Cool. I'm tempted to just pick one of my Pinterest character pics and create the character around it.

Liberty's Edge

^

I'm totally dotting, and there. I'm not sure what to do...a pinterest pic might be the easiest way to go since I come up with otherwise crazy concepts and looks. Lol

An entry from the diary of Lt. Micah Elsbridge of the honorable Order of the Albatross:

12th of Cooling, 251 AS -

We have finally made our way to Frijia with 60 people including ourselves. Several months ago, we stumbled upon a marvelous sight within that frozen wasteland. A large glen where the sun was warm, the grass was green and the water sparkling. Beyond the glen, we saw a forest of mushrooms and faerie folk flitting about. It was a strange thing to see twenty miles in, but there it was. There must be some power at work, but who can tell? There's only two sages among our ranks and they prefer to argue over how the queen's bloomers smell. The rest of our group are warriors aspiring to be knights and clerics who want to see the world and proselytize at any given chance.

Hells, I wouldn't be here if it weren't for Alkazharam, that crazy wizard from Garhazan. He had the money, so it's not like we could pass up this opportunity. We gave the volunteers a decent stipend. Hopefully, they'll help in this expedition. By that token, I also hope we didn't bring a bunch of criminals who'll kill us and steal the ship when we aren't looking.

Well, I'd better get these folks unloaded. It's a long hike to that glen. I wonder what we'll name it.

---

Basics:

#1: Backstory - This is all hinging on your ability to provide a compelling backstory. There's no great evil lurking here, maybe some small evils and mischievous fey. So in order to keep moving forward, there's gotta be some meat to your character beyond Stabby McKillington or Klepty McSnatch'n'grab.

#2: The usual: 20 point buy, 1st level (because I like watching characters grow and change), average gold plus 100. 2 traits. You can also take 1 drawback if you like.

Since you know me, I don't have to go into the rest of the spiel about prohibited stuff and posting rate. You're not douches, so I don't have to say anything about that either, lol.

I'll give you all a few days to get characters ready and, when you're set, we'll go.

@Mark and Phaedra: Wouldn't that take you forever with all the pins you two have on your boards?

lol, yeah but there's a few frontrunners

If she's basically like an "ice princess" I have a few ideas myself. Just have to look through some stuff. Hehehe

Gameplay opened for dottage.

Okay, so this is one option for what Frostine would look like. I'm still looking though.

I'll have to think about it and do some more looking so I have choices. I can't keep looking at all the pictures on Pinterest though cuz it's making me not sleepy at all.

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

Lol yeah I ended up adding a few lol.

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

Stabby McKillington or Klepty McSnatch'n'grab.

Best. Fantasy names. Ever.

Liberty's Edge

So no Lord Stabbington of Stabbington hall?

I thought so, lol.

The Stabbington line fell out of favor during the Third Age. They're all shoe makers now.

Female Aasimar Warpriest 12; Mythic tier 3rd (Marshal); HP: 102/102; AC: 25(28), FF: 19, T: 14; Init: +5, Fort: +12, Ref: +7, Will: +15; Perception: +9

Lol.....I don't know why he keeps on insisting that I'm tired. Lol

Oops....that person isn't here.

LMAO. I'm thinking of what would be fun and suit the setting. Bard, Ranger, Barbarian maybe Fighter

You could try Skald.

Viking Bard? Interesting

I'm just Frostine....if the name isn't already taken. Ill find a way to make it work.

Is the trip across the ocean part of it or do we start landing on the continent?

Male

I'll have to come up with something after work. I think what I'll do this time is randomly generate the character via the Ultimate Campaign Generator. I've done it once before and came up with a pretty interesting backstory for my Dwarf Rogue. But first, let's see what class I get.

Class, Minus Antipaladin and Sorcerer: 1d29 ⇒ 17

Oracle

Race: 1d23 ⇒ 12

Fetchling

This should get interesting.

