Oh, very important. ;)

Xzaral, another question. The lockpicks from the Veil. Are those masterwork?

King of Talingarde

For the concept, I could see handwaving it.

And yes, Masterwork.

King of Talingarde

Just to give everyone a heads-up, before moving on to the next part, I am waiting on three things.

1) Shulme to come back (let me know).

2) Completion of the item game (for Cain, Price and Xanos; just put a post saying all purchases and leveling complete).

3) Completion of the map for the next part.

I'm just about done with the map, so as soon as you guys are ready, let me know.

Working on my gear today.

A question. Are we expected to make our purchases with this loot/writ gold for whatever the next job if? or will the cardinal spring for any job-specific purchases we need once we know what the job is?

basically, should i be holding some money in reserve? Or should i spend what i want on "general adventuring gear"?

King of Talingarde

I wouldn't worry about holding too much in reserve at present.

Cain is levelled to 2, and here are his purchases and remaining gold.

purchases:
Mwk Chain shirt
Comp. Longbow (+4 STR)
-- Arrows x20
-- Blunt Arrows x20
Falchion
Dagger x2
Cold Iron Morningstar
Brass Knuckles

Backpack
-- Crowbar

Belt Pouches (2)
-- Potion of Enlarge Person x2 - 100g

Cain's portion of Wand of CLW - 150g

7g 7s 5c remaining

EDIT: char sheets updated & ready to roll.

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

Fargo will contribute 150 to CLW wand.

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

It occurs to me that maybe a wand of infernal healing would be even better.

What's the difference?

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

CLW is 1d8+1 average is 5 I think max is nine. Infernal healing give fast healing 1 for one minute, so ten every time.

Hmmm... but requires more time if someone needs more than 10 hp back. I could go either way. I'll leave it up to y'all.

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

It is better out of combat. In combat, it depends on how you roll.

HP 21 | AC/T/FF 14/12/12 | CMD 17 | F+3 / R+3 / W+8 | Init +6; PER +10 | Image

Price's character sheet is updated. I'll try to spend her cash today... but I may have some questions on what Tiadora can get.

I'm in favor of the CLW wand. Infernal healing is nice numerically, but in combat, 1 HP a round is all but useless. I'd rather get less points but get them in one shot if we need them. Flexibility is key - particularly since we don't have a dedicated healer.

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

You are probably right. We can go for infernal healing once we are higher level and CLW will not do anything in combat.

HP 21 | AC/T/FF 14/12/12 | CMD 17 | F+3 / R+3 / W+8 | Init +6; PER +10 | Image

Mark, Price is looking for a good light armor that can be (hopefully) concealed beneath a dress... So it would consist of a form-fitting bodice and an underskirt or leggings. I think that would restrict it to Leather or Leaf. Given how Leaf is made, I would think that would be the most easily concealable option. Are you OK with her getting Leaf and would you consider it concealable?

Guys, Price is in for 150GP to the CLW Wand.

Xanos is leveled. I seem to have lost our total cash share in all the combat discussion. what was the end amount?

HP 21 | AC/T/FF 14/12/12 | CMD 17 | F+3 / R+3 / W+8 | Init +6; PER +10 | Image

I think it comes to 1038 GP with the addition of the MW staff to the sale pile and subtracting the 150 for the CLW Wand.

HP 27/35, Temp HP 0, 3 str damage, AC: 11, Fort +02/ Ref +2 / Will +6, Perception:+5 Channel 8/8, Bolster 8/8, Infernal Healing 50/50, Command Undead 50/50. Active Effects: Fox's Cunning

Wow. Each? that's more than I expected.

Mark, would you allow access to eastern armor?

If so, I'd like to turn the prison-girdle into a Haramaki.

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

Oh mark, how much XP do I get for beating Cain.

HP 21 | AC/T/FF 14/12/12 | CMD 17 | F+3 / R+3 / W+8 | Init +6; PER +10 | Image

LOL! You get 1 XP for stacking the deck. :)

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

Hey he charged me while I was casting and tried to make me loose the spell.

I didnt think we were using xp in this game.

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

Then I should get a lot.

HP 27/35, Temp HP 0, 3 str damage, AC: 11, Fort +02/ Ref +2 / Will +6, Perception:+5 Channel 8/8, Bolster 8/8, Infernal Healing 50/50, Command Undead 50/50. Active Effects: Fox's Cunning

you get eleventyjillion arbitrary points!

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

Yay, I am winning.

King of Talingarde

Posting from phone.
Yes to leaf under dress (sounds itchy, make sure not poison oak leaf).
Yes to haramaki. Okay if you want to reskin.
@ Fargo, NO XP FOR YOU!

