The creature fires another web blast from her maw at the rogue.

She then drags herself and attempts to pull her prize into the hole.

SPECIAL ABILITIES: Drag (Ex)
A weaverworm that successfully entangles a victim with its web attack can retract the web, dragging the victim into its clutches. Each round, the entangled victim can attempt a CMD check to escape. Upon a failed check, the weaverworm forcibly drags its victim 20 feet toward it. CMD30

Anna can try the cmd check (I don't think she can pass it) otherwise she is dragged into the hole falling 10 ft but the webbing provides enough padding to avoid damage.

On Anna's turn she can attempt a DC19 to break or escape the web.

The wormlike creature is still shown on the map but is infact within its hole/tunnel and can only be attacked by jumping down into it.

Hmm. Is there any way I can get on the other side of it? So that when the cavalry comes I can be flanking?


It fills the tunnel more or less and is long as well, it would be practicably impossible with your move action - its CMD is 30 as the base plus modifiers for the tunnel and the way that the weaverworm fits snugly? I'd slap on a modifier on that too... maybe try something else?

Not sure how that would even work as you are facing its front and it has tremorsense, darkvision etc... you want to run past it deeper into the tunnel and get where it can't hit you etc? Actually this is a DM error - your Acrobatics didn't beat its CMD which should halt your movement moving through its already occupied square but this is cinematic and besides I don't feel like re-doing the whole thing - consider this a one off exemption - normally you can't share a square with another creature.

The tunnel is 20 feet long, with the body stretching nearly to the end of it, with the weaverworm is about 3-4 feet thick so there is some room for it to move, retract etc and at the same time give you your dex bonus...

Next round it can retract itself to bite you - fixing the whole positioning hole I dug myself into.

You on the otherhand can still attack - no sneak attack though - this round.

I believe you can share space with a creature two sizes larger than you. Not sure how big this weaver thing is though. Is it large, or larger? And from above can Tolvan see it, no problem? I will assume so. Also, the squares adjacent to the pit is not friendly terrain. If you start your turn there you have to save or fall in...

Tolvan, ready to sweep down and grab Anna is dismayed when he sees her disappear deeper into the creature's lair. He conjures a Flaming Sphere to harass the creature and then flies out of its line of sight.

Flaming Sphere: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 1) = 9 DC 17 Reflex to avoid the fire damage. I am hoping that its reflex save is very poor. :) Oh, now that Tolvan can see it, may he make a knowledge check to know about it?


It's not visible to Tolvan any more but it was before. Roll your know check. Your flaming sphere will work fine however.

I have gone back and reread all the posts for this combat and then some. Ready to roll here. There is a created pit with an ettercap in it not shown on the map.

Took me a minute to get my bearings and figure out where we left off. I think I am on an Ettercap by the looks of the map.

Oathar will power attack the Ettercap in H3

2nd attack greatsword PA: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

If the Ettercap falls after the first attack, he will move into the tower. If it falls after the second, he will 5' step that direction.

Ok, if you go by the Roll20 map the Ettercap in H3 is in H5. Oathar would have been in K9 so he would have to move to I6 to attack it so no second attack. Kimberly would be in L9, Danica in H13 with the other Ettercap in the pit in H12. Now that is up to you OGGM!


Ok, I adjusted - mostly - per Oathar's directions. I didn't want redo the whole map to expand it, so it is now a close approximation of where you were. The red circled ettercap is in the pit. The red dot on Tolvan is to show he's flying.

Oathar's blade cuts down the ettercap blocking the opening to the tower. It dies in a spray of blood and web filament.

Just need Kimberly to end this round.


btw Tolvan, you CAN see the weaverworm, that thing is huge and you have the angle down its tunnel. It will get cover from any ranged attack you might make. As far as the pit spell, call it 2 rounds used.

The worm twists in it's tunnel, almost impossibly doubling upon itself, to claw at Anna. Long nails covered in dirt and filth tear at Anna's flesh. Worse yet, the rogue feels her muscles stiffen and her reflexes begin to slow, as something in the nails starts to work at her system...

26 hp dmg Anna, and a DC 19 Fort save , please.

Tolvan pulls a wand and fires it at the huge monstrosity and a globe of acid splashes over it, burring it, and continuing to burn for a short while

Range Touch: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 172d4 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4 Continuing damage that might cause a caster check if it does any caster type stuff. The continuing burn might help get the creature's attention too. ?

Ohmanohmanohman, Anna mutters as the monstrosity rends her deeply with its awful claws. Her dagger flashes, though she attacks with an effort to increase her defense.

I'm back. anti-toxin still in effect...luckily...Danica, that ettercap is in a pit, denoted by the red circle around its icon, although I didn't say that to anyone, so we'll go with it.

Another impossible twist, and Tolvan's sphere rolls past the weaverworm without burning it! But the acid hits home, drawing a scream of pain from the creature.

Danica cuts away at the ettercap climbing from the pit, knocking it back down to the bottom with a crash of limbs and green ichor.

Deep in it's lair, Anna cuts the huge worm with her dagger, leaving a trail of dark blood in its hideous hide.

Ettercap went, climbed up only to be hammered back down by Danica; Group B - Oathar and Kimberly

Kimberly can't see Anna, and she knows deep in her heart that she's going to have to move close to that...thing...if her healing energy is going to reach her friend. Moved you appropriately for line of effect.

You did. Oathar's sword cuts a bloody swathe in the creature, dark blood muddying the dirt floor of the tunnel. It shrieks in agony and turns quickly to face him. It lashes out in a fury, all fangs and claws. Only one of the wicked claws catches the paladin, but it does so cruelly, piercing a deep hole in his leg. -13 hp dmg Oathar, and a DC 19 Fort save, please.

ROUND 5 BEGUN: weaver has gone, GROUP A is up.

Looks like Oathar managed to piss the thing off even more. Works for me, Anna thinks. That spot looks tender. She targets the monster's flank, driving her dagger at what she hopes to be a sensitive spot.

Danica looks at Oathar's opponent, then she looks at the pit. The ettercap is still capable of getting out and attacking her team while facing the other beast. She decides to say put and defend the rear.
She then takes another swing at the ettercap as it tries to get out of the pit.

Danica, you can't reach it when its in the bottom of the pit. You'd have to ready an action for when it climbs up to where you can hit it. Then it's flat-footed as it climbs. We can use this action for that, if you wish.


Tolvan's flaming sphere rolls back against the weaver, scorching it's underside as it twists to avoid the flames. The acid continues to sear it's evil hide as well, and it screams in pain. Oathar slashes at the beast with all the power of Iomeda (smite evil still going and power attack)
great sword: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 12 + 2 + 1 = 31
damage: 2d6 + 19 ⇒ (4, 2) + 19 = 25

great sword: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 7 + 2 + 1 = 19
damage: 2d6 + 19 ⇒ (5, 5) + 19 = 29

Maybe if the worm is squeezed I might hit it with the second attack!