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

Good luck explaining how a Fetchling gets picked/trusted to go on an expedition like this.

About the fetchling.....I'm not sure that would work with a more light hearted campaign. Unless they were trying to run away from something, or not like the other fetchlings at all. Maybe if they're searching for a better life and don't like living in the shadows? I'm not willing to.discount the possibilities right off the bat, but it's gonna take some real work and imagination to explain how they fit into the overall tone of the game.

So I think I'm down to a Skald or a full on Barbarian either way, Ulfen and used to cold (part of why she's sent)

Male Dhampir Investigator (Psychic Detective) 12/Archmage 3 /\/\ Init: +6 | HP: 76/76 | AC: 21 | FF: 17 | Tch: 17 | Fort: +6 | Ref: +13 | Will: +12 | +2 vs Disease / Mind-Affecting, +4 Ref vs Traps, +4 vs Psychic Spells / SLA | Perc: +17 (+6 vs Traps)

We'll see what happens when I generate the key plot points at random.

F Human Sorcerer [Boreal (Rime-Blooded)]4; HP: 21/21; AC: 13, FF: 10, T: 12; Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +6; Perception +5; Init: +2

So, here is the avatar for her at least. When I do her back story and stuff I'll find a more appropriate picture and post it. I'm pretty happy that I was allowed to with the name I originally picked. I'll add some stuff to her later so folks can take a look.

I'm still thinking along the lines of like an Ice wielding sorceress....just gotta figure out how she got taken aboard. Maybe cause she begged them to take her and her ice wielding skills might come in handy? She would do just about anything to get out of this marriage and away from the place that people might recognize her and alert her father. There's a bit of a story there, but I'll get into it later. I think she really just wants a chance to explore and find some life on her own so that she's not forced into the life they want her to have to further their political agenda.

I know it sounds a little deep, but I think I can make it work. Hehehe

F Human Sorcerer [Boreal (Rime-Blooded)]4; HP: 21/21; AC: 13, FF: 10, T: 12; Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +6; Perception +5; Init: +2

Randomness can be funny in itself sometimes. Lol I'm too much of an overthinker to do so much at random. I might use it for like age, or whot not....but since I have something specific in mind for this character...there's not gonna be nothin random about her. Lol

Only because we love you sooooo much!!! If it's trying to distract you, it must be for a reason right? Can't we all use a little more fun in our lives? I like games I'm playing in...I just need something that's not quite so serious right now so I'm not constantly over thinking every little thing I do or say. Lol

Anyone have an opinion on my two options?

F Human Sorcerer [Boreal (Rime-Blooded)]4; HP: 21/21; AC: 13, FF: 10, T: 12; Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +6; Perception +5; Init: +2

First....I love the mini's, they is really awesome. Second, I'm pretty familiar with a barbarian type and what they do....but, I don't think I've ever encountered a Skald before. I'm interested to figure out what it is they do and such. Just from the pictures though...I'm really really really liking the Skald. She so looks like she belongs in a frozen tundra, it's just really awesome. I like the red head too though....it's a tough choice, but I'd like to know more about the Skald before really deciding.
*opens ears and puts on, I'm ready to hear a story, face* Lol

Hello....can I post here?

I am interested... I think some of you know what/who I would like to play.

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

Skald is essentially a barbarian bard, one of their big things is they can sing their allies into berserker rages, make them stronger and faster. I think of stuff like this

They can also cast some regular bard spells like healing, and have bartic knowledge, so think battlesinger.

F Human Sorcerer [Boreal (Rime-Blooded)]4; HP: 21/21; AC: 13, FF: 10, T: 12; Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +6; Perception +5; Init: +2

Yup...you found it. *smiles*

In here I'm gonna be posting some pictures for a look concept for the Princess formerly known as Frostine. Hehe Well, she's only known as Frostine right now for obvious reasons. I'll post the picture options in a few and would like to hear what people think as well, since I'm gonna be using the picture to kind of build her story off of and use for a sort of inspiration.

