EDIT: Reading what I quoted again makes me remember the original Power Rangers series and Captain Planet.. good times.

And here I was just about to say that I had a bunch of spiffy colored rings right here if I needed to dole them out to certain people. "In Brightest Day" and all that.... ;P

Hmmm...... (-_-)

Nope just waiting for Mr. Death to respond :)

I'll take the blue one, if I may. I consider that one the strongest. ;)
The blue rings do give their users the strongest power - but only if in the presence of an active green ring, interestingly enough. Hope evidently requires Willpower to enact it (according to the writers anyway)...interesting stuff.
...Shutting up now. (^.^)

So I can take that level of Badass then?

Oh no, please continue. I haven't read any Lantern comics except for the old ones where he teamed up with the Green Arrow.
My questions for the writers would be: If you have no hope, where is your will to keep going come from?
I think (IMHO) their angle is that Will is the core (no pun intended) of all the other 'emotions' - it is through Will that the others are made manifest.
Or, to quote John Hammond in Jurassic Park:
"Creation is an act of sheer will." :)
Hooray for armchair psychology!! (^-^)

Which I find strange, since I've always thought it was emotions that fueled willpower. To each their own I guess.

We need something to do while waiting for Death to arrive.[/eye roll]

Interestingly enough, I took Hal Jordan's Green Lantern oath and tweaked it into a passable oath for a paladin of Lathander PC I made several years ago:
"In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight.
Let those who would spread darkness' blight,
Beware my power... Lathander's light!"
And it would work for Sarenrae too ;)

That debate can go either way, so I don't much worry about it ;D

Which is why I'm stealing it to use for my Inquisitor of Sarenrae, which at 9th level be going to the Demonweb Pits! Pure Awesome.

"I...wait, what?"
Apologies, guys, I missed this post last night and overslept my alarm this morning.
"OH DEAR. IS IT MY CONNECTION OR YOUR HEARING THAT SEEMS TO BE THE TROUBLE. WHICH PART DID YOU MISS? THE PART ABOUT THE CODE OF CONDUCT OR THE PART ABOUT BEING A REINCARNATED FORMER CHAMPION OF MINE?"
Krays
"I'm...the reincarnated bit. I get that the code will become apparent as I go along...but, reincarnated? From what? Who was I? Does it mean anything?"

"OH THAT. YES. YOU USED TO BE A BLACK DRAGON. HONESTLY, I THINK BEING A KOBOLD HAS BEEN GOOD FOR YOU. KNOCKED A LOT OF THE EXCESS PRIDE OUT AS IT WERE. TOO MUCH PRIDE IS WHAT GOT YOU KILLED THE FIRST TIME. AS FOR WHAT IT MEANS..IT MEANS THAT LIKE MANY OF MY FELLOWS I DISLIKE CHANGE AND PREFER THE FAMILIAR. THE PROBLEM WITH WORKING WITH MORTALS IS THAT THEIR LIVES ARE SO SHORT, GONE IN HALF A BLINK."
Krays
"I...well that explains why I'm such a good flier..." He says to himself
"So, the champion of Time is a dragon, I...used...to be a dragon, so do you "aspects" prefer to use dragons, then?"

Aaaah. Is understand now (-_-)
;)Also, loving the Lantern discussion here. And Krays oath. :)
Well, I had to bring some worthwhile food for thought with me to atone for my absence, neh? (^-^)

"IT'S PROBABLY STRETCHING THE RULES ON MORTAL A BIT, BUT YES, WE DO. DRAGONS LIVE LONGER THAN OTHER MORTAL RACES. ALTHOUGH ELVES WILL DO IN A PINCH."
"ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS YOU HAVE FOR ME?"
Krays
"Umm yes! I have a lot more...but I should probably get back to business."
Sighs
"H'Tor has always been a good friend of mine, even before he was raised into this current state. He...seems to be slipping a bit lately, not acting himself. He is preoccupied with visions of the afterlife, even though he's undead. I keep telling him he doesn't need to sleep, but he does anyway, and has nightmares. How can I help him?"

