Not knowing there's anything to fear, Atol strides into the room (after high fiving Toffitt) and examines the cobwebs. He's fascinated by the reforming of the web after it's 'broken'.

"This is very interesting. What do you think makes them reform again so quickly?"

I should memorize Endure Elements more often. Even with Dr. Toffitt's protection I still feel a chill in the air. Atol bundles up and stamps his feet a little.


I'm lead to believe Finneas is flying, so he also high fives Toffitt and heads in. Glimmil went the wrong way (back down the hallway). I put him in the room. Atol tried to go into a wall; I stopped him at AF14. I've zoomed the map in so it should be easier.

After trotting about in a few circles and finally getting his bearings, Glimmil moves ahead into the cold room and wonders in amazement at the sight of his own breath.

"Fascinating! It's cold in here, like a freezer. My Aunt Gizwidge was a butcher, somewhere up near Furyondy last I heard. I wonder if she has a meat locker that's cold like this. Mom always thought she was a bit funny you know, since she never married and had a lot of other women friends..."

Glimmil pokes the ice wall with his lance and looks at Dyrant then Finneas.

"Should you have some sort of magical fire to simply melt this, Dyrant?"

Glimmil is fine in this location with another readied action to attack a hostile enemy (that is not a member of the Cauldron Five)


Ice crystals rain down on the party from above. Aralynn begins her loop de loops, having fun weaving between the web of crystals without breaking any of them.

I'm assuming the hole is tiny at this point, so nobody is squeezing through it, yet.

Glimmil keeps his lance ready (standard action to ready an attack), looking for a sign of how to proceed from those better able to deal with giant walls of ice and peep-holes.


No peep holes in the ice walls yet. Even if Finneas had hit, he wouldn't have broken through in a single hit. The bug is 30' up. The only thing blocking is the fragile reforming ice crystals.

Atol uses Blessings of Fervor for +2attacks/AC/reflex saves this round.

Remember, anyone who had breakfast with Atol has 10 temporary hit points, +1 (morale) attack rolls/Will saves, and +4 (morale) on poison/fear saves from the heroes' feast for 12 hours.

The glittery shape begins to cast a spell which worries Toffitt who fires his bow. The arrow bounces off the form that his briefly seen before the ice storm begins. It encompasses the entire room and 5' out and catches the entire party. The cold doesn't affect the protected party, but some of the larger hail stones hurt.

The now visible creature screams at the party and begins to descend.

For the remaining duration of the spell, heavy snow and sleet rains down in the area. Creatures inside this area take a –4 penalty on Perception skill checks and the entire area is treated as difficult terrain. At the end of the duration, the snow and hail disappear, leaving no aftereffects (other than the damage dealt).

Presuming Dr. Toffitt is going to join in the battle next round, Atol walks over to him (can't 5' step due to the terrain) and gives him the strength of St. Cuthbert. "Go forth and do his will - clobber it!!"

Atol uses Blessings of Fervor for +2attacks/AC/reflex saves this round.

Remember, anyone who had breakfast with Atol has 10 temporary hit points, +1 (morale) attack rolls/Will saves, and +4 (morale) on poison/fear saves from the heroes' feast for 12 hours.


Dyrant laughs at the devil and it laughs back maniacally. Glimmil and Finneas delay for Toffitt who grants them air walk. Atol has stepped up to grant strength to Toffitt so he can also receive the air walk.

Finneas makes use of Toffitt's spell and immediately smashes the still blinded devil. Glimmil tries to do the same and clumsily connects with the blinded bug.

The ice devil regenerates a bit and then lashes out at Glimmil and Finneas. He misses them all as he either can't penetrate their armor or misses due to his blindness.

Ah, without a 5ft "flap" (Dyrant in my brain), Glimmil would've simply flown up to "base" it properly in Round 1, likely provoking an AoO.

Realizing an aerial party is forming around the devil, Glimmil discards his lance and summons Claw-Whomper into his hand from his shiny new magical glove and tries to hammer some sense into another devil.

"This one's uglier than that glabber-zoo!"

The party chops through three feet of ice to the north and finds a collapsed passageway. Another hole is made in the east wall of ice and a hallway is found. There are more tubes containing spell weavers and the passageway continues on to a t-intersection. One way leads to a door. The other way leads to a set of six doors that line the north and south walls, three to a side. The hall itself ends at a tangled lattice of icy strands that flicker and writhe with cold blue tendrils of light. The strands are similar to the ones in the previous room, but these appear to have a purpose or is possibly just a piece of art.

"Hurray! Another devil destroyed by the Cauldron Five... and nobody's really even hurt this time!"

With another pop Claw-Whomper disappears safely inside of Glimmil's gloves and Cog attempts a graceful landing. Hopping off to pick up his favorite lance, Glimmil checks Cog for any serious injuries before remounting.

"More of the six-armed thingers. Is someone maybe experimenting on them? Learning how they weave? Hey, don't spiders also weave things? Like webs?"

Wary of ice-spiders, Atol keeps his distance.

"I think we should check that webbing first. Could be a giant ice spider in there."

Atol glances nervously at the 'sculpture'.
