I hope that this doesn't interfere with your upcoming post, Rizzenmagnus. I don't think it will, but if it does, let me know!

Although she moves much more slowly than Rhoekk, Alathea likewise springs into action at Chen's attack. As quickly as she can, she runs over to place herself in front of Kodokura, interposing herself between the Asha'man and the Ogier. With a snarl of determination, she draws deeply on saidar and spins strands of Air, Spirit, and Fire into a ward around both herself and Kodokura. As she does so she mutters, almost under her breath, "You will not kill my Heart again, Ogier!".

Alathea is using a Ward Against People at either level 2 or 3...whatever is enough to encircle herself and Kodokura (I marked off a level 3 weave).

Male Human Wilder 8/ Asha'man 2/ Armsman 2 (hp: 69/69)

Well, this is a bit tricky. Were Chen an NPC, Kodo would have certainly lashed out with an offensive weave if he attacked Jasper, as he has been trained to do. While he's certainly not a White Tower supporter, he has no respect for the Seanchan at all with their collars and all. Perhaps fortunately, however, I've been a bit slow on the posting in this instance, so I guess we'll just put it down to Kodo's slow reactions this time around.

The ogier's attack, and Rhoekk's blindingly fast counteraction, are begun and finished before Kodokura can strike. By the time he's taken a split second to assess and decide to kill the ogier anyway, his line of sight is blocked by the pretty little Red Sister. Hearing her muttered words, he once again feels a tug at his soul, and finds himself unexpectedly losing contact with the Power as shock runs through him.

Standing mutely like a frozen deer, he struggles to wrest control of the Source once more, revelling in the feeling of life flooding through him, his skin crawling at the touch of the taint.

So yeah, Kodo does nothing I guess.

"Can we stop this insanity? We are on a strange land, and it seems in a strange time and place. Yet all seem bent on killing each other. This has to stop. Now. Or we will die by each others sword and not by those outside." she shakes her head. Peasants.

Feeling awkward to defend a Suldam, Litheene still can't keep silent. Ryvin, while I fully agree with your sentiment, light knows I have good reason to want to kill Suldam in general, and this woman personally, yet we did promise them safe passage, and they did not break their word since. The discussion about freeing Merdrith is more than welcome. Analin not part of our promise so she can do as she pleases, Litheene expression leaves no doubt that she will be glad to see the other Aes Sedai take a shot at the Seanchan, or Merdrith freed but slathering still is wrong, at least on our behalf.

I seem to recall something about diplomacy and intimidate being unusable on player characters. I think only bluff vs sense motive still works.

Litheene looks at Ryland and Fia with a sense of amused satisfaction. I speak of course only for myself. The word I personally gave, I stood by she says, shrugging, and goes on to look at the resolving scene. Snipping at the Seanchan And here you thought I am difficult to deal with. Well, Damane aren't lucky to have one Suldam either. They can change, and so can the demands, and suddenly they are being tortured for something that is a new Suldam's whim.

Being pessimistic at the prospect of Zira cooperating, Litheene is surprised to see her unleash Merdrith, and relieved that violence was avoided.

Amorial:
Great happiness.

Walking up to Merdrith she stands close in front of her, almost too close for politeness, looking her in the eyes. You are free. As you once was. I know you believe the leash is necessary for you, that you are dangerous. I know because I believed the same. But you have something I didn't, you have a memory from before, of the tower, of your real training, of your years as Aes Sedai. They are probably painful for you right now, I wish I could help you more, I only hope over time you can rekindle them. She expects anger, or defiance from the unleashed Damane, as happened before, but she doesn't back down, her look is sad. Carefully touching the broken sister's hand she adds Your friend Analin is here. And so am I, if you need any help
With that, Litheene moves aside.

Fia steps closer, her face inches from Zira's. "You heard only the wind if you thought you and I had a deal. I offered you my terms and the price for the chance for you to escape the shadow. Those terms you ignored, and pretended they were never uttered. You came anyway, and the only reason I did not stop you was the fact that we were about to be overrun. Do. Not. Speak. To. Me. About. I'm kind of expecting Tali/Merdrith to freak out the second the collar is removed...

