Garborn Herwonkir
Garborn grins down at the defeated foes.
"That was fun!
...
But you know, I take it back, I don't think we'll be frying these fishes."
Walking over to the chest that had seemed to interested the enemy so, Garborn prods it with his foot.
"You know, it looked like this is what they wanted in particular.
Maybe we should take it to the captain and see what he thinks?"
Mazhir Ketamet
As the fight ends, Mazhir lets out a wordless moan of pain and presses a hand against his torn cheek as he slumps against the wall. Fishing out his wand, his manages to grate out the spell-trigger and sighs in relief as fresh skin stretches over the wound.

"Ahh...well, it seems I should stick to picking at the edges of the fight and leave the dashing weapon-play to others." Standing, he points at the hole hacked in the outer hull. "Um, can anyone do something about that?"
Calamys
"Անհավատալի! Just incredible!" Calamys says in mild awe, his speech shifting back to Common in mid-sentence. The scholarly fellow sits down on a nearby barrel in a bit of a daze, blathering on while the seasoned combatants go about assessing the situation. "I've seen a scuffle or two before, but you're all really most impressive - well done!"
He gazes down at his blood-stained garments, giving them a sniff and making a face. "Interesting; their blood smells little better than they do..." he mutters to himself as he begins to ineffectually dab at his shirt with a handkerchief. "Does it possess some chemical necessary to their survival, perhaps a more efficient coagulant to combat their aquatic environment? Or is it merely a byproduct of their diet?" Now apparently oblivious to his new shipmates, Calamys stoops down next to a bisected sahuagin corpse to inspect its anatomy, squatting unconcerned amidst the offal. "Most peculiar..."
Garborn Herwonkir
Garborn scratches his chin a little.
"Yeah, we might want to mention that hole to the captain as well really...
Might be he wants to set ashore to do some repairs or something."
Picking up the chest and putting it over one shoulder, Garborn grins at the others.
"Shall we go and give him the good news?"
Khaz Cloudbreaker
"Aye. If it gets us off this floatin' death-bucket I be all for it."
DM_Keddah
As the sounds of battle subsides some of the sailor come down following their captain. He inmediately order Board that hole! Valkur's wet cock! We'll have to anchor for a while until we can fix that enough to finish our trip. he turns to the party and bows to them I find myself in the company of heroes it seems. You have my thanks but if you don't mind we'll dispose of those bodies, rotten fish is not a nice smell he sees Garborn holding the chest and stares silently for a couple seconds Is there any reason you're holding that? I know I offered a fair payment but I get to choose how I make it, yes? he flashes his golden smile at the tall man.
Garborn Herwonkir
Garborn chuckles and pats the chest.
"Oh WE don't want it, but they DID.
See, when we came down here, they were rummaging around something fierce, but once they got this chest they stopped and seemed excited."
Shrugging a little, Garborn then holds the chest out to the captain.
"Seems like whatever is in it might be the reason for the attack, they knew it was here after all."
Calamys
Looking up from his inspection at the captain's arrival, the scholar seems a bit put out by the man's request to dispose of the bodies, but stands up and moves aside all the same. It's his boat, after all. He nods in agreement with Garborn's evaluation of the sahuagins' behavior.
"Their leader especially seemed intent on retrieving that specific box, searching through the other cargo to find it." He indicates the remains of the fearsome four-armed mutant. "Though perhaps rather than planning to intercept that specific case aboard this specific vessel, it might instead contain something which drew them to it, as moths to a flame?"
Khaz Cloudbreaker
"Fascinatin', really. But we've got a hole to plug, eh? I don't fancy sinkin' to the bottom where the fishmen can rummage through yon chest at their leisure."
Khaz Cloudbreaker
"Calamys. Ye be one o' them finger wagglers, eh? Can't ye magic the holes shut?"
Mending
Calamys
"Well, I suppose I could try, sir dwarf... I'm not a shipwright, but I have read a fairly detailed memoir of one, and believe I can effectively supervise mundane repairs. Furthermore, so long as none of the pieces of have washed away, I can mend the original timbers with a bit of magic." Calamys begins searching the floor for pieces of timber, trying to fit them back into place and hold them there with castings of his mending orison.

Laijiri
After enough time to let the excitement of battle wear off, Laijiri went to check on Will, then taking him along when treating any injuries that could be treated. "We're going to have start getting you trained", she said with an encouraging smile. As she checked on everyone, she inquired on what he might be interested in that could be learned from any of those present.
As the others were dumping the bodies of the fish-creatures, she had an idea. Fresh foodstuffs were not the easiest thing to get on this ship, and they might be able to fish up something using parts of the bodies as bait. "Captain, which of your men are the best at fishing?"

