many add a little bit of Red wine.
No milk and no cream... I see a lot of Italian recipes were cream and milk are added when brought to the US and England.
Like in Pasta alla Carbonara.
Ah yes - the holy trinity (carrot, onion and celery). I worked in a country club as the saucier and often used this combo (though more for French style sauces).
I never got why the ragu sauces here (there is a large Italian-American community in St. Louis, that live in an area called the Hill) often use milk instead of wine - it is usually about a 1/4 cup or so of milk for the entire recipe - 2 or 3 pounds of meat, and wine flavors everything better in my opinion. But you are correct - a lot of cream and milk are used in Italian recipes here.
The ragu here is usually basically meat flavored with a little bit of tomato and milk. I like it quite a lot, but I'm sure it pales to the real thing!

Congratulations on ending the first fight of this AP.
While we continue with the story please, let me know if there is anything you want to know, propose or change in the way the game is conducted. Do you feel is fluid enough? do you have any doubts on anything? While I have been a DM for 24 years now this is the first time I do it as a PbP.
Fine so far.
One suggestion, you might want to consider switching to Google Drive for maps. I use it for my games, and it lets you put multiple graphics in the same drawing. So you can let people move their own icons.
Example Map Please don't change anything on it though, it's an active map in a game I'm running, but you can see people's icons, and they are individually movable.
The only problem I've found with GD is that some people are blocked from using it at work.
As to how things are going, everything is perfect over here!
Truthfully although I am enjoying this game tremendously. I am very conscious that a lot of the action and posting is happening during my downtime.
I can keep up but you folks may be better served by drafting someone else. Someone better able to roleplay within the party posts, i.e. on US time. You had plenty of applicants and this is a fine game with very realistic characters.
Think about it and let me know.

P.S. Tessa there were three teachers and five other volunteers. We are in a mini heat wave so the kids had a lovely time hunting bugs, butterflies and beach shells.
Wow, sounds like a fun time! My oldest is nearly seven and he just went catching bugs and tadpoles yesterday. They think it's the coolest thing in the entire world!

Just want to mention we've entered quarter-end close at work. My posting will probably be erratic until Wednesday.
Since I'm the farthest downstream on the information flow, it means I end up picking up the slack for everything else that goes wrong. Ended up working till midnight on Friday and several hours yesterday, none of which I knew about until 4:30 on Friday.
I got a lie-in, Tessa! Fathers Day present that lasted until 9am. Great after I had stayed up late to watch Italy beat my beloved football team. Suddenly the World Cup is looking very dicey. It could all be over in ten days for England.
Then breakfast, beach and then a gentle afternoon.
Sounds tough Kutsya. Hope the pressure doesn't last.

Tessa and Kutsya, it looks like we got a little information from our carousing - the name of Brissa Santos. How do you two feel about spreading some rumors, as well as looking for some? We may be able to draw Ms. Santos out...
Nothing about her being wrapped up in anything with Vanderboren, but more along the lines of something character besmirching, that she may want to show up to correct us about. She's a pickpocket and semi-legit artist - there has to be something there that she'd step out of her hidy-hole to defend.
If you ask Erick about it that night, he'll suggest the following.
That she has a Cheliax lover.
Certainly, we can pitch some ideas around!
The other lover might draw her out - I think it is a good idea.
The thing I was kicking around was something along the lines of: she has disappeared from the public eye because she's decided to go straight, and is talking/cooperating with the local guards.
Wanted to give a heads up that I'll be traveling to Seattle for the next week. Part of it is PaizoCon and part of it is visiting family. Shouldn't be completely out of touch, but it will be intermittent.

I think it's silly you can pull together five strangers and magically all of their personalities mesh instantly. I think it's something that needs to be built over a course of time and proven to each other. I have no intention of forcing Erick from the party.

mdt, I appreciate your comments. Sometimes its hard to tell the different when you don't know or see the other players.
Erick is a hardcase. That's fine by Bedu. But Bedu is a true Arab gentleman and always sees the best in womenfolk. He rarely gets uppity. I am interested to hear how the others respond. what do Gavin and Kutsya feel?
Out of character your characterisation is tough and resourceful. It may help if you let us all make decisions as well sometimes? Especially if you do not want to be the self-appointed leader. Maybe that is why Tessa is having a pop at your ego all the time.
Anyway I'm fine with it all.

Gavin, as posted, sees this as an opportunity to do what he should be doing as a fledgling priest, so although he's insecure in such a role, he'll often try to act as a mediator.

PaizoCon was awesome. I highly recommend it for anyone who can go. Next year it's over Memorial Day weekend (late May).

I get to the airport at 4:30 Wednesday for my 6:30 flight.
United tries to get by cheap and puts just enough gas in the jet to make it to destination. They screw up, have to turn around once they make it to the strip, and then take 2.5 hours to fuel up again and take off.
The plane lands at 8:30 (this is the plane coming to where I am). They swear they will have us out of there in 10 minutes.
At 9:15 we take off. We land at 10:45. My connecting flight is at 10:55, and is in another terminal. I run to the train that connects terminals. I get to the gate at 10:58. They didn't hold my plane, it's against policy.
It takes me 45 minutes of arguing with them but they won't give me a hotel, because it was the weather, not them putting too little fuel or refusing ot hold my flight for 3 minutes. BS.
I get to the hotel about 1:30 (actually in the hotel room that is). I'm so afraid I'll sleep through the alarm at this point, that I can't sleep. So I spend 4 hours resting on the bed watching tv before going back to the airport for a 7:25 flight.
The 7:25 flight leaves the gate at 7:45. We take off at 8:30. I get to my airport at 9:20. It then takes me another hour to get my luggage (they got it on the plane that took off without me the night before!), and finally get my car and head off home. I run into traffic, and it's 11:30 by the time I actually get into my house.
I then promptly fall asleep in front of the computer trying to work after having had no sleep for 36 hours.
So yeah, sorry for not posting yesterday. I'll get posts up today sometime.
Also, my apologies for not posting...I'm still here. I came back from vacation and walked into a buzzsaw at work. I'll get something up tonight, I promise.
Kutsya do you mean literatively walked into a buzzsaw or figuratively. Oww either way.
Totally figurative. I don't do real work -- I'm an accountant. But I do get caught with a lot of hard deadlines.
Basically, I've now fully paid for my week off.

Posting this in all my games, both run and played in.
As you all know, I've been rather busy and traveling a lot lately. This is going to continue for awhile. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up the posts. It's now confirmed I'll be going on an overseas job for 6 weeks at the end of August, coming back early October. I will hopefully be able to continue posting, but wanted to give advance warning.
I'll be 11 or 12 hours off my normal schedule, as I'm going literally to the other side of the planet. :) First trip to this area, so I'm not sure what the internet will be like, or even if I can get to Paizo. So if, after I leave, I vanish for a month, please don't give up on me, it just means I couldn't connect due to country filters or something.

Scarletrose, I made a bolognese sauce for dinner last night that was quite tasty. Ground beef, onion, carrot, bell pepper (I didn't have celery on hand), garlic, red wine, thyme, fennel seed, basil. Once the aromatics and beef were sauteed I added the wine and reduced it - and then added a small amount of milk, as is the tradition here :)
It turned out pretty tasty!
