Round 5
Nathaniel covers a sigh of irritation, "Damn, provoking's hard..." and steps forward to lay into the giant threatening Abigail. His blade bites deep into the giant's back twice, and his claws also strike, though they are unable to pierce the giant's hide.
Kenan makes a small step away from the giant in front of him and then concentrates on the giant fighting against Barek. The arrows thudding into its back are enough to kill the fiend. He topples forward onto his knees, and then face, lying still in the sandy dirt.
Having been counting her shots as she fired, Liette knew she was getting low on loaded ammunition. Spinning Valor around in one hand, the gunslinging paladin swiftly holsters the firearm while training Justice's sights down on the closest giant. Squinting, Liette tries to train her sights as precisely as possible, waiting for just the right moment to-- BLAM
The round strikes the giant dead-center of his chest, sending him staggering back from shot.
Viorel decides a different approuch now that they seem to have grasped control of the battle. He takes few quick steps to his right and casts a spell, causing the giant next to the archers fall down in a fit of hysterical laughter. "LEAVE THAT ONE ALIVE IF YOU CAN!" The mage yells at the top of his lungs, hoping for a chance to get some answers out of a survivor.
"Viorel, you're a genius." Crissor calls up to the sorcerer as the giant falls down by the gnoll's feet laughing. He almost laughs himself just at the absurdity of it but the turns his attention to getting the other giant off Abigail. He draws his arrows and fires them at that giant. All of them find new homes in the giant's flesh, burning with holy energy. The assault sends the giant from looking relatively healthy, to severly injured. The four glowing, crackiling shafts periodically light up the giant's rib cage through his skin as they cook him from the inside. He brings one dark skinned arm down with a roar, snapping the shafts off an inch from where they protrude from his chest.
"કુલ તમારી માતા તેમના આનંદ માટે એન્જલ્સ ના **** ચાટવું માટે પ્રેમ કેવી રીતે વિશે કંઈક જણાવ્યું હતું કે," Barek says as he runs over to the last standing giant. The giant whips his scimitar sideways, giving Barek a long gash across his belly as the barbarian approaches. Barek brings his blade down onto its knee, and chops its left kneecap clean off, along with splintering its shin bone like a length of dry firewood. As it's hot blood splatters up onto Barek's face, the giant howls in pain.
Abigail, bleeding profusely and near fainting, very slowly and carefully retreats with Sacha, letting Nathaniel fight the giant for now.
Sigmund lays on the ground in a rapidly expanding pool of his own blood. His heart flutters as it begins to struggle to beat.
The last remaining giant, knowing he is doomed, spins around wildly, slashing out at everything around him. He is like a fifteen foot tall whirling dust devil of blades. He lands blows on both Barek and Sacha, while his other wild strikes are deflected by Nathaniel and Abigail.

Round 6, Go! He's got 13 HP left. Who's gonna get the kill?
When someone kills him, combat will be over. Take 5000 XP and level up to level 9. Then tell me what you're doing with the prisoner, and who is healing Sigmund.
PS: Now that you've got access to 5th level spells AND hero points, the kid's gloves really come off. Next time something like this happens, that giant would be coup-degracing Sigmund instead of wasting his turn throwing attacks at everyone. Might want to buy some 5000 GP diamonds next time you're in Clydwell/Kenabres.
Nathaniel.

Sword 1 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26 2d6 + 22 ⇒ (4, 6) + 22 = 32
Cleaving into his neck, the final giant drops to the ground. Nathaniel lowers his blade with a sigh of relief and grins. "Phew... I was getting worried there for a minute!" Then he stops cold, and spots him. "Sigmund...."
| Abigail Garrett |
"I got him! Erastil, grant me the power to save him from imminent death!" says Abigail as she jumps off her saddle and puts a healing hand on Sigmund to simply bring him back.

