Introductions first would be good idea, then we know who we're playing with and can work out how we got together.

Pavo Baradin, a lean Tiefling of average height, only his red tinted eyes really give away his race.

Pavo is quiet and polite, he is a professional in his trade and values his reputation as a trustworthy and skillful trapfinder.

Born in Cheliax he has no great fondness for the place and travels as often as he can, this trip to Arcadia being one such opportunity for him.

Leaving Cheliax from Kintargo we would sale to the city of Segada on the eastern coast of Arcadia. (Pathfinder book Distant shores).

If people want Pavo can have been there before and play guide and knowbot for Segada if no one else has the book?

Male Half orc Paladin 1 (redeemer archetype) AC 18 , HP 11/11, Int+1, Percep+1

A man looking normal in most respects sits smiling among a group of dour dwarves speaking in dwarven as if it is his native tongue....

He is outfitted as a knight or fighter of some type. He is sharpening arrows from his quiver with a whetstone checking the edges and point of each in turn....

#1. As far as he knows he was born here likely to orc parents who each had the taint of human blood. When he was born he appeared as a perfectly normal human baby.

#2. The baby was found by dwarves who thought him a lost human, until they discovered he had dark vision. Instead the decided to raise him....
....read back story for details...

RP note: the dwarves are his family and he works to redeem any who stray from the path. Interestingly as raised by all the dwarves of the clan he was given authority to settle disputes fairly and trusted because of his status.

A young dwarf, Varkas has been seeking purpose in his life, especially after his older brother, Vikras, was killed when both youngsters were kidnapped by Drow near Highhelm. Varkas' parents seemed to have become estranged from him after Varkas was found safe on the surface after somehow escaping captivity. Vikras was always the favored one, being the elder, of course. Varkas decided to drift, working in mines (and occasionally working on armor), and headed west through the spine of the Menador Mountains, coming to Kintargo with a trading party from the mines. There, in Kintargo, he met Pavo, who talked of adventure in Arcadia.

GM - are we doing favored class bonuses?

Male Tiefling Rogue 1, Ac 16, hp 9/9 init +3 , Darkvision, Perception +5 (Trapfinding +6)

Pavo speaks both Dwarven and Undercommon.

He and Varkas both seem to be wandering, looking for a place where they can find their roles.

He's worked with Dwarfs many times in his job as a Trapfinder. He likes them, preferring their straightforward nature to the intrigues of his homeland.

Male Half Elf Wizard (evoker) 1

Dorgan has been recently abandoned by his family do to their fear of his awakening magic. He has recently came to Arcadia via the same ship as Pavo although he didn't talk to anybody as he pondered ways to make his parents and gain honor for honor his future actions.

Doragn walks with purpose looking for companions to find honor and adventure with.

Varkas at first was of course suspicious of Pavo, but Pavo's quiet demeanor and wanderlust led Varkas to find Pavo an interesting person to get to know better. When Pavo suggested heading to Arcadia, Varkas gained leave from the mining company (who withheld his last pay), and cast his die with Pavo.

So the dwarves I know are not these particular dwarves, but that suits me fine.

The dwarves Constantine had recently met were very unlike the kinsmen that he had lived with for most of his life, he had been making journeys to Abadar's temple looking for direction and where he might aid in establishing, law, justice and civilization....

He had thought his mission might be into the wilderness of Arcadia.

Since Varkas and Pavo have already met each other...leaving me Dorgan!
But when he came out of the temple, he saw a dwarf he did not recognize the stranger had lighter hair and complexion than the clan, so he approached him....

@ Dorgan
"Pardon me, are you here on business with the clan of Splintershield?"

Spoiler:
Any problem calling the clan Splintershield?

Male NG Kellid Witch 5/Sorcerer* | HP: 27/30 | AC: 16 12 (12 Tch, 14 10 Fl) | CMB: +1, CMD: 13 (11 Fl) | F: +3, R: +4, W: +5 | Init: +2 | Perc: +11, SM +2 | Speed 30ft | Active conditions: mage armor

So I'm building my Oread Druid, Yab Erdun, and all of the choices I'm making are very monk-like. I think he needs to be a monk instead. 2 questions:

For the players: If I change direction from Druid to Monk, will that work with party balance? I was always planning on a melee build, so I was never going to add much healing in the first place, and with 8 players, I think that losing the companion isn't really a big deal.

For the GM: My heart is set on the Oread's Student of Stone archetype, but I'm also a huge fan of the Unchained Monk. Could we work out a way to play the Unchained Monk with this archetype? We'd obviously have to negotiate some compromises to deal with the older class features that aren't around to be replaced, but I'm willing to work something out if we can do that.

