as an in-game note, the current contract expires when Talingarde falls. adding caine's hunting rights to it would push the contract past it's current limits, allowing for it to potentially be enforced (through enforcement of the hunting rights Caine asked for) well after we want the contract to expire.

HP 21 | AC/T/FF 14/12/12 | CMD 17 | F+3 / R+3 / W+8 | Init +6; PER +10 | Image

I don't see it. It effects Cain and any new government in Talingarde after the fall. If you expect to be ruling the country after the smoke clears, yeah, it would effect you. But if Xanos' plan is to torch the place and leave - then it doesn't affect him at all. His portion of the contract is fulfilled.

Price has the right of my goal with the hunting addendum. I'm hoping for a "Thereafter, Cain and his folk have the rights... " sort of thing. Not something that changes the fact that the wording reads that the contract is completed at the fall of Talingarde.

How does it extend the binding nature of the contract to the Allies?

Alternately, something to the tune of "The government established by any members of this agreement after the fall of the current rulers of Talingarde must adhere to..."

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

I am confused by the latest compact. It looks like the party is on there twice and Asmodeas not as all.

King of Talingarde

You are correct.

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

so it is supposed to be that way.

King of Talingarde

The one he has presented is made with the requested edits by the group, almost verbatim (except for Cain's, which I forgot to include and am adding now).

HP 27/35, Temp HP 0, 3 str damage, AC: 11, Fort +02/ Ref +2 / Will +6, Perception:+5 Channel 8/8, Bolster 8/8, Infernal Healing 50/50, Command Undead 50/50. Active Effects: Fox's Cunning

actually, clause three has simply become clause 1. it's listed twice because the important info was in clause 3 to begin with. think of it like an asterix leading to clause clarification.

I really didn't think this would derail the game that much. sorry guys.

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

You have no idea how hard I am laughing at all this.

King of Talingarde

I wouldn't call it so much derailing as effectively RPing your character. I personally love it. Running pre-made adventures is fairly easy, imo, but modifying them to fit the characters gives them a better life. So adapting to fit Xanos and Cains demands I think will actually be better for the overall story, making you feel more a part of it.

Keep it up!

King of Talingarde

As far as the loot division goes, if I correctly recall Fargo and Shulme came in with 2nd level equipment.

The three of you can divide the rest of the loot 3 ways or 5, it doesn't matter to me. I'll keep an eye on what you all have and adjust accordingly. I'm already having to increase some of the rewards with their being 5 of you, so not like it's more than what I was already doing.

Cain wrote:
Okay, so now we have the awesome task of listing out all the loot we brought with us, so we can have Tiadora sell it. Then we split it 5 ways? Or should we get greedy and cut Gwyn and Jakes out? >:D

I'm for a three-way split but I'm willing to go with 5 if we want to be realistic. As a general thought, I'd like for Price to keep the Laughing Demon, the longbow, and arrows. All of Price's other equipment - including the armor (but excluding the outfits provided by the Cardinal and her belt pouch) should be sold.

I think we should also consider keeping the veil with its rope, lantern, gold, and holy symbol.

I think we'll need a list from Mark on what we were able to reasonably carry out since we kind of glossed that bit in favor of staying in the story.

King of Talingarde

Between the availability of sacks, and the fact you have an ogre with 18 strength (reduced, but still large), and Cain and Kalina, I'm pretty much okay with you all taking anything out of there besides the furniture.

The only things I really remember taking were Blackerly's stash, a few weapons and the loot from the warden's tower. Was there anything else?

Loot:

From the guards sleeping quarters:

A travellers outfit in the local fasion.
A fineley made pipe (5gp)
1 lb of high quality shag tobacco (2gp)
A package wrapped in wax paper labeled 'From Lil', contains delicious smelling cookies.
A small pouch containing 1gp, 15sp, 50cp
A whetstone
Bottle of fine whisky (25gp)
Bottle of rotgut (5gp)
A Masterwork Lute (100gp)
A map of the nearby town called Varyston and it's surrounding environs (includes the Old Moor Road)
A small bottle with a hand written note “In case of trouble – Love, Mom!” (Detects as magical). <--- did we ever get this ID'd?

