Ariana Rosencruz
Hmn..fine, that will do. Without further questions, she "allows" the artist to tattoo her. With Zayid here, definitely want to hear what they look like!
=In the Quarters=
Wait, we are expected to sleep in the same room? May not we be divided by gender at the very least?!
Johnny Porters
Johnny laughs loudly at Ariana's protest and smiles.
so Ariana you wouldn't want to be my bunk mate.
He gives a little wink to her
Now before you go throwing me into any ponds I am only joking. I am sure we can devise some sort of a divider to give the ladies a little privacy.
Johnny will look to use a sheet and other materials to form the barrier.
Freia
Freia enters the bunkroom with a blissful look on her face and her eyes focused on her new tatooes. They still sting and hurt but to her it doesn't matter. The represent something new, something she has desired for a long time - they represent belonging. Her happy thoughts cause her to beam like a sun. She is only snapped out of it when they close the door behind her and Ariana expresses her displeasure. She blinks and looks around realizing that she probably been grinning like an idiot at nothing in particular for the last minute atleast and blushes. She shakes her head to clear it before addressing Zayid.
"Mind if I take the bunk next to yours? I promise I won't be a bother - but you will have to look away when I change atleast"
He seems nice - and quiet - perfect to share that locker with. I just hope he don't have another outburst or anything.
Seeing as Johnny is building what can only be described as a pillow-fort she quickly adds.
"I don't think a solid wall would be a good solution, the space in here is already cramped. Can't we just let the men leave the room or something easy when we change?"
Besides, that way we get to spend another minute in the bed in the morning - yey! Freia thinks to herself, hoping that noone will see thru her clever plan. Then another thought occurs to her.
"Did anyone hear anything about our belongings ? Mine were taken when I arrived and I assume yours were aswell - when do you think we can get them back?"
Noro_Kas
After the tattoos and shown the common living space.
Noro lets the others decide about privacy or not, while she just goes and picks a bunk a little out of the way and starts to undress and climb into bed for a night's rest.
laying in the bed looking over the designs of her markings trying to figure out how to repeat the strokes and create them herself. (without the magic of course)
Noro does not seem to be bothered by the whole male female situation. as long as she is not close the the lizard.
Pelgrev
Johnny laughs loudly at Ariana's protest and smiles.so Ariana you wouldn't want to be my bunk mate.
Pelgrev pats Johnny heavily on the back, and laughs.
Scary lady. I bunk with you. Want top.
Pelgrev pulls off his remaining clothes, and reaches under his pillow for the robe. As he pulls it out, he hears Freia's comment about not looking.
Gods make us. All beautiful in own way. Do not hide.
He pulls on his robe with a shiver, and climbs into his bunk.
Freia
"Yeah - but it wasn't the Gods that made me. I'm fairly certain about that." She says in a faint voice before adding in normal tone "But I would still appreciate some privacy"
She gives Pelgrev a faint smile
"But thanks for the kind words"
Korrith
|
Korrith, as always, seems completely oblivious to any social oddities. He doesn't notice Noro undressing, nor does he pay attention to what anyone is saying.
And then he starts snoring.
Fun fact: kobolds have a third eyelid, like owls. It's basically a windshield wiper for the eyes, though this means that technically, kobolds can sleep with their eyes open. Yes, Korrith just fell asleep standing up, your point?
Zayid Tumaini
Zayid nods at Freia's inquiry regarding the next bunk, and gives another nod when she mentions changing. "Don't think anyone will be leaving the room for it, though," he mutters quietly, with a meaningful glance at the locked door.
Ariana Rosencruz
Ariana scowls, leaping on the bunk above Freia's and sitting in a meditation position. It looks like I will be stuck meditating instead of taking a long rest. Fortunately, such things are frivolities for our kind.
Freia
As Zayids speaks Freia glances at the door.
"I did not notice - but maybe they will leave it open later, if we behave ?"
With these words Freia slips down underneath the blanket before changing her clothes and making herself ready to sleep. She lies quiet for a while before saying a few last words.
"Goodnight" mentally she adds friends ... and falls asleep with a smile on her face.
Johnny Porters
Growing up on the streets there was little Johnny hadn’t seen and he really had no fear so he simply removes his outer clothing folding it neatly and climbs into bed. He starts thinking of where he came from and how he got here and smiles.
Better here than dead, which have always seems to follow me.
Good night my new friends.
