Stanislav Greymist
Stanislav closes on the armed guard, moving into a flank if possible and attempts to efficiently bring him down.
Two handed Long Sword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 151d8 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 +2 more to hit if he can achieve a flank.
Robert Findlay
"Indeed, my dear. I much prefer that." Robert moves to flank the guard attacking Soren, so long as he can without provoking.
Dark energy once again swirls around his outstretched hand, seeking the warmth and vitality of the guard's lifeblood.
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16 touch attack, 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 cold damage (-2 to hit if unable to flank)
Vank Stormfist
Vank follows the other remaining guard and swings
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
His hurry to inflict death causes him to slip on the pool of blood spreading from the dead guard.
Big OM
Once again Nadine's mysterious powers enslave the guards of Branderscar and poor Soren is dazed. Vank strikes at his target again but misses. Thomas moves behind Soren to end his life, but fails. Robert closes in on his target and his magic finds its way despite Robert being alone. Stanislav moves to the same target and aided by Robert, his attack severs the man's aorta.
Soren's save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Initiative order:
Nadine 21
Vank 20
Thomas 19
Robert 14
Stanislav 12
Soren 3
******************Round 3******************
Robert Findlay
"So,Soren, you see we are quite serious. Your life is all but forfeit at this time. If you wish to remain breathing and whole of body, I would strongly recommend you convince us of your value."
Robert will use his club to finish off any downed but not dead guards as he speaks, calmly and quietly, eyes locked with Soren as he finishes off the man.
Stanislav Greymist
Stanislav calmly walks up to the guard who tried to get away and sheathes his sword into his vitals. Wrong move lad. he explains with little emotion as he helps the dying man to the ground.
Long Sword, two handed: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 211d8 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
After the guard is dead he cleans the blade on the body and begins to search the dead for useful equipment.
We've more weapons and armor here, and more uniforms as well. he says, stating the obvious. He will take a uniform this time and quickly change.
Robert Findlay
Robert also takes a suit of armor and uniform to appear as a guard.
"Ah, clothed in steel and armed, even if it is this cursed prison guard uniform. So, what's next, all?"
Nadine Laveau
Nadine smiles and for an instant, she seems like a vibrant, beautiful young woman again. "Oh, excellent everyone! Robbie loved the show!" She watches the men disarm and strip the guards, and then she takes a stray dagger from one of the bodies.
Humming to herself, she makes some cuts on the bodies, slicing off pieces of skin and muscle. Once again she wraps them into her piece of cloth and tucks it into her belt. "Ok, what now?" she says excitedly.
Stanislav Greymist
I might have gotten ahead of my self here. DM has not said the third guard is dead yet. I think he is, but really we should let him tell us. :) Sorry....
Vank Stormfist
Vank lets out a growl as Soren is struck down "He was m..." stoping mid word he start arguing over his shoulder in the goblin language
Turning back to his companions and speaks in common again "They are right. I am sorry I should never have trusted him and killed him when he batrayed his companions. I won't make the mistake again."
Stanislav Greymist
If you want to claim a guard Vank, keep him on a string. That one was running. Stalislav explains. The fighter helps search the bodies and tries to assemble a complete uniform for himself with uniform, dagger, club, sword, shield, armor, and bow. Everyone got what they need?. Lets move.
Robert Findlay
"I am ready to travel. Let's go, and seek out these fools. What's first? Armory? Bunkroom? The sergeant? Any one of those is a good target."
Dressed in real clothes, armed and armored, Robert feels much more confident.
Vank Stormfist
"We should go kill the guards that are still asleep before they wake up, then kill the sergeant" Vank says "But I was wrong about this guard." He says kicking Soren.
This seems to remind him and he fetches a dagger from one of the guards and rips open Soren shirt and starts to cut a clenched fist into his chest.
Robert Findlay
Robert stays with Stanislav, also trying to remain stealthy (Take 10 for 14?)
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 if take 10 not allowed.
Mighty Grumblejack, do you wish to accompany us? I hazard a guess you'd prefer freedom to captivity, yes?"
Big OM
With the guards dead and a fairy secure floor Thomas walks silently down the stairs. He descends into a landing like the one he just left a 20x40 ft room with a door in the north end. It is open and as Thomas peeks outside he looks down a hall at a double door undoubtedly leading outside. In the 20x80 ft hall there are two doors on the left and one on the right. No patrol or watch is visible.
No problem this time Stanislav :D BTW I'll be away for the weekend, you have been warned.
Good thinking Robert. Has anyone released the poor misunderstood ogre?
80 xp each and loot like the first time.
Vank Stormfist
My understanding is that he was released but standing back for stealth reasons.
"Grumblejack do you want to stand outside of the sargeant's door and bash him if comes out. Otherwise wait until we get back from cutting a few throats in the sleep and then bash?"
Vank sneaks down behind the others 15 on a take 10 or if not allowed Stealth: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 7 - 2 = 23
Stanislav Greymist
I concur with Vank, Grum was released. He even attacked a guard iirc.
