hahaha Marty, you might need to make an alias for your character, your elf genius description was quite entertaining, but since our characters can't be from Iceland we can't have elf PCs :D
I threw together a quick avatar on my phone, this smug Pali with a bucket on his head will have to do.
Mark Castle
Always happens on a first deployment. The last time I played Only War we were drop troopers. Squad of 8, only 5 success on the first Pilot (Personal) checks, even with drop troop bonuses and FP re-rolls. Spent the next few minutes guarding the squad medicae while he patched them up under fire.
Anna White-Campbell
Hah! Sounds like a blast! Only problem is I'm the medic hahahaha
And being a Paratrooper I'm kinda miffed that my character can apparently Jump out of a plane just fine but slide down a rope? No go.
@__@
Hopefully my Paranoia (both real and my characters Talent) helps out as does my Clip/Drop Harness since I literally took it to avoid getting owned when rappelling down stuff.
CLIP/DROP HARNESS
These are useful when operating on rooftops or rappelling
down buildings and consist of a coiled safety line with a
stout magnetic or hook fixture, all attached to a belt or torso
harness. A character using a clip harness to descend a vertical
surface gains a +30 bonus to Climb Tests and cannot fall if
he fails. Common quality harnesses can hold 150kg, while
Good quality harnesses can support 200 kg.
We'll see how this pans out :p Hopefully I dont shatter both knees falling down like one of my friends did after we jumped down a Ventilation duct in a Shadowrun Game.
Pete Carlton
Issue is there is not surface to climb down till you hit the trees. A +10 would still even be one degree of failure. Hopefully my 4 degrees of success might help.
Parachuting is much different from rappelling and those are much different from rope drops from a helicopter. For most people this is 50/50, Mark BARELY got his.

Guys, I don't want to sound like an a+&&&#, and I don't want to step on the GM's toes, but there's a lot of non-in-character stuff in the Gameplay thread.
Traditionally the Gameplay thread is for IC stuff only - rules related stuff and OOC stuff normally goes in Discussion, to avoid cluttering out the IC and make a clear distinction between IC and OOC. If you do need to say something short OOC in Gameplay, use the [ooc][/ooc] tags so we know what's what.
Can we try and keep Gameplay fairly tidy? Sorry. Thanks.
Pete Carlton
You do sound like one because unless you are blind everything that is in the gameplay thread has been more or less been IC, Im going to assume that that message was meant for another game but hold my judgement until you respond.
Mark Castle
I didn't want to come across like that, and I'm sorry that I did. I really don't mean any offence.
It's just that in previous PbPs I've been in, everything in Gameplay has been pretty much character speech, character actions and relevant rolls. For instance these two things are mechanical discussions, which are much better had in Discussion:
"My agility score: 31 (I factored above the 10 penalty for best with plates)
Jack's Loadout:
-Rocket launcher (emergency button)
-Auto shotgun
-Mono knife
Slots:
-Shotgun ammo reload (3 mags)
-Rocket ammo (+1 bonus round, 4 rounds)
-Grenades, photon (x1), frag (x2)
-Data slate (forward thinking)
@Browman, does heavy get the three reloads as per other weapons? That would mean between Bob and I, we have a total of 5 rockets... (one with weapon, three with slot, bonus with heavy gunner. Please advise."
and
"However, I have a Clip/Drop Harness as part of my gear and the Catfall Talent. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo if those can help me in any way not eat s$!* on LITERALLY MY FIRST DICE ROLL I'd be grateful.
But, otherwise, SO glad I got a Photovisor for Night Time Stuff and have Blind Fighting woo"
It's just not what I'm used to see in Gameplay, that's all. If everyone is happy, I'm happy to carry on as is. I really don't want to offend anyone, I just want to clarify stuff.
Pete Carlton
I will give you Anna's lines may be the most similar to that but Jack's are about the loadout he has which IC is very important and something you likely see. It happens to be a laundry list rather than spoken in a paragraph. The @ signifies one should not assume the aforementioned sentence is IC.
The note with the Agility score does however go along with your view and is rightly an offense, much like Anna's mentioning of clip/drop harness. In the cases I have seen, it is likely some forgot that the ooc command does not function if you use the enter key and make a new line. It will only work for a paragraph and all new actual lines must have their own separate OOC command.
As you explain further you come off as much less an a$@@#@#. What has been mentioned however is much different from "alot"
Browman
I see it as being more of an issue if your whole post or the vast majority is out of context. But posting your applicable stat and modifiers is definitely helpful when making a skill check.
On the issue of ammo and slots it works as follows:
Each weapon automatically comes with 3 clips that take up the same slot as the weapon.
If you use an other slot to carry ammo, you can hold an extra 3 clips of ammo for any weapon or combination of weapons in that slot. For example if someone has a shotgun, a C7 and a pistol and uses an other slot for extra ammo, they could take 1 extra clip for each, 3 for one weapon or any other combination that adds up to 3 clips.
Pete Carlton
Well its all harmless, GM clarified another issue in mind and you had enough grace to apologize in advance. As you can tell I am normally the blunt one to point out such things and am usually neutral. Thus I am quite aware one when one is an a#!@#~& as I normally am the offender.
Pete Carlton
We'll see what happens to Jack and then the situation at the LZ so we can approach the vessel. We got 2 hours of light before nighttime and I assume they didnt drop us off too far from the target. The trick here is to measure out how careful we should be.
Mark Castle
I think we need to balance speed with caution, as it'd be good to have everything done and be extracting before nightfall but we don't want to rush into an alien ambush and be lasered to death. Maybe we should set up a perimeter while Anna sees to Jack?
EDIT: OK, we're on the move. I'm happy to take point, if people are OK with that. How about me, then Pete as our resident close-combat chap? Then a solid firebase of the other three?