Analin completely ignored the ogier and aiel, her focus entirely on Tali. She even passed up the chance to respond to Zira's remark about honor, instead watching Tali expectantly. "Merdrith?"

Her collar unleashed, Tali stands up straighter. her head lifts higher, her shoulders square, her chest sticking out. she looks like a soldier being inspected on the parade field. Her almond gaze looks at everyone, making sure to linger a moment upon their eyes, as if memorizing everyone. Chen was slightly surprised at his disarming. He smirked invisibly behind his steel mask.

This man is fast. Uncannily fast. Chen considered his next move. He held his hands slightly above his thighs, fingers pointing down. He was certain a warrior of Rhoekk's caliber would recall the short-swords that were spring-loaded into the undersides of his forearm armor. Bow and ax were at his back. He was quick for his size, if he could grab hold of the slippery man, or even land one solid blow, Chen was sure he could do significant damage.

Relaxing slightly as Zira interjects. He tenses again as Tali is unleashed, and foes enter Zira's personal space.

"Step back!" he commands.

Lowering his voice, he whispers for Rhoekk's ears, "How can you suffer the likes of him to live?" he asks, with a subtle glance at Jasper.

I had assumed it was obvious to Rhoekk who the target had been, which is why he had mentioned the target in his response. Hopefully that still makes sense.

Still maintaining eye contact with the massive swordsman, Rhoekk subtly tips his brow forward in a nod to his almost opponent.

"It appears that we will not get to dance today, 'Gardener'. A shame, really. Perhaps another time." His voice is even and courteous, and the last statement comes out sounding like a genuine interest.

He steps back from where his feet straddle the fallen blade on the floor. He gazes at it for a second as if considering, and then takes another step or two away from it, allowing the Ogier to reclaim it unchallenged. Were this a sparring exercise, courtesy have would dictated returning the weapon to an opponent thus disarmed, but in this case, and being an Aiel, he would never permit himself to touch a Sword.

Edit: Ninja'd.

After stepping back, Rhoekk catches the whispered question and quirks an eyebrow in response. He speaks back, softly, but not exactly as a whisper, "He, has not threatened my allies. He has not invaded a land not his own. He has dedicated himself to using every tool at his disposal to fight the Sightblinder, even knowing it will cost him his sanity to do so, and that his own companions will be forced to kill him should the madness come. He has acted with great courage. That is how. That, and by the will of the Car'a'carn, who has said that all such men may have reprieve, that they may train and fight to defeat the shadow."

"One might well ask how you can bear to serve one such as her," he gestures to Zira. "One who would not only treat her own kind as though they were chattel, but from what I have learned is no different that the woman she enslaves. If it is true that the leash holders are just as capable of wielding the one power as the one it binds, then she is worse than a hypocrite, and lacks even the lowest vestige of honour. The first makes me think of her as the lowest of the low; the second, if true, for I have not seen it with my own eyes, would liken her honour unto that of the vilest wretch, superior only to that of one who would follow her."

I stand here not to threaten your charge but to ensure that I secure the item which has created so much consternation between our groups. I have agreed to hold on to these items as I am the only one here it seems whose blood does not run hot over their existence. I am also the only one here who will not use it. Looking into the Gardener's eyes again he says, "It is very likely that this information has been long concealed from all, and so it would be unfair to judge one's prior choices, made without that knowledge. What becomes the true measure, is what a man chooses to do once he knows the truth."

Female Human Seanchan Wilder 2 / Initiate 3 / Aes Sedai 6

They do not know says Litheene, answering Rhoekk, as her eyes glance over the sword on the floor. But it is true, and I can prove it if necessary. Everyone is tested by the adam as a maratdamane first. If the adam works, you are leashed. Some of those who were not, later succeed in holding the leash. But the difference here is between those that have the "spark" as Aes Sedai call it, and those who develop their channeling abilities over time. Yet, from the long usage of the adam as a circle, Suldam eventually gain the ability to touch the One Power, some even see weaves. Because they were first tested to be Damane, and knowledge of the true nature of the Power is rare in Seanchan, it is likely that nearly none, in Seanchan today realise how the Adam actually works. The one who invented it did, however, for she was leashed by it at the end.

