Initial set up for discussion thread


Character Finalization notes:

HP: 1st level HP is Con Score plus Max hit die . Roll for all other levels. You can reroll all ones . If you get one a second time you are stuck with it. Items such as Belt of Constitution are retroactive for all levels except level one. This means that if you a belt of +2 con, you get a bonus 4 hit points. Attribute points added to CON are also retroactive for all levels except one.

Profession: All characters need to have at least one rank in a profession. A profession can be anything, including hitman, thief, baker etc.

Character Wealth:

-Unadjusted character wealth is 10,500 gold. There are a few options and restrictions:

- Magic item availability: All minor wondrous items and +1 enchanted items are available. Anything beyond that needs to be approved by me.

- Special materials: Characters can start with a max of two special material items. Silver is an exception. In game you will be able to search for more. Items such as an adamantine saw do not count.

- Random Magic item : To simulate having found a magic item on your travels, you can sacrifice 3000 of your starting gold to make a roll on a custom minor wondrous items table. The table will consist of all magic items priced from 2000 gold to 5000 gold. The median price of these items will be 3500. If you want to do this, roll a percentage die and let me know the result.

House Affiliation Bonus:

House Charthagnion : Spontaneous Casters gain 2 bonus spells known. Preparation casters gain 3 bonus spells known.

House Henderthane : Characters can reduce the untrained penalty for 1 weapon to -2. Or, characters can reduce the penalty for strong hand attacks by 1 when using two weapon fighting.

House Jeggare : Characters gain an additional 1500 starting wealth. They also gain twice as much gold from profession rolls.

House Leroung : Characters gain a +2 bonus for any one knowledge skill.

House Narikopolus : Characters add 10 ft to range increments for one set of ranged weapons (bows, cross bows, muskets, pistols, etc)

House Sarini : Characters gain a +2 bonus for knowledge (local), diplomacy or bluff.

Unaffiliated : To be determined

Quest Mechanics:

Characters will begin play with a substantial portion of their memory missing. Though they will act more on instinct then memory,Characters retain all abilities (including fighting, casting, class skills, special abilities, etc). Knowledge checks that deal with correctly processing immediate information (such as dungeon engineering to determine how much leverage is needed to break open a cell door [yes, a Pirates of the Caribean reference]) will be allowed as normal. Knowledge checks dealing with knowing pieces of information will be dealt with differently. In populated areas (such as on the street) will be treated as gather information checks. In un-populated areas (such as knowledge nature to determine what a creature is) will not lead to any apparent abilities. They may lead to instinctual actions, such as drawing a silver dagger instead of your normal weapon.

I spent all night shopping on another character. By the time I'm done I'll certainly be sick of looking at books. Will change Arianna's profile to her new sheet once shopping is done.

Not sure how you are about houseruling things, but I wanted to ask if a slight adjustment to Arianna's claw ability could be made. 3+Charisma mod/day is kind of low, especially for something starting at level 5 where combat is already drawn out a little bit due to HP amounts. Would it be possible to maybe shift it to an an infinite use or +1 round/level deal?

Also, rerolling the 1s I got on my in-recruitment HP rolls. 2d6 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11

Oh that's much nicer.

I'd like to roll for a random magic Item. I had 4500 gold left after buying items, so with my house bonus I'd be at 6k, so that would take me down to 3k. 1d100 ⇒ 67

You can substitute the current house affiliation bonus to have claws as 3 + cha mod + 1 round/level

I'd be okay with that. It would be worth more than two extra second-level spells, especially with such a caster-heavy party.

One thing i forgot, plan on specific location for where you live. Official house affiliates can live in the house mansions themselves. Others can live in residential areas, barracks, or just long term stays at Inns. I can give you a list of inns and their quality should you choose that. House affiliations will also give you access to appropriate skill stations, such as a smithy at henderthane or a alchemy lab at any of the castrr based houses.

I'll choose a 2+ for intimidate. As for my quarters Gregorovich has made certain that I have a small flat available to me at all times.

As for my profession it is information broker. Gregorovich and the hellknights are not my only clients but they do receive first shot at any information if they pay for it.

I'll probably just stay at the house Jeggare if that's alright. If not, in a medium sized house near it, I'm a public face to many individuals, so it's not like my existence is unknown.

Likewise,if a creature’s saving throw succeeds against a targeted spell, you sense that the spell has failed. You do not sense when creatures succeed on saves against effect and area spells

Voluntarily Giving up a Saving Throw: A creature can voluntarily forego a saving throw and willingly accept a spell’s result. Even a character with a special resistance to magic can suppress this quality.

So i can cast a Suggestion: (i suggest you accept this next spell i am casting). And i will know if that suggestion has failed (ie he makes the save). Then i cast the next spell and he doesn't resist as per the suggestion)

Sorry, but I think I'll have to drop out of the game. It's looking good so far, but I've started a new medication and it's putting me into a strange state, and I've bitten off more than I can chew when it comes to PBP right now. Very sad to duck out, but I've been in a fugue all weekend and I feel like I'll bog the game down if I stick to it.

Sydney: You would not have known if he passed a save on the area of effect spell. Using Suggestion before it is a handy work around though.

The amnesia start off was a bit of a curve ball. Totally unexpected, but Adrien is having to compensate on the fly. As of right now, despite what's just unfolded, you're all a means to finding answers until something concrete comes about. But a little more trusted now.

Sorry for the harshness Molos, but Adrien never agreed with your approach in the first place. Initially he'd assumed somebody was a step ahead of them, but finding out your information caused this sent Adrien over the top. Also, DM, if my roll succeeds, I would like to petition for 5 badass ranks (for scaring the mind-rapist).

My mistake on that. Since this deals with your backstory and personality you can decide what the books are. They can be journals, notes, contracts with lawyers, etc.
