Are these things seriously called Vexgits? Like my job is to tell jokes, but these guys are making it too easy!
(Inspire Courage +2 Move Action)
Archibald moves up the steps and draws his rapier, ready to act should something attack or try to cast spells or something.
(Archie has Disruptive and Step-Up so if this thing tries to cast a spell or move, Archie is on the case!)
GM Baerlie

Archibald moves up the stairs and prepares to hit any creature that attacks or casts a spell.
Two of the Vextig human hunters shoot arrows at Archibald, but all three arrows miss. black takes a 5 ft. step back to avoid Aoo

I'm guessing Yoshi can't close, but with reach should be able to strike at the creature in red up the stairs. I'm giving him a -4 due to cover though
Frustrated at his inability to get past his comrades, Yoshi reaches out a huge fist to try and knock over the creature blocking the top of the stairs.
trip: 1d20 + 12 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 12 + 4 - 4 = 25 <- +4 from size, -4 from cover.
As they are higher up, I'm thinking even if successful it would be uncharitable to follow up with a viscous stomp. Not that Yoshi isn't flexible you understand, but...
GM Baerlie
|
S'Slarn grapples the tiny gremlin while Yoshi tries to hit the gremlin with the red glowing eyes in front of Archibald. The attemt hits and the goblin falls to the floor. Unfortunately the tiny creature is too far away to be stomped by a large boot.
Three more Vexgits act. The human hunter shoots an arrow at Archibald while the two normal vexgit gremlins continue to wreck the machine and throw the parts into the portals behind them. The parts disappear.

Archie runs past Oloch and S'Slarn and drives his crackling magical rapier into the enemy Let's put an end to these danged things. I feel like we're in a an absurdist painting
Arcane Strike, Inspire Courage: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 291d6 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Maintain Inspire Courage (free), Arcane Strike (swift), Move 30 ft with move, Standard to attack on pink
S'Slarn
|
S'slarn will attempt to pin the creature he is grappling (black) and then deal damage to it.
Flurry grapple(pin): 1d20 + 16 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 16 + 5 = 25 <-Darn, that might not actually work!
unarmed: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

Yoshi Masaso

Yoshi ties to squeeze past the red portal
acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
He then pummels the black gremlin.
attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12 <- plus grappled/pinned.
damage. cold iron: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

Archibald drives his magic rapier into the enemy, leaving a big wound. S'Slarn keeps the black gremlin from moving and punches it. Yoshi squeezes past another portal and kicks the same gremlin in the face. The gremlin's nose breaks and it stops moving.
The gremlin with the pink nose strikes back at Archibald but misses.
Warhammer pink vs. Archibald: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 2 = 18 +2 for favored enemy, they are human hunters

Shagratt glances at the goblins wrecking the machines and appears annoyed. he shoots the one closest to him yellow or other closet if it drops. If the Know Nature is out of character knowledge let me know.
"Won't these things die! Maybe cold iron works better." his tucks flare out as he yells. He switches to cold iron arrows.

I'm guessing that Black is now down. I'm not sure what the thing in the corner is, if it is a gremlin he'll attack that. If not, ignore Yoshi's move and he'll attack black, otherwise he moves and attacks Green
Gingerly trying to work his way past yet another portal..
acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Yoshi slips on a pile of blood and touches the portal!
Not sure about consequences here, lets hope one of the main targets is still up!
----
On the off chance that black or that thing in the corner is still up and looks like a baddie, he'll trip/attack them.
Trip: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30
Follow-up stomp: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
cold iron damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Archibald Peck

presuming black is down...
Archie will move around the red portal and make his way to the (green) vexgit and lay into it with another crackling swing of his blade
Acrobatics?: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Rapier attack w/ Arcane Strike: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 351d6 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Confirmation on Rapier attack w/ Arcane Strike: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 161d6 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
I presume I can reach it with 30 feet of movement, if Archie cannot, he will cast Mirror Image to create Mirror Image: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 images
S'Slarn
|
S'slarn will try again to pin the thing and beat it up some more.
flurry grapple: 1d20 + 16 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 16 + 5 = 31