Intelligence: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Not sure to whom Rhoekk refers, Litheene looks over the group. With her eyes of Analin and Zira during the exchange, she didn't notice what exactly happened between Rhoekk and Chen. They were so fast ... the matter he spoke about it, did Chen aim at one of the Ashamen? He asked for permission to kill Kodukura before, and fought him Chen, I thought you already asked for permission to kill him before, have you not? I don't recall it being granted. He is not the same man with her last words her gaze meets Alathea's eyes for a split second, then she is back at her food.

Rage smolders in Chen's large eyes. He answers Litheene rote, "The one called Jasper, his mind is lost to the shadow. The signs are early, but there. This Kodukura seems sane enough for now."

Getting to the point he removes his steel filagree mask, reveal a face clenched with anger. He looks to Zira and asks, "Is what they say true? Can you and those like you feel the power? Can some see the 'weaves'?" his voice sounds hurt.

And until he gets back in one piece to the Black Tower, I will resist any attempts of killing him If my eyes follow what's going on. Thank the light for Rhoekk. "Before we get to talk of severing," Ryvin says, "maybe we should talk about soothing?"

The Ebou Dari walks over to Jasper and Kodokura, and holds out her hands. The gauntlets only slightly spoil the gesture.

"Jasper. I offered you this weave before and you accepted. As I recall, you were happy to have done so. Kodokura, you I have not offered this to before; there is a weave that soothes away some of the worst hurt caused to a man's mind by the taint. I offer it to you freely, without obligation. It is always on offer to those who look to the Light, rather than the Dark One."

Female Human Seanchan Wilder 2 / Initiate 3 / Aes Sedai 6

One of my players has just stepped away due to a new arrival in the family, limiting his amount of time for pbp.

So with him leaving, i have a slot open for a new person to come in and play.

I will post more info about character creation and background of the storyline and location of campaign, although you can learn alot by reading the first posting in the gameplay thread, will post more info at my lunch break in 2 hours.

and a bump to bring attention to this...

I'd need character creation information, if I were to join?

EDIT: I am interested, of course. But I'll have to read up on the gameplay thread and such like.

of course...time got away from me

PC build: 25 point buy

10th level characters.

Max HP.
Max Marks (gold).

anything from the netbook under the dragons banner is allowed.

The group of characters is from the current reality that takes place within the books. But, they are in an alternate universe where the Rand Al'Thor was not rescued at the of Dumai Wells. Now he resides within the white tower. The group is within Salidar for the purpose to act as liasons between the Black tower and the rebels, but things have gone awry since they arrived. The delegation from the black tower was attacked and only one has survived so far, the Whitecloaks are moving to attack Salidar from the north, and news of the Seanchan moving in from the south has just been revealed by the Amrylin.

also, the wolflord PRC has been removed. in its place are feats found within UtDB.

Here's a bare-bones wanderer / thief taker, if you're still looking for someone! I'm thinking he's a part of the eyes-and-ear network - maybe the yellow since Jasmine is yellow and from this world. I'll flesh out more as I'm able, been a busy week. Oh and this is fia.

Just wanted to drop a note here in case you're ever looking for new players. I'd love to play in a WoT game.

So, when you say "The Dragon Reborn", how literal do you want that to be...

...because I have a kobold oracle of flame who actually believes he is a reincarnated dragon that would fit that perfectly, if wanted.

as interesting as it would be to have a kobold in a wheel of time campaign, i think my players would revolt if i allowed it.
But thanks for the offer Fal.

No worries. He'll find a dominion somewhere. :P

Silver Crusade

Dot. Thinking druid. (Storm) caster focused.

just so everyone knows, this is a wheel of time campaign, not a pathfinder.

