I am always convinced I'm correct at the time, however. ;D

Heh. As are we all my friend, as are we all,... ;)

You guys crack me up. Proper old-school trap-finding. Land in them.

Hey, sometimes the old ways are the best! ;)

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

For all encounters so far (2 combats, interrogating the alderman and the trap) you each have gained 1066 XP!

Woo-Hoo!
Sweet, beautiful XP!

At least SOME things never change from edition to edition!

Human

I think the mattresses and bookcases to disable the traps is very old-school as well.

Yep.
I've played with some very creative fellows before. BAck in 1st Ed. since there was no skill list (other than thief skills), we got VERY creative in using whatever was at hand to bypass a situation. But as the years wore on, some became power-gamers and tended to forget that they were MORE than the sum of their stats and skill bonuses. (GUilty of that myself on occasion.)

(Sigh) Need to get the old gang together again, and give us all a refresher course in 'old-school' gaming! ;)

Good work guys!

Paging Sydley Hentooth, Sydley Hentooth!

Are you lot happy for me to cut to you at the bottom of the stairs?

That's fine by me

Human

Yes.

Yes

Yeppers, fine with me! 'Tally Ho!'

As Seram Zal/Lazaro pointed out in the Game thread, this is indeed a tough fight - your last one was a bit of a killer too, and this one is along the same lines in terms of difficulty, if not more so.

You may have to box a bit clever in terms of team-work, and I would strongly encourage you to discuss here what your tactics/strategy are likely to be. This is one area in PbP that can get missed.

As ever, Grafire is good with the in-character advice.

Human

Good spot on the teleporting statues Grafire.

Tactically, Akahale has very little to offer in the area attack department unless he can get curses on enough of the enemy. He's also not a lot of use inflicting ongoing as these chaps are immune to poison, rendering one of his daily powers completely useless.

What he can do is take advantage of the statues to bingle about cursing as many of them as possible and then find a nice defensible spot to dole out the ranged damage from.

Our problem is going to be creating an effective chokepoint as the stairs are only effective for the two front rows. On the upside, that gives Manny some much needed protection.

Alternatively of course, we could always back up ourselves and force the fight into the corridor.

Just typing aloud.

N Warforged Fighter

It is, of course, barrelling through to the big bad (if I could roll above a 5), but is amenable to IC suggestions.

ack! website clogged up for a minute there,...

CHecking now, but if Manny isn't in trouble now, he soon will be!

Maybe we can fall back to the stairs, and force them to come to us as mentioned above, thru Manny's 2 area effect spells? Maybe not, one is a poison cloud, not much good against teh fish-faces,...

I'll be back later,...

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

What do you think IT? Should I drag you out of the line of fire. I figure another round will put you down again. Plus right now I have my shield up.

Human

Sounds like a plan. Get him out and head back down the stairs. If they follow us down at least they can't use the statues to avoid Althanis's area attacks.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Ironically I think he would fair better AC-wise against all the OAs he'll suffer for leaving their threat zones without shifting than he would if he stayed where he is. Weird.

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

What are the rules as far as how many OA's 1 monster can have. In other words if I drag him out of there can 1 monster do 1 OA on each of us. That seems weird. It would be like a double attack.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

PHB p290

"One per Combatant's Turn:You can take only one opportunity action during another combatant's turn, but you can take any number during a round."

So they can each make one OA on Grafire's turn; now, as this is a circumstance that is a bit unusual, I would rule that any of those able to attack It may do so. This does mean that you may be able to spread the OAs between you.

On my home front, it's my bday today, so I probably won't be around tonite.
Hopefully because I'm getting to celebrate!

Laters,

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Happy Birthday! It's Manny's shot now, as It has been dragged clear. New map posted in the thread.

Human

Apologies to you all if I'm rather sporadic in responding in the next day or so. Have hectic 24 hours coming up and have also been smitten with nasty bug which is making me feel a bit rubbish.

Hey, I'm back.
Had crazy week/weekend myself.
MArdi Gras party in my auditorium,... yippie,...

Will be busy this week with a musical a high school is putting on (Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat) SO I'll pretty much be unavailable at nights, but should be able to keep up during the days.