Zayid Tumaini
Zayid unfolds the robe and studies it for a minute, then shrugs and sets it aside. Stretching out on the bed fully clothed, he yawns and glances around the room. Too many people... too close.
Despite his discomfiture, though, he eventually drifts off to sleep.
GM Choon
Sometime very early in the morning the door slams open, beacons of light flare into life in the four upper corners of the room, and Sorrow Caligrific barges in saying loudly, The time has arrived for your assignments! Don whatever clothes you wish, but be prepared to work! I want a line outside this door in two minutes!
He remains standing just inside the door, observing your reactions.
All you know is that it's early. The stone is cold under your feet though your bed remains invitingly warm.
Korrith
|
Caligrific notices the door twitching. Korrith fell asleep in an unfortunate location, and has been slammed against the wall.
Noro_Kas
not much different working the docks in winter. one gets used to it quickly
Noro gets out of the bed dressed and make her way out the door. not too thrilled with the military approach but until the situation proves to be more in her favor she will have to oblige.
remindsh me of my time on another ship, intereshting crew to shay the leasht
Zayid Tumaini
Zayid yawns slightly. He sounds like old guardsman Winby, always yelling at folk just trying to nab forty winks...
Two minutes, is it? Time enough.
Yawning again and rolling out of bed, still fully clothed, he turns his back on the others and begins performing slow stretches one after another in a kind of studied routine. After just over a minute of stretching, he shakes his head as if to clear it and heads toward the door. He makes no eye contact and seems to ignore the others as he selects a spot just outside the door to stand and wait.
Freia
Yawning and blinking Freia sits up in her bed. She surveys the room - noticing that something is missing, but can't really place what's gone. Instead she rubs her eyes and addresses the Sorrow.
"What time is it?"
Not waiting for a reply she dives back into her sheets and changes into the old uniform she wore previous day. As she sits up a second time she notices a tiny speckle of soot on her sleeve which reminds her of something.
Soot .. . Fire ... "Korrith!"
She nearly yells out the last part, much to the malign of anyone still sleeping, and dashes over to the door. Carefully, without disturbing the Sorrow, she closes the door enough to be able to peel the kobold from the wall.
"Are you okay back there?"
Johnny Porters
Johnny wakes at the first creak of the door and bounds to his feet in a squatting position reaching for his swords and then realizing he has none.
Dang almost forgot where I was sleeping so soundly
After listening to the commands Johnny reacts by getting dressed.
walking to the door Johnny peeks behind it at Korrith and Freia.
What happened here? Better get a move on little fella. I figure their two minutes means two and not a second more
Pelgrev
Pelgrev sits up after hearing the Sorrow's command. He slides off his bunk and lands behind Johnny with a thud.
Ungh. Is sun up?
Pelgrev pulls off the sleeping robe, folds it neatly, and places it in the chest at the end of the bed. He pulls on his prison-issue trousers, and walks towards Sorrow Caligrific.
Ready. You have gear for task?
Pelgrev yawns loudly and stretches. While standing near the door, he hears Johnny & Freia's concern for Korrith.
Is Lizard hurt?
Do we know what season it is?
Freia
"Good! Now, come here - we have to be ready and outside soon."
She stretches out a hand as if to brush away some of the dust that the door imprinted on Korrith for their close encounter but stops her hand midair, unsure how the kobold would react to being touched. Instead she settles for offering her hand to help him of the floor.
As soon as Korrith has been confirmed uninjured and is off the floor Freia hurries out and joins the ones already waiting. She nervously brushes away some imaginary speckles of dirt and soot from her uniform and straightens it by pulling the lower end and straightening her back.
Lets see what this day shall bring!
She looks around at her peers surrounding her and smiles faintly.
"Anyone have a guess what we will be doing?"
Ariana Rosencruz
Almost as if by magic, Ariana is at Frei's shoulder. Likely drudgery of some sort. Hopefully putting our talents to work in new and exciting ways. Ariana sounds far from excited and she strolls past, to stand before the Sorrow.
GM Choon
Sorrow Claigrific shows no reaction to your comments. He simply observes.
After you are all lined up, he leads the way through the maze of halls (though you're starting to notice a pattern, maybe) and to a mid-sized room with a stand of 3 chairs on the far side. The center of the room in decorated with a beautiful mosaic of a circle. Upon the circle's edge at the two, six, and ten positions are images of a set of scales, a crying face, a hand with a judge's gavel, respectively. In the center, larger than the others, is one of the more clear symbols for death: a skull.
