Yzera Hykeph
|
Yzera loops the pre-looped and knotted rope over one of the crenelations and drops it back down. She then turns to face the guards.
A poor choice for guard duty.
Yzera will fall into a defensive posture by lying prone to make it more difficult to shoot her while waiting for Kaath and the other melee types to climb up and join her.
Total Defense+prone: AC25 vs ranged
| Carnadine |
Carnadine is the first to grab the rope and climbs up.
Climb take 1+4=5 vs DC 5 of knotted rope. Should we go into round by round, so we can try to advance a round or two per day?
| DM HolyWater |
Everyone climbs up, Kelvar on Grumblejacks back. By the time everyone is up the roof is empty. The guards have abandoned the roof to the prisoners without a fight. There are two trapdoors in the north-west and north-east corners of the roof and a two-story drop to the outside and the road down to freedom.
Azrin
|
"There is the road. Let us be gone before the sun comes any closer to the horizon." Azrin says in a voice like a smooth whisper.
Yzera Hykeph
|
Yzera shakes her head:
No, the sergeant is still here and they have bows. We have seen what their arrows can do. With the twisting of that path, I have no doubt that whatever guards are left will be peppering us from arrow slits as we run. Running while carrying Kelvar.
She points at the trap doors.
The went down the far one. Lets see if we can open the close one and see where the guards went. Someone should keep an eye on the door to the courtyard. I assume there will be no doors toward the outside as that would make for a fairly poor defense.
Yzera now gets an evil smile:
And, if we find guards below one of the doors, we have that nice barrel of oil that Kaath has been toting about with him.
| Kelvar Mylan |
Kelvar seems to stir slightly as Grumblejack carries him, but does not appear to be regaining consciousness.
Just getting a post in so that everyone knows I'm still here.
| Carnadine |
"Maybe pour some of the oil on one of the trapdoors while Grumblejack bashes the other. Dividing their attention would help us. I can ignite the oil." Carnadine suggests while a flame appears on his thumb after flicking it from his fist. (Spark - Somatic only)
| Kelvar Mylan |
Caprin can using Craft (alchemy) or detect magic (if he has it). I hope he's still paying attention, because right about now he'd be crucial.
| Kaath the Bastard |
Kaath gleefully pulls out a siangham and holds it to the barrel in anticipation. "Give me the word, and we'll warm things up"
Azrin
|
As the others begin discussing how to bash or burn the guards inside, Azrin takes a seat and begins hissing arcane words in his native tongue. The air before him begins to waver and ripple.
I'll go ahead and start summoning my eidolon while this happens.
Yzera Hykeph
|
Yzera shakes her head:
We don't have time to wait any longer. I doubt the wizard would have something harmful on him.
With that, she grabs the potion and pours it down his throat.
| Kelvar Mylan |
Kelvar's eyes flicker open. Groaning, he massages where the arrow wound was, and says, "Well, it appears Asmodeus does not desire my soul yet. I still feel sore, however, and should yet stay behind others."
Removing the holy symbol of Asmodeus, he hands it to Kaath and says, "I think you will get more use out of this for now than I will."
How are our Dhampir doing on health? I can drop my prepared Divine Favor for Infkict Light Wounds.
| Carnadine |
The Dhampirs are doing well at the moment. Thanks
Whoever has the barrel of oil, please pour it on one of the trapdoors for want of something to do. Burn baby burn.
| Kaath the Bastard |
Kaath pops open the barrel and dumps out the oil with a giant smirk on his face.
He struggles to maintain a whisper--For Asmodeus
edit: all over his hot sexy body.
ok but seriously, down the trap door
| Carnadine |
Carnadine tells Kraath to stop pouring when oil begins leaking through the wooden seams of the trapdoor. After Kraath and oil barrel clear the area, the lord of darkness ignites it with a Spark.
| Kelvar Mylan |
"Due to my injured state, I'll remain on the roof and cover the courtyard with my bow."
Kelvar set himself up by the crenelations, bow at the ready, and scanned the courtyard, looking for guardsmen fleeing the gatehouse.
| Rosemary Thorn |
Rose grins at the burning door. She stomps on it in its weakened burning state, to send pieces falling onto any enemies below and clear the way at the same time.
STR Check to Kick in door.: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
STR Check to Kick in door.: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Azrin
|
Azrin maintains his ritual and soon a dark, swirling shadow begins to writhe in front of him.
I think it takes 10 minutes, so depending on how long you all take burning/investigating.
| Kelvar Mylan |
It only takes 1 minute to perform the Eidolon summoning ritual.
As the others light a fire on one trapdoor and descend the other, Kelvar scans the courtyard below, looking for any enemies who may attempt to flee back into the keep.
| Kaath the Bastard |
Relieved of carrying the oil barrel, Kaath gives his arms a good stretch. He waits to be given the all clear from Yzera before jumping down.
| Carnadine |
Carnadine hoped that they would have started knocking on the second trap door while the first one burned, in order to have a distraction.
Azrin