Ha. Looks like my comment bumped your thread on the Recruitment board, Rizzenmagnus. Sorry.

FWIW, I have the WoTRPG book but haven't read the netbook you referred to in your character creation guidelines.

Looking to fill a recently vacant slot in my Wheel of Time group.
If you are a fan of the series, then you may want to look into joining this group.

The group has a wide variety of classes, from aes sedia to Aiel, to an Ashaman and an Ogier blademaster from Seanchan.

Perhaps you have always wanted to play a Tuatha'an? or a wolf brother, or perhaps an Aiel that can channel? Or even a Darkfriend?

Use the Wheel of time RPG book from WOTC for character classes.

about what is going on in the campaign
The group of characters is from the current reality that takes place within the books. But, they are in an alternate universe where the Rand Al'Thor was not rescued at the of Dumai Wells. Now he resides within the white tower.
The group has just discovered an ancient ter'angreal that is a house, and within it a room that allows them to go anywhere, so long as they have physically visited the location before...

shameless bump

I'm quite interested, but would need to do a good bit of reading to build a high level character.

I used to have a pdf of the rulebook. Let me have a couple days and I'll get something up here.

ok.

Another bump

Apologies for going AWOL. I couldn't find my copy of the rules, nor an easily downloaded replacement. I read a few things I had, as well as skimming Under the Dragon's Banner. I really can't commit the time to making a suitable entry at this point. Good gaming!

What's funny is I found this thread as I took a break from reading Lord of Chaos.

I have the WoT RPG book, and I used to have the Under the Dragon's Banner netbook, although I'll have to redownload it.

I'm not 100% sure I have time for another PbP, but I am interested. I'd like to read some of your gameplay thread, as well as learn more about your game. A question:

When you say 25 point buy, do you mean the Pathfinder version or the one in the WoT rule book?

Second, can you tell me more about your campaign?

pathfinder version.

more about the campaign...hmmmmmm...

currently the setting is in the midst of book 7, a crown of swords. but the difference is that the majority of the group were taken from the main realm into a mirror world through a portal stone by a black Ajah. actually, the party was split and sent to two different mirror realms. one realm actually had Saidar tainted, and the aes sedai were all men. A combination of aes sedai and Whitecloaks. the other group was ported into a realm where the battle of dumai wells was a failure. the Asha'man didnt arrive in time, and the aiel were victorious, to an extent. they failed to capture the dragon reborn. he now resides within the white tower walls. the Shaido aiel have taken Cairhein and are moving south and east.
The group was just in the mountains, in a ter'angreal travellers house from the age of legends. within this house they discovered a room that allows them to travel to anywhere they have been in their past, so long as the location hasnt changed as much. while testing it out, the group has wondered into a trolloc encampment 100 miles south of the blight border. the blight has begun to build up within the area.
at this time, they are being attacked by a group of trollocs...

Okay. I read the first couple pages of gameplay, and it felt like the characters had an established backstory as a group.

I'll post up a character for perusal today or tomorrow. Would I be from the mirror world or from the world they are currently in? Just so I know for backstory purposes.

Yes, there are two other threads that date back to 2011 That establishes this group.

You would be from the mirror world.

Also, feel free to make whatevet you feel like, dont think you have to make a pc to fill a nitch. If you want to play a fallen aiel that has taken to the sword instead of spear, be my guest.

Backstory:

Dengorin Kaltaneos was born second son to a minor noble family in the nation of Illian. Though not as wealthy as other families, they still had sufficient coin that he had a comfortable childhood, and he was given a noble’s education, including the sword and the Old Tongue. His family primarily lived in the city, and so he was exposed to the sights and sounds of a major port city. His weapons trainer, an Ebou Dari, taught him the basics of the sword and the path of the blademaster, though he himself was not one.