The room is circular with plenty of room for all of you, and comfortable.
You are motioned to the center and pointed to take your place near the crying face. Sorrows Caligrific takes a seat in the center chair just as Absentia arrives. She crosses and sits to Claigrific's left. Caligrific starts speaking, but his tone has changed drastically to a more inflected, natural pattern and his cadence has done the same.
Welcome to the Chamber of Forgotten Sorrows. You have been brought here because you are each special in your own way. Usually, the Order gets nothing but cutthroats, pick-pockets, and the occasional petty thief. And by petty, I mean not worth his salt.
Yesterday, however, my fellow Sorrows and I came across a rather rare thing. A full group of capable, skilled Tears who were... mostly... sound of mind. Did his mask just glance at Korrith?
After much discussion amongst ourselves and with our colleagues elsewhere, we have decided to make you the following offer: If you can become more than you are singularly, if you can come together and work together, we will supply you and equip you to be the Order's vanguard in this city. We will excuse you from the ample physical labor here in the construction of our new home and send you after true threats to the order of the city and the safety of her inhabitants.
In return, you will certainly earn your absolution. Perhaps you will even consider joining us one day as a Sorrow. Either way, you will earn a faster reprieve than manual labor could ever accomplish.
Any questions about what I am asking? To be clear: once you choose this path, there is no return. If you fail us in open view of the city, it will mean all failure as a Tear means. It will haunt your days until your death, and possibly beyond.
Korrith
|
Korrith has completely recovered from his intimate meeting with the wall.
Korrth's cheerful voice rang out. "What would we have to do?"
Please no Embermaw diplomacy please no Embermaw diplomacy please no Embermaw diplomacy please no Embermaw diplomacy
Zayid Tumaini
Zayid frowns. I wonder... would the restrictions be greater? Surely there's something taken for the freedom of wandering about the city... convicted criminals, enforcing the law? It seems strange...
He says nothing, simply watches and listens.
Johnny Porters
I for one would like to use my... uhm... skills as it were to protect and serve. Just let me know what I need do and I shall do it.
Johnny steps forward and stands tall
It is time to move past what I was and become something different... better... worth living for.
Noro_Kas
might be intereshting to shee the look on shome of thoshe fashes down on the docksh. sheeing me walking free. Haha.
Noro just looks toward her "guards" when can I busht shome heads?
Noro_Kas
Soon, Miss Kasuri. There are plenty of criminals the watch needs retrieved. Can I trust you to retrieve them with naught but the bruises they deserve for putting up some measure of resistance?
ash long ash I can define "reshishtance" she says with a smirk but deep down she probably knows the real answer
Pelgrev
Help others? All, not just rich or noble?
Pelgrev's face is stony, but his body is tense with anticipation.
Already haunted. Can this one soul fit more regrets?
Zayid Tumaini
Zayid shakes himself as if trying to get rid of an odd impression, then glances up at Pelgrev's question. He wonders, too...
Zayid Tumaini
The watch... like Ilnar... he always knew what to do. Never did anything wrong, or even seemed like he wanted to...
Zayid's eyes wander down to his hands for a moment before returning to Absentia. Meeting her gaze, he nods slightly, then drops his eyes again.
Pelgrev
Pelgrev smiles broadly.
When helping start?
The barbarian cracks his knuckles and bounces a little on the balls of his feet.
Korrith
|
On phone because my dad took my computer (ssshh!) and I can't really do the dice expression for Korrith's perception, unfortunately. Not that he really has anything to say at the moment.
Freia
After hearing the Sorrows offer and pondering about the implications for a while Freia comes to the simple conclusion. It would probably be a lot more exiting and interesting to do this then simple manual labour. Besides, a few of her new companions have already accepted and she surely wishes to remain in their group. They have not been overly hostile - friendly even. And what are the odds of finding another group of likeminded people?
Resolute, she also steps forward and gives the Sorrows the answer they seek.
"Gladly!"
Johnny Porters
perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Johnny smiles slightly at the little chuckle.
Ariana Rosencruz
1d20 + 0 ⇒ (12) + 0 = 12
"We are asked to deal with that the Watch will not, then? The monsters in the dark and places where you can toss disposable criminals, hmn? Well..you may count my assistance in that matter then. This is an ideal way to absolve my crimes.
Korrith
|
And I'm back in business!
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Korrith remains gleefully oblivious to the laughing Sorrow, though it isn't likely that he'd have made anything of it even if he had heard.
What needs kaboomed?