Im alright with that. Was going to mention it in Gameplay.
Pete Carlton
Though his background isnt all that special its easier to see how he one-manned that bank heist. I doubt the rolls will be AS GOOD for combat. Luckily if it comes down to it as long as I can roll under 100 with the shotgun we should be fine. Point Blank is his style.
Pete Carlton
Yup thats one way to make sure the enemy can kill you, be really hard to kill. Its why I invested in Dodge and have a certain tactic with Quickdraw. Enemies who arent inclined in Melee combat will be forced to stay close or risk punishment at melee range as they try to escape which THEN pushes them out of cover for the rest of the squad.

Depending on how battle goes, I believe we can provide each other adjacency bonuses during CQC. I took Combat Master as my package choice, which I believes prevents me from being "outnumbered" by the enemy.
Pete Carlton
If you outnumber the enemy then yes in CQC it does that. If we took Double Team that bonus would become greater. Combat master I also took with Pete because I imagined he would be the first in and often surrounded. having the enemy not gain anything from that while striking out against everything in the immediate area works out well for someone focused on said combat style. A little bit more that Double Team.
Pete Carlton
So used to playing I forget that you can roll the actual dice here, by the rules that 1d10 would be a 3 on a d5. Assuming the shot even happens because Pete isnt fully sure if it is a threat or not. do believe if ANNNYTHING about it is strange, screw Stealth. It's getting shot.
Pete Carlton
If it were something like a Moose a Quadruped would be pretty noticeable. Even at a distance. They also tend not to be bulky. Now alternatively, we might have really messed up and Met a Muton early. If my damage went through though.. It would get hit in the arm and be stunned.
Anna White-Campbell
Hopefully its an Alien.
But yeah, a Moose is HEUG so I'd be surprised if it was one; however, he was pretty unspecific in that its a Black Amorphous Blob of Something.
If we do nab ourselves a Muton and dont get his gun to go POP we might have a plasma weapon available for research if they follow the Xcom Loadout.
BUT! Seeing as this isnt 100% X-COM, as far as I'm aware, stuff would be subject to change.
Still, hopefully its not a Random Camper, Big Foot, Animal or Surprisingly Large Plant Swaying in the wind ^_^
EDIT: It was a bear LOL
