will, words and forms come instantly to his mind as he bends reality to his perfect design. His words are ironclad, his motions machine-precise, within seconds twin pitchforks, cruelly barbed and burning with green fire burst from the wizard's hand. With the perfect accuracy of an armiger, the pitchforks dart through the air and run through the demon between Hellstrider and D'hara. Green blood bursts from its back, spraying on the ground in a puff of moldering compost.

giouse:

SR 14: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 ya, it gets through :)

The monk opens herself to pain, and the demons, so eager to see blood spilled, rush to deliver the Midnight Lord's gift. With a roar, the demons attack D'hara and the Iavdi with no concern for their own well being. The monk and hellforged armiger easily dodge their clumsy blows as Iavdi and Igneous strike out at one of the charging demons. His blade cuts it deep, nearly to the rotten maggot growing inside its flesh. The armigers realize that very soon it will die. The creature must realize it, too for it and one of its brethren reach out and pull at the flesh covering their bodies and pull. With a wet tearing sound the human skin stretch and finally rips apart, revealing a disgusting worm-headed humanoid with tentacles for claws. They quickly bend down and devour the ruined human skin, their wounds close.

It snarls in rage and she takes a small step back, giving her room to skewer it with her lance. The lance drives down, piercing the creature to the plaza. Green worms spill out the wound and down the lance shaft. They spray into the air, showering Hellstrider's fur in their goo.

With the last of the vermleks falling and Hellstrider barreling down on the last of the remaining demons, D'hara's dance came to an abrupt stop. She stood up straight and walked back over to assume her position next to Giosue. Her chain swung around over her shoulder, around her waist and back up over her shoulder, the barbs digging into her flesh. She simply smiled beneath her scarf.

"We must go. Tirablade and the others will need us soon."

Hellstrider fells the last of the Eyeless demons with a quick thrust of her lance and a swipe from her paws. Now,the armigers stand momentarily triumphant before the yawning doors of the Gray Garrison. Order, for the moment, has won over chaos. The armigers look about the plaza, but find it, now, completely deserted save themselves. Not even the corpse of Terendelev remains.

Come into my house of fun..

Waiting for the others to file in, D'hara quietly followed along, her chain still secured around her waist.

"I will bring up the rear."

The armigers boldly stride into the foyer of the Gray Garrison, heedless of the danger they face. What is the life of a Hellknight weighed against the fate of the world? Chaos must be stopped. Civilization and order must be preserved. Along the northern wall of this room, a frieze depicts a line of mounted crusaders crashing over a horde of twisted demons. The crusaders' faces have been obliterated and vile graffiti is
carved over the entire scene. Fresh blood stains the floor. They have little time to examine the vandalism, however, as the six warriors, all with the twisting labyrinth of Baphomet carved onto their foreheads, rush into the room brandishing wicked longswords.

their training spurring them to action, the Hellknights ready themselves without forethought or concern. These are but rabble, and shall be put down as such! They are misguided, and deceived, but they have placed their faith and loyalty kin the hands of the servants of chaos and ruin. They deserve no quarter.

With cold accuracy, Hellstrider runs her lance straight through the head of the demon-spawn harrowing Giosue. The fool twitches about the length of wood like a marionette, before sliding of the point from a flick of the chakat's wrist.

She feels bone crush beneath her fist, and the resulting uppercut lands with such force that she feels the fiend-spawn's neck snap. He falls to the ground, the Abyssal light dimming from his eyes.

"Barbatos fortis Pater Wormatiensi placant, obsecro unum de incensis ARTICULUS feces" Giosue intones. A melted wretch appears before him and strikes at the abyss-touched facing Kevroth. Twice the creature's half-formed claws strike at the demon-sworn warrior. The warrior dodges the first blow easily, catching it against his sword and slicing off waxy fingers that fall to the ground and quickly wriggle to rejoin the Giosue's summoned fiend. The tiefling looks down in shock, mesmerized by such paltry things, and leaves himself open for the fiend's next strike! Waxy, ill-formed claws drag across the demon-blooded's face, scoring small scratches that bleed black blood down his cheek and chin.

With that perfect design, his aim is true and he cleanly severs the tiefling's head from its body.

Botting hellstrider. Sorry for the delay. When i'm gone for 6 weeks, people miss me and decide that they need to kidnap me.

initiative:

warriors: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Iavdi: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Kevroth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Giosue: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

D'hara: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Hellstrider: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

As one, Hellstrider and Kevroth attack the servants of ruin. Their weapons flash in the torchlight of the room, perfect and precise instruments of order. With an accuracy drilled into both through hours of harsh discipline and rigorous training, the two armigers quickly dispatch the remaining fiendspawn.

There are two corridors open, one to the west opens to a room that ends in the north around a the corner of the door. The eastern door opens to a room with doors east and north. Above, the armigers can hear the clang and scrape of metal and armor being at readied. All know of their coming.

"Which way?" D'hara asked. She had no preference. It mattered little to her. Soon one of the doors, if not more, would be opened and the next chapter of this short story would begin. And she was a great writer.

