In general I would let the other GM's know about any big ideas or events, but you can also play off the fact that the city can be a confusing place full of rumors. Should everyone know about a chase scene involving a runaway wedding carriage and three iron golems? Problably. Should everyone know about a major law, bounty, tax or, city-wide event? Definately. Should everyone know that you claimed one guy had a monopoly on a relatively mundane service like letter-carriers? Not really if nothing else it could have been true at the time, a lie to increase sales or, just incorrect information.
Cities are full of rumors and misinformation, these are your friends.

Excellent news!
My game goes swimmingly, but I fear I'm getting ahead of the other games. My players are getting ready for day two of investigations and will be heading back to the three ships armed with a couple spells that should help. Blood Biography, to name one. They will also find the identity of the bodies today and probably follow up on those.

GM Choon |

Hey guys, long time no see.
Just checking in. How are your investigations going? My players are about half way through day two, still investigating the three ships.
They have found that the male victim who was an initiate of Nethys was named Taldi and was contracted by a lady (the murder) under a pseudonym and false shipping company in order to lure him to the scene

My game’s moving along. It’s started to move more quickly since I’ve come to terms with the fact that a few of my players really aren’t interested in leading the action.
We just finished up their intro mission. I’m going to give them a bit of organization background and then launch them into the investigation.
Was there a centralized location with info on the murder sites and what can be gleaned from them?

GM Choon |

They were here in this thread just before Tobaris made his return, but there are quite a few sites.
I really feel that they should be able to glean the identity (or at least identifying features) of the culptits from 2-3 sites. Otherwise this will take forever. What do youall think about reducing the number of murder sites?
In that vein of thought, could I get physical descriptions and any other info on the murderors any of you and mr. over-GM have made up? I have included my contribution so far above.
The male wizard will be the one who set up the company, pegging him as an accomplice
Also, how do youall feel about weaseling it around as GM's so all our groups converge on the murderors on the same day/night, kicking off our first inter-thread event?

Below is the dossier I provided to my players.
-------------------------
These are the official records on the gruesome serial killer or serial killers, who we have dubbed as the Dockland Murderers. The common thread seemed to be the excision of the face and replacement by a gruesome demonic mask in each case, which is what we used to compile this dossier.
3rd of Abadius - Prominent Merchant, Sir Brabantio, was murdered early in the morning, on a visit to the docklands, and his body was left on the street. First suspected crime of serial killer
19th of Abadius - Judge Goron of the Docklands Poor Courts was murdered in his chambers during a court recess. His body was found outside leaning against a lamp pole.
Calistria - No murders were found during this month
7th of Pharasma - Cleric Garal was impaled on a pike and thrown into a mausoleum a few days before he was discovered, on the 7th, by a grieving family.
Gozran - No Murders were found during this month
4th of Desnan - Four unidentified bodies were found flopped over the walls of the marble district. Three of them were identified as Varisians and the fourth was too mutilated for portrayal.
3rd of Sarenith - Prominent Paladin, Sir Veryl, was assassinated by the dockside. He fell into the water and his body never recovered, but unholy arrows decorated with designs consistent with the demonic masks were found nearby.
Erastus - No Murders were found during this month
1st of Arodus - Three bodies were found in the cargo hold of three different leisure ships, with no identifying marks.
6th of Arodus - Family of four was found dead, with their bodies seated at the dining room table. The smell of the decomposition alerted their neighbor, who discovered them dead on the 6th of Arodus.
Scrawled at the bottom
26th of Arodus - Fire at the Silver Dragon Inn, suspected rumors of killer association in the community.

7th of Pharasma - Cleric Garal was impaled on a pike and thrown into a mausoleum a few days before he was discovered, on the 7th, by a grieving family.
*Cleric Garal was a low-ranking priest of Pharasma, mainly charges with maintenance of Magnimar's public cemeteries. Even though he was in his waning years, he struggled to ascend the church hierarchy, a frustration and struggle that was known to strain his family life.
Gozran - No Murders were found during this month
4th of Desnan - Four unidentified bodies were found flopped over the walls of the marble district. Three of them were identified as Varisians and the fourth was too mutilated for portrayal.
*The unidentified Varisians were actually members of a Szarni gang, escorting a prostitute. They were bringing the woman to their prized fighter, a champion in one of the Serpent's Run's off-the-books fight clubs.
3rd of Sarenith - Prominent Paladin, Sir Veryl, was assassinated by the dockside. He fell into the water and his body never recovered, but unholy arrows decorated with designs consistent with the demonic masks were found nearby.

*The family of four ran a local butcher's shop. They were known to squabble, often violently. On more than one occasion the watch was called when their arguments got out of hand.
Scrawled at the bottom
26th of Arodus - Fire at the Silver Dragon Inn, suspected rumors of killer association in the community.
With the killers and their motivation being what it is, the details I added ties the victims together thematically, much like the murders in Rise.

Post detailing the victims
This Post and the next provide some detail on the Idle Hands victim.[/ooc]
Please contact me for more info if your group heads to this scene.

Alright.

Which group is farthest ahead timeline wise? Also given the pace of your games about how close are you to finishing the adventure?
It is possible for a group to reach the villains and defeat them before other groups get there although I'd rather have them come together somewhat.
I am looking in to fleshing out the details of the next major event. Also I'm looking into how the different groups might have made the public eye, so if there are any events that would get major rumors going let me know. Obviously the group or groups that defeat the culprits will be getting some attention but for all I know there was chase scene through a major market which would also get a group a reputation.

GM Choon |

I suspect mine is furthest ahead in time itself, but I'm not sure where the other groups are investigation wise. We are currently mid-day on day two of investigations. We investigated the triple dock murders. I could reveal the vilians at any time. My group has a faster posting schedule than the other two as far as I've seen, so I've taken to sending them off on side quests of my own devising to slow them down while keeping up the pace.
I think I'm having trouble deciding how much to give out? Do we want the groups to discover the culprits after just one site? It would speed things up timeline wise which would not be a bad thing, IMHO.
As for events that may have caused rumors:
The group fought off twelve wolves and then captured a dire wolf (which they turned into the Watch) at the Old Fang tavern.
In the future, I recommend that events have a more linear focus to force the groups together. This had too many options, I feel, when the main draw of this experiment was multi-party interaction.

Tobaris |

we're going to need more structure in general for this to work. We need to know what information there is to gather, what details to give out about the objective, etc.
Alright I can make sure the next event is more detailed. Would you want me to make more detail for the current event or do you guys want to finish hashing this one out while I work on the other one.
The reason I asked is because I would like for the party furthest ahead to be hampered by a major storm for about a day to show the district beginning to boil over as people are cramped together in miserable weather.