I think since she's running away from a marriage not of her planning, that she should still seem a little innocent and vulnerable. Does that make sense? I really want to convey her need for adventure and wanting to build her own life. I'm hoping these pictures help me convey that.

I'll take also any ideas anyone has regarding this as well....especially since I'm going with a class that I've never dealt with before. Pictures to follow shortly.

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

Cool Going to bed for a bit but looking forward to them when I get up.

curious... what race is Frostine?

1 person marked this as a favorite.
F Human Sorcerer [Boreal (Rime-Blooded)]4; HP: 21/21; AC: 13, FF: 10, T: 12; Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +6; Perception +5; Init: +2

@Mark Okay, get some good rest and I hope you don't mind I borrowed some pictures from your own pinterest page since I couldn't remember where I saw the images that I liked and I didn't want to go searching through my 30 something boards to find it. Lol

@Eddie I was thinking just going with human for this one. She's young and inexperienced in the ways of the world, and is afraid of being trapped in a loveless marriage to someone she doesn't know and...she just, she really needs a friend with her that can help her figure out what to do next.

This expedition seems like the perfect opportunity for her to get as far away from Daddy as possible and figure out who she is without the constant barrage of rules, decorum, and political agendas getting in the way. Ya feelin me? Lol

Okay...yeah....totally totally the Skald. I absolutely LOVE it!! I think it's really awesome...I use that word alot don't I? Lol But it's true, and besides that....she's totally smokin' hot!! Hehehehehe

F Human Sorcerer [Boreal (Rime-Blooded)]4; HP: 21/21; AC: 13, FF: 10, T: 12; Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +6; Perception +5; Init: +2

Okay...so here is the list of ladies that I'm looking at for the image of Frostine and some inspiration into her character.

Starting with the first one I posted earlier:

Option 1

Option 2

Option 3 But with this image I'm kinda on the fence with the part of some of her parts actually looking like ice. That seems a bit extreme and a bit scary...but maybe something she does down the line? I don't know about this one.

Option 4 I liked this one for the outfit and her basic posture. She wouldn't have the owl with her obviously. Lol

Option 5 This one seems a little more sultry to me, and I'm not sure about the outfit. Doesn't exactly say running away to me, but then again ya never know as she's trying to NOT look like herself. Lol

Option 6 Umm...I liked the picture, but I'm not sure I could see Princess Frostine wearing something sooo.....revealing? Is that the right word? There was just something in her eyes that captured me, but that would be a big NO on the outfit.

And last but certainly not least we have:
Option 7 Again the clothing is wrong....but, there was something about her look. A kind of vulnerability that really got my attention.

Okay, those are my options, of course if someone finds something they think would suit better I appreciate all the feedback I can get.

Currently I have to go get ready to take care of some few remaining work things with the separation form and hand it into my supervisor. I've got all sorts of butterflies in my tummy right now.

I'm leaning toward option 7, myself.

too bad you didn't pick gnome:

here is the pic I used for my gnome winter witch

F Human Sorcerer [Boreal (Rime-Blooded)]4; HP: 21/21; AC: 13, FF: 10, T: 12; Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +6; Perception +5; Init: +2

It's okay....I found some pics that I think might work. But that's why I'm asking other people's opinion of what they think. I like the youthfullness of my 7th choice. Of course outfit and everything will be different.....I'm sorry if I seem like I'm rambling today, just got a lot on my mind with everything going on.

@Mark: We can start with the boat trip if you'd like. Give you a chance to introduce yourselves.

Added the world map to the campaign tab for reference, I'll be copying and pasting the language key from Icathia there in a minute or so.

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

Cool, Maybe she'd option 7 when we start and option 2 a couple levels in when she comes into her own/gets pissed off.

here are some more that I liked:

idea 1

idea 2

if you are thinking of becoming an archer (in addition to cold magic):

a younger age
