Ynyr the Artificer |

This is the draft of Ynyr the Artificer.
The Dungeon magazine only has 2 At-Will powers for the artificer, but Ynyr is human so gets a third. The WotC character builder actually presented me with a third At-Will - Magic Weapon (from Eberron) so I took that one as well.
Dungeon magazine implies that an Artificer can make reagents from mundane materials, but I am interpreting that as only being able to make the stuff needed for his daily powers. So I have bought 100gp worth of alchemical reagents to enable Ynyr to make stuff on the fly - to supplement the things he already has.

As far as Ynyr's dagger is concerned, I've assumed that he tinkered with it a bit and turned his +2 dagger of giant slaying into a +1 vengeful dagger. This is a level 5 item so I have taken up the level 4 item slot and paid the difference between level 4 and level 5 (i.e. 160GP). Is that acceptable?
According to the Character Builder from WotC, it says that if you are starting at a level higher than level 1, you can take the three magical items for free and also any non-magical adventuring gear that you like before having to start paying for things. The 560gp you get is for extra magical items (or for saving). Id this the way you are doing this?
The short answer is yes to all of that. It is indeed acceptable in the case of your dagger, and for the equipment buying that is also what the DMG says.
Looks like we are all set except for Ddraig Goch the dragonborn.
So we have:
Nechtan - ranger
Healaugh - bard
Ynyr - artificer
Darvyl - fighter
Greylan - wizard
Draig Goch - paladin
I'm still faffing with languages.

The Moonshae Isles are divided into small kingdoms between two different human peoples, the Northmen and the Waelish.
The Kingdoms of the Waelish:
Callidyr - realm of the high king, occupies most of the isle of Alaron. The most cosmopolitan and oldest kingdom. I suggest that Ddraig Goch is from here.
Corwell - occupies the southern half of Gwynneth, the second largest Waelish kingdom. Bounded by the sacred wilderness of Myrloch Vale.
Moray - a rough land inhabited by trolls, ogres and savage fighters. I suggest Nechtan is from here. The communities are often battling the Fhoi Myore (a blanket term for giant-kin and other nasties).
Snowdown - a peaceful, agricultural land run along more democratic lines than the other kingdoms. Suffers from pirate raids.
The Kingdoms of the Northmen:
Norland - the westernmost isle. Sturdy warriors, and valiant explorers.
Norheim - a string of isolated isles, the inhabitants practice limited agriculture and supplement it with raiding. Nechtan could also be from here.
Oman Isle - the strongest Northman kingdom, also controls northern Gwynneth. Suffers from giant raids.
Gnarhelm - the north of Alaron is occupied by this kingdom. The Northmen here practice mining, and are better horsemen than their kin.
The Korrinish Archipelago:
Standing outside the larger squabbles of the Northmen vs the Waelish, each island here is its own domain. It is a realm of fishermen, herders, pirates and merchants.
Other Realms:
Myrloch Vale - the sacred domain of the goddess known elsewhere as Melora.
Synnoria - land of the eladrin, isolated and mysterious. Eladrin in general have a mystique. Greylan would most likely be from here.
Languages
If your character is from a Waelish kingdom replace Common with Waelish.
If your character is from a Northman kingdom replace Common with Illuskan.
If your character is from the Korrinish Archipelago replace Common with Korrinish.
Greylan would have Waelish instead of Common. Ddraig Goch also has Draconic, as well as Waelish.
Everyone gets bonus languages equal to their Intelligence modifier. This is a house rule. I suggest that you all take Waelish if you don't have it already.

FabesMinis |

You're screwed.
Just kidding.
You just get the language of your homeland. It looks like pretty much everyone can speak Wealish or Illuskan so either of those would be fine as your homeland tongue.
Humans get a bonus language anyway, so you will have two regardless.

Rambler -
Nechtan does not get his Strength bonus to damage with Twin Strike.
I never noticed that before. Fixed.
Took Fhoi Myore as my second tongue. I may have to take linguist later to learn Korrinish :)
EDIT: Careful Attack is the same, no Str bonus. Wow, the rangers that I DM are going to be ticked off that I joined this game ;)

Game Thread is up; I believe Elor is typing/cutting/pasting Ddraig in the near future. I have been delayed by my computer flipping out and having to reinstall the OS.
You are an interesting group of characters. I'm sure you'll come up with far more interesting relationships between them than I could.
Healaugh the bard and Ynyr the artificer are old friends. I joked earlier with Rosey that Nechtan was Ynyr's surly manservant/bodyguard, but feel free to take that with a pinch of salt...

FabesMinis |

And we're off. The adventure takes place in late summer/early autumn in the year 1298.
I am assuming that you have proved yourselves to the King (or at least one or two of you have - my guess is either Healaugh in his unique manner or Ddraig for being honorable etc) and that the trusted people have a group of comrades (the rest of you ne'er do wells) :D

All the humans are between 5'4" and 5'6" - why this amuses me, I don't know.
Some ideas for character background:
Ddraig
a) he is from a land across the sea and is in the Moonshaes for a mysterious purpose - maybe even he doesn't know!
b) he was found washed up in a coracle on a beach and raised by kindly humans
c) he used to be human and earth magic infused him with the power of a dragon, and he has no memory of his past
Yes, I have an odd mind.
Greylan

Ambassador sounds good to me! They'll rue the day!
On a side note; Crash-mas is here, and I'm busier than anticipated. I'm travelling all around, and I didn't intend to, so I think that I'll maybe join the group at a later date, or something?! I don't want to hold things up, but it's also very feasible for Greylan to come running in stage left, at some point in a few days. Sorry everyone, but you know how it goes!

Ddraig Goch |

Ddraig wished that he could remember why he had come to this strange place. His memories of his past were cloudy, and only afforded him the briefest of glimpses into the reason for his travels.
He knows that he has a mission to fulfil; some destiny that awaits him. What that destiny is, he does not know; only that he must show unfailing valour and dedication to his deity, and that his destiny will be revealed to him when the time is right.
And so he journeys, looking for adventure and wrongs to right.

Nechtan of the Krutne |

I just realized that I didn't add one of Nechtan's powers to his profile: Disruptive Strike. I thought that his options seemed a little limited for 3rd level ;)
Also, my availability will be spotty for the next 3 days. I will post actions ahead of time when possible, if that's ok.

Elor Danar |

OK - this is me being thick:
I've finally worked out how to get Invisible Castle to roll properly for me, but I still don't know how to insert a link into a post so that it simply comes up with "Initiative (1d20+2)= 7" and a roll-over link to IC rather than having to type things in, and manually insert a link to IC.
Can someone talk me through it?
Thanks

Rev Rosey |

It's this way. Once you hit the "roll dice" button, it takes you to a new page. At the bottom of that page is a whole slew of random code. Click on one of them (html is my choice, but any of them work) and that copies it to your clipboard.
When you post your move and rolls, just right click and choose "paste" and it sticks the link in for you.
And just out of interest, what are you doing to Invisible Castle that I'm not? It hates the sight of me so much that it won't even let me in. We have a very damaged relationship and a lot of work to do to make this work I suspect.

When it does that to me, I close the tab, close the browser, then re-open everything.
The click-to-copy function doesn't work for me, though -- I suspect my browser is "protecting" me. I have to select the link text and hit 'copy'

Alrighty, DM secrets!

Paraphrasing what I said in the Savage Blight ooc thread:
Sorry, but I'm going to be AFK for the next 36 hrs or so.
I'm going to a convention in Toronto to play some Pathfinder Society stuff.
I'm sure that you can run Nechtan if necessary, but I shouldn't hold things up too much. Feel free to make saves as they come up