Hey Mark, can you tell us roughly what the nature of our next assignments are going to be? I'm gearing Price up and it would be good to know if we need outdoor equipment (such as backpacks, ropes, etc.) or if we are going to be doing more city adventures where we don't need to be carrying loads of equipment.

King of Talingarde

It won't be city or outdoorsy. In the way of things like rations and tents, don't worry about those things too much. Thorn won't let you leave completely unequipped (though there might be some snide comments about being prepared ;p). Suffice to say you won't need to worry about food.

Let the universe howl in despair for I have returned!

oh noez!

King of Talingarde

Welcome back Shulme.

The Shulmninator! All shall love him and despair!

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

I thought that was Galadriel.

Oh, right... sometimes I get so confused.

HP 21 | AC/T/FF 14/12/12 | CMD 17 | F+3 / R+3 / W+8 | Init +6; PER +10 | Image

Sheesh! It's like you don't even know Shulme... He's the one who will see his enemies driven before him and hear the lamentation of their women...

King of Talingarde

Going to get the moving along post up shortly. Just a heads up to finish your gearing. I hope you like the map for the next part, first full dungeon I've made in Maptools (though it's based on the one in the book).

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

In addition to normal clothes, Fargo takes two sets of robes and a few hats and detachable hoods. And orders a potion of Lesser Restore Eidelon.

CAn't wait to see the dungeon, then. :D

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

What do we think about Jack guys? Fargo has not really had any interaction with him. I would say he is a resource, to be used, but not cried over once expended.

Male Devil-blooded Ogre

On that note, Grumblejack did receive gear as well. He is now sporting a Large Greatsword and a Large Chain Shirt. Plus he's been healed and cured of poison.

HP 21 | AC/T/FF 14/12/12 | CMD 17 | F+3 / R+3 / W+8 | Init +6; PER +10 | Image

Hey Mark, I believe you mentioned that wanted to share a funny story about how your IRL group handled the prison break after we finished it up. :)

King of Talingarde

Good call! When my group did it, they focused on the "Let's just get the hell out of here" plan. So it started like this.

First as soon as put into the cells, without waiting at all, immediately began trying to rip the manacles off the walls, making no efforts to hide the noise. Guards come in and beat them into submission (subdual damage). One of them gets taken to see Tiadora while the others recover back up to 1hp.

Person comes back with the veil. Remember the entire group is at 1hp (non-lethal). They manage to get out and free Grumblejack pretty easily at this point. They begin trying to get out and slaughter what guards they can on the way. FYI, the group consists of Cleric of Asmodeus, Halfling Rogue, Elf Zen Archer Monk, Human 4 Winds Monk, and human Anti-paladin.

We use a rule where when you heal hit point damage, it heals equal parts lethal and subdual (I don't know if it's official or not, it's just how we play, if it ever came up I'd actually have to check). So the Cleric uses his Cure spells, the vial gets used. They manage to do well with two monks in the group.

The problem lies in that they consistently failed Stealth rolls. By the time they actually managed to escape the prison, they had successfully killed EVERYTHING in the prison besides the Warden. But they didn't know that at all, thinking there were a ton more guards yet.

Instead they ran, not looting Blackerly's room of the gold, or the guards barracks for that loot. And the frog encounter I didn't use, since they managed this while at 1hp for ALL of them at the start.

The best part was imagining the Warden coming out of his tower to find EVERYTHING dead. Every...single...guard...servant...dog, all dead.

They don't know this yet, but I've been working on inserting him later on. After the failure at Branderscar, he himself was locked up but managed to escape. Since then he's been gaining magical power, running from the Talireans, and I plan to use him later on, just not sure when yet. And considering they've never actually met him yet, I can just imagine the fun of it.

Why limit myself to one or the other? ;)

Hey Mark how do you make these maps? I have another GM who would like to learn.

King of Talingarde

I've been using Maptools to make them, except the tokens which are Tokentool.

RPtools

The originals were all taken from the books, placed into Maptools and had a grid overlaid on top with coordinates. I've since learned how to make the maps (which is this one here), and how to export the images instead of print screen and paste into paint.

Objects
Textures

Those two links gave me alot of objects and textures I use. I must say the map-making community is wonderful. There's a learning curve to overcome using Maptools, but it seems to work out well.

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

I am deeply offended and very hurt. I thought King Mark was a fair DM but I have just found that he is not. He is giving preferential treatment to the first parchment group. I found out that he gave one of them a candy bar, and did not offer any to us. I am hurt and a little hungry. Where is my candy bar. I want a candy bar.

King of Talingarde

Here's Fargo's candy bar

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

Thank you. I go and eat my candy bar
