"Lets see when we come back. He maybe just needs some time."
After fitting the heavy armour, Vrald asks for a couple of bits of assistance with the various buckles.
"I've always wanted a set of full plate like this. Fantastic stuff, look at the qualify of the workmanship."
Then he eyes the stairs that the ghouls must have come down.
"Lets see if there are more where they came from, before we try the door."
Slowly and carefully Vrald climbs the stpes to the north.

"It is beautiful armor. Suits you well... ha! I made a funny!" Kristen says, smirking.
Maeron Calaerdaer

"I agree. Give him some time, he deserves that."
Maeron urges Treestump on, waiting for his allies to progress.

The stairs to the north lead down to another room with three alcoves. They are also filled with bones, but it is empty otherwise. You can see tracks in the dust on the floor where the ghouls moved, but you don't spot tracks of human feet.
I moved you into the room with Marlinchen, hope thats ok.
Jaegar Alvar Tarnshiav

Jaegar looks to the Hunstman for aid, and casts Guidance before following Vrald up the steps.
"Be careful. While your new armor may make you feel invincible, the previous owner may disagree."

Just realized that in the time that Vrald took to put on the armor the doggie would have disappeared. Sad times. :)
"Yes, let us continue on." Kristen follows Vrald and Jaegar up the steps.
Vrald Sehir

Vrald quickly searches the room, in case the ring had been on a finger that was gnawed and then cast aside.
perception: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Once sure it is not there he returns to the door on the ghost childrens room
Jaegar Alvar Tarnshiav
|
Jaegar sweeps the room with a quick Detect Magic then returns to the central room with the remainder of the group.
He turns to assess the party, "Are we ready to press on? I know Kristen is running out of resources. Gilfroy, Maeron, Tenderstump, and Deris, how much do you have left in the tank?"
Vrald Sehir
|
Vrald shrugs.
"Time I stepped up a bit then. The critters have yet to scratch me, and they'll find it even harder if I'm wearing this." he taps the armour a couple of times.
"I feel I could take on an orc hoard single handed!"
He moves to open the door.
GM Baerlie

Jaegar does not detect magic in the abandoned bone room. The fingers are dusty, but none of them wears the ring you are looking for.
Vrald moves up to upen the door. Behind that door are another few steps leading up to a room. In this room you see a broad staircase leading down to a narrow passage to the west, stairs leading down to the north and stairs leading up to the south. There are no bones in this room, it is empty with a dirty and wet stone floor and mossy walls.
Vrald Sehir

Vrald slowly enters the room.
"Lets try dry first." he says, heading up to the southern stairs. Carefully looking for anything that might be a trap.
perception: 1d20 ⇒ 7
"I still remember a swinging axe from a vault under..." he starts to reminisce about traps he has triggered in the past...

Jaegar casts Guidance and follows Vrald. His darkvision panning the edges of the light cast on Vrald's armor.
He quickly scans up and down the stairwells flanking the small corridor.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
I moved Vrald toward the northern steps, as the southern steps were apparently clear of threats.

Kristen follows the men-folk, watching for danger and silently praying for the poor man who wants to spend time with his daughter's ghost.

With a somewhat delayed response Maeron responds to Jaegers question.
"I have yet to use any of my attunement to the natural world, for what good it will do us down here. In addition, my arrows are plentiful and Tenderstump rarely tires. We are both at your disposal."
Vrald Sehir
|
With the side passages searched, Vrald heads down the stairs to the west.
As the surface becomes uncertain, he starts to probe it with his sword, aiming to avoid any pits that may lurk beneath the surface.
perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11 <includes guidance.

Maeron and Tenderstump follow Vrald, taking a more forward position to allow their allies some respite. With a druidic whisper, the treesinger instructs his companion to guard the fighter.

Is the door sealed? I'd hate to let the ocean flood in and drown us.
How damp is the area? Does it smell of salt?
"Can anyone tell what is beyond the door? I can hear the ocean, and I'd not want to flood us..."

Vrald looks surprised for a second.
"I think this place is getting to Hubert. Are you sure you are not really calling a dead spirit when you do that?"
Gilfroy Fezziwig PFS
|
"Pretty sure. I think Hubert, in his passive-aggressive, friendly-mocking way, is offering silent commentary on how the hell you think any of us are going to be able to tell what's on the other side of the door without opening it."
Hubert nods.
"However, since I would rather be constructive myself, I would point out that if you can hear sounds typically associated with the ocean, the door is not under water, as the sounds of crashing surf can't be heard under the surface. It probably leads to a dark and murky underground jetty or sea cave. At the very worst, waves might crash into the open doorway, but we should still be able to close the door."
Vrald Sehir
|
Vrald, somewhat taken aback nods to Gilfroy. "Yeah, that was what I was thinking too. But it never hurts to ask."
He opens the door.
GM Baerlie
|
After Hubert checked the other side Vrald opens the door. With the frequency of storm waves approaching the shore, salt water erupts from cracks in the floor of this large hexagonal room. Foamy, blinding spray jumps in every direction, then drains from calf-height to ankle-deep before the next wave hits. Occasionally a length of black-brown seaweed shoots in and adds one more strand to a room that already appears draped in long wet hair. In each of the chamber’s six corners, a fluted pillar rises to the fifty-foot ceiling. Between each pair of pillars, an open arch connects the chamber to an attached space. Beyond the northwest and southwest arches, three tiers of recessed spaces form three massive steps. A stone sarcophagus rests on each step. Each stone sarcophagus is stuck closed except for the front most one in the northwest alcove.
Maeron Calaerdaer
|
Maeron raises an eyebrow at the situation.
"I have been in a situation similar to this before. Tred carefully, the dead rarely rest easy. That said, I imagine the ring we seek is in one of these tombs."
The elf and his companion cautiously enter the room, eyeing up the sarcophagus.

Vrald carefully pulls aside the lid.
Takes ten for a result of 14.
"Maybe we should have looked in those side rooms first." he adds, looking in.

"Why would she be in here.. unless she was hiding in here when the quake struck..."

The sarcophagus lid slides aside with the sound of a grinding millstone. The well-preserved body of a young girl lies inside, stringy black hair obscuring the face. Her atrophied limbs are drawn up like folded sticks against her torn school uniform.
In the western side room Vrald hears some snoring and shuffling. He takes a closer look into the room and sees a ghast moving in this room.

Don't panic, we have still 11 days left ;) We will finish on time.
Maeron concentrates on the ghast so he has a better chance to hit as soon as he decides to attack. Vrald moves closer to the ghast preparing to attack as soon as it comes closer. At the same time Jaegar shoots an arrow at the undead creature, but the arrow hits the corner between the hallway and the room.
