I look up from where I am crouched beside Thoronhen. When I first tumbled into the room, I had moved to him to ensure he wasn't too badly injured. Unconcious but undamaged I believe. The big barbarian had really done a number on him.
As Lord Astinos tries to intimidate his way through these folk I decide to try another tact.
[out loud to the guards] "We dinnae come here ter fight lads. We are here on account o' Lord Ronin's Arena Box bein' slowly crushed from some malevolent force beyond me own ken. The whole place is a battleground up there at tha moment. Perhaps afore ye all decide ter draw steel and let the killin' start, mayhap one of yer could go and check, or at least signal others ter check for yer. Ifn' I have the lay of this place right, there'd be other rooms such asthis ter be found. Let some of yer own lads from those rooms know we're here and get 'em ter check our story."
I look the leader in teh eye for the last one, allowing some concern into my face as I speak. "I't hate fer yer to come to a disagreement with Lord Ronin 'cause ye decided to stick us first and ask questions later. He'll be expectin' us afore too much longer. Ifn' it turns out we're lying, well then ye can try all the knfie stickin' yer need"
ooc - Diplomacy 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19. Also, if it will bring him back around I'll cast a cure light on Thronhen to remove any subdual damge he's got.

I go down the chute Survey the situation.
Out loud to Kaluna: Never speak to me again about your morality and virtue necromancer especially after I just saw you steal a bag out of a secret compartment up stairs. Also fix that skeletons face he looks stupid with those darts sticking out of his skull from when he triggered the trap. I can not believe Ye would still from your gracious host.
I Walk up to the mouthy guard with a good grip on my shield and axe in one hand.
Out loud I state: Hey dunderhead pay attention because if you miss this I will kill ya. (Intimidation: 20 on (1d20) + 12 (Mod) = 32)
I do the hand signal shown to me by the Sorcerers above (Dex check to see if I do it right: 16 (1d20) + 5 (Mod) = 21).
Out loud to the mouthy guard: Now get us a guide to the mansion now.
I grumble under my breath: Humm 400 feet drop impressive.
Val: I took no damage.

At the Ork exchange;
"Sure" she watches intently...magical eyes as well.
"Indeed, indeed. You do know how to talk with the orks."
Giggles; "Well I do think orks have it about right with the game idea, though sometimes I do wonder about them. Its hard to figure out what game they are playing sometimes."
"Hmmmm." Kalona thinks..."Not a legendary ork or dwarf before at least."

We will be meeting up with the owner it is my understanding, we can freely discuss these things with him then. How so then is this a morality issue? Oh and how did I become a necromancer...mind you that would be an interesting profession...I suppose necromancy and spirit guide do have some things in common. Never thought about it before..."
To Llevnoc
Up to Raven to let you out, not anyone here. He may, though I think he finds you funny so enjoys listening.
Oblivious as normal, you made a poor joke that showed no respect for her position or who she is. She is the representative our host left with us, not some little girl. She is some mage of note, as could be seen by how others who knew her treated her. Her title, I would guess has enough meaning around here that others would not normally question her will. Yet you say something as frivolous as jumping down the chute together and hanging on to each other for our dear lives screaming down the slide? Just what did she say or do that would lead you to believe this was an appropriate way to talk with her?
Then after she gave you a cold poker like stare and told you to go, she had business to attend too, business she did not like no doubt, you actually demanded an answer to your question and told her if you did not like the answer she would be 'stuck with you'? Do you honestly believe you were nice, courteous or in the least bit respectful of her?
It doesnt matter that you had her best interest in mind, it doesnt matter that you are willing to give up your life, which you yourself constantly say is already dead...making it a meaningless offer. You have completely ingored everything about her or more likely simply didnt notice who she was, a flat out insult. Which made all the time and conversation with her moot, deprived her of her dignity, stole all her time working up to her position, dismissed the trust placed in her, defamed her in front of those of lesser rank as well as other guests. You took it all and with your 'galant willingness to sacrifice yourself and concern for her safety' tossed it on the ground and trampled all over it right in front of her and everyone else, all in a matter of seconds. Exactly what was nice about, your kind thoughts? Really.
As for me not talking with you, we are in a group together...tough it out or better yet, learn and grow.
She sits on Aahz's shoulder calmingly watching the Ork/Group events play out as she awaits the Kosan defense...wonder if she will be surprised or not, probably not.
"Ah Aahz, it seems you have some maleness about you. I really hope you take some time to understand females, I fear this group of males, even with the females around, would be hard pressed to find a faint glimmer truth within the recesses of their minds..."

