I apologize, but real life is making it difficult to keep up with posting. I am going to have to bow out at this time. It's been fun. Thanks.
Bummer. Sorry it didn't work out for you.
Keddah, does this mean we should go trolling for a new party member or are we going to make due?
Mikam Orlovski
My only concern is that we find someone who is interested in RP and can be an adult about the level of inter-party conflict that we are working through. They cannot come in and just stir the pot, or be so aggressively stupid that they just push, without knowing when to have their character ignore/walk away/slink away like a whipped puppy...its going to cause problems.
I expect that as we continue to play, we will work towards some sort of catharsis but that point is waaaay in the future, and we are going to need adult players who can closely manage themselves until that point.
Thalia "Winterflower"
What inter party conflict? I love you guys! Why don't you love me?
*runs away crying*
I was actually looking forward to progressing the rivalry with Felina. Not actually knowing anything about Toanga, he might have become some massive d*uchemonger when Thalia started actively worshiping Calistria.
According to Raxus, Winterflower has been out too much lately. Maybe she does need to get laid.
Thalia "Winterflower"
It's so long between posts, I honestly don't remember Thalia being so b*@~#y. She's angry at Cyean for making scenes out of incidences she dismisses with a jest (like a bard would) and Mikam for appearing to think that anything without a noble name is incapable of thinking for itself. I honestly don't know what she's done to piss Sev and Raxus off.
Anyone care to enlighten me?
Raxus Half-blood
Raxus doesn't like people who manipulate other people. He also grew up in an environment where females that acted the way Thalia does were generally trying to get their rivals killed or use weaker individuals for sport.
Raxus has the ideals of a very simple-minded paladin. You'll notice he tried to save who he could. He doesn't have any higher code or divine insight, just a belief that people aught to treat each other like they want to be treated, and that bullies, liars and tyrants need to be stomped out. He'd probably be a paladin if it weren't for his inherent anger.
Basically, Raxus doesn't care that Thalia's a whore. He grew up around blatant, manipulative sexuality being used as a weapon. He just cares about her superiority complex and the fact that her motives aren't clear.
Thalia "Winterflower"
Have I tried to manipulate anyone in the party through sex? I do not believe that I have. H*ll, I'm not even trying to manipulate the bandits through sex. There's no "have sex with me and you'll live" going on. It's Thalia being herself. She literally needs to be f*cked to be useful to anyone.
Thalia's CN leaning towards G. If she was anything else, she'd be actively seeking retribution for Felina's slights to her instead of laughing them off. Ever read anything about Calistria? She's about as petty as a 15 year old girl, and actively encourages her clergy to be, too. There are clerics and other "priests" of Her, elves, who walk around for centuries visiting vengeance on generations of families for perceived slights in the past. That could be anything from something so slight as "this guy said I was a queer 500 years ago, so I am entitled to kill his great-great-x7 grandson and his entire family because that's vengeance."
And slinging dead bodies around like they're garbage is not paladin like, and it's no where near good. I would think someone would take notice that Thalia isn't caring for all the bloodshed and maybe wonder if she isn't a better person than she appears to be and not be planning to beat on her because you don't agree with her methods.
Raxus Half-blood
Woah there. You asked, I answered. I'm not coming down on you for how you're playing the character, my character is simply reacting to how he's perceiving her.
I didn't say you tried to manipulate anyone through sex, I said you manipulate through sexuality. One of your character's main attributes that we've seen is sexuality, another is a willingness to manipulate. They don't always go hand in hand, sure, but Raxus isn't exactly one to pick things apart.
and i didnt say Raxus was trying to be a paladin, I said he might have been one if he'd had the right teachings. He doesn't care about the bodies because he was told when he was young that their spirits left when they died and that a corpse was just an empty shell. Respecting a dead body, to him, makes about as much sense as respecting a broken egg shell. To him, he's just taking out the trash so that the place doesn't start to smell.
Raxus isn't one to try to figure out deeper meanings so he's not going to wonder why Thalia is adverse to bloodshed. He's a pretty face value kind of guy. So far he's seen one act of kindness out of her, and it was his first impression so it was powerful. Since then he's seen a lot of cattiness, wanton sexuality and aloofness.
As for Calistra, Raxus knows absolutely nothing about her. He's only barely aware that religion exists.
DM_Keddah
I'd say that your interpretation of Thalia makes her... intimidating, her changes of mood, her attitude, it's not unexpected that other characters find it difficult to trust her. As I see it is not that they have anything against her, just that they're in a difficult situation and they are not sure they can trust her. Maybe I'm wrong of course.
Thalia "Winterflower"
Gaaarrrrggggh. Why does no one want to play divine?