Stanislav knows he is not quiet in his armor and hangs back, letting Robert and Vank handle the initial visit into the barracks. He will wait right outside.
Nadine Laveau
So that's the door on the right, yes? Then a turn to the left is what he said.
Nadine stays with Stanislav, allowing the others to move first. For once, she's fairly quiet, not humming or anything.
Big OM
Recalling the way Vank and Thomas move like wraiths through the empty hall reaching the door on the right, silently the door slides open at Vank's first attempt. Slowly making glide into the room, inside they find themselves in a large room with tables and benches. On the eastern wall hangs a banner with the dreaded emblem of Branderscar embroidered. Turing left towards the door in the north end of the mess hall, they prepare themselves for what might be on the other side. This time Thomas sneaks the door open This room contains four beds, a dozen chests and 3 sleeping guards, their equipment neatly stacked on a chest each.
So how do you want to handle this?
Robert Findlay
Remaining silent, Robert draws hid thumb across hid throat before gesturing towards the sleeping men.
He steps aside and motions for the more martial members to do as they wish.
Big OM
Robert did you follow Vank and Thomas? Stanislav remained behind at the bottom of the stairs.
Grumblejack follows you down the stairs more eager than ever to cause harm and revenge himself. He is not silent as he moves down the stairs and you have to keep him back as to not alert everyone of your escape. Clearly unsatisfied by this he stamps in the floor. "Grumblejack wants to smash little 'uns now!" he demands.
Vank Stormfist
Vank hearing the noise rising behind him raises his club and lowers on to his head with force. Coup de Grace the first guard then moves to the last guard.
Auto Crit: 2d6 + 12 ⇒ (5, 5) + 12 = 22
Does the last guard wake when we kill the first two or can we coup de gracce him too?
Stanislav Greymist
I am not sure of the distances involved but Stanislav said he would stay back 30', not wait at the stairs.
Nadine Laveau
"Now, now Grumblejack. If you can wait, then we will surprise Blackerly and you can crush his head in your hands! Won't that be worth the wait?" Nadine stays with Stanislav to give Thomas and Vank room to work.
Big OM
Then I misunderstood you Stanislav.
One of the guards stir as the two assassins close in. Vank's club crushes the skull of one of the guards while Thomas somehow manages to miss that vital carotid artery. The pain rouses the guard from his sleep. The sound of this wakes the last sleeping guard.
Initiative:
Vank 21
Thomas 9
Guards 8
Stanislav's Stealth: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Perception as everyone close in: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Perception after first attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Guards' initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Thomas' initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Vanks' initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
If someone else wants to join roll your own initiative.
Thomas Glint
Surprised at seeing the man's eyes open, Thomas raised and plunged down with both daggers.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Attack 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Safe to say those are both hits.
Damage 1: 1d4 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + (3) = 7
Damage 2: 1d4 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + (3) = 7
If this guy survives another 14 damage, I think we're in trouble
Stanislav Greymist
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Stanislav, 20+ feet down the hall might activate if he hears something that gives him a reason to. Otherwise I am not sure he would know to do anything at the moment.
Vank Stormfist
Vank moves quickly to the other guard and swing the club down on him before he can work out what is happening.
Attack (+4 vs prone target): 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 4 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
To speed things up here is my aoo if he tries to stand. If he doesn't stand ignore it.
Attack (+4 vs prone target): 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 4 = 9
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Big OM
Thomas flurry of cuts drains the last life from the guard before him. Vank finished with his first target moves to his second and once again hits his target with his club though not as powerful this time and the man tries to move past Vank to his sword. He succeeds somehow as Vank's response fails to connect.
End of Round 1
Stanislav Greymist
Did Stanislav hear anything? Perception was a 20, but I know there are distance modifiers.
Stanislav Greymist
As soon as its evident that the guards are resisting Stanislav moves in. He may have to double move, but if 30' of movement will bring him to where he can attack he does. If he can gain a flank, even better. If he can't quite make it he will still close to a flanking position hoping that if a guard goes for a horn, retrieving the item will provoke.
Longsword, 2 handed: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 141d8 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Thomas Glint
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Attack: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 2 = 16
If that's a hit, Damage: 1d6 + 1d4 ⇒ (6) + (1) = 7
Vank Stormfist
Vank moves to finish off the guard.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Big OM
The latest of Vank's enemies seems to be more of a challenge than the others, if you can call a man fleeing for his life that. When the poor sod finally has his blade in hand Vank strikes from behind crushing his skull in. When Stanislav enters the Thomas is still by the bed blood beginning to flow unto the floor and Vank is covered in a red pulp.
And that is 3 more guards down, 120xp each
Just a random perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
I need to know where everyone is please. Everyone in rooms 9 and 10 a perception please.
Vank Stormfist
Sorry can't access maps on my phone. Vank will benext to the fallen guard.