Yai level 9! Lots of STUFF!
| Viorel Ariaza |
Viorel let's out a sigh of relief. He then pulls out a rope out of his back pack and throws is down the cliff. "Tie up the prisoner, the spell is not secure. I want to see what information can be gotten out of him, does anyone else than myself and Barek speak Abyssal?. Oh and Nathaniel a ride back down would be appriciated." As he notices Sigmund reviving because of Abigails spell he would call out. "Not your time to meet your boss yet." He smiles. Second close call, we might need to start changing tactics but how...
Pretty sure I asked this previously but could not find it. Spells/day won't replenish untill rest, but how about spells known? Will post actual leveling changes in discussion after editing the profile.
Nathaniel.
|
Nathaniel echoes Viorel's sigh of relief and grins, shading his eyes as he stares up at Viorel. "Why I almost forgot about you fellows, far away up there! A close thing; what would we do without Liette!" Whimsical in victory, Nathaniel sprints straight for the cliff at a full run and walks straight up the vertical incline, though close observers notice the cliff never actually touches his massive taloned feet. "We'll have you down in an instant!"
| Liette d'Argent |
"Is everyone alright!?" Liette shouts down from the top of the cliff, pausing after the hollar to take a moment to survey her surroundings, viewing the terrain from the clifftop elevation.

To the south, at the very edges of her vision, Liette can see the swamp. The terrain here is relatively flat, though over the miles it does slope slightly upward as she looks further north. Ahead of her basically as far as she can see stretches desert, broken only by dunes and other buttes of sandstone and red colored rock. Far far to the north, what must be thirty or fourty miles away on the horizon she can see a smudge that must be the Crown of the World.

Once the immediate wounds have been tended to, he prepares to inspect the remaining wounds on his allies to prioritize further healing. He conjures a brief downpour to wash the blood and dust from himself, and dries his hands and face with his worn napkin. He folds it carefully, reverently, ritually, when he notices something that stops him in his tracks. The half-folded cloth slips from his grasp and falls, turning over slowly as it glides to the ground. Sigmund is frozen in place, his gaze locked on his scarred palms.
"They ... they've stopped," he mutters in disbelief. He rubs the scars vigorously with his fingers, and brings them close to his face, but finds no trace of the red rivulets that have wept from them for the past year. His eyes dart back and forth as his mind races for an explanation.
He looks up at the sky and says, "I am forgiven." He draws in a deep breath and repeats himself, yelling joyously, "I AM FORGIVEN!". The sound echoes off the nearby cliff, and he looks around, meeting the gaze of his companions, who's attention he's undoubtedly attracted. He grins foolishly, but the spark of delight lingers in his eyes."All right, all right. Quit looking at me like that. I haven't got mad, I swear. It's just ... I'm just .. everything is going to be OK." He bends to retrieve the napkin, finishes folding it, and puts it away. "Now then, let me see those cuts."
| Crissor Salem |
Crissor smiles at the sight. "Well I for one am just glad your not on the other side Sigmund." he clasped the cleric on the shoulder after Sigmund worked his curatives. "Good fight all in all." He then turned to the giant. "I guess me and Barek can do the trussing up of the turkey." he remarked as he took Viorel's rope to bind the giant.
| Abigail Garrett |
Abigail smiles and nods at Sigmund, obviously sharing with him a sense of the holy that is hard to describe or transfer.
She turns her attention to the bound giant: "What do we want to know? This time, they seemed better organized and ready for us... I don't speak his language, but it's a great opportunity for it."
Nathaniel.
|
Picking up Viorel and Liette carefully, he lifts them down the cliff with him. Landing, Nathaniel's expression grows serious as he studies the captive. "How long until he wakes up? Before he does, we need to settle this. Is this an evil man-woman-and-child-eating creature who'll return to man-woman-and-child-and-adventurer-eating should we turn him free, to say nothing of the damage he could do if any more of his friends came looking for us? If so, the blade may best for him- or at least for all of us, and those in the Worldwound and its outskirts."
| Kenan Borjigon |
@Sigmund Kenan wasn't injured
Thanks, im fine.
I have only this silk rope to bind him. Has anyone something better?
If not, Kenan binds the giant with his silk rope.
Escape Artist DC 32
| Liette d'Argent |
Dusting herself off and offering nod to Sigmund as she tries her hardest not to stare at his jubilation, Liette rather belatedly comes to realize what Nathaniel is talking about. Proceeding to reload her revolvers, Liette looks down to the demon and shakes her head slowly.
"If we're going to execute him, get it done." Her words are tersely spoken, and get progressively more terse as she outlines options. "If we're going to release him, release him. If we're going to question him, restrain him." But then, with a twitch of her brows she adds, "But whatever we do, we will do it humanely. He is a sentient being, regardless of bloodline, and we are better than animals."
Nathaniel.
|
Nathaniel raises a hand. "I'm half elf; is it humane to sever the tendons in his legs so he doesn't escape? Or does 'humane' extend to severing the entire leg? We could treat him 'elvenly' but I'm not sure putting a garland of flowers around his neck and then writing a poem about it would be useful." He gives a small smile. "Apologies if I seem somewhat cold-hearted, but... he's a big evil giant and the road here was very, very hard."
| Liette d'Argent |
With her revolvers loaded and holstered, Liette approaches Nathaniel and rests a hand on his shoulder. "All the more reason to approach it with dignity and humanity, even if he would not offer the same to us. After all, while full-fledged demons are expressions of mankind's rage and destructive nature, this being isn't."
Looking down to the giant, Liette's head shakes. "There's a fire of righteousness in even the coldest embers, it just has to be given an opportunity to burn." But, with a furrow of her brows she adds, "I'm not advocating we do that now, but... dismemberment and disfiguration?"
Liette shakes her head, "That is never acceptable when alternatives exist."
Nathaniel.
|
Nathaniel nods thoughtfully. "Show them a higher standard, and always believe they are willing to learn. Interesting." Reaching into his backpack, Nathaniel pulls out fifty feet of silk rope and, in addition to Kenan's bindings, lashes it between the giant's left foot and Nathaniel's right hand, wrapping it around his wrist as he holds it tightly.
| Viorel Ariaza |
Viorel walks to the group. "The spell won't last even a minute. You win wars by being smart and no mistake we are at war. The reason why I want to question the giant is because they hunted us. That means they are organized. That basically means they are a threat and possibly a major one at that. Either way my intention is to turn him against his own people. I am not willing to use torture or allow it to happen, but he does not know what I am willing to or capable of doing and I am better at lying than most. And most likely let him go, long term benefit outweigh the negative. That is simply because of scrying, because we will strip him of weapons he will have no option other than go back to his people we will get very valuable information, a best spy is one that does not know they are one. I dare to assume that we would want to deal with the threat they form as a whole." He explains his views.

