For reference:
Attaching a grappling hook is a ranged attack roll with a -6 from range increments. The rail of the ship is AC 5.
Each of the Climb checks are DC 15. The ship is 40 feet up. So that is three passing climb checks.
For each climb check make a reflex save that I will use if one of the crew hits you with something.
Attempt 1 to board:
AC 5 ranged attack with -6 from range.
Three passing climb checks with reflex saves, or till you fall off the rope.
Skrelznit is pleased to be put in a leadership position, until he remembers that that means he has to lead the way.
He feels no need to knot a rope, but will assist anyone who does.
Profession Sailor, Assist Other: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 Still counts, right?
Prior to combat, he sets aside a bucket of sling bullets in the crow's nest for Looseal to grab, and casts Monkey Fish on himself just prior to throwing his grappling hook.
Grappling Hook: 1d20 + 5 - 6 ⇒ (14) + 5 - 6 = 13
It finds the rail and Skrelznet scrambles over like a monkey to the nearest enemy by the stairs, upon whom Looseal has just dropped a bullet.
Bombard: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 Crit Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4 Sweet!
If that finishes him off, Skrelznit moves Starboard 5 feet and readies an action to attack any enemy approaching.
I think I've used up my Move allotment for this round. Let me know if not.

Sarag the Strange |

Sarag seeing the others start to move readies his bow and begins to sing in draconic. His voice carrying over the sounds of the battle as he hits tones that not even steel on steel could ring.
Perf Sing: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
I haven't updated it completely yet as it's a bit hard for me to type with my hands so swollen but I shall once the swelling goes down.

Grauchi |

Active spells:
Shillelagh : 18/20 rounds remaining = 1d8+1 magic weapon
Skrelznit, I think you've made a mistake. You're wearing Hide Armor (medium) so monkey fish has no effect on you.
Grauchi gets ready for the assault. He ties knots in his rope.
Profession Sailor: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
"Yous can use our rope as well after we is on the othser boat"
He casts shillelagh prior to throwing the rope.
Grappling Hook: 1d20 + 5 - 6 ⇒ (12) + 5 - 6 = 11
Climb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 with knotted ropes this should be sufficient
He readies himself against anything that comes in.

Sassarra |

With the winds swirling around her and protecting her from stray arrows,
Sassarra moves to the end of the spar. She points down at the enemy across the ship. "Spirits of the storm, strike him down!"
Targeting the NE enemy.
Touch attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 Electric

![]() |

Grauchi, you're right. Retconning into Studded Leather. Thanks for catching that.

Eepers |

Eepers would rather take a moment to tie up the rope than fall again, especially with sharks being drawn all around!
Profession (sailor): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Ranged Hook: 1d20 + 3 - 6 ⇒ (6) + 3 - 6 = 3
Eepers launches his grappling hook across the water, but it bounces off the side of the ship. He quickly begins reigning it in to try again.
Included +1 to Sailor and BAB from Level 2, will update statblock this afternoon

Hokina |

The number of climb checks and the hook roll is based on where you are targeting. The climb for a knotted rope is 5, while unknotted is 15.
Round 5:
Skrelznit throws out the grapping hook grabing the railing. Swinging and climbing like a monkey he makes it up to the ship and stares one og the men down.
Just as the man towers over Skrelznit a big rock falls from the sky knocking the man for a loop. But the man is still standing.
You grappled and climbed as your actions.
A grand song, for a kobold, can be heard among the screams of battle. Some try to sing along while other man move their guns closer to their own ears; hoping the guns will block out the sounds. Are you using one of your songs or just singing?
Grauchi slowly makes his way up the rope and on deck ready for battle.
I will treat you as used accelerated climbing. So you could make it to where you are on the map.
Sassarra stands up in the mast raining down pain on one poor fool.
Unless you targeted some place 30 or more feet away, you check would have hooked. So you can start climbing.
Waiting on Mopsank. Will roll tonight if he has not posted by than.

Sassarra stands up in the mast raining down pain on one poor fool.
Unless you targeted some place 30 or more feet away, you check would have hooked. So you can start climbing.
Doh! this wasn't a grappling hook, this was my lightning. I should have been clearer

Eepers |

Just a couple days ago, at the start of this encounter, we hit 2 by milestone.

Inspire Courage: An affected ally receives a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls.
I missed the roll, sorry
Grauchi takes another stab at the blue man.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 1 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 1 = 9
If the man goes down, Grauchi goes to the northern escape boat and sees if there is an easy way disable it. (Like taking out the peddles or something.) He was ordered to kill anyone trying to escape, but standing between a man and his escape route is a dangerous place to be. He'd rather disable the escape vehicle and find a quiet spot to where the enemy doesn't need to be to survive.
I moved Grauchi on the presumption that 19 damage is sufficient to down the man. If not, I move NW (5ft step), just W of the blue man.

Sassarra |

Sassarra took 2 DMG from Pink.
The crossbow bolt was aimed right for her, but the winds whirling around her catch it and hurl it away into the ocean.

I do that too. Sometimes the fog of war is in your head.

Skrelznit looks with awe at the sparks coming from Eepers mouth.

Sarag's shot lands on the deck next to Pink. But as Pink jumps back from the near hit, Sassarra throws down one last bolt smiting Pink like a god on high.
Skrelznit with one blow spills out Purples insides. As Purple's hands overflow with red, unable to hold in his own guts, Looseal picks out Purple's eyes. Finally Skrelznit follows up by stabling his trachea; ending the mans screams.
Eepers: Blue was killed last round by Grauchi. So I guess you would move to the only one left alive you see; green.
Eepers runs deep scars into the man's left arm; nearly ripping it off. Badly hurt and facing a raging red beast, he tries to jump over the side but as he turns his back Eeper digs his claws into the mans back and snaps his the man's spine.