From Blackerly's room/office:
We took a few brands
1544g
Mwk Longsword
dozen bottles of rotgut worth 5g each
Potion from Blackerly's nightstand - curative but not CLW

From the Warden's Tower:
Book: The Travels of Titus the Mendicant by Artus Vellor - worth 120g amongst collectors.
Book: The Floralegium by Branthus Hart. worth 250g to collectors
5 Nobles outfits (Xanos was wearing one earlier) - worth 475g together
Potion CLW
Scroll Sleep (on Xanos?)
Scroll of Invisibility (on Xanos?)
2 unidentified scrolls
Warden's class ring - 250g

-------------

I haven't accounted for things people carried out. People feel free to point out if i've missed anything or if anyone has claimed any of these items for team use. Obviously, I'd love to keep the magic items (potions/scrolls) for our use.

Sounds like Xanos still has some work in ID'ing those scrolls.

What I'd love is for Tiadora to get her best price for all that stuff, then our escape crew will split up the gold we get from it.

At that point, i'll make some gearing decisions for Cain.

Thouhgts, guys?

HP 27/35, Temp HP 0, 3 str damage, AC: 11, Fort +02/ Ref +2 / Will +6, Perception:+5 Channel 8/8, Bolster 8/8, Infernal Healing 50/50, Command Undead 50/50. Active Effects: Fox's Cunning

Sell and split sounds good to me, minus the gear we're hanging on to.

Spellcraft for In Case Of Trouble potion: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22

Spellcraft for 1st level scroll: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22

Spellcraft for 2nd level scroll: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

Looks like I've got everything figured out.

The first level scroll is Magic Missile, the second level one is Hideous Laughter.

I'm also keeping the warden's ring. I'll take the cost out of my share if I have to.

King of Talingarde

In case of trouble - Cure Light WOunds
Remaining Scrolls - Magic Missle, Hideous Laughter

There should be a 3rd book as well,

Knowledge (arcana) (DC 15) or an Appraise (DC 20):

“Astra Mysterii” A rare treatise on astrology written by the mad monk Clivarus, worth 75 gp.

You still need a spellcraft on the potion from blackerly as well:

