Sending out a trickle of job applications now that university is done. It's going to be an uphill struggle to find a job but I'll stick at it. On a brighter note, I started running a face-to-face rogue trader game. One of the players has an Ork character - it looks like it's going to be one of those games.

No offense to your judgement but why'd you let the player play an Ork? And why would an Ork want to travel around with a bunch of squishy humans rather than raiding and killing?

He's one third of the party and he was really keen to play one, so I wanted to work out a way of making it happen. I checked with the other two players as well. The rules are given in Into The Storm, so I figured they were worth at least trying out.
It ties in with the goals of the party pretty well - they want to explore the Heathen Stars and if they want to properly exploit them they'll need a way of securing trade through the region around 'undred 'undred teef. An ork ally (and his mob - no Orks travels alone) would turn this from impossible to merely very difficult. Plus travelling with a rogue trader crew garuntees interesting fights - beating on other Orks on Tusk gets boring after a while for some. And he's a Blood Axe, so it's slightly more believable.
Don't worry, he's certainly not any use in negoitations and diplomacy. His debut session today was good fun. He's struck a good balance between true to the fluff and compatible with the party.

Hard luck Acune. Better luck next time eh? :)
Sorry for the absence again folks. This damn summer... All of the old crowd just poured back in from where they were hiding. Most nights see me in a drunken stuppor or playing a RL Game. it has been... Taxing. I have spent so much moola on booze these last two weeks I am sure the Government thinks I am running it to the north! :P
I will be around for a damn long time now though.

Oooh, fiction contest. Is you work up on the net somewhere? Wouldn't mind giving it a look.
A previous entry is on the Chronicler site- it's under 2010 archives, and the title is "The River Cure." It might take a bit of looking around.
I also rather liked my entry for this year, and it's on the Chronicler forums- you have to get an account and the password, but even if you didn't enter you could explain along with your request that you'd like to help edit the entries. The title for my short story is 'The Gamble'.

If you haven't yet go see Captain America. It is awesome!
I'm going to- if it's anything like the quality of Iron Man it'll be well worth it.
I also liked Thor, but my friends refuse to see it as it doesn't follow Norse mythology at all. One of my friends who was most vocal about it had to ask who Loki was ::headdesk::
Nine Tail |
Got my Ultimate Combat PDF. A nice archetype for Nine Tail - Urban Barbarian. Rage boosts Dex instead of Con. Very good fit with Nine Tail being a ex-street tough. I will post details when I have the pdf in front of me, and look through it a bit more. I will have to make sure it doesn't interfere with the Spirit totem.
But..I also need to retcon his weapon. Heirloom weapon got officially adjusted. New version does not work for Exotic Weapon which had allowed Nine Tail to use his katana one-handed. Will think on this over the weekend.

Heirloom weapon is still the same in my game. No need to change.

Valen Morse wrote:Just as an FYI I found an avatar picture that I like a lot better for Valen. That is all.Now that your even prettier(ugh, lol) do you want to take your AoO?? or are you weaponless??
I am aren't I? Haha!
And, I moved 30 feet away, if possible without proc-ing an AoO then instead I took a 5' step back. I don't think any of the skeletons moved toward me.
2) I'm unarmed.

Alrighty, you're all level 2 now.
Since both UM and UC are now officially out, feel free to remake your character, with anything from either book. However, I do not currently have UC, but will buy the PDF once it comes out morrow.
Please run all changes by me first, though you can skip things like HP and skills, unless the skills are due to something new. You may either roll for HP or take the average(Half your HD+1).
Torque Mitabu |
So we're rolling, but the minimum HP we can gain is HD average rounded up?
Looks like the Iron Carnival is going to be a seriously badass outfit. No complaints here.
HD roll: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Excellent. Torque might not be able to fight for love nor money but at least he isn't developing a glass jaw. By the way, how are we going to split loot guys? Evenly? Voice-of-Awesomeness, will Two-bear want a cut?
Now that's we've levelled, something to note about aritifcer wierd science devices: they can be used by anyone who can pass a DC15 UMD check. That means that if I were to put a self-tageting spell on it other members of the party could apply it to themselves. Fury, how would you like to share a Gravity Bow machine?
Also, am I the only person who never decided on a teamwork feat?
Nine Tail |
HP Roll
1d12 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 Nice!
I will make a decision on the Urban Barbarian. Gives up the speed bonus and I believe medium armor (iirc), for the ability to apply the rage bonus to Str, Dex, or Con (or mix and match at higher levels), a bonus for fighting multiple opponents and some flavor abilities.
And I know it doesn't interfere with Totem Warrior, as those are just rage abilities, but I may have to drop Invulnerable rage, if it interferes.

Woot! Level 2, more spells per day!!!
Don't forget favored class bonuses! 1 to hp or 1 skill point. Or the race and class specific bonuses in the APG.
Hey Voice, is it ok if I take the Human Sorcerer favored class bonus? I.E. one extra spell known for any level besides my current highest?
Also HP roll 1d6 ⇒ 5. I like! I'll keep it.
I added Message and Disrupt Undead to my spells known.
So since we're playing with the Hero Points system should we also be getting a Hero Point since we leveled? And 1 for starting the game?
Voice of Awesomeness |
Anything from the PF books is legal, so yes Valen, that Human Sorc bonus is fine.
We are using the anti-hero system, which is a bonus feat that must be a teamwork one, but I borrowed an idea from my DM for the Steel Wolves, which is you may switch it whenever you level for a different teamwork feat.
Also, sadly, it would appear we are no longer doing the whole interconnected mercenary team. Without Pentor, who has gone missing, there's no overarching leader. I still want to do it, but I think at this point its far too difficult to pull off.
However, I may see if I can at least get the Steel Wolves and Iron Carnival to work together some time down the line, but I can't make any promises.
Voice of Awesomeness |
Who all is completely finsished leveling?? If you need any info from UC, I have the pdf, and can get ya what u need.
Btw, just throwing this out there, but I am so making Blaze(my pc in the Steel Wolves) into a Kensai Magus once we lvl again. That is one damn nice archetype. And the Magus abilities are just gravy for him.
Nine Tail |
Nine Tail went with the Urban Barbarian. His Speed drops to 30' only light armor, but he gets Controlled Rage which apply a +4 to any physical ability (or +2 to a pair of abilities), no will bonus, no AC penalty, can use mental skills while raging. And +1 to hit/+1 dodge when adjacent or 2 or more opponents.
He is also able to manifest his spirit totem in battle. His Kisune tails become visible when stressed and one tail can do a negative energy attack a round.
And he picks up DR1/-. Added to his max HP roll, not too shabby as leveling up goes.
