Leaving Cheliax from Kintargo we would sale to the city of Segada on the eastern coast of Arcadia. (Pathfinder book Distant shores).

If people want Pavo can have been there before and play guide and knowbot for Segada if no one else has the book?

I've got the book. I like the idea of you being a guide to the are though.

GM - are we doing favored class bonuses?

Sure, why not.

DM - Any problem calling the clan Splintershield?

No problem whatsoever!

For the GM: My heart is set on the Oread's Student of Stone archetype, but I'm also a huge fan of the Unchained Monk. Could we work out a way to play the Unchained Monk with this archetype? We'd obviously have to negotiate some compromises to deal with the older class features that aren't around to be replaced, but I'm willing to work something out if we can do that.

I'm open to working with it. What changes were you thinking? I'm going to have to read through both of the archetypes but I'm nothing if not flexible.

How does everybody feel about this as the lead in to the adventure. Pavo is hired as a guide by the others after they hear the rumor about Dammerhall and an entrance at a nearby cave system? Suggestions for making that idea suck less?

I am fine with any setting. Do we want to open a discussion thread to hash out details?

Done. A new discussion thread is up and I've posted a couple of topics for everybody to discuss.

Looks like most people are fine with starting in Arcadia. As for backstory it generally doesn't come up in the game unless somebody brings it up. What I'm more interested in is your characters shared history.

You all worked together before this so you should have one major event that brought you guys together and then got you to Arcadia. If it's really good and everybody contributes I may give you guys some kind of gift. If it's terrible you all get nothing! NOTHING!

WolverineBlue your character looks fine to me but I'm not an expert so if anybody has some suggestions feel free to share them.

Zin Z'arin an oread character is fine.

Thanks DM Amsheager! I have to try out that Google Slide program and see if I can get my head around it.

Ok all discussion is now in the new thread, see you all there!

All discussion for the game to go in this thread please.

Current topics

1) Setting - Shall we start on the continent of Arcadia?
a) What do we know about Arcadia?
b) How did your characters get to Arcadia?

2) How do your characters know each other?
a) Where did you first meet?
b) What is your shared background?

Feel free to chime in here with any other questions or suggestions you may have.

A later one

Thanks for the links! Reading through them now.

I would forgot the D20 for maps, since some people use their phones for PbP and have a hard time using it on their phones. I use Google Slides to bypass that issue. You can also make notes that your players can't see.

How do you use Google Slides? Got any examples that I can look at?

DBH wrote:

Found another pair of entrances that lead to the Darklands.

The Candlestone caverns in Andorian, and Hollow mountain in Varisia. Trouble is both are major dungeons, getting through them would be tough, let alone reaching the Darklands!

Ok lets put those on the backburner for now. How does everybody feel about setting it on the continent of Arcadia? Or more correctly underneath it?

Zin Z'arin wrote:
I would like to dot in to play a druid. If I choose one of those, I will definitely play as a good character (escape from bondage situation, or something like that).

You're in Zin Z'arin. As for alignment I'm fine with evil characters but no Chaotic Evil Characters. They don't play well with others.

Ken Marable wrote:
I'd love to join in if you'll have me!

We'd love to have you Ken Marable! And with that we have our eight players.

If you are reading this and would like to play but aren't 1 of the 8 players -

Olaf the Holy,
KenderKin,
WolverineBlue,
DBH,
ravenoak,
GM Amsheagar
Zin Z'arin
Ken Marable

then I'm sorry but you won't be able to join until one of those players have dropped out. Feel free to read along though!

Ok so we are now in the Recruitment stage of things now!

If you are interested in playing then please post your character concept, no longer than a paragraph please, after this post.

Once I've got up to 8 characters that we're all happy with, 6 spots have already been taken by the posters listed below, I'll open up the Gameplay thread and we can start adventuring!

The 6 people that have already booked spots in the game are -

Olaf the Holy,
KenderKin,
WolverineBlue,
DBH,
ravenoak,
GM Amsheagar

That means I have 2 spots available, unless one of the above posters doesn't want their spot. It is first come first serve so the first 2 people to post their character concept after this post will get those 2 spots.

Characters will be built with point buy for stats and you'd have 20 points to spend. Full hitpoints to start with and 200gp to spend for stuff. You also have two traits. Any Race or Class is fine as long as they are in an official Paizo book or third party provider.

Any other questions ask the here.

DBH wrote:

So, a known entrance to the Darklands, in an area controlled by the Pathfinders does sound like a good starting point. Hired by the Pathfinders to make an expedition into the dangerous world below?

Or perhaps just adventurers doing what they do best and charging in blindly in search of loot. ;)

Either of those are good jumping off points. I think we can decide that when we get the group sorted out.

KenderKin wrote:

Any ideas on races and classes?

I have been trying to find a place for my city-raised, almost human second generation half orc paladin Redeemer archetype of Abadar....

I'll allow any Race or Class as long as it's covered in an Official Paizo book or one of the official third party providers.

ravenoak wrote:
I would be interested. Any idea of Races or Classes? I think of rolling up a Empyreal bloodline Dwarven sorcerer

See above. That would be fine.

WolverineBlue wrote:
Cool - if it's OK I roll up a vanilla dwarf fighter (core rules?), I will.

That would be A-ok.

GM Amsheagar wrote:

I've been GMing on here for the past few years and would love to join in on this game and also give advice for the PbP formatting stuff.

I would be interested in making an Undead Lord Cleric, a Summoner or an Alchemist... got to narrow it down though.

Would be happy to have the advice to be honest! Any of those concepts would be cool.