Sheebus ghost. I could retconn Thalia to be an actual priestess of Calistria and take the Charm Domain, if you like. She'd be slightly less... intense in terms of her force of personality, but it would not effect how I am playing her any differently.
Except the sleep spell.
Mikam should remain a sorc.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
Aura (Ex)
A cleric of a chaotic, evil, good, or lawful deity has a particularly powerful aura corresponding to the deity’s alignment (see the detect evil spell for details).
Channel Energy (Su)
Regardless of alignment, any cleric can release a wave of energy by channeling the power of her faith through her holy (or unholy) symbol. This energy can be used to cause or heal damage, depending on the type of energy channeled and the creatures targeted.
A good cleric (or a neutral cleric who worships a good deity) channels positive energy and can choose to deal damage to undead creatures or to heal living creatures. An evil cleric (or a neutral cleric who worships an evil deity) channels negative energy and can choose to deal damage to living creatures or to heal undead creatures. A neutral cleric of a neutral deity (or one who is not devoted to a particular deity) must choose whether she channels positive or negative energy. Once this choice is made, it cannot be reversed. This decision also determines whether the cleric can cast spontaneous cure or inflict spells (see spontaneous casting).
Channeling energy causes a burst that affects all creatures of one type (either undead or living) in a 30-foot radius centered on the cleric. The amount of damage dealt or healed is equal to 1d6 points of damage plus 1d6 points of damage for every two cleric levels beyond 1st (2d6 at 3rd, 3d6 at 5th, and so on). Creatures that take damage from channeled energy receive a Will save to halve the damage. The DC of this save is equal to 10 + 1/2 the cleric's level + the cleric's Charisma modifier. Creatures healed by channel energy cannot exceed their maximum hit point total—all excess healing is lost. A cleric may channel energy a number of times per day equal to 3 + her Charisma modifier. This is a standard action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity. A cleric can choose whether or not to include herself in this effect.
A cleric must be able to present her holy symbol to use this ability.
Thalia will channel positive energy, and harm with negative energy via Versatile channeling.
Domains
A cleric's deity influences her alignment, what magic she can perform, her values, and how others see her. A cleric chooses two domains from among those belonging to her deity. A cleric can select an alignment domain (Chaos, Evil, Good, or Law) only if her alignment matches that domain. If a cleric is not devoted to a particular deity, she still selects two domains to represent her spiritual inclinations and abilities (subject to GM approval). The restriction on alignment domains still applies.
Each domain grants a number of domain powers, dependent upon the level of the cleric, as well as a number of bonus spells. A cleric gains one domain spell slot for each level of cleric spell she can cast, from 1st on up. Each day, a cleric can prepare one of the spells from her two domains in that slot. If a domain spell is not on the cleric spell list, a cleric can prepare it only in her domain spell slot. Domain spells cannot be used to cast spells spontaneously.
In addition, a cleric gains the listed powers from both of her domains, if she is of a high enough level. Unless otherwise noted, activating a domain power is a standard action. Cleric domains are listed at the end of this class entry.
Orisons
Clerics can prepare a number of orisons, or 0-level spells, each day, as noted on Table: Cleric under “Spells per day.” These spells are treated like any other spell, but they are not expended when cast and may be used again.
Spontaneous Casting
A good cleric (or a neutral cleric of a good deity) can channel stored spell energy into healing spells that she did not prepare ahead of time. The cleric can “lose” any prepared spell that is not an orison or domain spell in order to cast any cure spell of the same spell level or lower (a cure spell is any spell with “cure” in its name).
An evil cleric (or a neutral cleric of an evil deity) can’t convert prepared spells to cure spells but can convert them to inflict spells (an inflict spell is one with “inflict” in its name).
A cleric who is neither good nor evil and whose deity is neither good nor evil can convert spells to either cure spells or inf lict spells (player’s choice). Once the player makes this choice, it cannot be reversed. This choice also determines whether the cleric channels positive or negative energy (see channel energy).
Chaotic, Evil, Good, and Lawful Spells
A cleric can’t cast spells of an alignment opposed to her own or her deity’s (if she has one). Spells associated with particular alignments are indicated by the chaotic, evil, good, and lawful descriptors in their spell descriptions.
Bonus Languages
A cleric’s bonus language options include Celestial, Abyssal, and Infernal (the languages of good, chaotic evil, and lawful evil outsiders, respectively). These choices are in addition to the bonus languages available to the character because of her race.
Domain Powers
Charm (Lust)
Dazing Touch (Sp): You can cause a living creature to become dazed for 1 round as a melee touch attack. Creatures with more Hit Dice than your cleric level are unaffected. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.