Damn it Nathaniel one minute ninja. Now I gotta do this again.
As the Giant starts to try get free Viorel raises his voice. "તમે રહેતા માંગો, તો સંઘર્ષ રોકો. The giant continues to struggle while Viorel talks, and then as he finishes the giant lets off a great bellowing belly laugh before saying, "તમે કૃમિ ચાલશે તો મને મારી નાંખે છે. The chanted phrase quickly becomes a mantra, as the giant rocks back and forth flexing his huge corded muscles against the rope. His abyssal words fill the canyon, echoing back on themselves until it sounds like the group is surrounded by worshiping demons. The giant's glassy yellow eyes are turned upward, focused towards the third eye scarred in his own forehead as he chants. He shows no sign of stopping either the chanting or attempting to burst the bonds.

Nathaniel gives a toothy smile and sheathes his blade. Unwinding the rope from his hand, he speaks "Hold him for just a little longer." Turning, he walks away behind Sasha, out of sight of the prone giant. Removing his hat, he taps his chest and his dinosaur form vanishes, reappearing as his thin and spindly true self.
Walking back, Nathaniel smiles widely and speaks "Translate my words if you would, Viorel. I worship Baphoment, lover of Lamashtu. By surviving the attack of my vassals, you have proven yourself worthy of carrying the information Lamashtu wishes given to me. Serve Lamashtu, fellow monster- talk with me."

That done, Nathaniel lowers his hands to just out of the creature's sight and begins making gestures as he mutters a few spells, being sure to add 'Lamashtu' occasionally.

Half-elf. No drow.
Nathaniel smiles and turns his head to the party "He knows that I am his ally now, we can let him go." Making certain that the giant won't see, he winks. Turning back, he undoes the giant's bindings. "These worms serve me for money, and the greater honor of serving with me. I let them bind you as it would not serve great Lamashtu if you cunningly slew us all without your information being passed. Now; name yourself, and tell me of your doings in this beautiful place."