As for me and Lady Aestella. If she feels I have done wrong by her. She will let me know in private. Ladies do that sort of thing you know. I will express my viewpoint, and she will express hers. We will iron it out. One way or the other. However its resolved is certainly none of your business.
Its true I am already dead. That was decided for me when I met this lot. But me choosing how I want to die. That doesn't lessen my intent. It gives it meaning. Not to be doled out by someone else. I chose that that moment had worth. I chose that her life has more meaning than mine. But I waste my words with you. You will always twist and pervert my intent. Your as black and ugly on the outside as your are on the in.

Oh my, this is just such an incredible amount of contradictions, hypocracy and lack of understanding of others that it very nearly overwhelms ones senses. This is just amazing. Truly chaos must be running rampent throughout the world. Just amazing...
Well, to the point. Its not your intentions that was the focus here, it was how you expressed them, it was rude. She showed you it was rude and you still did not get it. You dont even get it now when someone has told you. You dont even after all the things mentioned, grasp anything about her character at all or why she responded the way she did. Really, think outside yourself for a change and pay attention to the world around you.
Now as much as the many other points of discussion are begging, there is only one other thing I am wondering about. If you have a right to chose where and when to die, doesnt everyone else? If you can chose who is more worthy to live, cant everyone else? So why is your choice more 'right' than theirs? What about your promise to rescue this power, is that of less meaning than your choice of when to die?
It seems to me you simply want to die and make up excuses for the rest. True heroes seek to live and enjoy the future they have wrought rather than die and cause more sorrow to those they struggled for. A true hero never lays down ones life for another but fights so that all, including themselves will survive. Striving though all loss, all pain and all suffering. It is this that makes a hero, whether or not they succeed. But what would I know, I'm just a thief, right?

Kosan, you would and Sir Astinos would be best at gaurding the escape chute; it may only be a matter of time before this creature come down the chute; would you attend to it and give us as much warning as possible?
Sir; there really is a terrible battle happening in the arena; one of our comrade; a certain Iunious June, Sister of our Decidio here; was out on the field when the attack took place; we would appreciate any information you could give us in that regard, in trade we can tell you that the battle is great; other than this great malignant blob of mist that eats souls and magic; there were several to many Illithids and Gnolls fighting in the arena; their were what I assume those in charge; I believe they are called Liches, and something perhaps called a DeathKnight and a host of Vampires arrayed to defend the trophy and the arena; there were as well; Grells and other things in the air fighting. I could show you in your mind pictures of the event; though they would be second hand as I was in contact with the aforementioned Iunious and she gave the images to me.

