Ref Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
"You worthless piece of trash. Laugh it up while you can. You won't be laughing in a few moments."
Valeros advances on Tygora, drawing both swords.

GM Aldizog
Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 4) = 10
Valeros takes another 5 damage from the trap as he moves off of it.
That Reflex save was for half.
Pathfinder Save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
The Pathfinder prisoner continues to burn. Now at -14 and almost unconscious.
Tygora Cinderfury does not yet have her sword drawn, but lashes out at Valeros with a mighty swing as he closes for battle.
She has Combat Reflexes.
Slam AOO: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29
Damage with Heat: 1d8 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 6 + (4) = 16
Valeros now at -25, so 49/74.
But his sword lands a mighty blow.
Tygora at -22.
Merisiel triggers another fire trap!
Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 1) = 11
Merisiel does not have Trap Spotter, which is annoying.
Merisiel Reflex, Trap Sense, Heroism: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 11 + 2 + 2 = 24
Merisiel is very quick and takes no damage.
The Oread Councilor Glaheri, however...
Glaheri Reflex: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
...is badly burned. Glaheri at -11.
This trap too will continue to burn.
James and Morka are up!

"Here we go again! Remember Merisiel! You're a HERO!" Morka shouts from behind the room, as he begins to encourage his team from a distance.

He walks calmly into the room.
GM Aldizog
The Fire Mephit breathes a cone of flame, catching Valeros, James, and the captive Pathfinder.
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Valeros Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
James Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Pathfinder Reflex: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
The Pathfinder screams, passes out, and looks to be in very bad shape.
Recharge: 1d4 ⇒ 3
The fire mephit then flies to the side of the room. It is about 10' up.
Having taken a significant hit from Valeros's sword, Tygora Cinderfury withdraws up and away. (She is 20' up.)
Now with some distance, the Efreeti casts a Quickened Scorching Ray on Valeros. Three rays of fire streak from her hand and into the warrior.
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 6, 4) = 17
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 4, 3) = 15
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 6) = 14
Valeros is hit hard. By my math, he is at 0/74. 4 from the trap, 5 from the second round of the trap, 16 from the slam AOO, 3 from the breath weapon, and 46 from the Quickened Scorching Ray.
Round 1
Fethril
James -6
Valeros -74 (Disabled)
Merisiel
Morka
Mephit
Tygora -22
Deluge
Pathfinders (1 at -17 and unconscious, Glaheri at -11)
@All - it may be worth noting that the alchemist whose shop you saved did give you a potion of Resist Fire.
Valeros, Level 7 Pregen!
Ah ok. Got it. Thanks! I wonder though: due to her high-backed throne, could she withdraw without an AoO? The square you start out in is not considered threatened, but if she had to go straight up on to the right due to the throne, that second square could yield an AoO for James perhaps? (he's got reach) I'm sure Valeros' low roll won't do, but maybe James?
Deluge-Core

Screw the prisoners, Deluge pulls out his wand of resist fire and gives James a tap.

Fethril moves forward to heal the nearly fallen warrior. "Remember, the job of a warrior is NOT to die for his cause. It's to make the other one die for his."
Wand of CLW vs Valeros: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Ugh!
GM Aldizog
@Deluge - what is the CL on that wand? Even Resist 10 makes a huge difference against the Efreeti's Scorching Ray.
@All - since you did not decide who has the potion of Resist Fire, it is first-come first-served.
Pathfinders (and Glaheri) are up.
Glaheri's trap having been triggered by Merisiel, the Oread tries to wriggle off of it.
Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1) = 12
Reflex: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Unfortunately, the flames are too intense and the Oread passes out.
The Pathfinder who is already unconscious...
Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 5) = 12
... is no more.
The remaining two stay as still as they can, trying not to trigger the traps that they are no doubt on top of.
Fethril heals Valeros a bit.
Round 2 - Bless, Inspire Courage +2
Fethril

Valeros -72
Merisiel

Valeros flies out of the room, overwhelmed by his burns.