Spellcraft DC 18:
Cure Moderate Wounds

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As far as sell prices, Tiadora can get full price on the art objects (like the books, the ring, the rotgut I suppose).
Half price on equpiment (scrolls, weapons, armor, magic items).
HP 27/35, Temp HP 0, 3 str damage, AC: 11, Fort +02/ Ref +2 / Will +6, Perception:+5 Channel 8/8, Bolster 8/8, Infernal Healing 50/50, Command Undead 50/50. Active Effects: Fox's Cunning
spellcraft for Blackerly's potion: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Know: Arcana for book: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Xanos is also going to read all the books and use Prestidigitation and a pot of ink to copy anything interesting before giving them away to be sold.
Don't know if they have any plot-relevant info in them, but feel free to give me the highlights.
Shulme, you still on the line? We can kick this thing into the next phase, if the new guys want. I know I said some sparring might be fun, but it might serve tr party better to jump into something that gets us working together.
Just a thought.
Oh, ahem... just got pointed out to me that Shulme said he would be off the boards til late this week... perfect time to sort gear and beat on each other. :)
I'll try to put a guess on how much all that equipment is on resell.
Then I'll throw up a post about the sparring. :)
Okay, taking a crack at loot selling
Stuff to keep:
Bottle of fine whiskey
Potion of CLW
Potion of CMW
Stuff to sell @ 50%:
Mwk Longsword - 315g
Cain's longsword - 15
1/2 = 165g
Stuff to sell @ 100%:
Finely made pipe - 50g
Tobacco - 2g
bottle of rotgut (x12) - 60g
Mwk Lute - 100g
Book - 120
Book - 250g
Book - 75g
5 nobles outfits - 475g
Total 1132
Monies:
1544 + 165 + 1132 = 2841
That divided into 5 is 568.2 each.
That divided into 3 is 947 each.
Price and Xanos, let me know if I've missed anything. And also cast your vote on if you want to include Jakes and Gwyn in the split.
I'm fine either way, and from an RP perspective, it makes more sense to include those two. I guess it's just 200g or so difference (sigh.. which would almost cover the cost of making the bow i'm purchasing Mwk).
HP 21 | AC/T/FF 14/12/12 | CMD 17 | F+3 / R+3 / W+8 | Init +6; PER +10 | Image
You missed a couple of things:
Price is tossing in her set of chain armor as well as the heavy steel shield. I think we have a couple more sets of chain that Grumblejack and/or folks were carrying around, if not wearing. Mark can probably say how many we were able to swipe and carry without becoming burdensome.
Xanos, do you want to keep the MW staff or throw it into the kitty?
For the split - it rather depends on what Mark plans to do with Jakes and Gwyn. If they are written out as having refused to sign and deciding to go off on their own... then we could split the difference and give them each a half share. If they are still on the team - then a full share seems right.
Of course, as a greedy player... me likey the three shares idea. :D
Oh, and don't forget we each get a 200GP stipend from the Cardinal.
Ch-CHING!
King of Talingarde
Figureing Grumblejacks Light load to be 200 at the time, and 17 guards.
17 Longswords (15gp, 4lbs each) = 255gp, 68lbs
17 Longbows (75gp, 3lbs each) = 1275gp, 51lbs
3 Chain Shirts (100gp, 25lbs eachs) = 300gp, 75lbs
TOTAL= 1830gp, 194lbs (Sell for half for 915)
With a little room for additional stuff. And that's going by the most expensive equipment available per lb.
Okay, will wiat to hear from XAnos about the Mw Staff, then will re-fig the total.
I say we treat Gwyn/Jakes as 1/2 members. Split the total into 4.
King of Talingarde
I had meant to make a post about them, but never got around to it. They will still be serving Thorn, just in a different capacity. That way, if they choose to come back, it's easy to reinsert, but I won't have two DMPCs on my hands until they do so.
However you wish to split the loot is fine by me, I will adjust as well.
Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)
Do we want to pool and get a CLW wand. I can not think of anything I should get with my 200gp. I am already carrying a heavy load without Teon up.
Can a normal bow be made masterwork after creation? And can it have its strength rating boosted up after creation?
I'd like to have a bow made for Cain, and use the same bow for his career, but i can only od that if i can upgrade it constantly.
Let me know.
Also, here are the numbers i see for our loot division:
(10 + 50 + 915 + 1544 + 1132) / 4 = 912.75 for Price, Xanos, and Cain (with Jakes/Gwyn splitting the 4th share). Then, of course you can add your 200g writ in for 1112.75.
Splitting a wand of CLW would be smart. At 5 people, that's 150g/person, right?
Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)
There is a spell to make something permanently masterwork. As far as increasing the streanth bonus, I do not believe there is a game mechanic for that. Some DMs allow it to be added with craft checks. I would ask mark, he seem cool.
King of Talingarde
Right now, not so cool (stupid heat). But I do like awesome ;p