Trickery
Copycat (Sp): You can create an illusory double of yourself as a move action. This double functions as a single Mirror Image and lasts for a number of rounds equal to your cleric level, or until the illusory duplicate is dispelled or destroyed. You can have no more than one copycat at a time. This ability does not stack with the Mirror Image spell. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

Sev Granger
Sev's not sure about Thalia because, well he's not sure about anyone. We have no real allegiance to each other yet, no shared experience or common goal. Mikam and Raxus are both straightforward; battle and a common enemy are the way to get to know them. Thalia is not straightforward; she's a woman and slippery, and acts it. For all the men know, she's off conspiring with the bandit prisoners. SO, yes, Sev doesn't trust her and won't until she's proven herself or shared some sort of awful experience or saved him; it's the way hard men are.
Cyean
I know why Cyean doesn't like Thalia. Because he thinks he's a leader and has to defend people from the scary, scary bard who has done nothing to threaten the party in the least.
You are wrong with all counts on that one. He does not think he is a leader he just knows he has the most experience with the outside and he does like Thalia. He just likes to poke fun at her since everyone else is so up tight.
Doomed Hero
Anyone really opposed to Thalia going divine, if it comes to it? We need it more than the bard's fifth wheelin' and I have just as much experience if not more running clerics. Actually, they're my two favorite classes, and Pro. Courtesan is my favorite profession.
You should play what you like. That being said, a cleric would be very handy.
In terms of character interaction it might help as well, being that a cleric's party role lends itself towards being a caretaker, that might help expose Thalia's nurturing nature a bit more.
For Raxus specifically, he's a walking holy symbol (though he doesn't know it). If Thalia were to figure that out it could lead to an interesting dynamic.
Doomed Hero
the scary, scary bard who has done nothing to threaten the party in the least.
This is true. Thalia hasn't threatened the party. What she has done is made no attempt to hide her scorn for most of the characters in the party. I think Raxus is the only person in the group Thalia hasn't insulted. In fact, I'm pretty sure that Raxus is the only person in the group that has seen Thalia's nurturing and kind side. (the scene when she followed him when he walked away in the bard king's hall)
Let's break it down-
Sev is an elitest jerk with a chip on his shoulder.
Mikam is a nervous coward.
Raxus is an emotionally crippled brute.
Thalia is a vindictive, judgmental whore.
Felina was a distant and creepy b&~!!.
Toanga was an assh*le without much of a personality.
Cyean has been the only consistently personable individual in the whole group. The rest of us are pretty awful. I'm hoping it's the beginning of a character arc wherein all of us become greater than we are right now, and even if we still wouldn't mind watching the world burn we still develop a sense of loyalty to each other. Right now it's feeling like the rest of us are coming together in response to a mutual distaste for Thalia.
I can see how you'd be upset about that. In the IC thread, it's fine to play Thalia however you'd like. Here in OOC though, it might help if you try to remember that none of us have any personal issues with your character or with you. We're all adults and we knew what we were signing on for when we started the game. I think we can discuss the In Game issues without barbs thrown at each other.
What would you like to see happen in the game to bring the party together? What are you confused or upset about?
Thalia "Winterflower"
Nah, was just like "huh, i hadn't really said anything to Sev" and all I could recall was agreeing with him on several points, so it was new to me, is all. And I didn't know about the cat in heat, since she danced around the courier and then pretty much stuck to practicing with her lute silently while we camped out. Had she any interest in pursuing any sort of relationship with anyone in the party, she would have brought it up. I don't even think the conversation she had with Desmond was blatantly sexual, but again, was a while back, so I don't recall so much.
Bandits, yeah. Definitely. And she is being a b#*++ right now, and was to Felina, I totally agree with that assessment.
Right now I'm trying to get as much information from the bandits as possible, and when it's time, Thalia'll be sharing it, because there's no way my bard (or possibly cleric now) is going to take on a dude who wields an axe as big as a man on her own, but together with Mikam and Sev try to reason a way to neutralize his lieutenants and take him out.
Nothing brings a group together like disposing of an outside threat, and I think Ox and his cronies make a good enough target :P
Thalia "Winterflower"
Couldn't avoid the crack at Felina. The resolution of this famous scene passed through my mind.
Thalia "Winterflower"
so can i get a confirmation of the set up right now?
thalia is going to check on fleet, sev is attending his stuff, raxus is standing in the midst of all the new graves alone and cyean and mikam are talking amongst themselves while the bandits... do what bandits do?
just wondering where I should hop in here.

"He says that the first impression sets the tone for who the person is. But She says this is true only with a crystal ball's assistance. There are benign and malign qualities first impressions miss. Wisdom says then that by the actions is one judged, not by the first meeting. And that shall be the law."