a new guy enters the room, he has the unassuming look of middle management.
he is a fairly unattractive, yet wirey muscled Half Orc; cold and dispassionate; but excellent leathers and a very fine short sword; he is wearing a very finely cut cloak of black with silver embellishment that also seems to be some badge of office.
"ah, our little lost lambs" he says "Boyz Boyz, these are our guests and Sh@tte, unexpected to be sure, but guests just the same. Please forgive our boyz here, unexpected things tend to make my brothers a bit tense." <he snaps his fingers> and two burly tuffs come in with a litter and put Thoronhen on it.
"If you will all please join me, we can accomidate your concerns and Sh@tte."
<he guestures for you to follow him, does everyone follow?>
Valegrim
You all exit the room into a wide hallway; the halsway about 40ft wide and 40ft high and is stone and mortar as well as fairly dimly lit; you can see outside the room 20 or so armed thugs, 4 groups of 5 about 10 or so feet apart, dressed very much like the ones in the room; they are standing and watching you exit; down the hall you can see other groups sitting down or lounged against the wall with a central speaker; you will pass several of these and they will give you evaluating looks as you pass. Depending on the size of this hallway; there are probably a hundred or so thugs in this hall. Most are human or ork; you see no elves, but there are a few dwarves, halflings, and a scattering of other creatures.
on either side of the hall about every 40 ft there is a heavy door and on the walls between the doors hang black and silver tapestries; the only symbol you see on them is a studded, leather bound fist which looks much like how all these thugs have their fists, sort of a leather gauntlet.
Valegrim
your guide nods and smiles and calls out a name or quip as he walks; but grandfatherly with an iron fist; people straighten up; some seem to cringe and hide; others smile and node; some give cold stares; your guide treats them all like his children, seeming to ignore it all and life is grand. He is very good at it; a politician for sure, with a heart of stone...or worse.
you come to the end of a hallway after a hundred or so feet to a heavy studded door. On each side of the door is a hanging tapestry of much grander nature; black and silver again; with the leather bound arm in a fist in th center.
here there are 5 teams of obvious pairs of thugs; looks like a rouge and a warrior; these seem much more seasoned than the others down the hall, well, except for those teaching each of the groups. There are benches here and also a few weapons racks and cabinets against the wall. The warriors are full chain or splintmail and the rogue types are wearing leathers of various sorts; there seems to be a bit more individual variation in equiptment here; but the same black and silver coloring is apparent and their weapons of much more finely crafted.
The door you come to is an Iron Bound door; close to it is a desk; this guy goes behind it and retrieves two large iron keys from one of the drawers.
Your guide calls out "Rico" and throws a key at a rogue type guy.
Valegrim
the rogue doesnt even flinch; the key hits him in the chest and falls to the ground with a iron tinkle.
he then squats down and examines the key; taking a bit of time out it.
Your guide looks on with a sour expression, shaking his head, but remains somewhat still.
"Rico" pulls out a grey cloth about the size of a washrag from inside his armor and wraps it around the key handle; a couple of the warrior type guards chuckle softly; your guide looks at them coldly; they stop chuckling. The other rogue types are watching back and forth from your guide to "Rico" like a fast paced tennis match; but each of their actions are really slow; molasses slow; cold molasses in the heart of Winter slow.
[Grymble, this is nearly as good as any fey opera; the tension here is so thick you can taste it; should bring a big big smile and laugh to you as this sort of thing is the heart and soul of your kind of fey.]
Valegrim
Finally both have their keys and the tension hangs expectantly; but soon fades as one of the warrior pulls a paper out of his belt and says; "2 and 5"
your guide says "ah, Gladious, if you will"
The warrior nods and goes to the wall and gets a very heady iron rod; probably weighs 200 lbs; is 6ft long and thick; he looks are the ground and counts (does it twice) and puts the spike in a hole and waits, as this draws your attention to the floor; you can see lots of square holes; about 100; any of which this iron spike could be put in.
[Kosan and Erkholt, looking at the floor and the door; you guys become aware that this is fine dwarven craftsmenship; this is a really solid door]
Your guide goes to the wall and pulls a chime, then moves to the door; after a few moments you hear a chime in this room from near the desk.
Valegrim
Your guide nods to the warrior who applies his muscle and bully brawn to the spike with a grunt and ten hidden stone panels slide open, 5 on each side of the door, revealing 10 keyholes; the warrior has the spike pulled back to just over 45 degrees and with most of his entire weight on the spike; seems more restful.
Your guide and "Rico" go to the keyholes; "Rico puts his key in 2; your guide in 5; and they push; after a few seconds the keys slide in easily; they look at each other; your guide nods; they turn simultaneously. And their is the sound of gears moving and the sound of a pressure release at the door, and it opens powerfully.
The door has two iron faces about 2 inches thick and wood center about 4 inches wide; inside you see a short 10ft hallway; to another door open that seems this ones sister. Through the hall you can see a lit room and a human man waiting for you wearing nothing but a simple tunic of black and silver with small symbol of a foot and part of a leg.
Your guide motions for you to continue.
Valegrim
Presumming you continue.
you are met in a large round room; that is fairly well lit; you see several other steel doors; and various guard pairs here as well as a few desks attended by wizard and cleric types.
on the side of each door are black and silver tapesteries; one has noble looking head and neck of a human; one a arm with a fist that I already described; one an open left hand with sparkles; and one of a foot with a running sandel.
Looking about; seems the wizards and clerics are near the "left hand", the thugs near the leather fist; the monks and ranger types near the foot and it is apparent they really dont seem to mingle.
Most of them seem to ignore you; others give you openly evaluating looks, a couple of the mages and clerics eyes open a bit when they see Aahz; who seems to be rubber necking around like crazy
Aahz "That door was TOTALLY COOL!, wonder why all the locks and holes; wonder what happens when....<he continues like any bright kid>"
Valegrim
The man is oriental, has his hands together inside his robes, awaiting you speaks in flawless Greek:
"if you will be so gracious as to come with me; I will take you to a place where you can gain sustanance and refresh yourselves with rest."
The door to the Foot area is already unlocked; and open; behind you is the sound and sights if you turn to look; of the door to the Fist area closing; the warrior takes out the spike; the door starts to autmatically close.
the foot door seems to work differently.
The guide walk through the door; this area is vastly different in some ways from the Fist area; it is still dimly lit, and there are still m groups of five, but only a few; but there is smells of nature and the like; firstly; you walk on a stone floor for about 40 ft that has about 2 inches of fine raked sand over the top; your guide leaves no footprints; but the rest of you, well, you know. After you pass a master and several acolytes examine your tracks and he points and speaks to them quietly; then they rake out the tracks.
then you enter a floor of reeds; which pops and bends as you walk on it; and thus you go through a bead curtained archway to a large room with various cots and mats.
"This room has been set aside for you; refreshments and bathing accoutrements will be brought", he bows and leaves ignoring any questions.
ok; what does the party do?

