Lupi Rhatwell |
"Whoa, wait there. A gas ball? I need more information, Niulamayu!" Lupi asks, squatting into the mud and immersing herself partially in it.
"What is this creature, and why would it want to scare us?"
Kenith moves to rinse his feet off, eyeing his armor.
Pharysene seems to hinge on the cloud's every word.
Tuich |
Fajra's exclamation just barely reaches her, but Tuich manages to hear it and skids to a halt. She looks back at her for a long moment, then begins walking back.
"Sorry," she mutters when she's within earshot. "Been jumpy ever since those scratches on the porch last night, I guess."
Max Smithson |
"What the..what? What do you see Farja?"
Tuich |
Fajra Todd |
Finally Fajra has remembered how to work the eye and talk as well.
"Also they all are on some weird pond pool river thing."
Max Smithson |
"So you can't tell if the other human sized thing is friend or foe. Good to know about the Gryphs. Hit them hard and fast and I wonder if they taste like chicken?
Fajra Todd |
I'm not worried. I pick weird names on purpose. I'm used to no one saying or spelling my names right. :-)
Xarl |
Xarl follows behind the others pulling out his blade.
"If these creatures lay their eggs in others then we should go help."
Fajra Todd |
Max Smithson |
"I think you've seen all we can. We might as well investigate. Not much we can do through your eye anyway. Xarl you want to lead us out or want me to?"
Xarl |
"I will lead since you prefer the bow. Those of you not antiquated with melee stay back so that I might take their first charge."
Tuich |
Dropping two of them into her pocket, she loads the third into her sling. "Ready. Let's go."
Eliah Daring |
wis: 1d20 ⇒ 5
"Oh thanks the gods!" Eliah rushes out of the forest towards the cabin, waving her hand in the air. "Hello! Hello there!" She shouts. "We've been lost in the forest for two days. Please, can you tell me where we are??" She continues to hustle in the direction of the woman unless something else happens.
Fajra Todd |
Madame DM Please let 'us' know if my following action is not permitted.
"Wait guys don't go just yet. I have a couple spells I would like to cast on all of you. One will protect you from evil and I can cast it on everyone. The second gives you the strength of a bull and technically speaking I can cast that on everyone as well but it does magic users like myself a fat lot of good."
This spell wards a creature from attacks by evil creatures, from mental control, and from summoned creatures. It creates a magical barrier around the subject at a distance of 1 foot. The barrier moves with the subject and has three major effects.
First, the subject gains a +2 deflection bonus to AC and a +2 resistance bonus on saves. Both these bonuses apply against attacks made or effects created by evil creatures.
Second, the subject immediately receives another saving throw (if one was allowed to begin with) against any spells or effects that possess or exercise mental control over the creature (including enchantment [charm] effects and enchantment [compulsion] effects, such as charm person, command, and dominate person). This saving throw is made with a +2 morale bonus, using the same DC as the original effect. If successful, such effects are suppressed for the duration of this spell. The effects resume when the duration of this spell expires. While under the effects of this spell, the target is immune to any new attempts to possess or exercise mental control over the target. This spell does not expel a controlling life force (such as a ghost or spellcaster using magic jar), but it does prevent them from controlling the target. This second effect only functions against spells and effects created by evil creatures or objects, subject to GM discretion.
Third, the spell prevents bodily contact by evil summoned creatures. This causes the natural weapon attacks of such creatures to fail and the creatures to recoil if such attacks require touching the warded creature. Summoned creatures that are not evil are immune to this effect. The protection against contact by summoned creatures ends if the warded creature makes an attack against or tries to force the barrier against the blocked creature. Spell Resistance can allow a creature to overcome this protection and touch the warded creature.
I would probably only cast this on Max and Xarl but I can cast this level spell 7 times so if it can benefit Tuich her too. It will last on each of you 10 minutes.
The subject becomes stronger. The spell grants a +4 enhancement bonus to Strength, adding the usual benefits to melee attack rolls, melee damage rolls, and other uses of the Strength modifier.
Sorry couldn't figure out how to do a spoiler within a spoiler so the bottom two are descriptions of spells I am trying to cast. DEFENSIVELY!
Tuich |
To the best of my knowledge spoilers can't be nested. Save your power on the Bull's Strength with Tuich, she's a Weapon Finesser plus is too much of a melee lightweight anyway.
Max Smithson |
May save you a spell slot, if I am the only one who would benefit, if there's another spell you can cast in it's place, might be better. Not sure what your spells known list looks like for that spell level.
The Elusive Trout |
The addressed woman has her head peer upwards and incline in the direction of the voices, but there is eerily no response. She doesn't move to attack, however, and there are no emotional tells from the visible parts of her face. She lets her hand rest on her gardening tool for a moment, and then moves to greet her company after grabbing a staff from some sickly weeds, which she taps in front of her.
At full height, she's tall. She doesn't, however, speak. An errant breeze blows hair away from her face to reveal a mass of scar tissue where her eyes should be.
She beckons with her unprobing hand.