<Crosses virtual fingers>

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

JACOB! Jacob and sons, depended on farming to earn their keep, JACob, Jacob and sons, spent all of their days in the fields with sheep!

Great stuff - directed it 18 months ago.

Heh,
When I was getting my Masters, our resident teacher/tech director had a real thing for Elvis. After the show was over he played the 'Elvis has left the building' announcement! heh.

Ah, the good old days,...

Sorry, been busy at work, and will be throughout the weekend. (And not JUST because it's Valentine's day!)

Should be back to (fairly) normal next week.

And the high school group is doing a pretty good job on Joseph & the Technicolor Dreamcoat, it's a fun show.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

I will be on holiday for a week from tomorrow, and then I'll be busy with show week. So it may be a while before there is an update. Apologies - sorry to have a break during quite a complex combat.

I hope people are having fun despite the battle being very difficult, and keep updating your dots!

Human

You're rolling well and have lovely tough monsters to play. We're rolling rubbish on the whole and aren't frothing loonies (apart from Seram, Mandrake and Mr Paranoia). OK. Half the party are frothing loonies as well.

Yes, it is fun. I love Akahale dearly. Oddly enough, thanks to Rowan's spell, he's got more hp now than at the start of the fight.

Oh - and I'm also away next week.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Important thing with Rowan's spell - it only heals 6hp if you're bloodied.

Human

Have removed the 6hp he shouldn't have got.

Heh, somehow this always happens. (Although I usually roll MUCH better on average for attacks!) But somehow my casters always end up in the line of fire!

Here's hoping that Manny can be saved, because you don't want me to introduce you to his much crazier cousin! or worse, re-create the ORiginal Ragadolf! Because that guy will make Manny look positively normal! ;)

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

Ok cool. I was wondering what was going on with the turns. I think we are waiting on Manny, no biggy though.

I am having a lot of funny trying to play some sort of no soldier left behind kind of leader. But I can see I am taking a beating. :D

Oh. Sorry. I thought we were waiting on the DM to get back and declare the start of next turn! DId I miss it? I thought he said he would be out of touch for a week?

Sorry if I missed it, it's been a crazy week. ;P

Mardi Gras time here in Lousy-anna. Posting will be erratic until Wed probably.

Laters,

Human

I'm back, as is Fabes.

HAPPY MARDI GRAS/FAT TUESDAY!

(I tried to log in yesterday, but Paizo seemed to be offline for some reason)

And now, for one last flurry of PbP before the famine of Ash Wednesday befalls!

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

I had no pancakes for Shrove Tuesday. :(

But I had some last week, so that's ok.

This week is show week and I have ended up having to go on stage in place of one of my cast. Rather vexing. I will update as soon as I can.

Human

No pancake-age for me either. Totally forgot.

I also had pancakes last week, (no, wait, that was teh week before. Last week it was homemade French toast)

But what is this Shrove Tuesday? It is new to me.
Though if it involves pancakes it will quickly become one of the most important dates on my calendar!

Sorry to hear about the troubles Fabes, Break a leg!

Shrove Tuesday aka Fat Tuesday or, in French, Mardi Gras.

The pancake thing is new to me, though.

Human

Shrove Tuesday is known as Pancake Day around these parts. The idea was to use up all the dairy products in your house in pancakes before Lent started.

Rags, as far as the leg breaking goes, we've had more than our share of that. After last night's little effort, I'd gladly break more than the legs of a few of the cast topped off by my own and Fabes's necks.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Standing backstage, whispering "Go on NOW!" to a 15 year old who has been rehearsing this play since September is particularly irritating.

Ah,... NOW I see said the blind man!

It'll be ok guys, just remember, the best thing about starting a show,... it has to eventually END! ;)

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Well, 'tis done and what do you know? They only went and did a performance so spectacular that parts of it made me cry as a director.

Anyhoo, on with killing fish-men!

Human

They were jolly good. The change between the first and second performances was something miraculous to behold.

Yay! Glad to hear it guys.

So,... I'm a little slow sometimes, but I DO catch on, eventually.

So Fabes and Rev, you work together? Whereabouts if you don't mind me askin'?