It only takes 1 minute to perform the Eidolon summoning ritual.
You're right. This is my first summoner.
I should be done soon then.| DM HolyWater |
New map update
The two archers from the roof had been fleeing from the burning oil and the crashed in trapdoor. The smoke starts to creep across the room but due to the stone walls and floors spreading the fire is more difficult. "They're advancing sir!" They call down and pull out arrows to fire at Yzera. Did anyone else follow her?
Kelvar sees no one fleeing the building or coming towards it. A pair of barks can be heard below. 2 more dogs are likely inside.
Yzera Hykeph
|
Seeing the guards, Yzera smiles.
You would have done better to keep running, or hiding.
With that she charges, swinging her saber with 2 hands:
Charge (AC15 for 1 round)
Attack-sawtooth saber: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 2 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Unfortunately, the smoke is too thick and her swing is thrown off.
I attempted to move Yzera on the map, but, while it is showing the distance moved very nicely, it does not seem to be allowing me to actually save the moved icon.
| Carnadine |
Carnadine climbs down behind Yzera and readies to rush the guards. "Run, guards; we outnumber you. The warden is dead. Blackerly will get what he deserves shortly, so there will be no consequences for you. You will die if you do not retreat now."
move action to climb down without anything in hands
move action to ready shield
5 ft move
| Kaath the Bastard |
Kaath climbs down behind Carnadine, a fearsome grimace on his face. He twirls his sianghams and catches them in a reverse grip, ready to charge at any guard brave enough to challenge him
| Carnadine |
Next Round
Carnadine unsheathes his longsword while he charges the soon to be dead guards. He sweeps the blade through the guard's defenses.
charge
free action to unsheath longsword
longsword -power attack +charge: 1d20 + 5 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 5 - 1 + 2 = 21
longsword +power attack: 1d8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 2 = 7
AC 20-2=18
| Kelvar Mylan |
Kelvar watches as the others drop down the ladder, then listens as the sounds of battle begin to ring out.

Round 2
Growling at the guard that hit her, Yzera steps forward and attempts to end the guards pitiful existence before he has a chance to impede her ascension into the Mantis' Lord's favor.
5' move
AC17
Attack-sabre: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Despite the guards not being able to use their shields, her wild swing, likely effected by the arrow now sticking from her side, is well wide of its mark.

Round 1 - slight retcon
Yzera would have drawn her second sabre with her move action in the prior round.
Round 2
Smiling as the guard's swing misses its mark again, Yzera's eyes begin to glow with a bloody pallor.
Time to taste defeat.
She then swipes both blades down in a crossing motion hoping to remove the guard's head from the rest of his body.
Attack-Saber-primary: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 6 - 2 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Attack-Saber-offhand: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 6 - 2 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
The guard (I assume) blocks the first blade, but the second leaves a vicious tear across his neck and shoulder.
| Kaath the Bastard |
Seems I'm also having difficulties moving my piece in the dungeon. Kaath dropped down and pulled out his Kamas during Round 1.
Round 2
A ghastly streak speeds by as Kaath enters a rage and immediately positions himself behind Yzera's target. He attempts a quick slash on the guard with a Kama.
Raging Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 2 = 14
Damage: 1d6 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 2 = 12
| Carnadine |
Round 2
Carnadine winces as the guard's blade bites into him. He takes another cut with his blade and steps back.
longsword -power attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
longsword +power attack: 1d8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 = 9