Eliah Daring |
Eliah continues to approach, smiling in earnest at seeing someone without tusks. When the wind shows the woman's face, however, Eliah's grin fades a bit and her steps slow. "Huh. That's peculiar." Unable to detect anything nefarious about the gardener, Eliah approaches to about 20 feet before pausing for another greeting in common.
Having usually relied on translators during her excursions, Eliah knows more dead languages than any useful current ones. 'But maybe...' She tries greeting her again, in Thassilonian this time.
Salty, you following or hanging back?
Max Smithson |
Fajra Todd |
The caster and allies within a 50-ft. burst centered on the caster
Each creature affected by this spell is given the potential for greater success and glory. If the affected creature is benefiting from a morale bonus of any type, it can double that morale bonus on one roll or check, before making the roll. Once an affected creature uses this spell’s effect, the spell is discharged for that subject.
Max Smithson |
Maybe Trout knows off the top of her fins if my spell scales the morale bonus?
I keep forgetting I am not CL 10...so 7 minutes and 14 HP.
Tuich |
No objections here. Tuich can also do some minor touch-based healing, though her capacity's pretty limited at first level. And the few buffs she has are also touch only. So her hanging close makes sense in both directions.
Xarl |
Xarl doesn't really need any buffs before the fight, but that Rally Point sounds nice. Once we get close Xarl will be using his sacred bond, and then it will be time to cook some chickens.
The Elusive Trout |
After about a minute of preparations, the adventurers edged forward to find the gryphs awaiting them in forward formation like some form of greasy feathered army.
Init for the birds:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Tuich |
Figuring you're gonna need inits from us:
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
The Elusive Trout |
I had a hard time just makin' it, Tuich. But yeah, I'll need the away team's init.
The woman stiffens at the use of the Thassilonian tongue and takes a marked step back, bringing her staff to full bear in front of her.
She pulls out a free hand and wiggles her fingers until she hears the aquan tongue and relaxes slightly.
She scratches her staff into the ground and reasserts her hand with a series of gestures.
Spellcraft 17 indicates she is casting detect thoughts. Regardless, I need a will save to see whether or not she gets anything from this feed.
Eliah Daring |
spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Since she identifies the spell, Eliah elects to fail her will save.
"Don't do anything rash, Salty, she's just trying to get a feel for our intentions." Eliah raises her hands in a conciliatory gesture, though she's not sure what good it will do if the old woman is blind. "Hey, hey, no worries. We're not a threat, we're just lost and need some help. Can you help us?"
diplomacy, with LUCK: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26
She says that in common, since she doesn't like Thassilonian. If she still doesn't respond, she'll try Draconic next. Eliah is thinking similar thoughts, she just wants to get some help figuring out where she is and how to get back to civilization.
"Salty, she seems to be more receptive to your tongue. Can you translate? And please, don't go off script!
No offence, but Eliah isn't really confident in Salty's skills as a diplomat :P
Max Smithson |
Max quickly pulls back his nocked arrow and lets it fly toward the farthest right gryph. H2 Then follows the first arrow with a second.
1st Arrow, PBS-DA: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (18) + 16 = 34
Damage, if hits: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
2nd Arrow, PBC-DA: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Damage, if hits: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
The Elusive Trout |
The woman relaxes once she hears the woman's thoughts in draconic, but doesn't appear to understand the common tongue. She raises her head and emits a strangled sound, dropping the scarf around her lips far enough to indicate that there's more scarring, and one could predict, horrific damage underneath.
She taps her staff into the ground and motions again for the duo to follow her. She starts to make her way back to the hovel.
Lupi Rhatwell |
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Despite the helpful smatterings of information, Lupi unable to make any connections with these details and the creature they relate to.
"So we're up against an unknown foe, hm?"
"Looks that way." Kenith growled. "Don't split up." he instructs, spitting to the side.
Pharysene looks from Niu and into the distance, rubbing her arms in a nonexistent chill.
"I don't have the best of feelings about this, but I don't imagine we're safer inside. We should take turns on watch while we work, though. I'll feel better when the knights return."
Eliah Daring |
sense motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 nice!
If she doesn't sense anything amiss, Eliah will follow the woman, taking a glace at her scratchings in the dirt as she passes. (Was she writing anything or just havin' fun?)
She falls into step with the half-orc, whispering discreetly, "Keep your guard up, just in case. With everything we've seen the past two days, I don't know what to expect."
bluff to pass the message, if ya like: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21 (Enough to get it across at least! If not hide it too well :P)

Tuich |
Tuich winds up and slings a magicked rock at one of the critters.
Ranged Sling, Magic Stone=>J3: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
... and misses wildly. :o(
"Used to shooting birds in trees," she mutters.
Eliah Daring |
"Hmph. I hope you're right, but it pays to be prepared. Especially with all of... this." She gestures minutely at their surroundings, indicating her annoyance at not fully grasping their situation.
The Elusive Trout |
Concentration1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11Oh, and REF1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Though Tuich missed horribly, the sorceress set three of the greasy birds aflame, leaving them hopping mad. I hope you don't mind that I moved you to F3 to make this work.