right before they are led out,...
Kemnebi looks at Aahz with a new appreciation. Even though he knows the kid is a Power, he still LOOKS, and acts, like a kid. But Aahz's insights are reminding the mage who he is talking to. He whispers to Aahz as the face off continues,...
"I believe your estimate of the odds are more accurate than any I might calculate." The furry mage says after a few thoughtful moments. "But I wouldn't want to place any bets, on either side. I'm,... not much of a gambler. At least I wasn't until I joined up with this group." HE adds wryly.
"Still, that's a fascinating insight about the Orks. I never knew that. Most of my learning has been from books. WHich are invaluable, but I'm beginning to realize that they tend to leave out tiny but important details. Like your information about one Ork group's fondness for games of chance, or exactly how uncomfortable the ground is to sleep on when you are an 'adventurer'."
He starts to say more, but quickly stops when the middle management comes in to escort them.
He follows, silently, observing everything he can, and trying not to make eye contact with the people in the hallway. At least not the obviously hostile ones. He watches in rapt fascination as the heavy door is manipulated.
"Dwarven Workmanship, it has to be!" He mutters excitedly to Aahz and Nebibit. When they enter the next chamber, the mage is rubbernecking as frantically as Kalona.
As they are left on their own, for the moment, Kemnebi sits and lets out a breath he didn't realize he was holding. The excitement and tension of the past few moments fades away, leaving him momentarily weary.
"Out of the frying pan, but is it into the fire?" He mutters.
"Um,... What next?" He asks no one inparticular.

Mi'lord Astinos, I believe this place would be a difficult seige; very difficult to sneak around in with so many tracking devices and alert guards, I believe Master Ronin knows his craft well. You can pray at any time; though you must choose the next 24 hour period dusk or dawn to receive new spells and at that time you must do your ritual of asking and ritual of thanking if your request for spells is granted.
so; if you were to pray and recieve spell this dusk; your next window would be tomorrow at dawn; then if you miss the next day at dawn; you would need to wait until dusk.
In game mechanics; you cant get spells refreshed earlier than a 24 hours period
this is for your diety as he/it/she will only recieve your requests during the break between day and night, though if you could find some perfect analogy of such and make a good request; it may be granted.
Even though it is past Dusk would it be okay to pray?