Upon his 21st birthday, the Great Hunt was called. Seeking adventure and excitement, Dengorin went to the Square of Tammuz and took the Hunter’s Oath, and set forth to find the Horn of Valere. He believed that the Horn was somewhere on Almoth Plain, and so journeyed there with a small retinue to seek it. While there, Almoth Plain exploded into chaos with the advent of the Dragon Reborn. Clashing with small bands of Dragonsworn, he lost a couple of his companions before fleeing to Ghealdan for the winter. Ghealdan, once part of storied Manetheren, might surely hold the Horn of Valere. He set to seeking the Horn, and then the Prophet came and preached of the coming of the Dragon Reborn. The turmoil caused by the Prophet’s mobs caused him to lose more of his companions before making his way to Altara.

Dengorin seemed to be followed by chaos. He decided the horn could not be in the South, and so travelled to the Borderlands, to seek the Horn there. He and his companions clashed with Trollocs several times, and one by on each of his remaining companions has fallen. Now, there is only him, and he begins to wonder if he should return to Illian, where surely he will be safer, although he has failed to find the Horn.

Appearance and Personality:

Dengorin is a young Illianer in his early-mid 20’s, with brown eyes and brown hair and beard which leaves his upper lip bare. He is well-dressed, if not always in the most expensive clothes, and slightly above average in height and weight. His once jovial personality has hardened somewhat in light of the troubles he has faced, and he no longer believes Shadowspawn a myth. He has a healthy respect for Aes Sedai due to not understanding their strange power, and believes Rand al’Thor to be the true Dragon Reborn. He isn’t quite sure how the Prophecies will be fulfilled if the Dragon is in the White Tower, but he’s sure Aes Sedai have thought of that.

i like it. very interesting....

and i have the perfect way to slip you into the campaign with ease

Okay. Great. I'll get an alias set up. Do I need to change anything up crunch-wise? I noticed that you have a section titled "Perception Checks" up top that only has one roll per character.

well, i see that you are using the old school skills. i knew i was forgetting something.
i had converted all the skills from 3.0 to pathfinder a while ago.

here is the list of skill conversions:

Skill Changes:
Update old 3.0 list to Pathfinder list:
Acrobatics – old balance, jump, and tumble
Composure – Combines Concentration and WoT channeling skill Composure (change made by Rizzen)
Handle Animal – now includes Animal Empathy
Linguistics – old Decipher Script, Forgery, and Speak Language
Disable Device – includes old Open Lock
Diplomacy – includes old Gather Info
Stealth – combines old hide and move silently
Perception – combines old Search, Spot, and Listen
Survival – combines old Intuit Direction and Wilderness Lore
Sleight of Hand – combines old Pick Pocket and Use Rope

New Skill List:
Acrobatics
Appraise
Bluff
Climb
Composure
Craft
Diplomacy
Disable Device
Disguise
Escape Artist
Handle Animal
Heal
Innuendo
Intimidate
Knowledge
Linguistics
Perception
Perform
Pick Pocket
Profession
Read Lips
Ride
Sense Motive
Sleight of Hand
Stealth
Survival
Swim

i also updated the noble class as well to be more reliant with a few special abilities

noble perks:

reference the level noble and compare to level in bard for what you are eligible to take

Noble: (Dragon Reborn #1039) The resources from the UTDB will take affect over the "call in a favor" shown in the wotrpg book.

noble knowledge: as like bardic knowledge, nobles have greater access to books, and may have read a plethora of topics to help them learn to be better, or worse, nobles. THis allows nobles to make all knowledge checks untrained, and can add 1/2 his/her noble level to said checks.

Inspire Confidence: as per the bard rule but with a minor tweak. The increase in bonus applied to those listening will be +1 every 5 levels. so at level 15, the noble can apply a +4 unnamed bonus to those listening. this effect lasts as long as the noble speaks, but should he stop speaking, the effects will last the noble level+charisma modifer in rounds. The noble cannot use inspire confidence and instill fear within the same combat.