D'hara ducks her head quickly into the western room, revealing a brief meeting hall. Cards, coins, and pieces of flesh lay strewn across the table as though a grisly game were quickly abandoned. On the walls, portraits of noble knights and holy crusaders have been vandalized: the faces have been slashed, their bodies have been similarly fouled. Two marble planters lie smashed in pieces on the ground, and mud streaks across the white stone floor. Among the ruins, D'hara finds a greatsword of gold-hued glass, chipped and cracked, but not shattered.

The eastern room is a small shrine to Iomedae. No doubt, this was where guards of the garrison would come to pray before taking up their solemn duties deeper within. In a recessed alcove stands the statue of a noble paladin. Despite being befouled with excrement and graffiti, she still maintains a noble and proud baring. Her hands are clasped before her as though holding a sword, point down. Small brackets in the statue prove this true. Above the statue's head a brilliant sunburst of gold flares brightly, although, it has been marred and befouled as well. Runes in an intricate and stylized script flow to either side of the alcove. At an angle of supplication to the shrine, the shrine takes the shape of a highly stylized down-turned greatsword, with the sunburst as pommel stone.

The stout doors to this room in both the north and east are locked. Which way you going?

anyone who can read Celestial:

The words are written in the tongue of Heaven and say: Let us inherit thine arms, Iomedae.

Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Starring at the statue for a moment D'hara recalled her teachings of the others gods. This one stood out to her. While she didn't agree with all of the tenants of the paladins, she did respect their commitment to order. What had happened here was not only an affront to them, but to D'hara as well.

She approached the damaged greatsword and reached down to pick it up. She stared at it for a bit, as if it were ancient artifact uncovered. She glanced over her shoulder, back to the befouled statue in the alcove and again looked down at the sword. Picking it up, she returned over to the statue, grimacing as she went. The sword felt wrong in her hands. Maybe it was the glass. Maybe just because it was a big sword. Or maybe because something in her rebelled against it. Whatever the reason, she was relieved to set the sword into the statue's clasped hands, not only to be rid of the sword, but it was a strike back against the chaos that had permeated the order of the room.

As soon as the blade slides into the notch, the gold sunburst flares to life and the glass blade glows. The filth and graffiti burn off from the statue, and the room is filled with a soft golden light of warmth and sternness, like a drill instructor watching over training novice soldiers with grudging approval.

A sense of order filled the room, and the armigers know that from this act, many more will follow and the Hordes of the Abyss will never prevail. Chaos shall never fall beneath the perfect discipline of Order and Law.
Ok, direction, now?

Male Aasimar Warpriest 6 / (Un)Rogue(Bandit) 6/Trickster 1 [HP 64/64 | AC 19/T 13/FF 16 (not flat-footed when unaware, +2 vs. traps), Fort +8, Ref +11, Will +10 | Init +7; Perception +15 | F 7/7 | B 6/6 | MP 5/5 | Spells: 5/4/0/0/0/0]

Murmuring almost under his breath, Kevroth reads the inscription aloud, "Let us inherit thine arms, Iomedae." He glances back at the others Armiger, "That is an interesting supplication..."

When D'hara places the sword back in its place awakening the shrine, Kevroth bows his head briefly to the statue out of respect for one who is a steadfast guardian of Order. Turning to D'hara, Kevroth smiles briefly, "That was rightly done, D'hara."

He then steps up to the door and inspects it for any mischief, listening for any sounds from beyond.

Perception (find traps): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26.
Perception (detect creatures on the other side of the door): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30.

With a quick nod of her head, D'hara acknowledged Kevroth. She then moved to fall in line at the rear of the group taking up her usual place near Giosue, freeing her whip from it's resting place on her hip as she went. As she waited for Kevroth to scout the door, she activated her magical sight and peered around the room.

Casting detect magic and looking around.

Neither D'hara and nor Kevroth detected any foul workings or tricks upon the door. The locks easily give way to Kevroth's skill, and both doors stand ready. The eastern door swings open easily, revealing a shattered museum. The walls are lined with paintings and tapestries dedicated to the Crusades and Iomedae's faith, now tattered and fouled by demonic hands. Some are hastily vandalized by crude words and images, others simply shredded by razor-tipped claws. A few have been altered with painstaking care, their divine images twisted to depict scenes of twisted perversion and debauchery--child eating, slaughter, fornications, and worse. Sacred statues and relics, some of which were magical, lay shattered about the floor.

In their places, new pieces of "art" have been installed. The bodies of once-proud knights, some, the armigers recognize from Fort Nebarious, dangle in the air from entrails and flaps of skin that have been nailed to the ceiling of the room. As the armigers approach, the seven warriors dance in the air like marionettes on strings, moving and spinning in a mockery of their once noble actions, carrying out scenes from the befouled art. Among the dancing corpses, Kevroth spots more dangling strips of flesh and entrails nailed to the ceiling.

As the armigers watch, they feel skin and entrails clinging slipping through their armor and clothes and slithering against their bare flesh. Most pull away from the unclean touch, but Kevroth isn't quite fast enough, mesmerized as he is by the horrific tableau before him. He pays for his lack of discipline, as the spectral entrails and flesh burrow deep into his body, paralyzing him and dragging him into the air to join the corpses in their mummer's dance.
