Chandra Sylor
Chandra thinks I definetly need new spells
as she once again uses her sling attacking the rats in E11
sling: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
I found an error in my skills, Knowledge Nobility and local should be 5.
Denenor
Vermin. Did they not have more pressing issues? Denenor moved to dispatch the pests.
Longsword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Though ineffective against the lot in terms of precision, the creatures would get the gist of his sharp blade's swath soon enough.
The Random DM
Chandra's sling stone strikes home the blunt force of it crushing a trio of rats, but Deneor's longsword seems ill suited for extermination, slashing through only a single rodent. The halfling meanwhile dodges Elhona's shot, albeit barely, and waggles a finger at her.
Not sure this is entirely intuitive, so I'll say you can all gather from these attacks that rat swarms take half damage from slashing and piercing, and full damage from bludgeoning weapons.
The swarms remain in place, rats till gathering into the hordes.
Yves is up, please keep your roll though you may potentially augment it by charging, etc.
Yves
Yves noted that the number of rats increases, coming from several sides. At that moment the only thing that comes in his mind is squash the plagues that beset them.
Charge on swarm on his back (O-P/4-5) with Rage!
Warhammer: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 +4 = 14
AC drops to 11, Hp +2, Fort and Will +2, Dam +2.
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
The Random DM
Ha, nice, I was hoping you would choose to rage, just hit the AC on the nose!
Yves ploughs into one of the rat swarms sending blood and fur flying! Meanwhile above the piper begins to play in earnest, his music seems to calm the rats and suddenly their eyes are fixed upon the group with murderous intent!
Perform Wind Instrument: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
@Kibur sorry you should have been up with the first group please go ahead and take your action.
Kibur
Oh OK will do boss man
Kibur tries to focus in on the halfling on the roof.
Ya call dat playin'? If you be da one in carge a des rats. Ya best be shuttin' up da music an be lettin' em get back ta da sewers where dey belong
if in range (not sure on the height and angle) fire a bolt of acid at the halfling dude.
ranged touch: 1d20 ⇒ 1
well maybe st the wall of the building instead?
Chandra Sylor
"Can Someone stop the horrible screaching please!
Chandra request with a scowl, as she once again attempts hit the gathering horde.
sling: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Elhona Felar
Elhona curses her wild - and wasted - shot. She looks to see if there is a way to climb the building.
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
If there is, she moves there and starts climbing to get at the Halfling: Climb 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
If not, she double moves to N6 to use aid another next round to help Yves with his squishing.
The Random DM
@Ehlona Felar, I'm going to set the DC to climb the abandoned house wall at 12 - splitting the difference between a very rough wall and a natural rock surface. You move at 1/4 speed while climbing so that would put you 7 and a half feet up. Alternately you can try entering the house and see if there is a way onto the roof inside, I've marked the entry way with an arrow and its hanging ajar.
Kibur
round 2 when its Kibur's turn
seeing that his first shot went way off course it became obvious that Kibur was in fact 5 feet too far away so he then adjusts himself closer to shoot another blast of acid at the bad piper.
Taste da slimy goo of da earth music man
ranged touch with another acid bolt: 1d20 ⇒ 1
you have got to be kidding right? wait that was a leaner... ahhh I dropped the dice on the floor that doesn't count...
after the shot Kibur looks at his hand then decides it best to turn and at least face the building the next time.
The Random DM
Inside the building Elhona can see a flight of rickety looking stairs that lead upstairs. They are not difficult to traverse and she climbs them to find herself on a landing with a second staircase visible to her right.
That should take all of your movement for this round. I've tried to show the stairs via shapes.
Denenor is up.
Denenor
The rats seemed to be responding to the melody played, but Denenor could not manage to quash their maliciousness. In fact, there was little he could do to stop them from stampeding towards the group if they so chose. Instead, he tried to make himself a bigger threat - and a bigger target in hopes his allies could handle the mastermind above.
Shield bash: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
The Random DM
Chandra's bullet flies at the uninjured rat swarm sending a few vermin flying, Deneor's shield simply crushes a dozen rats.
Chandra, you would have taken a -4 vs the rats you previously targeted so I swapped it out, please specify foes if its not clear who you would target.
The rats surge forward engulfing Denenor, Gabriel, and Yves in squirming biting furry bodies and the reek of sewers, all are nipped and clawed wherever there is exposed flesh!
Denenor Rat Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Yves Rat Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Gabriel Rat Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Denenor, Yves, and Gabriel, each take the respective amounts of damage, and must roll two fort saves each. Please clearly mark one of these as for disease and one for distraction. If you fail the distraction save DC 12, you are nauseated for one round
Creatures with the nauseated condition experience stomach distress. Nauseated creatures are unable to attack, cast spells, concentrate on spells, or do anything else requiring attention. The only action such a character can take is a single move action per turn.
Yves
"GET OFF ME!" Yves screams and twist his warhammer toward the rats!
Fort (distraction): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Fort (disease): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Warhammer: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
The Random DM
With great sweeps of his hammer Yves sends rat corpses flying and the remaining rodents in the swarm surrounding him flee back into the dark places they emerged from.
The Piper edges carefully along the roof still playing, making his way onto the peek.
Gabriel is up, but may only take a move actions. Followed by Denenor, Elhona, Kibur, and Chandra
Chandra Sylor
Seeing Gabriel back up Chandra moves back even further from the rats.
"I believe I have a better view from back here"she says
sling: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 Trying to attack the rats in I14
damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2
The rats appear to have made her very nervious as she hits the wall with her stone.
Kibur
on Kibur's turn
with the R.O.U.S approaching from all sides Kibur backs up a step
ugly greetin arse-wipes he yells shooting a third blob of acid at the rat swarm just south of him.
ranged touch attack: 1d20 ⇒ 20
crit confirm: 1d20 ⇒ 18
crit damage acid: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10
in case not clear Kibur attacks the same rat swarm that Chandra is attempting to throw rocks at.