Deluge-Core

@Deluge - what is the CL on that wand? Even Resist 10 makes a huge difference against the Efreeti's Scorching Ray.
3rd level. Nothing special.
@James
You should not drink the potion of Resist fire. I cast Resist fire on you already. Let someone else quaff the potion.
GM Aldizog
Yes James, you might have missed that Deluge used his wand on you, which provides the same effect. You can re-do your turn and someone else can speak up and have the potion of Resist Fire.
Merisiel is able to guess where the other traps might be and drag the Oread councilor back towards the door without triggering any more.
James can redo his turn and Morka can act.
Morka Tuxx
|
Morka takes a shot at the Mephit.
Shortbow+Bless+Performance: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 9 + 2 + 1 = 23

Deluge-Core
|
I'll change my action and cast on Morka instead in the interest of moving things along. I moved Deluge next to Morka instead of James.
GM Aldizog
Works for me.
The Fire Mephit would like to retaliate at Morka, but the druid is in the way.
It hurls a Scorching Ray at Deluge, then moves behind the throne.
Since I established the throne does not completely block movement, I will also say it does not provide Total Cover. Just plain Cover.
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 3) = 13
Tygora Cinderfury hurls a Quickened Scorching Ray at James, before calling a Wall of Fire into existence across the south of the room.
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 3, 6) = 20
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 2) = 10
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 6, 2) = 11
The potion protects James, and he takes a mere 11 damage from the 3 rays.
A shimmering curtain of flames blocks your escape (and blocks Valeros's return), radiating immense heat.
The Wall of Fire deals 1d4 ⇒ 1 damage to Glaheri and James. James resists it all.
It deals 2d4 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5 damage to Morka, Deluge, and Merisiel. Morka resists it all.
The radiating flames will deal damage again on Tygora's next turn; individuals passing through the wall will take 2d6+11 fire damage on their own turns.
Sections of the wall can be destroyed by cold damage.

No. Two traps have not been triggered and still have Pathfinders on them. Both of whom are at 16 HP.
Two traps were triggered. Glaheri was on one but was pulled away by Merisiel. The other had a Pathfinder who is now quite dead.

He then lifts the nearest hostage. Hoping I can get him clear of the trap as a move action, but totally understand if that is not a thing.
Merisiel the Pregen
Meri tells the pathfinder still on the trap.

She then sets about trying to disarm the trap.

dagger toss: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 10 - 2 = 151d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
GM Aldizog
@Merisiel, attempting a Disable Device check takes 2d4 rounds. You could try it if you wanted. Otherwise, you can make your dagger throw. For future turns, keep in mind that readying ranged attacks to interrupt the Efreti's SLAs is potentially a very strong option.
@Fethril:
Once armed, the panel responds to any significant movement such as a Tiny or larger creature moving onto, off of, or around on the area. Triggering the trap causes flames to ignite and flare up around the panel, scorching anything on top and continuing to burn for an additional 2 rounds.
Getting the Pathfinder off the trap should still trigger it. Now, "move a heavy object" is listed as a move action, even though the Reposition combat maneuver would be a standard. I suppose with some cooperation from the Pathfinder it can be a move. I will give him a +2 on his Reflex save to represent you pulling him off the trap.
Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 3) = 14
Reflex: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 9 + 2 = 19
The trap ignites, and the Pathfinder is burned, but escapes the worst of it.
I don't know if you want to put him north or south of you, Fethril. South of you he is within 20' of the Wall of Fire. North of you and he is closer to the enemy. Your call. Pathfinder is at 9 HP now.
James, Morka, and Valeros are up.

Tygora Cinderfury unleashes her wrath at Morka. A Quickened Scorching Ray followed by a regular Scorching Ray, hoping to overpower his meager fire resistance.

@James, everything I have seen suggests to keep using the "squares" system for 3D, only making it "cubes." So normally you could attack a foe who is 5' off the ground but not one 10' up. And Enlarged, you could attack one who is 10' or 15' up but not 20'. I would let you make a leaping attack with a DC 10 Acrobatics check to hit her. Your attack this round would miss her AC however.
