You can forgo making a day job roll to instead devote time to assist with the growth of Tasch. Any time you opt to do so, check a box on this boon. Once all five boxes on this boon are marked, you receive 500 UPBs. These UPBs cannot be converted to credits and must be used to craft some kind of equipment.

I was wondering, should I be starting out with boons? Or do I earn them as I play the character?

You start with one free faction champion boon for the faction you want to earn fame with. The rest you earn or purchase (with fame) through the course of the game.

If this is your first character you can also add the Welcome to Starfinder Boon.

What's most needed from a party perspective? Should I play an Engineer instead?

Honestly, pretty much any class would fit I think. Good news of having three operatives is pretty much every skill seems to be covered. I'd say play whatever feels right (just please god not another operative haha)

Yeah, in Starfinder, class overlap isn't so bad.

Definitely play what you want... you should be fine.

No. There's no benefit/trade off to dumping stats.

Click a persons name and that should take you to their profile where their sheet will be (also, you'll want to put yours there.)

I've narrowed it down between a dex-focused human envoy and a gnome engineer!

Click "My Account" (top of webpage), log in, scroll down to Organized Play and click either "Edit" or "Make Changes."

There click "Register a New Starfinder Society Character." That makes the new alias and registers the character.

Note: Gnome is only available if you have the Legacy Race boon from GMing Starfinder. Always Available races are Human, Android, Kasatha, Shirren, Vesk, and Ysoki.

Terrific - thanks for the help. I've made the new alias and registered the Society character. Now how do I actually add the character to the game so he shows up on the "characters" tab? And how do I add myself to the "players" tab?

It should happen automatically as soon as you post in the gameplay thread under your alias

You're right, it did! Thanks. Character creation finished, all set and ready to go. Looks like we're 3 operatives, a technomancer, and a mechanic. I'm the brawn!

I'm new to starfinder so it took me a while to build a character and I had a hard time choosing a feat... I was going in between heavy weapons and weapon focus. Figured it was better to go w/ weapon proficiency now so then I can start with the right equipment and add focus after.

Hate to say it, but to my knowledge dwarf isn't an SFS legal race without the Legacy Race boon you get from GMing starfinder. Unless you have that boon, you're limited to races from the race section of the Starfinder core rulebook.

Also, not that it matters much and please play however you want, but just a heads up that you won't get Weapon Specialization for free on heavy weapons because your class doesn't offer proficiency in it. Just something to think about.

Sorry, just got back from Mount Rainier where there was zero access.

I was just going to ask about the Dwarf race. SFS is limited to the core races unless you have a boon. We'll keep moving forward while that's worked out.

If you mean the list version, then I think that's gone.

I use the double column version, and other than having an extra click, it's the same as it was before.

I'm so so sorry for going AWOL guys. I had a death in the family and just haven't looked at my computer in weeks. I know this isn't fair to you guys, but I think I'm going to need to drop out of the game. Believe me I feel terrible about making this commitment and not keeping it, but I'm just not in a place to give this game the attention it deserves. I really do apologize.

I am a long time PF player but completely new to SF and also quite new PbP.

The SF character you see was created for me so I need some time to get into the SF rules and understand the character's capabilities. Good thing about PbP is that I have time. ;-)