Right looks like we've got enough interest for this game so I'll get started creating a thread for it. I've also done some research and the longest a thread for this particular AP lasted in this forum is about a 1000+ posts and then it kind of petered off and was only through part of the first book I think. I'll try and do better.

If you're going to detail Kladdenvalt or Voldenhammer, I'd love to see it.

Me to! Honestly I'm probably going to steal it wholesale from another module, if I can find a gnome city, and just rename some stuff and change around a few Major NPCs. If I find something that suits I'll post it up here and pretend I actually did some work.;)

KenderKin wrote:
Maybe so. Are you proposing play by post? Here on paizo?

Yeah it would be Play By Post here on the Paizo forums.

Olaf the Holy wrote:
What do you think the creation rules would be like, point buy or something like that?

It would definitely be point buy and you'd have 20 points to spend. Full hitpoints to start with and 200gp to spend for stuff.

If you could have patience with a new player (both Pathfinder and PbP (I assume)), I would love to join. I have RPG experience from many moons ago, but I am anxious to join a game and have some fun (and learn about the system and PbP). Thanks!

I'm not exactly the most experienced DM with the Pathfinder system but I've got plenty of patience and a can do attitude so you would be more than welcome to join. Your welcome!

DBH wrote:

Definitely interested. I can post daily and am very familiar with Pathfinder.

One of my all time favorites was "The night below." A 2E boxed campaign.

DBH

Game posts would be once every two days, probably twice a week plus once in the weekend if I'm not busy. I never played the Night Below but it looks awesome!

The setting will be Golarion. I'm just looking for a place to set the starting point. Suggestions?

Olaf the Holy wrote:
Sure. So we'd be 'good' races?

Characters don't have to be of a 'good' race or even a good person. The only alignment I wouldn't allow is Chaotic Evil. Beyond that I would be open to anything as long as it was in an official rule book.

No homebrew races though, I've been burnt by that before.

I just realized that I can host an online play through of the Throne of Night campaign and I'm interested in seeing how many people would be interested in playing?

Here are the two books in question -

Throne of Night—Book #1: Dark Frontier

http://paizo.com/products/btpy92m8?Throne-of-Night-Book-1-Dark-Frontier

Throne of Night—Book #2: The Earth's Wound

http://paizo.com/products/btpy95zr?Throne-of-Night-Book-2-The-Earths-Wound- PDF

I haven't decided on a setting to place it in yet but I would be running the Explorer version of the game, although I would allow more than dwarf characters, rather than running the Conqueror version. Game would start at 1st level and I would advance characters at certain story points rather than wait for XP to build up.

If I can find 4 interested players I will start this game.

Not sure if anything else would be of much use for this particular AP, but check out Wayfinder 15 for the poison known as glutton's grease. It's particularly useful against dwarves. If you're playing drow, that could come in handy. Or, it could be used against the duergar. There's a few magic items and class archetypes that could come in handy as well. Guess it would depend on how the kingdom rules work for these scenarios. Still, if you're doing your own game, and using kingdom building rules, the free magazine "by fans, for fans" will definitely come in handy.

Free is always in my price range!

I'll have a looksee at it if I get a chance. I've got a bunch of stuff and I literally don't have the time to read through everything that I should be reading. I've been reading through the suggested adventures you could use to run the rest of this AP and I'm slowly putting together something but I've got to admit my game is going to be a complete re-imagining of the adventure path.

For one I've already tripled the size of the first map of Upper Azathyr (or Nar Voth as it's known on Golarion) and I'll be adding the gnome kingdom and a few other places. I'm also adding a ruined city of mongrelmen because I really like the old Lost City module from back in the day and I've decided to add it to my game.

In the end I have just made the Mbe'ke like a regular dwarf clan except a lot more tanned.

Just realized I could host a playthrough on here! Link to interest check - http://paizo.com/campaigns/ThroneOfNight2nyr7/recruiting#1

And he replied to the question, saying:
"If it's not in "Heart of the Jungle," I'm pretty sure we haven't said much about this subject at all. Which means [you have] a lot of room to come up with [your] own stuff for the dwarves and map and all that."

Thanks kevin_video. I'd rather have somebody else come up with that stuff for me to save me a bunch of time but looks like I'm on my own. I'll post up what I come up with when it's done.

So I'm running this game in the Terwa Uplands on the Garundi continent. I'm trying to find information on the Mbe'ke dwarves and maybe a map or description of the Terwa Uplands but there doesn't seem to be a lot.

Does anybody have any suggestions? Currently I'm running the Mbe'ke dwarves like standard dwarves except they have been influenced by Mwangi cultures.

Anybody got any information on these guys? They aren't even covered in the Dwarves of Golarion book!

Pretty much what it says in the subject line. I'm looking for a map of the Terwa Uplands or at least a more fleshed out description of them than what I can find in the Pathfinder wiki and the few books that mention them.

What kind of culture do the Mbe'ke dwarves actually have? I'm assuming they are an offshoot of the main dwarven culture but have taken on some of the cultural traits of the Mwangi people, but it's not entirely clear from anything I've read. Do they have the same naming conventions as traditional dwarves? Like Rory Firebeard and so on?

Thanks for all the links and suggestions! Look forward to running this.

kevin_video wrote:

Yeah, I did that back on page 15 for everyone so they could essentially do the same thing. Linked for your convenience.

Thanks! I really appreciate it.

Anybody got any Adventure Paths or Modules that are similar to this one but actually finished?

Does anybody have a synopsis for all 6 adventures for this adventure path?

I have the first two adventures and a synopsis for the third but cant find the rest of them outlined. I figure I'm going to finish these adventures myself but would like to see what he had outlined for them.