Instill fear and doubt: the reverse of the bard rule. the noble has the ability to demand attention to himself, even in the heart of combat. with this attention, he is able to cast doubt upon his opponents, making them second guess their cause. perhaps he points out the infallacy of it all, perhaps he offers money. either way, his speech saps the will of those he and his army is fighting. this ability affects up to 2x the nobles HD in creatures if they are 4HD or more less than him, if less than 3hd or up to 3HD more he affects his HD in creatures. If 4HD or more above his HD, he affects 1/2 his HD in creatures. all creatures listening are allowed a Will save DC= to noble level plus charisma modifier plus 10. The noble cannot use instill fear and instill courage in the same combat.

inspire greatness: as per the bard special ability

inspire competance: as per the bard special ability.

of special note, sword forms are a skill that anyone can learn, so long as they have proficency with a sword blade.
info can be found here: sword form skill info
you can apply up to your level in sword form skill points.

Don't forget Blade Forms, now. ;)

Okay.

Is this still using the 3.0 Skill points or Pathfinder skill points.

Use pathfinder rules for skills. i.e. max rank = your level. Class skills give a +3 bonus.

Thank you. Much appreciated.

EDIT: Pathfinder feat progression, too?

Yup. Using pathfinder versions of feats where they duplicate. For example(s), use Pathfinder's dodge, power attack, combat expertise, etc feats rather than WoT's dodge feat.

Any change to the Armsman's Bonus feat progression?

As pathfinder's fighter I believe.

Very good. This should be right, then. Rizzen, feel free to take a look.

i like it, dengorin. looks good. feel free to say hi in the discussion posting.

Had some people drop out of the group, so i have an opening or two.

Setting: Robert Jordan's wheel of Time.
Ruleset: cross between the WOTRPG book and Pathfinder.
Character creation: 25 pt buy
11th level characters.
equipment: basic mundane items are available, but magical items are incredibly rare. You will start off with a +1 ter'angreal of sorts, but anything more than that is rolled for or found.

Plot point: This is a mirror realm. The battle at Dumai Wells was an utter disaster for rescuing the Dragon Reborn. He is held captive at the WHite Tower by Eladia. for the PCs, two of their own have gone after a third that went crazy and were seperated from the main party. The main party is attempting to rescue their companions AND free the Dragon.
Right now, a Deathwatch Ogier is rampaging through the White Tower killing all who are Aes Sedai. The group has just found him, but part of the group is splitting off to rescue a trapped companion who just gave birth, and another group is moving up to find the Amyrlin, who is key to releasing the Dragon.

I'm back on the boards Rizzen! Would you be amenable to me rejoining?

Alright, so, always wanted to be in a WoTRPG. Let me dig up my book, but is there something that the group stands in need of? Got enough channelers? Need an agility based character or a frontline fighter? Anything that the party members absolutely will not tolerate?

Well, let's see. We currently have the following characters that appear to be active:

From the world of the books:
Ebou Dari wilder
Aiel Wilder / Wise One Apprentice
Borderlander Wolfbrother
Midlander Wolfbrother / blademaster
Borderlander Armsman/woodsman/blademaster
Aiel Algai / Aethen'Dor

From the mirror world:
Aes Sedai (and npc warder)
Andoran Asha'man / armsman
Ogier Deathwatch guard
Borderlander (I think?) noble / armsman.

Also, hi Jasmine!

Hi Fiallain! Good to see you! :-)

welcome Josh.

Feel free to make whatever you want to make. I dont adhere to the "we need these 4 classes to make a proper party" method commonly found in dnd/pathfinder. instead players make whatever they feel like and then they go on an adventure. It is, from my POV, more realistic in a sense.
I attempt to offer a balance of RP and combat, and encourage players to utilize skills in ways not commonly thought out.
I push the envelope with RP, from cute and cuddly to GRRMartin having sex with the movie "human centipede" and this is the result. see vampric shadowspawn that looks like a cross between slime and spaghetti
I also strive to make the PCs think, and push their preconceived philosophical boundries.introducing a PC that was a seanchan noble sul'dam. lots of drama there, still unresolved

but, most importantly, i just want you to have fun.

as for setting wise, yes we are in a mirror world. It is currently book 7, at least from the PCs POV.

oh, and Jasmine, welcome back!
After i introduce you, feel free to jump in again.

Thanks so much Rizzen!