Background stuff: I'll be taking the Dwarf Blooded feat, so he's a dwarven Oread instead of a human-descended Oread. Yab was born to dwarven parents and his terran bloodline showed up in puberty. There were a few years of awkwardness, but dwarves think nothing of rolling with the punches and quickly adapted. He grew up knowing one or more of the dwarves on this quest, and my inspiration was that he's kind of a guardian angel for one of the dwarves in the party. It could play out interesting if Yab were enlisted secretly by Varkas or Dorgan's family to keep an eye out for their estranged son.

Male Tiefling Rogue 1, Ac 16, hp 9/9 init +3 , Darkvision, Perception +5 (Trapfinding +6)

Well, long voyage to Arcada, boredom sets in.

Pavo brings out the cards, no one has any money so they play long, complicated games and get to know each other.

After a few drinks they start playing for dares. Which is why Pavo had to stroll the foredeck naked one evening, pretending he wasn't aware he had no clothes on.

Anyone else have any embarrassing memories?

It will likely mean we will have to pool resources to cover a wand of cure light wounds, 50 charges go pretty fast...

I am Dorgan Valknut a wandering Sorcerer and I accept your invitation to hoist a few tankards of ale.

"Well met Dorgan, I do not have the constitution for ale of a dwarf, but I do fair enough at drinking games."

He holds up two fingers and when the wench looks at him he makes the sign for pitchers....

"I do not recall seeing you before, where does your clan hail from?"

Well met Sir Constantine, I hail from Highhelm although it has been years since I saw my home."

With no one really talking to anybody Pavo finds a comfortable spot, folds his bedroll into a cushion and sits down, shuffling a deck of cards he looks at Varkas. "Feel like a game?"

"It is a good name Sir Constantine and my lighter hair is uncommon back home to." Looking at the fellow travelers he hears Pavo's question about a friendly game. He grins at Sir Constantine and asks, " I would like play, are you interested?"

"Barkeep - pints of ale until blondie here passes out...on me!" Varkas smirks keenly at Dorgan. "Greetings, magic-wielder. I am Varkas."

sorry for the lateness

Jane has been traveling since her escape from her prearranged marriage, and after a long journey, she ended up on the coast of Arcadia.

Being a Gnome of many talents, mostly explosive ones, Jane started to tag along with different adventurers and then ended up with this band of rabble. One of the main things she likes to do, is make different elixirs and give them to the Half-Orc and calls them ale.

"Here you go Constantine, another special brew." she says with a smile on her face.

Male Tiefling Rogue 1, Ac 16, hp 9/9 init +3 , Darkvision, Perception +5 (Trapfinding +6)

Pavo nods back to Sir Constantine. "No problem, not much deception involved anyway. You can't out bluff a Dwarf, not with those beards to hide behind!"

He looks at Dorgan. "Pull up a seat friend."

And to Louisiana Jane."And you Milady?"

(OC: Pavo is offering to play something like Euchre or 500. A game for points rather than cash.)

Male Half orc Paladin 1 (redeemer archetype) AC 18 , HP 11/11, Int+1, Percep+1

Constantine inspects the foam on top of the ale, looking to make certain that the gnome did not spit in it.

"Ah LJ the dwarves will be impressed with you, for certain according to them all gnomes are soft, but you have a strength about you, is there such a thing as a dwome? gnarf?"

He drinks the ale anyway.

"Unlikely anyone will bother us, though you lot look like no accounts for certain, I am keeping an eye on you so that everyone may be at ease."
Constantine smiles and laughs

I'm open to working with it. What changes were you thinking? I'm going to have to read through both of the archetypes but I'm nothing if not flexible.

How does everybody feel about this as the lead in to the adventure. Pavo is hired as a guide by the others after they hear the rumor about Dammerhall and an entrance at a nearby cave system? Suggestions for making that idea suck less?

I'm fine with that, but less 'Hired as a guide'. And more as 'A guy who has been there before'. Offering his help to a group of adventurers as one of them.

Jane thinks for a moment and looks around. "We could try a game of persition, where we each take turns trying to hit a target... Or we could try our hands at a game of dice."

First game would be darts, where we put up a target on a wall somewhere and use our ranged attack bonus to try and hit. While the other game is a bluff/dice rolling game. Where we each have 3 d6 and we roll them in a spoiler. We would have to honor each others cup until the revel is upon us. It would be the dice game off of the 2nd Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Varkas is inspired by LJ's proposal. "Aye, a bit of the old toss-at-the-target and then a real toss, of the dice, that is, would be a worthy test." Varkas is pretty immature - heh, "toss."

We each make a ranged attack, (BAB+dex)... Spell casters can use their casting modifier because they try to aim.

1-5 miss the board. (1on die aswell)
6-9 hit the outer rim. Roll a d10 for your points.
10 double points (1d10+10)
11-14 hit the the next ring. D10+5
15 double points (1d10+10)
16-19 inner ring 1d20
20+ Bulls eye. 1d20+10
