Polonius Fynch
Lilith, I know it's horrible. This whole world is now. But you said yourself that they have no memory, no instincts beyond feeding and making more like themselves. They aren't just going to go away... he looks up at her with a furrowed brow. ...they are just going to stay there and keep hammering and hammering and hammering until either that door gives way.... or our sanity does. Besides, all that banging is bound to bring more of them and then we'll just be trapped in here like those damned rats.
Polonius looks tired. To his very bones.
Some people live for new experiences. Gnomes need new experiences to live. They call Elves the immortal race but that isn't strictly true. Of all the races of Golarion only gnomes can truly be called immortal - so long as there are new sights to see and new things to do.
But this grim and grey time is killing Polo. He is Bleaching and fading away.
Every. Single. Day.
And by Desna's pale face he was tired.
I don't see that we have a choice Lilith.
Azmerai
Azmerai looks at Lilith and shakes he head. "I want a rest. A bath. A good nights sleep. We all do. But... we need food. Like now. Only good place is inn. Also fight groaners better if strong. Not weak by lack of food."
Lenneth Barlow
"There's a window upstairs....I don't know how easy it would be, but maybe we could try and lure some of the groaners to that side of the building and shoot them from the window..." Lenneth chimes in, looking nearly as shaken as Lilith at the thought of going back outside again so soon. "Those bombs might not be a good idea because the building could get damaged or catch fire, but arrows and bolts could work. Even rocks from a sling."
Feeling Indigo's eyes resting on her even though she can't see where he's perched at the moment, she takes a deep breath to steady herself and continues speaking.
"I...don't want to go back outside. But we'll have to at some point, won't we? Even if the window idea works. We need food. We needed food before and we surely need it now with there being more of us here. Water might be easier. There's a window - maybe we can rig something to catch water when it rains. We'd still need more than just what we could catch, but every little bit would help."
Polonius Fynch
[b]My bombs should be fine Lenneth. It's a fire burst. The chemical and magical ingredients combine to create a violent oxidation reaction that produces a huge amount of hot gas. The container fragments under the pressure releasing the super-heated air and gas within. Beyond hair and parchment perhaps combustion is unlikely, back at the bridge I added lantern oil to the mixture to create a continued burn.
All this is pure fluff. GM and I had a brief discussion about bombs not being flammable without an alchemical Discovery or particular circumstances. Fiendish - correct me if I'm wrong?
Polonius suddenly realises he has been droning on about alchemy again, a habit his wife often chided him about.
What I mean is, I can help.
Polonius moves to the upper floor window and leans out, trying to gauge how many zombies are in the street and if any more are going to hear the commotion. He then returns and says;
If we go out through the barn and attack from behind we can take them in a few seconds, I'm sure of it. Azmerai, Turrey - take these. he hands the pair each a flask of Cure Light Wounds extract. If you get injured, drink that immediately - besides disease, it should take care of your wounds. Are we going to do this?
If so, I assume the party gathers in the barn apart from anyone who can make ranged attacks through gaps in the boarded windows or from the window above. Hope you guys don't think I'm rail-roading this. If anyone disagrees, shout out.
Azmerai
After the first few words Azmerais eyes glaze over, he doesn´t understand a damn thing. After the words I can help he snaps back to focus. He takes the potion with a grateful nod, stashes it in his beltbag and grabs his halberd carefully to be ready to charge as soon as the door is opened and Polonius has softened them up with his bomb.
GM Fiendish
Azmerai finds the rotted bag in the stalls. With regards to the safe Turrey tried to pick the lock of, disable device to open a lock is a full round action, so taking 20 would require 2 minutes and would set off any traps present
After Turrey has had a moment to think, he judges that he isn't going to get anywhere with this lock without a set of thieves' tools.
Lilith and Polonius, please see the discussion thread for crafting rules. With regards to the inks, 2 hours work and a craft(alchemy) DC 12 check will gather/scrape/crush/hydrate/mix/distill/embellish the requisite special inks for Lilith to use.
After Lenneth spoke about food, Xand stretches and gets to his feet. Leaning his axe against the wall, he begins the task of recovering all the useful gear from his dead ex-companions. He makes a small pile, then states simply Take what you need
backpack
2 sacks
spell component pouch
flask of oil
4 arrows
2 candles
a sunrod
cheap holy text (Gorum)
wooden holy symbol (Gorum)
Polonius, fluff away! It's a good example of running with a theme/concept, it doesn't do anything mechanically, so embellish away!