Frying pan; I dont see no fire; I am hungry too;
<looks at Kenembi>
do you eat rats; I had rats on a stick once; was pretty good, in some slathered spicy sauce; bet you like yurs raw though; being a cat and all...how about you Kalona; you like your cooked or raw, probably pleanty of rats to go around in a place like this"
Kemnebi cannot help but smile at Aahz's barrage of questions.
"Well, to be short, a book is one way of saving words where another can read them later, and therefore we mortals save and pass on information this way. They are mere objects, not people. Although one of my teachers did have a mind like an encyclopedia. He could remember almost everything that he had ever read."
"Yes, the room is a bit spartan. I'm sure they meant no insult, But, I'm pretty sure they were not considering the entertainment of young guests when they furnished it." Kemnebi looks around the room. "It is rather boring." He says, unknowingly echoing Aahz's pouty expression of boredom in the process.
"Ah, no. I see no cookware either. It was an expression, indicating that we have gotten out of a hot spot, but may still end up burned if not careful. It is merely an expression. Although, now that you mention it, although I had a little bit upstairs, all the excitement has made me hungry as well." He adds, looking around the room again. "They did say they were bringing food, didn't they?" He mumbles.
"Ah,... No. I cannot say that I have ever tried rat. Although the spicy sauce sounds very tempting. I'm pretty sure if I were to try it, I would prefer mine cooked though. I may be feline, but I'm civilized!" He says with a grin.

OOC: I'm never going to get in a fight. OOC
I Look for a bath. I find a cot. I put my backpack on it then I find some clean clothes. I strip off my armor then I take a bath. Then I tend to my armor. Then I eat. Note I drink ale all through these tasks. The I sleep with my axe in the bed with me.

Mi'lord Astinos, I believe this place would be a difficult seige; very difficult to sneak around in with so many tracking devices and alert guards, I believe Master Ronin knows his craft well. He seems careful enough to live yet a while longer; most in his situation are usually assassinated by their own captains; curious way to live.
I nod at Decidio's words.
"Indeed my lady Decidio, it does apper to be rather secure. I would still suggest a nominal watch, at least one person per shift. Other than that, I suggest we avail ourselves of comforts rarely available whilst on a mission and get some much needed rest."

A cat who never tried rat; curious, Aahz replies.
yeah, Spartan; so this is a warriors room, <his voice changes though he doesnt seem to recognise it> 100 of my faithful, 100 true hearts lead by a Noble King to stand for days againt the enemy of 100,000; a deed that will never die in mens hearts, <his voice changed back though he doesnt seem to notice>
yeah, we could use some toys, with a some of those reeds and some of that sand we could make a pretty cool little village and some carts and stuff, that would be fun.
<his face changes like a thunderhead rolling in from the distance>
HEY! NO SHORT JOKES; I...AM...NOT...SHORT AND WHAT IS THIS "WE MORTALS BIT? YOU SAYING I AM NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO BE MORTAL? YOU SAYING I AM NOT CIVILIZED, I AM MORE CIVIS THAN THE NEXT GUY,...<little tears stream down his face, looks down, in a meak voice> I have been *snif* more civil then those guys <points at Astinos, Llvenoc, Kosan>
you guys are mean; bunch of meanies, just like Blue Meanies....not as bad as the Green Meanies...ok; not anywhere near as the Grey Meanies <face takes a calculating look> and no need to mention the Black Meanies.... maybe my brother was right; says the whole world is doomed; might as well start here. <doesnt look like he believes it or wants to>
Aahz moves to the entrance of the room "com mon Kal, lets get us some sticks and stuff and play village. Dead to me; you dont look dead to me; that Drow looks nearly dead; wierd for a Drow, they usually look better, never met a snipe hunter before; didnt know Drow were snipe hunters. Doesnt matter I guess; soon there will be no more Drow"