I'd be fine with that. Looking at how a composite bow is made, I'm not 100% sure such an upgrade would be feasible by physics (seems plausible enough), but hey, Wizards do throw fireballs. I'd be fine with such an upgrade.
Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)
It could be fluffed at delaminating the composites and tightening or upgrading the sinews.
King of Talingarde
That's the part I'm not sure of if possible or not, as I don't have much technical expertise at the exact process, just some basic info I found on the web. Seemed reasonable enough though to allow it. And like I said, if it ain't science, it's magic to make it work.
HP 27/35, Temp HP 0, 3 str damage, AC: 11, Fort +02/ Ref +2 / Will +6, Perception:+5 Channel 8/8, Bolster 8/8, Infernal Healing 50/50, Command Undead 50/50. Active Effects: Fox's Cunning
I never did pick my two spells for going up a level.
I'll pick Masterwork Transformation as one of them.
As for the staff, let's sell it. That's an extra 300ish gp for a stick.
Edit: Damn, it's a second level spell...
Edit 2: I didn't just pick spells, I forgot to level up. Facepalm.
1d3 ⇒ 3
Edit: Fixed dice roll
King of Talingarde
Don't forget Xanos, Hit points are 1/2+1/2rolled. So it's 1d3+3 for you, not 1d6.
HP 27/35, Temp HP 0, 3 str damage, AC: 11, Fort +02/ Ref +2 / Will +6, Perception:+5 Channel 8/8, Bolster 8/8, Infernal Healing 50/50, Command Undead 50/50. Active Effects: Fox's Cunning
Aand done.
I now have 1 whole rank in Stealth, as well as Interrogation and Vanish added to my spellbook.
King of Talingarde
If this were an actual combat, my ruling would have gone like this.
Teon starts casting Enlarge Person.
Cain charges. This is surprise round.
Both participants roll initiative.
Round 1 starts with two options...
1) If Teon goes first, spell goes off and not flat-footed. Teon acts normally first round.
2) If Cain goes first, spell isn't off yet, Teon is flat-footed.
It was the completing the spell that's the kicker to me, as it made it seem Teon won initiative.
Oh,well, we had rolled initiative previously, and Cain won. :)
Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)
No AoO.
Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)
Asking for a ruling king mark. is Teon now prone?
King of Talingarde
Don't see it in the rules, so nope.
Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)
vonderbar
Yah, neither grapples nor pins give the prone condition. And unfortunately, my lycanthropy doesn't give me the Trip ability on my bite (hopefully that will come later).
Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)
I keep forgetting arcane strike.
King of Talingarde
I figured this would also give Fargo/Teon a chance to make sure he can manipulate the maps okay.
Plus you never know when you'll need a map of an Asmodean Training Hall, right?
Fargo Drinog wrote:
I keep forgetting arcane strike.
Eeeeeehhh.. what's a few points damage here or there, really?
Not like either of us can hit the broad side of a barn, anyway.
Also, Xzaral. You're a punk.
You mentioned Cain as a berserker, which naturally made me think of the barbarian class. I hadn't considered it at all for Cain (because of the way i see him conceptually), but with a bit of re-fluffing, it could give him the benefits he's been looking to gain.
So I'm considering a dip of a level or two, but there's one problem. Alignment. I want to retain his lawful alignment to reflect his hierarchical pack mentality, but I'm interested in the speed, acrobatics, and rage.
Would you be willing to overlook the alignment conflict? Or is that too big of a deal to overlook?
Fargo Drinog wrote:
You could not have anyway. My being ten feet out meant you had to five foot step to hit me. You could not have moved away after that. Full attacking was your best option. Plus, if you had moved away, I would have healed myself and come after you after that. The best part about synthasist is the options. I was feeling your favored enemy though.
Ah, true. So really the answer should have been to pick pu a reach weapon, and do the same tactic. Cause thee attacks per round against a naked AC is no good.
I didn't realize you were going to pull out all the stops. I mean, come on... the guys was shirtless!
Outsider (AC: 22|12|20- For:+5| Rex:+6| Wil:+7- Per:+2Init:+3)
I meant to take off my robe to be the same. But six natural armor helps a lot. With your dex though, you were only one behind me. I went down two by enlarging. But that did help me shut down your hit and run. Would you have grappled if I had not enlarged?
What does the robe do? I thought most of your AC came from natural armor and Mage Armor.
And the dex is great, but without the armor as well, his AC was only 14 against your 19.
And yes, I probably would still have opened with a grapple. It negates your AC and forces you to make less attacks per round... at least once your pinned. Then it's basically who can get lucky on a string of rolls first. :)
once you broke out, I was trying to figure out how to keep you from full-attacking, but that reach was killer.
Outsider (AC: 22|12|20- For:+5| Rex:+6| Wil:+7- Per:+2Init:+3)
Taking off the robe shows my great eidelon bod. Fargo has an 8 strength.