Mazhir Ketamet
Crinkling his nose, Mazhir objects. "That doesn't strike you as a trifle...barbaric? The sea devils are vile brutes to be sure, but they're still sentient creatures and I'm not comfortable with using their corpses in such a manner any more than I would be if it were one of us."
Laijiri
Turning to Mazhir, she blinked, not having considered it in that manner. "I was not suggesting that we use the entire body as bait, but I am a healer, and certainly capable of cleanly removing a large amount of flesh to bait a decent hook or two." She did look a bit thoughtful. "I suspect they would have simply eaten us, given the option, and while I am curious to see if they could be used as food, I wanted to catch a shark."
She grinned at the mention of the idea. "I haven't tried shark before, and I can certainly cook it. Using them is just a more practical idea. Weren't they just going to go over the side?" Her expression was curious, not quite seeing the ethical objection. It might have been a side-effect of her healer training. "While it may be a bit gruesome, I admit, just getting a chance to examine a body would be good practice for me."
Khaz Cloudbreaker
"Seems to me that if ye try to eat me, it's fair game for me to eat ye. 'specially if ye be more fish than man. But I'm nay one to offend the religious sensibilities o' a comrade. Let's just get this bucket to try land."
Can disable device be used at all to help mend the ship? Just trying to find ways for Khaz to be helpful. If not, he'll go above deck and keep watch for more attacks.
Garborn Herwonkir
Garborn shrugs a little.
"I don't think shark would make very good eating.
But I am willing to be proven wrong.
Mind you, you'd need a pretty big hook, and some sturdy rope.
Mot to mention something to tether it to."
DM_Keddah
Captain Nassir smile fades as he stares at the group discussing using the sahuagin corpses as bait. You realise there's a storm coming? I would prefer not to have sharks around if one of my men falls over board, not that the cowards don't deserve it! his golden teeth show up again The hole is boarded as good as it will be, and if you're hungry we have dried biscuits and rice ready for supper
Garborn Herwonkir
"Not setting ashore to whether the storm eh?
Not a problem for me, but I see some green gills here, hah!"
Deciding to be serious for a moment, Garborn pokes the mysterious chest.
"So, going to keep it in your cabin for now Captain?
Just be careful, that's all I'm saying. Seem someone wants it bad, or possibly want to prevent it from reaching it's destination."
Laijiri
The mention of the storm brought her back from her daydreams of shark steaks, and she had enough grace to look mildly embarrassed about her actions.
"My apologies captain, I would not endanger the crew any more than my presence here already has." Surprisingly, she managed to keep a straight face through all of that, raising an eyebrow slightly at the offer of the cabin. "Should the captain feel my presence in his cabin would aid security, then I would certainly accept." Some of the crew were none too subtle with their expressions, and it would not do to get on their bad side (or the captain's) by having to harm a couple of them to keep them in line.
Calamys
Once he's done "overseeing" the repair of the ship's hull, Calamys joins the others on deck. He pulls his cloak close against the rising storm, though he seems more worried about protecting his book-stuffed satchel than himself. "Unfortunately I'd have to advise that someone - preferably several someones - stay on watch through the storm! These sahuagin are strong swimmers, and if there's more of them bent on retrieving that case they may not be deterred by the weather," he shouts against the wind. "Of course I don't mean to overstep my bounds, Captain - it's your ship."
Looking up at the angry sky, he wipes raindrops from his spectacles. "It promises to be an exciting ride regardless!"
If no other plan is presented, Calamys will stow his gear belowdecks and attempt to ride out the storm on deck - but will stick prudently close to the hatch!
DM_Keddah
The captain thinks about Calamys' words. Well, I'll make sure some of my men keep watch to raise a cry if anything happens. he gestures towards Laijiri and smiles Now if you'll accompany me my lady
The sailors set hammocks for the rest of the party to sleep on.
Garborn Herwonkir
"Around these parts, sailors try to placate Umberlee, she is the goddess of the sea.
And mark my words, they try to PLACATE her, not PRAY to her.
She isn't called the b+$~@ queen for nothing..."
Huh, so THAT word gets censored eh? No mention of the female dog then, got it.
Laijiri
"...This noblewoman, did she seem confident about that chest?" As the captain set to work on the chest, she began preparing her healer's kit, just in case.
DM_Keddah
The sailors under deck set hammocks for the party, they seem to give Garborn a wide berth seeing him covered in sahuagin blood.
Young Will approaches Khaz and says Sir, is travelling with you and your friends always so dangerous? Cos I may try my luck as a beggar in the first town we reach if it is! he smiles for the first time since he left the jail at his own joke.
Calamys
Calamys watches the angry sky and sea, impressed by the magnitude of nature's fury. He'd always liked a good storm, and would often stare out across the water from the windows of Candlekeep to watch them as he did now from the deck of the Unsinking Mermaid. Amazing!
Laijiri
"Led a life of adventure before you took to the seas, Captain?", her tone was impressed, even as she stood clear putting something solid between herself and the chest.
Khaz Cloudbreaker
Khaz looks at Will, and completely missing the joke says "Nay honor in beggin.' Learn a trade lad, somethin' which will serve ye well. I'm an archer an' a scout, it is dangerous, aye. If that worries ye, figure out what ye be good at an' master it."
Calamys
Once he's had his fill of the bracing weather, Calamys returns below decks, sopping wet, where he joins Khaz and Will. "You're both missing the most wonderful storm!" He stumbles into a bulkhead at a sudden rocking of the ship and clumsily slides down into a sitting position, a smile on his face. "How are things down here?"