Chandra hand me some of ya bullets he holds his hand out for her.
set up for next round to cast magic stone on the sling stones she give him
The Random DM
Kibur's acid dart strikes a single rodent right between the eyes, but though the single rat dies it seems virtually ineffective against the swarm.
A swarm is immune to any spell or effect that targets a specific number of creatures (including single-target spells such as disintegrate), with the exception of mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, morale effects, patterns, and phantasms) if the swarm has an Intelligence score and a hive mind. A swarm takes half again as much damage (+50%) from spells or effects that affect an area, such as splash weapons and many evocation spells.
Denenor is up!
Denenor
Fort(Disease): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Fort(Distraction): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
After seeing the success of his shield as a weapon opposed to defense, Denenor tried the tactic once more.
Shield: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 3 - 2 = 18 Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Feeling sickened from the rats, the paladin asked for guidance from above. I hope I'm not catching some plague.
The Random DM
Deneor crushes more rats beneath his shield, but there are still enough to nip at him from all sides, the other swarm scurries forward engulfing the badly wounded Gabriel and Kibur and nipping mercilessly at their exposed flesh!
Gabriel collapses from blood loss and pain, buried beneath the vermin tide!
Yves is up!
Denenor please roll for distraction again DC 12 Fort, Kibur please roll for disease and distraction labelling both.
Denenor, you are not actually sickened and do not take the -2, essentially you have caught a disease, but it is not yet affecting you at all. Kibur, agreed and that is exactly how it should be even if you did know OOC that it wouldn't work Kibur would not have, I just felt bad negating a crit and wanted to be sure you knew why and had a chance to argue the point if you felt I had interpreted things incorrectly :)
Denenor Rat Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Kibur and Gabriel Rat Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Yves
Turning back and seeing the gnome unconscious and bloodied, surrounded by rats, Yves rushes furiously toward the swarm!
Warhammer: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
The Random DM
Elhona has now reached a rotten door which appears to lead out onto the roof, it is closed, but does not appear to be locked or barred in anyway.
The halfling piper continues to play and then leaps off the roof to land upon the much lower roof below, just managing to keep his feet though its obviously a big jolt and tiles go skittering down to the street below.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Jumping out to try to hit the higher portion of the roof - with -4 for halfling speed - then acrobatics to avoid falling damage.
Gabriel give me a DC 11 Con check to see if you stabalize please.
Elhona, Denenor, Kibur, and Chandra are up!
Kibur
Kibur takes a step back out of the swarm and begins to stomp the ground and chant as his wounds close up.
cast cure light on himself for 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
this activates divine vessel so all allies in 15' radius gain +2 attacks, saves, skill checks and ability checks (including stabilization rolls) for 1 round
Chandra Sylor
Chandra screams "I really hate these degusting rats" as she tries once more to crush them trying to hit the rats in L11
sling: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 2 - 4 = 10
damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1
But the fear of the rats sends her stone off target.
The Random DM
Elhona hears the halfling drop and is able to discern that he has dropped down to the roof below.
Elhona you can either move at half speed on the roof with no danger, or move at full speed with a DC 10 acrobatics check - if you fail you fall prone and must make a reflex save or risk sliding down the roof. You still have a move action.
Denenor is up!
The Random DM
You cannot actually use diplomacy in combat because a diplomacy checks requires 1 minute. You can still say that and take an action though.
The piper pauses for a second replying,
"You all agree to swear by gods and kin that you will leave this business with the dwarves alone and I can let you go. Just a hired hand here, so convince me you'll give off helping those beards and I'll be more than happy to be on my way," the halfling replies, before going back to his pipes.
Denenor may still take an action.
The Random DM
Elhona's feet slip out from under her and she begins sliding down the roof at an alarming pace!
DC 12 Reflex to catch yourself Elhona, you get one reflexive and may use a move action to get more on your next turn..
The rats boil over Yves, Denenor, and the unfortunate Gabriel their tiny bites insignificant alone but horrifyingly painful enmass!
Yves is up!
Yves and Gabriel take 1 damage each, and Denenor takes 4. I need a stabilization con check from Gabriel and the rolls vs Distraction and Disease for Yves and Denenor, you do not need to roll for disease if you have already failed.
Rat Damage Yves and Gabriel: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Rat Damage Denenor: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Denenor
Fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Total Defense.
The erosion of their well-being made Denenor's mind race with alternatives. I will not shirk my duty! "Leave we cannot, but if you are hired, perhaps it is time for a change in employer; will you leave if your coin is matched by us?" A man in the piper's squalor likely had no choice to feed himself but for this work.
The elf almost pitied him.
Yves
Yves continues desperately fighting the nasty little creatures. The sweat flows by his muscles, the blood flows through his body ...
Fort (distraction): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Fort (disease): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Warhammer: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
and +2 attacks, saves, skill checks and ability checks from Kibur
The Random DM
Yves sends more rats flying, but there still seem to be dozens of the vermin.
The piper quirks a brow, edging back even as he speaks,
"Well I am a mercenary, but nope, sorry I can't risk aggravating the Cons... kind of people who hire folk like me on a regular basis. I've got six kids to feed you know, can't do it dead. But if you do manage to beat my rats, you promise to let me go and I'll sing like a canary, can't say fairer than that. But you might just want to agree, what are these dwarves to you, and your mate there is being eaten alive - I don't want that on my conscience..."
Chandra Sylor
Yves move away from Gabriel and the rats should follow. That will get them to stop bitting him!Chandra shouts as she once again attemps to make rat sushi.
sling: 1d20 + 2 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 - 4 + 2 = 7
damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1
