You are teleported to the “Smoke Filled Room”*

The air is hot, and you cannot see more than a few feet in front of you. There does not seem to be anything immediately dangerous here. You must search for the exit

You have taken the north door

You have stumbled out of the smoke filled room into a passageway. You can go south, back through the door, east into an unknown part of the castle, or there is a door on the left.

The door opens into a large room the ceiling is suspended by four columns, spaced around a calm pool of water with a ring of tiled stone around it.

The pool has a giant octopus ready to attack you. It begins with 20 hits (2 tentacles) rolling 2d6+10 on its first attack. On its next attacks it adds one more tentacle, 10 hits, until all eight tentacles are destroyed, or you are dead

First Round Attack: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (4, 3) + 10 = 17

Brenda scores a 6, doing one hit against the octopus, but her total of 15 is less than the octopuses 17, doing two hits. Luckily her buckler stops the damage

You fight bravely against the initial attack, and now that you know what you are up against you prepare for it to get worse before it gets better.

The octopus does not add i/2 it’s hits to further attacks, but adds another tentacle + 10 hits

Second Round Attack: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 4) = 13

there is a violent splashing from the basin, another tentacle shoots out of the water, but something else has been set free…
