Tchisk keeps the Loreseeker close on its opponent's tail, and Dusty tries to target the Threnody's power core. The targeting attempt is unsuccessful, as is Master Filament's shot with the light laser cannons, but Flint's shot with the rail gun connects powerfully, sending a surge of energy rippling up the port side of the ship and misaligning the weapons on that side of the vessel.

The engineer aboard the Threnody ignores the glitching weapons, however, and moves energy to the engines to enable the ship to move more quickly as it flees from its final doom!

"Given my last performance, Captain." Master Filament intones as he tries to line up the gun sites on the aft section of the undead vessel, "I would not be opposed to some encouragement. Indeed, the greater the mass--the stronger the gravimetric pull."

After an encouragement attempt...

The ysoki notices an illuminated switch next to the firing controls. When he flicks it, a message appears on his screen. "Would you like to initiated computer-assisted targeting?" it reads.

"Why, yes. Indeed, I would!" Master Filament responds.

A flurry of activity spreads through the Loreseeker as its crew begins to smell the blood of its fleeing prey in the water. Another expertly aimed shot from Flint opens up the engines to a final attack, then, with the targeting assistance of his science officer, Master Filament finally strikes the balance he has been seeking throughout this fight. He lines up the shot perfectly, finds the hole created by Flint's shot, and fires.

As the laser blast connects with the Endless Threnody, the Corpse Fleet ship lists to one side and its power core overloads, covering the ship with coruscations of negative energy. As you survey your own ship’s damage, you can congratulate yourselves on dispatching a wounded—though active—threat to living creatures everywhere.

The Corpse Fleet ship still contains valuable information to the Starfinder Society, however, so, following your victory, you should already begin preparing to board the drifting wreck.

END OF QUEST 2!

BEGIN QUEST 3!

The Endless Threnody drifts just outside the forward viewport. The enormous Corpse Fleet starship bristles with bone spurs, and a baleful red lens at its fore resembles a swollen and bloody eye. Crackles of dark energy leap across the bone spurs, discharging from the ruined ship’s necromantic power source.

With a burst of static and a flash, a blue-hued hologram of Venture-Captain Arvin appears at the Loreseeker’s communications station. “Excellent work. The Endless Threnody is incapacitated, but not pulverized. I need you to board that vessel, access the main computers at the bridge, and recover the coordinates of the missing Starfinder vessel’s crash site.

“That energy signature looks dangerous, and those discharges can damage your hull. Dock at the cargo bay at the rear of the ship and make your way forward to the bridge. Wear space suits if your armor can’t protect you from vacuum—there are a few suits in a storage locker aboard your ship. Eoxian ships do not have life support and are often exposed to space. Any questions?”

"No questions then? Good! Let's get you on your way. There's no telling what's become of the Starfinders that lost their insignia at this point, so the sooner we can get you to them, the better! Now, as I said, watch out for the necromantic energy aboard the ship, and make sure you're prepared to move and fight in the vacuum aboard the Eoxian's ship. Best of luck to you, Starfinders!" With another flash, the communication channel closes, and the image of the venture-captain disappears.

With your objective clear, you return to your stations and begin making your way toward the Endless Threnody. As you draw closer, you continue to see the pulses of energy radiating along the outer hull of the ship, and the large bone and metal spurs jut out menacingly, making your approach treacherous. It will require some skilled piloting to navigate safely to the ship's cargo bay, where you intend to board.

Tchisk, please give us one more demonstration of your impressive piloting skills!

I would say yes since you have the time to approach cautiously, not that it matters with your rolls! How many nat 20s is that for you?! I gotta get you out of that pilot seat and show you who's boss around here. Haha!

Honorbound Emissaries

With absolute precision, Tchisk moves the Loreseeker nimbly past the Threnody's boney spurs and easily pulls up to the cargo bay. After taking a moment to gather in the ship's airlock, you hear the hiss of the room depressurizing and opening to the vacuum in the undead-run ship.

Moving into the ship's cargo bay, you find it mostly empty, as the crew already used their few supplies to patch up their ship after the pirates’ attack. Three wide openings lead to the ship’s central passages. Near the cargo bay's loading ramp, you find a computer terminal, the cursor blinking idly on the ready screen.