"AH. YES. I KNEW WE WOULD GET TO THIS EVENTUALLY. THE TRANSITION CAN BE A BIT...ROCKY WHEN ONE FIRST BECOMES A CHAMPION. A BIT MORE SO IN YOUR CASE. H'TOR...WELL, HE WAS GIVEN TO YOU TO HELP EASE THAT TRANSITION. TO PROTECT YOU AND HELP YOU FIND YOUR WAY. BUT NOW YOU HAVE FOUND A NEW CLAN AND YOU ARE BEGINNING TO MASTER YOUR ABILITIES AS MY CHAMPION. YOU DO NOT NEED A BODYGUARD ANY LONGER. AND THUS, H'TOR IS BEGINNING TO SLIP AWAY. HE WISHES TO KNOW ABOUT THE AFTERLIFE BECAUSE HE CAN SENSE THAT HE WILL BE GOING THERE SOON. I AM AFRAID THAT I CANNOT ANSWER HIS QUESTIONS. I AM DEATH. I AM FINAL. I DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING OF WHAT COMES AFTER. FROM MY PERSPECTIVE, THERE IS NOT AFTER."
Krays
"He's...no..."
He turns to look back up the stirs in H'Tor's direction.
"Can't you extend it?! He saved me when no one else will...I..."
Slumps in the chair, shaking his head
"Does...he know? How long?"
narrator
"HE HAS ALWAYS KNOWN. IT IS SIMPLY HIS TIME, KRAYS. HE WAS A GOOD, BRAVE BEING. THIS WILL PROBABLY WEIGH HEAVILY IN HIS FAVOR IN ANY SORT OF AFTERLIFE. YOU CAN AT LEAST REASSURE HIM ON THAT COUNT. AS FOR HOW LONG....SOON. VERY SOON. YOU WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO SAY GOODBYE FIRST. I AM TOLD THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO MORTALS."
Krays
"Thanks for that, at least..."
Steadies himself
"There is also the matter of Whoops. She was formerly a member of the faculty here. During a...well lets jsut say H'Tor was exploring his greater shadow form and accidentaly turned her into a shadow. I'd like to make this right, as she was enthralled at the time and did not deserve this fate. I do not wish to simply end her existence for convenience sake if it can be reversed...also with H'Tor fading out...he seems to be losing his control over her and I can't keep her from feeding indefinately..."
Krays
"Very well. I will take care of it, then. One final question, am I to be your champion till you find someone more longer lived, or are you going to...'fix' me? Also, is ther a chance to reincarnate H'Tor?"
narrator
"NOW THAT YOU HAVE RETURNED TO YOUR POST AS CHAMPION YOU WILL BEGIN TO RETURN TO YOURSELF. YOU WILL HAVE THE MEMORIES AND PERSONALITY OF THIS LIFETIME FIRST AND FOREMOST, BUT YOU WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE ABILITIES OF YOUR LAST LIFETIME. INCLUDING THE LONGER LIFESPAN. AS FOR REINCARNATING H'TOR, THAT DEPENDS ON HIS SPIRIT. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT REINCARNATION IS SOMETHING THAT ONLY HAPPENS FOR A SPIRIT THAT HAS UNFINISHED BUSINESS IN THE MORTAL WORLD THEY CANNOT OR WILL NOT LET GO OF. SO I SUPPOSE THAT IT IS ENTIRELY UP TO HIM."
Krays
"Wow...that'll take some getting used too. I never thought, I'd actually be a dragon someday..."
Stands up and bows to the image in the mirror.
"Thank you for meeting with me face to face. Even though some of the news wasn't pleseant, I know plenty of clerics who would be greatly envious of the face time. Will I be able to reach you here at any time? Or only when summoned? Do I call you 'Death' or what do you prefer your champions to call you?"
narrator
"IT IS FORTUNATE FOR YOU THAT YOU ARE NOT A CLERIC THEN," Death said, with a hollow chuckle. "I AM ALWAYS HERE SHOULD YOU HAVE NEED OF ME. BUT YOU DO NOT NEED TO TRAVEL ALL THE WAY TO THE GRAVEYARD. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO ENTER THIS PLACE WITHOUT TRAVEL ANY TIME YOU NEED. DEATH IS EVERYWHERE AND SO THIS PLACE CONNECTS TO EVERYWHERE. IF THERE IS NEED OF YOUR SERVICES YOU WILL BE SUMMONED. AND YES, DEATH IS WHAT YOU SHOULD CALL ME. IT IS WHAT I AM. I HAVE NO OTHER NAME."
Krays
"Then Death it is. Thank you, Death, for everything you've done on my behalf."
Sighs
"Now I must release someone and say good bye to an old friend."
He'll head up either by stair or just willing himself to not be "there" any longer. When he appears, he will cast searing light immediately on Whoops. Minimum damage should "release" her...
Then he will turn to H'Tor and say "We need to talk, buddy."
He'll look at Ephebe and say... "I...uhh...just...wow...I don't even know where to begin. The meeting went great, overall. Thank you so much for talking me through getting here, to this point."
We'll need to figure out what/how much dragon he gets when :) it'll be odd when Ephebe picks up the dragon vibe
Ephebe
"No problem, Krays. That's what friends are for. Besides, you're more like family anyways." ^.^
"I take it you decided to release Whoops...er, maybe I should wait by the bike for now? It looks like you two have some talking to do....that is...ummm.....right, well....I'll just be over there when you need me."
Krays