I like the plan to use the barn doors much better Polonius. I can support that.
If the dwarf is only wounded we should give him one or more of the extracts now. Then he can fight with us. But if he is fatigued or worse then I say we let him rest here for now.
Turrey Butterhill
Turrey takes a full two minutes trying patiently to open the lock, but can see he won't get anywhere without better tools.
Walking over to Kayla, he smiles and asks, "Hey little one, do you know if there was a locksmith or lock shop somehwere in Sandpoint?" Or a thieves guild...though I doubt you're the right one to point me there...
Turrey is cool with Polo's proposal. If the CLW extract would let Xand join us, Turrey will let Xand take the one Polo offered him. Otherwise he'll happily carry it.
.
Fiendish, are there secret signs/markers that Turrey might notice, that would point toward a thieves den or guild? If so, he'll keep his eyes out for possible signs whenever he's out around town.
GM Fiendish
Whilst Turrey is unable to gain entry to the safe, he is at least sure there are no traps on it, as he would surely have set them off if there were.
Kaiya looks up from her drawing when Turrey asks her his question
Mr Briskalberd has a shop, he's dad's friend and he likes locks, he put one on the front door of our shop and one on the upstairs gate too. He is very serious. His shop is on the other side of Sandpoint, I can take you if you like?
She has a thought and adds another scrawl to her drawing
Come and have a look, it's only a ten minute walk!
Lenneth Barlow
Lenneth walks over to where Kaiya sits and peers over her shoulder at the charcoal map. "Clear across town...," she says as she shakes her head. "I know we need supplies but we need to take this slow and not get in over our heads, either. There were what, those three groaners on the street plus how many more that came out of the barn? And those are just the ones in the immediate area."
Having said that, she stands back up and sighs as she looks at Polonius. "But we need to clear out what we can. Where do you want me?"
Polonius Fynch
We stand the best chance of doing this quickly and safely if we are all together. I'll hit them with a bomb first and try to catch as many in the blast as possible. After that Azmerai, Xand - if he is up for it - and Turrey can charge in while the rest of us cover them with ranged attacks.
But we need to keep a close eye out as well. If any more of those things come at us from the alley-ways than we think we can handle, we run. No questions and no heroics, we get out of there. Everyone agreed?
Assuming everyone is in agreement;
Polonius nods to Azmerai who hauls the doors to the barn.
I will await Fiendish's description of how many there are but I will throw a bomb into the centre of them to try and catch as many as possible in the surrounding squares with the splash damage.
Bomb: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Fire Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 6) + 3 = 15
Adjacent zombies take 5 fire damage or half with a DC 14 reflex save
Azmerai
Fire, the white hot iron, daddy is holding it to mom, she is scream... RRAAR
After the door is open the raging Azmerai charges the next groaner
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 281d10 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 281d10 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Brutally hitting it and splitting it in two.
GM Fiendish
You haul back the door and dart out in to the street in front of the stables. About 30 feet away, in front of the shop door, are 9 gnashers, almost tumbling over each other to thump, grasp and shove the door. They prove an absolutely perfect target for Polonius' bomb, which lands directly in their midst, immolating one corpse completely and singing the others too.
ShomariBot uses the cover of the stable door to step out and loose two arrows at the small group of zombies.
takes a 5 ft step, shortbow (incorporating rapid shot, deadly aim and favored enemy)
rapid shot 1: 1d20 + 5 - 2 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 5 - 2 - 1 + 2 = 19
piercing: 1d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 2 = 5
rapid shot 2: 1d20 + 5 - 2 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 5 - 2 - 1 + 2 = 13
piercing: 1d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 = 6
Both arrows fly swift and true with pinpoint accuracy, unfortunately a gust of ill wind spoils their flight, impaling the zombies with hardly any effect. You hear Shomari cursing his luck under his breath.
Azmerai's charge closes the distance remarkably quickly, and his incandescent rage sends his halberd arcing through another groaner, separating the body in to two inanimate but still-twitching parts.
Have to old school the visual as I'm on someone else's laptop and it doesn't have Office on it (yeah I know...).
7 zombies left, party have initiative so all can act before the groaners get a chance to strike back, assuming Lenneth, Lilith and Turrey are a part of the plan ;)

Lilith moves only as close as she needs to and targets a zombie that has no cover and is not in melee with Disrupt Undead. But she is too shaken seeing their number to aim properly.
Range Touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 61d6 ⇒ 2
Are any of these wearing weapons? do they react to her spell?
Polonius Fynch
Polonius continues hurling bombs into the midst of the zombies.

Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 6) + 3 = 10
All adjacent zombies take 5 damage with a DC 14 reflex save for half
GM Fiendish
Despite her being affected by the sight of so many, in the back of her studious mind, Lilith's subconscious notes that none of these groaners have blades, gauntlets or chains on them. She also swears they took a step towards her when she cast her spell
Ignorant of their fellow's demise, despite how intimidating it would have appeared to an opponent who could feel fear, two groaners step up and swing their decayed fists at Azmerai.
slam 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
blunt: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
slam 2: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 2 = 8 flanking
blunt: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
With the luck of fools and lost causes smiling on him, Azmerai somehow manages to avoid harm, as the sheer number of gnashers around him cause their attacks to miss as they jostle each other to be closer. The zombies now surround the raging half-orc, and those that can't get at him begin to shamble towards the stables.
Players up, Polo keep your rolls but please advise where you are aiming/excluding! Will assume Lenneth and Turrey are in the stables so a move action will bring them in to the mix should they want to join their companions
Shomari Kali
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 deadly aim, FE
Attack: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4 deadly aim, FE, DR
Delaying til Polonius has acted.
Shomari fires a quick shot at the nearest of the approaching zombies (D4) and then draws his sibat (still holding the bow in his off hand) and steps forward to meet them (C2) and protect the soft ones.

Lilith falls back 20 feet and tries to figure out what it is about her spells that is attracting the undead and if there is some range to it. (i.e. do all the undead react the same, or do the closer ones react more strongly? Maybe the farthest ones do not react? She then fires her Disrupt Undead spell at the closed groaner trying to note the reaction to all undead.

Oops, looks like I missed round 1 over the weekend? If some retcon is possible...
Round 1
Following the others out, Turrey's childhood instinct kicks in and he ducks into the shadows of the barn (F3), staying out of sight and sound, a knife in each hand.
Round 2 (delaying until after Polo as well)
Seeing the half-orc charge the mass of groaners, Turrey ulps! and then mutters to himself, "If he has the courage to face them, by Desna, he's not going to do it alone!" and with that the halfling ducks forward, past one groaner, to sandwich another between Azmerai and himself.
Trying to take advantage of the groaner having to look two ways as once, he lashes out and manages to slice a tendon, causing a brief stumble...but then the groaner is turning his way. Smelling the scent of decay he crouches back on his feet, thinking, OK Father Sevrille, I was brave this time. What now?!?

Lagging behind out of fearfulness, Lenneth finally moves out of the stables to join the rest of her companions. She curses under her breath at seeing Azmerai completely surrounded by groaners, with still yet two more being engaged by Shomari as they attempt to approach the rest of the group. Hoping to buy some time, Lenneth weaves another incantation.
Suddenly, the image of a tall, grim-looking man appears down the street past Azmerai and the crowd of zombies. Oddly enough, he makes no noise but paces back and forth, waving his arms and appearing to jeer at the zombies.
Cast Silent Image somewhere past the last two zombies in C&D 9 and give them what appears to be another target to bite at. Also, my status tracker spoiler is for myself/GM Fiendish to keep track of what spells I've got left and other effects; borrowed it from another game I'm playing in!

Azmerai swings at the nearest groaner, this groaner has to die. Knowing that he is almost dead by Polonius he goes all in towards accuraccy. No PA and Rage power.
attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 131d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 Any groaners comming south?
GM Fiendish
Turrey and all, no problem with you declaring actions for previous rounds, we'll splice them in around the actions that have already occurred, exactly like has been done by you guys already :)
Polonius lobs another bomb, with unerring accuracy it bursts amid the group surrounding Azmerai, scorching them whilst leaving him unharmed. One zombie is nearly burned to a crisp but is still moving, and the others look singed, charred flesh sloughs off them as they surge and claw at Azmerai.
Shomari's arrow embeds itself in the chest of an approaching groaner, though it's still bearing down on the group by the stables as he steps in its way, sibat leading.
Lilith's spell arcs past Shomari and smacks in to the zombie he hit with the arrow, he gets a first row seat watching the white glow accompanying the spell suffuse the zombie and burning it further. Whilst difficult to judge empirically (oh how Lilith misses her quiet and serene tower and library!), Lilith is fairly certain that the closest groaners reacted more strongly to her casting the spell. She's not even sure the ones surrounding Azmerai paid any notice, but that could just be because they are intent on the half-orc.
Turrey bravely sidesteps around the two zombies approaching the stables, but only just manages to strike his intended target by Azmerai, his knife barely cutting it at all. bad luck with those dice rolls :(
Lenneth's illusion materialises in to existence and attempts to distract the zombies. Perhaps because they already have the scent of half-orc right in front of them, they are currently oblivious to it.
Lenneth, please make an intimidate, bluff or straight INT check (or any other skill you think feasible) to make your illusion a more tempting target. The groaners ARE attracted by movement, but they've got an isolated and vulnerable Azmerai right in front of them and are completely focused on such close prey. If there were more surrounding him that couldn't immediately get to him then they would have been attracted straightaway, so it was a clever idea! Also, I like the status bar :)
Surrounded on all sides, Azmerai swings his halberd in the confined space, trying to cut himself out of the situation. The groaner he targets collapses under the weight of the halberd as it thunks in to it's chest, ribcage splitting open like a ripe peach and showering Azemerai in gore. chose to target the one Turrey is flanking as helps cut an escape route for Azmerai should he choose to use it Azmerai spares a quick glance south and is surprised to see a newcomer to the fight, a tall and grim looking man that is just moving around on the spot and gesturing in Azmerai's direction. The half-orc's rage-fogged-brain struggles, could this man be directing the zombies?
Azmerai, are you still in rage? If not don't forget the fatigue, not that it mattered to your rolls this round!
The groaners surge forward around Azmerai, trying to bear him to the ground where they can get at him with their teeth