Map updated! Feel free to place yourselves in the entrances on the left side of the map to show how you're moving into the ship's central corridors.

Ningth is unable to decipher the language on the screen, but Dusty seems to have a very good grasp on the format of the text at least. Master Filament reminds the crew of their objective aboard the ship, and everyone begins to fall in line to make their way toward the bridge of the Corpse Fleet ship.

The branching corridors inside the Endless Threnody are not made of solid bulkheads of metal and plastic, but of a lattice of enchanted bone and steel. A metal grating on the floor provides stable footing, but the walls have gaps large enough to fit a fist, providing largely unobstructed views out into the void. The passages split and recombine in a manner eerily reminiscent of being inside a giant rib cage, held together by the pulsing energy you see rippling along the walls of the otherwise lightless corridors.

Group C: 1d5 ⇒ 3

Tchisk attempts to move forward silently, but he is unsure of how to hide himself in this unfamiliar terrain. Perhaps it is the pulsating light of the necromantic energy in the walls, or perhaps its the sight of the computer terminal about halfway along the central corridor that distracts him, but he loses focus for just a moment, and is spotted by a member of the skeletal crew who is coming down the hallway right toward him!

Sorry, no surprise round!

@Flint, unless I'm missing something, that first shot was a crit, meaning you would get to roll damage twice on that shot. With that, you'd roll at least 1 more damage and destroy your target.
@Filament, let me know if you want to adjust your movement since Flint destroyed his target.

Flint swiftly destroys the crewman that had come charging toward him out of the darkness, leaving nothing behind but a pile of bones. Master Filament calls upon his stellar node and forms his solar armor, drawing his pike as he does so in order to back up Flint. Instead, he only finds the collapsed crew member and is suddenly overwhelmed by the bone-deep cold emanating from the wall he stands beside.

Ningth, I'm going to assume you were targeting purple. Blue is around the corner from you, so you don't have a shot on him. With that shot, you destroyed your target!
Tchisk, since Ningth took out the skeleton you targeted, I'll allow you to retcon your turn.

Kaiole and Ningth move into position and take shots at the purple crewman. Kaiole's shot is far wide of his mark as he shoots from cover, but Ningth's aim hits the skeleton squarely in the chest, reducing it to smoldering pile of ash. Both of them now stand closer to the chilling walls of the ship's corridors and feel the icy energy stab into them, causing small patches of their fur to appear almost frostbitten.

Good! Since what I really want to do is get to that computer terminal and try to determine what happened to the starfinders and see if I can stop that nega-pulse from hurting me again.

Computers: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Dusty retrieves and powers up his flashlight, then rushes in toward the terminal.

Move to draw flashlight, move to space.

Master Filament heads toward Flint and then toward the skeleton before him. Move action

Readied Standard action if skeleton moves within 10 feet of Filament:

I missed seeing the crit. Still would have continued shooting at a second target. However, just leave it as it stands now

Flint takes a bead carefully shoots twice around Master Filament.

The sharpshooter ability reduces cover penalties by 2

Ranged attack, Full 1, cover (reduced): 1d20 + 5 - 4 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 5 - 4 - 2 = 19
Damage Shot 1, Crit: 2d8 ⇒ (5, 8) = 13

Okay now I see my crit

Ranged attack, Full 2, cover (reduced): 1d20 + 5 - 4 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 5 - 4 - 2 = 13
Damage Shot 2: 1d8 ⇒ 7

Honorbound Emissaries

Tchisk moves toward the computer terminal in the central corridor and executes a few rapid commands to open up the Power Core command screen and bring the power level down to its minimum setting. As he does so, the pulsing energy suddenly fades out. Now the cold seeping through the Starfinders' armor and spacesuits is just that of the vacuum of space, rather than the deadly chill of necromantic energy.

Success! You powered down the engines. You did not find the information you were looking for, however. It looks like that information is in the terminal on the bridge.

With Tchisk at the computers, Dusty moves forward to provide any assistance he can.

Master Filament moves into a tactical position to strike the skeleton before him if it should advance any further, but before it has a chance to move, Flint fires off another incredibly accurate shot and destroys the skeleton.

The last member of the Threnody's crew moves quickly around, assuming his companion will be there to help flank the hapless Starfinders aboard their ship.