Shagratt shoots three more arrows at the goblin at the stairs. He switches to cold iron arrows. Shagratt knows that cold iron arrows make full damage; black is already down (forgot to remove it) and the thing in the corner is a gremlin in a burning sphere Shagratt kills three wrecking goblins. Oloch finally defeates the remaining human hunter who just got burned by the flaming sphere.
combat over
GM Baerlie
|
Oloch moves up to the fourth floor. The stairway to the belfry has collapsed. In its place, a wall of bright blues and reds ripples in a wave, ebbing and flowing to some unseen force. The wall extends onto the ceiling, blocking the view of the floor above.
The shimmering barrier oblocks further passage, encompassing the entirety of the belfry.
Yoshi Masaso
|
Yoshi looks up "I am wondering how long I am remaining this size?" he says carefully.
Then looking at the portals he adds "Apart from climbing, could one of these be taking us beyond the wall?"
| //Oloch\\ |
Speaking of Cerotius, where is he? did he stay down on the first level?
My max on spellcraft is 24.. not even going to waste the roll.
Oloch comes to an abrupt stop when confronted with the wall. "I have no knowledge of this spell. Does anyone have nay ideas? Where is Cerotius?"
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 Looking for any way around the barrier
Yoshi Masaso
|
"I am thinking that Cerotius is still on the ground, away from danger."
Toshi looks down the tower
"Cerotius, it is being now safe. But there is now in front of us a magical wall of some kind. Can you be helping us with it?"
He suspiciously eyes up the various portals, wondering if they could be the key to it.
Archibald Peck
|
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Archibald can't see a way past the wall I have been studying how to deal with this kind of thing, but alas this is beyond my skillset yet.
Archibald quits telling jokes and eyes the wall is there any way past that would be normally non-traversable due to it being in midair or something?
By the way Yoshi, you should only be that size for a few more minutes. I can dismiss the spell if you don't want it anymore
it's minutes per level, so 7 minutes total. I don't know how much time has passed
GM Baerlie
|
Yes, Cerotius is down on the first level where you ripped apart the sack of supplies.
"Yes, I can! I think!" he shouts up to you. After a few seconds he joins. "I made some notes over the last minutes." he says and picks up a piece of paper that appeared out of thin air. "There are two types of portals on each floor. The normal ones which transport everything and everybody on the same floor, and the other ones which transport things and persons to the floor above or below. If you enter a red portal you get out of a blue portal, if you enter a blue portal you leave a red one."
This piece of paper has two Sylvan phrases written on the back of it: “Alternate” and “Progress in an orderly fashion”.
please see slide 1 of the map sheets for the handout
| //Oloch\\ |
"In a red portal, and out a blue portal. Got it!" Oloch calls back. He takes a deep breath, closes his eyes, and steps forward into the portal in front of him.
I am going off of the assumption that we would not know which ones are the floor switching ones without trying them all.. trying not to use Player Knowledge of the sidebar on the map! If the characters would know which is which, Oloch will step through the correct one instead.
Yoshi Masaso
|
"How are we knowing which portals are taking us up, down or around" asks Yoshi, eyeing up the portals with suspicion.
"Are the blue ones going up and down, or the red ones? Or both?
He looks at the sheet of paper. "Is red going upwards?" he asks, showing the paper to Cerotius .
GM Baerlie
|
"I made some investigation when the gremlins entered this room, before the supply sack attacked. There are portals that switch the floor and others that do not. If you enter a red portal, you always leave a blue one and vice versa. No matter if it's a floor switching portal or not." Cerotious answers and points out the floor switching portals.
Cerotious knows which portals are the floor switching ones and tells you what he knows.
Yoshi Masaso
|
Yoshi nods to the small fey.
"Go in red, am coming out blue. Some red always go to different floor. Other red always go to same floor."
He heads up to the blue floor switching portal on the fourth floor and steps through it.
Assuming he can take ten on necessary acrobatics checks at the moment.
Since Cerotious points it out, Oloch jumps through the floor switching portal and ends up... well.. wherever you put him! lol
Actually, I amended my first action statement after Cerotious responded, Ijust neglected to move my character over to the other portal. I should have gone through the red "S" portal on the map.
Yoshi Masaso
|
Yoshi heads back down to the ground, and tries going through the red floor shifting portal there, and then if it takes him to the second floor, through the red shifting portal there to the second floor, and so it, from the ground one floor at a time up to the top of the tower.
Lucia Deedlit
|
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Sorry, a few days in another city so I didn´t have much time to connect to play
She looks puzzled to the barrier and after hearing the explanation of our friend she will follow after the rest.
"Ahhhh... what a dangerous mission this time..."
GM Baerlie
|
The red floor-switching portal moves Oloch to the fouth floor. When Yoshi jumps into the red portal on the first floor he appears in a blue portal on the second floor, directly between the gears. Yoshi, please make a reflex save :)
red moves you up, blue moves you down
"To unlock the belfry, you must pass through the portals in a way that alternates portal colors, while passing from the smallest number to the largest. I think you have to start with the blue portal on the third floor and move down to the second floor." Cerotious says. "There is nor portal in the clock room, the barrier will disappear if you find the right combination, I'm sure!"
If it's necessary, you are also allowed to take the stairs to reach another floor.
| //Oloch\\ |
After arriving at the fourth floor, Oloch hears Cerontious call out better instructions. "Well, if you say so..." he growls out before taking the stairs back to the third floor blue portal and jumping in. When he pops out on the second floor, he immediately jumps through the red floor switching portal and turns out.. If I read the notes right, that *should* put me back on the third floor??
Yoshi Masaso
|
Covered in blood, Yoshi asks "What is the number of the portal? Is this the numbers that are being hidden in the tower glyphs?"
And if so, can you remind us what they are?