Azmerai's DR is already included in the damage rolls. Total damage is 14 unless Azmerai is fatigued from ending rage, in which case his DEX is currently 2 lower, so AC would be 13 and singed2 would hit him, changing total damage to 19...

"Azmerai, come back! I'll try to help clear the way!"
Turrey steps behind the zombie attacking Shomari, slicing simultaneously with both daggers. Fueled by panic or touched by Desna, he manages to slice clear through the groaner’s spinal cord, and it folds over and collapses in the dirt.
Glancing nervously over his shoulder, he hollers ”Hurry!!” and then, turning back toward Lenneth, he yelps, ”Any chance you could do that cool muddy trick again, after Azmerai gets back?”

The dazzling arcane missles shoot forward from Lilith's hands, unerringly zeroing in on their targets, one blasts a hole straight through the crispy zombie's head, dropping it instantly. The other burns deep in to the one standing next to Turrey.
Turrey's sidestep takes him in to range of the zombie with the arrow sticking out of its chest, his knifework slices the zombie to pieces, leaving writhing chunks of flesh littering the ground around him, severing the spine as a finishing touch the undead monster just drops in place, unmoving.
Azmerai: I misunderstood your post and was unsure if when you said 'no PA and rage power' you meant 'no PA or rage power'. Nevermind, all is good! Just one thing though, DR was already factored in to the zombie slam damage, so your hp total would be 13/27 unless I missed something?
Azmerai is unerringly accurate with his halberd, the massive metal head of the polearm smashes the zombie in to the ground like a piledriver. He steps over the remains, moving towards the stables.
Shomari too finds fortune with his speartip slashing through the throat of the zombie menacing him, just deep enough to injure it beyond the animating magic's ability to continue, and the corpse drops at his feet as he steps backwards.
The two zombies still near Azmerai are intent on his blood it seems, they move up with him and continue raining blows on the battered warrior.

She then says to the group I am going back in. and shifts into the corner of the stable, looking for who or what closed the doors. She still has her standard action left. She will attack whatever is at the door. Since it moved to and then closed the door this round it should still be right there.

Azmerai, I used 'senseless' just as a descriptor and it has no in-game effect! You act exactly as you should on 0 hp, and of course you can track your hp however you like, now I understand!
Shomari moves to quickly down one of the zombies beating on Azmerai, but his speartip gets tangled in the rotted clothes it is wearing, negating the force of the blow.
Lilith's elven vision lets her see a shadowy humanoid shape moving quickly in the shadows of the stable door just before it slammed shut. The stable walls are riddled with small holes and she is able to glimpse the interior and *bamf* is now inside.
A figure in a black and very tattered hooded cloak is standing by the door, at your sudden appearance it turns to you and you can see it is wearing a grubby white mask.
Curious it says of you, cocking its head to look at you better, the voice sounding an androgynous mix of growl and shovel scraping tombstone. You cannot tell whether it is undead or not.
Do you attack, cast or something else? (You can keep your roll if you attack)
Polonius throws his ball of flame towards the nearest groaner, lighting up the remaining shredded clothing on its chest and leaving it a half-burned mess.
Turrey ducks around Azmerai as the barbarian forces himself to move away from his enemy and seek help.