The giant says, standing up and working the kinks from his wrists.
| Viorel Ariaza |
"Religious fanatic AND an idiot, I may have made a mistake when thinking we were dealing with sentient being. He says you two need to kill us and seems to failing to understand I am translating." The tone suggested that he was growing weary with the giant. After finishing with the full translation he continued. "Make up a lie about needing us for some task for the deity or something of the sort. Location where you can get in touch with them would be good, but just getting the thing leave would be enough of advantage."
| DM Jelani |
Just so you know, letting everyone except Nathaniel go or in any way not killing them falls under the "something he wouldn't normally do" category and will require an opposed charisma check.
"ઝડપથી, હવે નાસ્તિક મૃત્યુ પામે છે જ જોઈએ. તો પછી તમે પણ તેમને ચૂકવવા પડશે. તેઓ ગયા છે ત્યારે અમે અન્ય બિઝનેસ વાત કરી શકો છો. તમે હવે તમે મને છે કે ભાડે સ્નાયુ માટે આ બોલ પર કોઈ વધુ જરુર પડે છે."

Nathaniel stares at the giant and growls, stepping forward. "Be silent, fool. I am Nathaniel, the Madson, servant of Baphomet. You and your group have fallen to these, my chosen servants. Why would I seek the services of a giant who fell so quickly? You fail the Mother with your haste! You disgrace her! Now be silent and listen well. You survived our hand, and I see from that that the Mother still has a plan for you, that you still have some strength and the potential to become the Mother's right-hand. But before your glorious destiny can arise, before your vow to the Mother can be complete, you will be silent and answer my questions and give me the RESPECT I DESERVE. Or I swear I will cut off your legs and hands and leave you to hobble your way back to your brothers and tell them of your failure. Now. How did your brothers know of us? We slew all of the first party."
Charisma check if necessary.1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
| DM Jelani |
This charm makes a humanoid creature regard you as its trusted friend and ally (treat the target's attitude as friendly). If the creature is currently being threatened or attacked by you or your allies, however, it receives a +5 bonus on its saving throw.
The spell does not enable you to control the charmed person as if it were an automaton, but it perceives your words and actions in the most favorable way. You can try to give the subject orders, but you must win an opposed Charisma check to convince it to do anything it wouldn't ordinarily do. (Retries are not allowed.) An affected creature never obeys suicidal or obviously harmful orders, but it might be convinced that something very dangerous is worth doing. Any act by you or your apparent allies that threatens the charmed person breaks the spell. You must speak the person's language to communicate your commands, or else be good at pantomiming.
Nathaniel stares at the giant and growls, stepping forward. "Be silent, fool. I am Nathaniel, the Madson, servant of Baphomet. You and your group have fallen to these, my chosen servants. Viorel take 10 on Knowledge (Arcana) = He knows that translating that will break the spell. Do you translate Viorel?
Even without a translation, Nathaniel's body language is getting pretty threatening. Go much further down that path and the spell is going to break.
Nathaniel.
|
Hmm. Against it, I'd argue that firstly it's a conditional threat, and secondly he's an evil giant so he's used to hyperbole, threats and such bravado. I'd argue that he'd see such threats as a means of asserting dominance/status rather than an indication of imminent harm. But up to you.
| DM Jelani |
You have to treat him like a friend. He believes you are his friend, not his master. What kind of friend threatens to cut your extremities off? The spell also only makes him friendly towards Nathaniel, not the others. He still wants to kill them, obviously. He will attempt to do so with or without his swords soon. If you can think of a non-threatening way to convince him, and beat him in an opposed check it would work.
| Viorel Ariaza |
"From the fight earlier when you tried to trash talk. Also pretty sure the fool would have knocked my jaw around for calling him a religious fanatic." He explains then Nathaniel makes the threath. Seeing this causes the giant to become uneasy and the fact that he knows that statement translated will brake the spell he decides to improvise. "એક વિકલ્પ છે, તમે મને અહીં મને લાવ્યા છે કે અમુક ચોક્કસ ધાર્મિક, બલિદાન માટે તેમને જરૂર જુઓ. અને તેટલી હું ન કરી શકે મારી બાજુ પર એક શકિતશાળી યોદ્ધા તમને ગમશે તરીકે. તમે અન્યત્ર જરૂર છે." Viorel then turns to Nathaniel."You cannot threaten him or the spell brakes, don't worry I changed your statement I will explain further in next translation."
Meaning that Viorel will hide the translation of his own statement as he translates the giants reply.
| Liette d'Argent |
Having been listening to the interrogation, Liette leans in next to Viorel and whispers into his ear. "He might be able to lead us back to the rest of them. We could follow him, scout out their fortifications and maybe even plan an attack if we think we can best them..." Looking down to the giant, Liette steps back slowly and rests her hands on her hips, fascinated by the way the spell is working.