"Yeah there was nothign else that could be done for her."
He halfsmiles"Family indeed. We're more alike than you realize..." He says, his gaze drifting off a bit....
"But we can talk about that later. You don't have to wait if you don't want to, I can teleport back to the school, or invis and fly back...this might take a while."
Krays
"Thanks Ephebe..."
He will turn and take H'Tor and wander in sight but out of hearing. You'll see them talking, laughing and Krays crying...then them embrace, just as H'Tor fades away, waving to Krays, leaving only his breastplate, cloak and sword behind. Krays unashamedly weeps openly for a bit then collects whats left of H'Tor and walks back to Ephebe, tears still bright in his eyes...
"He...had to go..." and he collapses weeping again..
Sorry for the shortness...I was actually tearing up a bit writing this...if you want to change any of this, that's ok

Then you probably didn't want to give everyone in Agartha your preschool picture(I got that one from your mom, she's nice and she wants you to visit more often), or the 1970's DEATH and Gravedigger Action Figures you distributed so people wouldn't be as scared of you? My bad.
Krays
He just nods and lets it all out...after a bit he sits up and wipes away his tears, and looks over to the cloak, sword and breastplate.
"I dunno what I'm gonna do with that stuff...maybe hang it up? It's too big for me to use...maybe Death will take it back, too. This sucks." He looks like he's about to cry again, then just shakes it off. "This is behavior unbecomming a dragon..."

"Huh?" she says, confused. "I mean...you've seen me cry often enough right?"
"If you want to keep H'Tor's stuff, like maybe set it up in your room or something, you know, to remember him by, I think I have enough bungee cord to strap it onto the bike..."
Krays
He laughs "That's true."
"Yeah I'd like to keep it, until Death finds a better use for it..."
Looks at Ephebe
"Before we go, I think you should know that I'm a dragon, too. It turns out I'm the reincarnation of a former champion, who was a black dragon. Death has restored some of that back to me. I already...feel...different. Not in outlook, mind you, I guess I used to be one arrogant SOB. So, I may need some draconic guidance from you guys now and then...I'm supposed to remember stuff from my old life as I progress as a champion, but I'm still me. I need you to understand that, no matter what happens, I'm still me."
Ephebe
[blink, blink]
"Wow, that's quite a promotion for you, huh?" ^.^
"In all seriousness, if anyone can understand that, it's me. You're not like the dragons I've watched in the Pool of Reflection. The quarrel between my people and theirs...well, it's sort of about politics and sort of about basic compassion. We believe there's no such thing as a 'lesser' race. They don't. Whatever you used to be like, the Krays I know would never use people as tools just because he could. So there's not really any conflict there. I'm not going to judge you based solely on the color of your scales, okay?"
